He didn't look as he reached back for the switch and he didn't fumble or have to run his hand along the wall. It takes time to get used to a place so well that you can flip a switch, even randomly, without double-checking where it is on the wall.
I would never make the mistake that guy made....I still haven't memorized which of the light switches in my house does what drives my mom crazy that I don't know which light switch turns on the ceiling fan or the one that turns on the lights above the mantle

Which I find funny because Monk didn’t actually put him away. He wasn’t guilty of the murder he was accused of, just of running a cult. Monk exposed him as a fraud at the end of the episode so maybe that caused his followers to turn on him?
I remember being bothered by the continuity error in this episode. In a previous episode, Natalie and Julie give Monk 100 trophies for solving 100+ homicide cases.
That’s because Monk likes the number 100 more than any number over 100 that’s not 200. Also, this was taped. It’s likely this case was “solved” before that basketball one.
Mine would be Monk not knowing pause and rewind lol he did have a video player at home and probably had watched video footage of a crime scene once or twice back when he was still in the force.

That said, he's also about to get caught for 1st degree murder and tampering with an investigation so presumably he just panicked.

In the US when a show crosses a hundred episodes it can be syndicated and that can mean a big jump in profit and as such is a major milestone in any tv serial production. That's why they make this special episode...

Monk seems like the kind of character who would be right at home using an old home computer such as Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC or Commodore 64, whereby one had to type in every single command manually to ensure a program was coded correctly (and games usually loaded from audio cassette tape, which for most would be a pain but to someone like Monk would be fun - and to me, to be honest).
At 0:50, you clearly see the camera man follows the captain into the apartment. But at 3:50, the reconstruction shows the guy entering right behind the captain instead. Oops.
With a film coming out in December, I wonder if the writers will address the use of technology with Monk. Seems like Monk is very stagnant and would not own a iPhone or android. He did know a little bit out computers/laptops as Julie taught him. That aspect will be interesting.

I know how the captain must have felt when he had to stop watching the game. My husband had been gone all day and I was watching a Phillies game. It was the bottom of the 9th, bases loaded, and the he Phillies were behind by 4 runs. Schmidt had a full count and just as the pay off pitch was thrown, my husband came home and immediately started channel surfing! He couldn't understand why I was so upset! He said I could hear the result on another channel. I'd watched that game from the first pitch! You tell me, sports fans. Did I have a right to be angry?
i hate that they made monk an idiot in later seasons. he solves cases because he knows how people think and act even if he cannot emulate them the idea his doesn't know the words for pause/rewind is laughable he knows how to call an answering machine from a gameshow phone and play the voice messages back, he is not tech challenged. Also, he had no issues with VCR when Sharona was in the show. Sharona managed his awkwardness while they made Natalie manage his stupidity that had not existed in the early seasons.
My favorite episode. Can’t wait for the reunion special!!
