I love Randy, but I think it would have been really neat, if he had gotten more moments to shine. When he's saying really goofy stuff, you can't help but like him, but when the situation is grim, he's doing a stellar job like in this episode and you can't help but love him.
Yeah. From what it seems he's good with regular police work, it's just he struggles more so with the investigative aspect. He can handle himself in chases and shootings but in terms of searching for a suspect not so much.
Monk: So tell me what you need Disher: I don't know what I need! I'm barely holding it together! Monk: No, you're doing great. He'd be proud of you. Just goes to show that when the chips are down, Monk is truly a friend to these guys, and they to him.
@@shawnuelOne of my favorite episodes is the one where Randy is feeling down because he feels like a bit of a failure, so while he's asleep Monk tells him, subliminally, "Here's what happened...", so that when he wakes up he is able to put the pieces together himself and solve the case. That's a good friend.
At the end of the series he left to become the police chief of a small town in New Jersey. On a completely unrelated note, Sharona moved to the same town.
Monk gets into crime action scenes a lot more often than Columbo did. In this case, the mystery almost takes a second seat to a mad scramble, to figure out who shot an officer.
Colombo’s premise made it harder for true crime action scenes. The back and forth of point of view with the killer and Columbo made crime action scene impossible. Also remember, Columbo has to often catch the criminal with slacking to get evidence while monk is more about explaining the case. If you like crime action scenes watch burn notice
It’s not shown, but I laughed at everyone’s reactions to Monk not being worried about germs and hugging people because for sure it’s unsettling in Monk’s case.😅 Also, dang can Sharona drive.😉😊❤
I was wondering why she was wearing to scarf, but I figure it was to hide the stuntwoman driving. Either way, great scene. The moment the car launches into frame a meter above ground is just way too cool.
That's the perfect way to hide the stunt woman but also in real life women wear a scarf if they have a top down car to protect their hair from the wind and dirt I know my grandmother used to wear a scarf all the time when she was in her friend's Cadillac
The way I see Monk is that if it's people he trusts and love like Randy straddlemyer Sharona Benji his in-laws and then comes Natalie and Julie he's okay with them hugging him as I've always seen them mostly hugging him an areas where he's covered by his clothes and they respect him for who is and once again he does trust them and knows quote on quote where their hands have been. But you also see in some episodes that monk doesn't even hesitate to grab Benji or Julie to protect them so while he is germophobic he isn't to the point that he's not above protecting the people he cares about and does forget about his germophobia but it still affects him but again will protect the people he cares about. Hence monk chasing after a garbage truck to get the proof of the shooter that attacked strottlemeyer's wife so he can deal with his germs depending on the situation. Like in many episodes you see straddlemyer and monk hugging or just do the affectionate men hug I don't know how you just you would call it. But I have noticed that captain seems to be the one that monk doesn't have a problem with him touching him or hugging him but again they were former partners so straddlemeyer knows more about monk than anybody else.
Lol the scene "Dish, Play dough," and where do you find Play dough?" Toy Store Sharona "Give me the pills, you're having a terrible reaction to it" "I'm having a bad reaction to all of you "
I know it's only got a TV budget, but it's hard not to notice the enormous green screen shots in the drive to the robbery that are there to remind us that yes, not only is this set in San Francisco, it is also totally shot in San Francisco, for realsies.
@@joshisandeep8717 In the high speed drive it has shots that aren’t composited cleanly enough (the shot of the Golden Gate Bridge) or a couple moments later when they pass whatever that very pointy building whose name I forget and the perspective is off. I always loved in the series that they really play to the idea that it’s all entirely in monk’s head because whenever the chips are down and the rubber meets the road he forgets all his quirks and will fight to save his friends lives or be one of the kindest people you’ll meet. Tony added such depth to this character on a level I couldn’t imagine anyone else could
The first season had monk building up but once sharona left, he took 20 steps back n sadly his improvements kept rising and falling, mainly falling since he still treated natalie poorly most of the series
