People who only know Zeppelin and not the massive roots of rock and roll blues on which they built their entire sound miss that GvF is not "copying" LZ, but playing in a much older tradition of genres that died out in the 1970s for the most part. It's honestly frustrating to hear the ignorant Zeppelin worship that goes on insulting the generations of musicians (a huge swath from the African American tradition) who mapped out these sounds only for other groups to come in an profit much more from the groundwork and then get penciled in the history books of music as the representatives of that sound. GvF has resurrected that blues-rock style and atmosphere, as well as many other sounds from older decades (they can sound like Rush to Pink Floyd on different tunes). "They don't make rock like they used to" bemoan the "rock fans", and when someone does it's "they're copycats!". 🙄

Total truth. The Zeppelin comparisons are so lame and unfounded. Zeppelin found a ton of riffs etc from Blues other genres. They never caught heat.

exactly this! I’m a huge Zeppelin fan, but Zeppelin don’t have a wholly unique sound. people have compared GVF to Rush just as much as Zeppelin, which proves that Plant’s voice isn’t entirely original. but you’re totally correct, GVF draw from all facets of rock, soul, and blues, which extends far beyond Zeppelin!

This is one of their older tunes. While the newer stuff still has a Zeppelin flavor, the style is more uniquely them. New album out this week, and what I've heard is fantastic. Josh is an amazing vocalist.

This song was released several years ago. You need to listen to some of their current music (live performances are all amazing). These very young men are still only in their mid-20s today & their talent is undeniable. They continue to develop their own sound and they write all of their music! You’re The One recorded live at Red Rock will absolutely show the growth.

Been following Greta van Fleet for a few years. Josh Kiszka the lead singer and guitar Player Jake are twins. Bass Player Sam is the younger brother. Danny Wagner is the drummer. Besides sounding very much like Led Zeppelin, they play older type of rock & roll where the singer is basically the star, with a goos band backup. What I like about this band is that they play their concerts with the same guitar and bass, with no need to change to fit their songs. Sam plays the Fender Bass and Take plays the Gibson Guitar. Drummer Danny plays the same Drum setup as Jason Bonham from Lead Zeppelin. They are from a small town in Michigan known for a great restaurant that serves chicken and a year round Christmas Store. Frankenmuth, Michigan is a great little town and a tourist attraction.

They didn’t set out to sound like Led Zeppelin, they were influenced by the same blues and rock that LZ was influenced by. They were brought up on their parents and grandparents vinyl collection with the likes of Howlin Wolf, Aretha Franklin, all the Kings, etc. They want to take the sound of old and bring it forward for the new generation. Love their sound (and I’m an oldie) and message ( peace, love and unity) and they seem like a great bunch of guys.
I did not now that and much respect if true but why does he sound so damn plant esque. Same with Jake's playing. And come on that was a total Bonham drum solo. Literally very similar
If they grew up on blues it should actually sound less Zep derivative. That being said the newer material is far more unique and seems they are coming into their own.
@@jgsrhythm100 LZ were called ripoffs of blues-rock when they came out. Derivative. They became masters of the genre and pushed it's boundaries. GvF is doing that in their own way.
@@mechtime FYI Zeppelin were notorious for lifting lyrics from black blues artists( no credit or royalties paid) with many lawsuits. Check Muddy Waters You Need Love( Whole Lotta Love) for starters. They did push boundaries. GVF newer arterial is getting getting far less blatantly derivative sounding ( and much better) however I still hear 70's rock influence not black blues influence.
They are not even close to what the boundary push by Zep or Yes.
. Both those acts were not only ifluenced by blues bur traditional folk from around the word. Indian Mid Eastern music. Gypsy Jazz. The best heavy guitsr music today is coming out of North Africa which the mainstream is not hip to but packing clubs when touring the States

Yes, they most certainly have.
Their 3rd album The Battle at Garden's Gate moved them much further and to their own style. If I should pick up 3 song from this album: The Weight of Dreams, Broken Bells, Age of Machine.
Aaand Built by Nations and the Barbarians. Their third album is really solid listen. Still haven't got bored with it!
The Warning, a 3 piece Female band from Monterrey, Mexico reminds me of Greta Van Fleet because they are family that knows what and how to play just by looking at each other.
The Warning is a tremendous young and rock solid band, with excellent musicians and singers, plus they are great to look at. Ages are 18-21 and 23.
There both signed to Lava Records/Republic Records that would be an awesome lineup Greta and Warning in the same show !!!!

3 Brothers and a high school friend from Michigan who have been around for a while now, and yes they do have that distinct Zeppelin sound which I love. I had joined your Patreon when you first put it up but for about 6 months there was no interaction or movement and my requests never made it to your channel, so I cancelled and patronage

They also sound like Getty Lee, or Freddy Mercury, with a touch of Ann Wilson. Listen to some of their latest tunes to get a better perspective on their sound. Many live videos available. Well worth the watch.

Ahh man, they got their own sound. Singer? No! Bass. No! Drums? No. Guitar? No! I've seen Zeppelin twice. I've seen these guys. Nothing the same. Vocals very different. Different tones, registers, tamber. Guitar, this kid ain't no Jimmy Page! Drums? This kids good but isn't Bonzo. Bass, this kids on par with John Paul Jones but much better on the Keys.
They're a little annoying. They became well known sounding like led Zeppelin, dressing like led Zeppelin, and even having very similar stage mannerisms. Then, once they became pretty famous, they started getting upset at the led Zeppelin comparisons acting like "we are our own band and style"....😂😂😂.
