The perfumes covered in this episode were:
- Gentle Fluidity Gold from Maison Francis Kurkdjian (at the start of the video)
- Alien Fusion from Mugler (at the 17:00 minute mark)
- Evolution from Kings (at the 32:00 minute mark)
- Gentle Fluidity Silver from Maison Francis Kurkdjian (at the 46:30 minute mark)
and the classic choice was
- Ambre Sultan from Serge Lutens (at the 37:00 minute mark)

Here's the blotter update:
- Gentle Fluidity Gold has turned out to be quite compelling: the amber in the base has taken on a lovely tea-sheesha aspect (not unlike Hermes' Ambre Narguile), lending the whole an air of graceful sophistication
- Alien Fusion is basically still good old Alien, with hints of a fizzy, spicy top note... about which I'm not complaining one bit
- Evolution has descended further into dullness and an unfortunate pit of sweatiness; not impressed
- Gentle Fluidity Silver leaves a good deal to be desired as well; I've actually been wearing it on skin since the end of the video, and I'm sorry to say that it feels as harsh and boorish as it did on paper; I'm sticking with Gold
- and, of course, Ambre Sultan remains majestic, impassioned and all-conquering

Great episode again! I used to own Ambre Sultan until I accidentally smashed the bottle - my bathroom smelled of coriander for weeks.
Knowing now that you own beautiful Soir de Paris, I would love you to feature it as classic choice in a future episode. Wouldn't an evening in Paris be perfect around Valentine's Day? :D

i do not get what the fuss is all about with the mfk BR540??!.....its a SCENT ......the question is, is it a pleasant scent!?? the most overrated thing ive ever smelled though im curious to see what so me of his others smell like. That said.....there's no reason for a perfume to cost more than $150 bucks!? change my mind? ha i bought red temptation to get an idea about it...i use it with other scents as an "enhancer"
Well, I think it’s overrated. But lots of people really do love it.
Hated Gentle fluidity gold. I sold it at a loss after a couple of sprays only 😞
I got the silver version and it was love at first scent. So sparkling and so fresh.

My problem with MFK is....nothing much stands out - barring a few exceptions. But then again, I'm probably in the minority.
I really love Absolue Pour Le Soir and some of his Aquas and A La Rose. I guess many people think the Baccarat is a standout.
Ugrrrrh Baccarat Rouge 540, first I thought this smells nice, but then it sticks to my skin and becomes louder and louder with this aseptic cedar note! But it's so popular...so many mainstream brands are releasing clones....🤢 from this brand I would prefer Grand Soir or Á la Rose. Have tested the gentle fluiditys last month and I think my perfect scent would be a mixture of both, one spray gold and two sprays silver. Do you think, you can do an Interview with Francis Kurkdjian one day on a live stream? This would be so great and could cause an instant fangirl moment 😍😍
I would LOVE to get Captain Kurk on the channel, even though I’m not the world’s biggest fan of 540 either. He’s always wonderful to talk to. Extremely knowledgeable and passionate and interesting.
I got my bottle of Alien Fusion yesterday. I bought it unsniffed 😅 but I love it! I own and love original Alien and Alien essence absolute (also have Alien Eau Extraordinaire which is lovely too, for summer) Alien fusion is a fresher version of Essence Absolute to me... A really great flanker in my opinion. A more easy to wear Alien 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👽

Avengers wouldn’t surprise me at all. IIRC, Mugler is often inspired by comic books.

I'm the same. The original Alien is way too heady and overpowering for me but I love Alien Essence Absolue which I find warm, balsamic and syrupy and I find it's perfect for special occasions. I also have the girly and powdery Alien Eau Extraordinaire for spring and summer.

I dislike BR540 or Gentle Fluidity silver, yuck on GF. GF gold was ok, but not my favorite by a long shot.

I own and love Ambre Sultan. Can't explain why, but wearing this makes me feel more focused and alert...maybe it makes my senses stand to attention. I always get some eastern medicinal qualities from this...in a good way. Maybe the herbs as you say...

I completely adore the opening and beginning of GentleFluidity silver but it turns into this metallic screechy scent later that gives me a headache. I tried wearing my sample a few times and it always ended up like that.

I liked Alien Fusion from first sniff and I don’t like Alien. I want to give Alien another chance but so far I don’t get that one. I do want the Fusion!

Great review. I prefer the silver one, fresh beginning but rather calming drydown. Weirdly, it doesn't last on my skin, in contrast with its loudness on paper. It turned very close to the skin rather quickly. It smells like for a well dressed gentleman. Very versatile.

Persolaise Perfumes I like it, got a bottle after a few minutes of testing it. It works sooo well on my skin! Reminds me of Mugler’s Cuir Impertinent.
I’m waiting for warmer weather to wear it (-20°C is so not for it), at least above 10°C. It’s growing on me, I like that the house of Mugler took a different direction with this one, although its name and a history of a female Alien doesn’t do it justice as it was difficult to approach AlienMan without certain (very specific and big) expectations. I see it as Mugler’s version of BleuDeChanel.

After battling flu all week, a new epi of Love at First Scent is exactly what the doctor ordered. Thank you, Persolaise! Would you consider featuring Mugler’s Angel as the classic scent in a future episode? Not your fav Mugler if I recall, but maybe that could be part of the discussion, the marmite-ness of Angel, how far left of center it was when released in ‘92, & how relatively unique it remains despite the legion of wannabes it spawned. Again, thank you for another fabulous episode. ❤️

Persolaise Perfumes, Haha! No doubt! I absolutely loathed it at first. 10yrs later, I now find it a bit mesmerizing, albeit in very small quantities.

@@Persolaise I was transiently enamoured with BR enough that I briefly owned the original and the intense versions. Then I sold them. I wasn't crazy about the opening of the original or the dry down of the intense. The middle life of BR was appealing initially when it was new to me. Then I just could do without it. No strong feelings either way. Ambivalent enough to not own it. I do respect FK.
Elle Ayah Interesting. I wonder if other people are turning away from it. But I agree: FK deserves our respect.
I have alien and do wear now and then but I have taken a long time to appreciate it and it will never be my favourite.
It’s certainly got a very strong personality.
I’m on Team Baccarat Rouge and I’m relieved that I don’t get a toilet cleaner accord. It smells like spun sugar with warm cedar and a cool, camphorous thread running through it.
