This tiny aquarium has been sat and over run for too long. It's only 2.6 gallons so not really suitable apart from fry, shrimp and i've had chili rasbora fish in there before as well. Anyway, one day I was looking at it thinking "I'd like to do a nature aquarium in there" but then immediately thinking it was too small....well, it's not to small, it's just difficult. And if something is difficult, then we should try to do it...so i have 😃

@MD Fish Tanks this is awesome!
I cried a bit when the nerite went in. I had a nerite go on walkabout last week. I didn't realize it was strong enough to lift the lid.
I found it! And had to carefully return it to the tank because nerites' funky shape means they can't actually right themselves 😳
That big ol' pseudopod just stretches and stretches.... without ever righting the shell.😔
Lil' buggers are so darned entertaining, and so stress inducing, all at the same time.
I don't mind the egg casings, though. I wish I had room for a brackish water tank to breed them.🤷♂️
How many gallons is your nano cubes besides this 2.6 one
Thinking of doing some of these as gifts. Who wouldn't love a tiny, easy to manage meditation tank with shrimp and or snails?
one of the many things I love about your videos MD is that you always show the tank and all its occupants from every angle, wide shots, mid shots and close-ups. I'm never frustrated having to pause the video trying to see something. Too many fishtubers either don't show enough close-ups, or only show close-ups and never what the whole effect looks like. Your videos are just perfectly satisfying 😊 I guess it helps that you've perfected your set-up. The nano rack looks amazing!
glad you enjoy fletcher. Yeah nothing worse than not seeing the full tank and close ups.
You are my husband's least favourite youtuber...every time I watch a video I'm like "yeah so I need another tank" 🤣🤣
glad to be of service lol.
Haha sameee My husband acts like he's sick of it, but he sits and looks and the tanks at night and enjoys the fish. He even helps feed them and stuff. He just likes to complain lol :)
@@cinnamonsparrowdesigns I wish! My husband doesn't get it and thinks they're 'just fish' 😒 while I love those little dudes
@@ellenm4560 Aww :( Yeah mine just likes to fake complain haha He takes me to the fish stores and lets me look and pretends to remember the names of stuff lol
@@cinnamonsparrowdesigns That's super sweet of him!
Who would even dislike this? 🤦🏼♀️
Love your work, my hubby and I love watching your videos in the evening before bed to get ideas and inspiration. Much love from a Canadian in the UK ❤🍁🇬🇧
glad you like the vids melissa :)
@@MDFishTanks your work truly is amazing, and I love how you dont claim to know everything about fish etc. Keep up the amazing work, cant wait to see more! A video idea (if u haven't done one yet, I'm still trying to get thru all of them!) - an inexpensive 1st aquascape/fish tank ideas.
People who dislike it are probably the other halves to the people that became obsessed with fish and tanks from the channel 😂
From India, I must say that I got inspiration to have a planted tank only by seeing your videos. Thanks for helping us to learn ,
Hey MD,
I recently started following you because you were recommended by a friend. And I absolutely love your videos. Because of you aquascapes I now have 2 aquariums which I absolutely love, you had given me so many ideas on how to scape them. Keep going!!
so glad you are enjoying :)
Damn, MD - your tanks, even the ones that which you are the most critical, all look beautiful. You’re more than an aquarist, you are an artist creating living artwork - an “artquarist” or something along those lines. Keep on - your aquaria are fantastic and your production quality is truly top shelf all the way.
Jinu, always admire your openness and guts in expressing your views without any bias or reservations 👍👌💪
What's better than watching the new MD video while aclimating fish for the newly scaped turtle tank?
nice!!!
Yo post it
@@jbiz1202 It would be a shame😂
watching a new MD video while acclimating fish of a newly scaped turtle tank with a cheeseburger and really crispy fries in your mouth
The thing I like about your channel man is that everything is not ADA, Twinstar expensive equipment. Nice beautiful scapes with affordable equipment.
Beautiful 👏 I have trouble getting stems in easy like you do with the tweezers. I use weights to keep them down. I cant seem to pull the tweezers out without pulling individual plants back out but somehow you get them planted seaminglessly using tweezers. Maybe my hand shakes too much from chronic health issue. I will keep watching you and practicing. Thanks for another creative scape vid.
I find it very relaxing watching you build these aquariums. It calms my mind and is so enjoyable :)
Omg!! That looks awesome. I have 4 x 2.5 galons and now im inspired to use them for shrimp haha. Personaly I would not put a betta in anything less than a 5 galon.
Re: the problem with your shrimp tanks could be your plant fertilizer, the liquid one.. it has copper in it and copper is toxic to shrimp. Hope this helps.
