Mario Kart Wii - 24 players at once... on custom tracks!

Sadly, 24 player mode wasn't ready in time for Christmas, but progress is good nevertheless. It has been completely imported into CTGP, and in this video, me and Chadderz are showing off 24 players at once (1 human, 23 CPU opponents) on various custom tracks!
If you haven't heard yet, 24 player mode is coming to Mario Kart Wii as an optional feature in CTGP! With this mod, you'll be able to play races featuring up to 24 players both offline (with CPUs) and online (in friend rooms). It will be available as soon as it is all done and tested thoroughly. No precise date, but we estimate it'll be another few months, but not much more than that!
Dev work on the mode is continuing at a rapid pace, and in recent most of my efforts have been focused on the online multiplayer, and while sadly I don't have that ready to show you here today, it is coming along very well - so well, in fact, that it may even already work. We've never tried! After tidying up some outstanding bugs in gameplay, the online multiplayer testing phase will begin! Currently I am streaming almost all dev work that I do at / mrbean35000vr , so if you're curious to see what development for MKW looks like, and if you'd like to be the first to know when the online multiplayer works for the first time, check out that stream at various points to see if I am live! That said, you bet I'll be uploading a UA-cam video of the first online 24 player matches when they're ready, hahah. Look forward to it, it probably isn't too far away!
If you've never heard of CTGP before, it is a custom track distribution for Mario Kart Wii that adds over 200 custom tracks to the game, along with various other features such as new game modes, the ability to alter game music and textures, access to the Wiimmfi custom server for online multiplayer even after Nintendo WFC shutdown, time trial leaderboards and soon this 24 player mod, too! If you're interested, you can see more about it at www.chadsoft.co.uk, where you can find instructions on how to download it! To play CTGP, you require a Wii or Wii U console, an SD card and a Mario Kart Wii game disc (all regions supported except Korean at this time).

Great timing. 4 AM. But there is a reason I watched, I have a rule that I'll watch a Mario Kart mod before any other content. Anyways, you guys kept referring to the release being soon. Is there a more accurate time table? Not to pressure you, it would seem you've gone very far with this and have a big lineup of plans. Soon for some projects is a few weeks, and some projects it's months. Take your time, but is there any idea of how long, in terms of months or weeks? You're doing great, and thanks for the work you've done.

Bean, I saw your today's livestream at Twitch about online support! Gives me the great feeling that this code's about to release in March! I can't wait to have it, and my hype will no longer need to stay-up inside of my head, instead being able to unleash it with not only my videogame-console screen, but also within' much more Mario Kart UA-camrs playing this 24-racer modification in da first place! I can see that in this video, as well as the oringinal 24-player MarioKart video, 24th place starts a little more further behind the finish line than how far 24th place starts in the beta version of MKW's 12-player mode.
I recently checked Mario Wiki's Gallery of MK: Super Circuit, and when I checked the course maps, it appears that finish-lines in that game have the same size as the wall-blocks have between them, aside from finish-lines being 4 squares long inside a single block, but that's not too important. Another thing I did realize about MKSC is that nearly every track has 1st place start 3 square units behind the finish line, and every gap of positions from 2nd to 8th are also individually 3 square units behind each other.
For the sake of not making math complex, i'm just gonna assume that every square unit in MKSC is exactly 1-square foot long/wide.
Now in MKWii, the vanilla game uses 12 racers by default. From comparison, I believe that every gap between two individual positions in that incarnation is 22 inches apart from each other. So 12 racers × 22 inches = 22 feet behind the finish-line (because the number twelve was coincidentally used for both inch-per-foot and amount of players in MKW).
Now as for this video, and the other first 24P video, i'd assume you made each racer exactly 1 foot behind or in-front of their opponents, since social-distancing each racer at start without pulling them too for back, is really fun for a racing game like Mario Kart.
However, because there are several custom tracks in the game that have no room for 24th place to start in-bounds when using that 1ft-apart layout, it had to be changed into simplicity by just placing each other 11 inches apart, which is just half the length of 12-player races (22÷11=02).
I think this comment is already long enough, but it was pretty fun speculating a simplified semi-formula on how far each racer begins behind the finish-line, when it comes to three diff. cases: 8-player GBA, 12-player Wii and 24-player Wii! 😅

At this point, the only think I can think of that this needs is the ability to add in more slots for characters and vehicles without needing to overwrite existing ones. Once that's done, we could straight up start adding in new characters and make this game truly timeless.
If he could add some drop down menus for characters so if you select mario you get the options of the 3, mario, baby mario, and metal mario, he can overwrite the spots for the babies easier, plus this could make adding the entire bowser family easier, attach them to a single character file instead of making new ones right?

I know this would appear rather overdone but fudge it, I'll say it anyway. Just imagine if they could get this working, we could have "Reveal Trailers" similar to what Smash Bros does for new characters being added!

@@MrBean35000vr Arcintel has a video named "Mode Storing, exploits like battle glitch explained". MKWii seems to have a bunch of these bugs where features from one gamemode get transferred to another if you do a few steps. Battle Glitch is the most useful one.
Speaking of which, I think it'd be nice if there were an option in the CTGP-R menu that automatically enables Battle Glitch without needing to enter a battle first. It's obviously not very high on the priority list, but it'd be a nice addition as it would save a bit of time for those who like using it in clan wars or just worldwides in general. Especially since, well, Battle is quite bugged in CTGP. Hope you consider adding it somewhere along the line. But for now, obviously focus on 24 player. I've been lurking in the streams quite a bit.