@@astonphipps2722 still, even the tiniest amounts of copper can be deadly for shrimp and any products that contain any amount of copper should never be used in shrimp tanks especially because the copper can build up
@@Gmte copper is an element necessary for all organisms, including shrimps, but they have a very little tolerance for excess copper. The copper amounts found in liquid fertiliser need to be overdosed >10x to be toxic for shrimps. You are right about copper overstocking, but this only happens if overdosed, the correct trace concentrations is rapidly absorverd by the plants.
@@Gmte I did some number crunching on copper in liquid fertilisers because I was paranoid about putting it in my shrimp tank. While there weren't any numbers on cherry shrimp specifically, the most sensitive shrimp species was the Australian ghost shrimp with a LC50 value of 0.034ppm after 96 hours. Most other shrimp had a LC50 of 0.3 or higher. Looking on the back of my chosen liquid fertiliser, the recommended high dosage for a bright, heavily planted tank with CO2 injection would put 0.0225ppm of Copper into the system. You might have a little bit of die-off if you have Australia ghost shrimp.
The "average" recommended dosage would put 0.0075ppm of Copper into the system. I would need to dose 4.5x the recommended "average" dosage of fertiliser (and maintain that level of copper for 96 hours) for 50% of the Australian ghost shrimp to die. For other shrimp, you would have to put in 45x the recommended "average" dosage and maintain those levels over the course of 96hours for 50% of the shrimp to die.
Unless you're massively overdosing on fertiliser or have the much more sensitive Australian ghost shrimp, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
I have been dosing tropica specialized (contains copper) daily in my 10 gallon for 2 years and my shrimp are fine. I think it's only a problem if you overdose by a lot.
My fish enjoy watching your builds with me. They all gather to watch, we love the videos!
It’s always great when you wake up to an MD video.
Work of art. I'll try to do the exact same. Hey, your aquariums are a million times better than your competition. Thanks for working your magic.
The interest on that rack is intence so much to look at an appreciate love it!
My favourite channel on UA-cam, I do follow all your work ,love from India ....All the best!
Great build for a tiny tank! The whole rack looks spectacular! I do enjoy the music you pick for your videos also.
Sir you make my day , as i'm getting bored & notification of your video makes me feel good.
Perfect timing!
@@MDFishTanks sir I'm really a big fan of yours from India. Lots of love wanna meet you once.

OMG I’m ROTFLMAO. That was my favorite episode 😂
After watching your videos, I literally got a 2 foot planted tank. And I love it! All thanks to you!
You scaping is incredible. I like how you make it doable. Your awsome
Did you know that salvinia was a floating fern ? So cool isn't it
Super scape ! as many of us I was waiting for you to rescape the small tank for days and it turned way better that I expected
I’ve literally bought salvinia and Java ferns for my beta tank because of you’re videos, you always give me ideas or inspiration for my own fish and amano shrimp
Loving the frosted effect, nothing wrong with the black but it's a fresh look and it's nice to have difference 🙂
fish tank isn't just a hobby it's an lifestyle
Your videos are one of the best 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
very kind of you to say :)
if he was a saltwater guy just imagine the amount and variety of corals he would have.......
I think it might be time to get salty...
Yess
@@MDFishTanks Let’s goooo
i thought he was gonna make the tank he made into the Chiclid tank a saltwater tank
Master the fresh my man. 20+ years I have been in the hobby. I had a choice, become one with freshwater or go marine. In my experience, its literally one or the other. Its too complicated to do both. Maybe a small reef nano, but anything above that is time consuming and alternative. I couldn't manage it and I dont have an audience to please. In my experience and speaking to many people in my hobby they cant manage it either. Be a freshwater or salty. You will struggle with both audiences and interests.
That's a lovely little tank.
Awesome vid, I have myself a 19L Aquael aquarium that looks very similar to yours, and I've had cycling for over a month now, with a proud-standing dragon stone rock in the middle and can't wait to get it stocked.
some chilli rasboras would look awesome 😊
Amazing!!Going to try it for my table......... You are the best!!!
Edit: I have a 30 liters tank and I want to turn it in Planted aquarium. Can you please make one video on it but it should be Budget friendly.
thanks very much :)
Whoops, forgot to subscribe XD fixed that! Your videos are both inspiring and soothing, thanks for making them!
Lovely little scape MD.
thank you patrick
For your stand-metal lip issue bowing your shelf ... I took a router and trimmed off some of the undersides of the board at each end (like an upside-down 'L' ) so the board sits down on the metal shelf but clears the lip.
MD can you go around your fish room and talk about your favorite equipment you have bought over the time of your hobby. no just things that are sponsored. You talk about the flood lights you like but I'm talking tank, filter, lights DIY things you have made... things that have just made everything either better or easier since you got them.
These tanks are not really my cup of tea, small tanks with pretty, white sand and a fancy little island scape but everyone has their own tastes! Continue making videos man!
yeah some like the full on planted, rough look ones. Myself included...might do that next...
It’s interesting to see English speaking UA-camr use Aquael products, it’s very popular where I’m from (I may even say it’s the most popular aquarium equipment company here) but I barely see it in the videos made by people from the US/UK
You did so good on this one. It's definitely my favorite of your last 10 or 15 that you've done. Keep it up!
It‘ll be overgrown in no time 😂
@@vEGan1909 Haha probably true! The java fern and anubias are really slow though so hopefully it won't be too bad!
You always make it look so easy and so beautiful!! I think I’m going to have my own tank rack soon LOL 😂
Beautiful set up. How do you handle the shrimp waste on the lighter sand? I have 5 cherries and they poop……a lot
Wow what a beautiful fish tanks
Love your the aquascape!!
Beautiful tank again man……love the channel.
Very soothing
You have to fix that shelf! Not for yourself but for all of your OCD watchers!
MD, I have been binging your channel for a few now. Every vid is the same BS! It ends! BTW? You are the first to get me to que up (any) let alone 55 vids on YT...However, to be fair? I thought I had watched all your vids & to my surprise, I was wrong.
I know this one is going to be amazing!👍🏻💕
hope you like
Can you do a new betta planted tank 🔥
just planning one actually :)
Ahhh really want to try a nano now. Awesome tank MD
nano's are awesome
I would say this is too small for a betta. (Btw The tank looks amazing 😁)
yeah, depends where you are from, I know the eastern countries use even smaller for betta fish and will put any tetra/guppy in this size with no issues.
It's too small for a betta.....period. I've had it with seeing bettas in dinky aquariums.
I don’t think I’d put anything living but plants in there.
@@MDFishTanks how many tetra in this size? 6...
I looking to setup a small "low maintenance" tank, for the kids and me to enjoy.
Hope you have a awesome day
you too :D
Water Acclimating inverts takes weeks for it to be effective btw. . . . All one needs is temp acclimation with most inverts.
Although I make a healthy food but I love your channel so much
Awesome little Tank
One day I will make an awesome aquarium studio like yours u are my motivation bro 💪
Good thing about selvinia is you can feed these to goldfish, they love it and you will have a endless supply.
I like your work sir, from Philippines
You are a true artist!
Simple setup but so cool. Amazing
your all tank so amazing,,
Lovely little scape!
Aquael is Polish brand :D I'm also made in Poland :D
AWESOME, QUES, no cover to keep the nail in the tank from being on the floor the next day...?
Thanks for the Video … could you send a Link from the Small Tank from where you get the Floating Plants? And also the round Underground Stand with the Lamp please. Thanks
Keren banget hasilnya 👍..
Mantap tutorialnya...
Beautiful tank
You should start selling your plant cuttings. I would definitely buy some off of you!
It would cost me more to prep and send than they are worth.
@@MDFishTanks what if we're local ? I'd love to buy plants off you cause I know they're healthy and free of diseases
@@MDFishTanks you could sell or donte to the local shops. Might even trade you fish/discount/store credit.. new plants.
And he wouldn't have anytime for videos he said this about 5 months ago in a video
@@MDFishTanks if I knew they’d survive the journey to America, I’d pay whatever lol
So cool acvarium
thank you :)
I would love to see you trying to make an Jurassic tank with Triops and Fairyshrimps!
I dont even know what they are lol. I'll do some research :D
Oh wow! I looked them up and boi! It looks like a moving fossil whatttt
@@MDFishTanks You can look up
Triassic Park Triops here on UA-cam he has some really cool Triops tanks! Your Tanks are awesome always hyped when I see a new video from you!
@@MDFishTanks if you have book fairs in grade school in the u.k thats where you would normally see triops they hatch like sea monkeys but theyre bigger they look like little horseshoe crabs, they have a very short life span most of the time tho fam
Wow... im gona copy this heheheh i like these 11l tanks for 1 betta n tiny tiny snails.
Nice video 👍.
How often do you change water in shrimp tanks ?
Great video! I'm getting ready to do a 2.6 gallon shrimp aquascape with the same dimensions so this was good to see. One thing, that's a Tiger Nerite. I only know because I've nerded out on Nerites recently. The racers stripes look different.
So motivated right now!!! Going to be changing so tanks up now ❤️❤️
We call that simply lovely
Hi MD, Seiryu stones increase the hardness of the water. Hopefully the shrimps will be okay with it.
I know they are neocaridina, not as sensitive as caridina, but be careful.
neocaridina do better in ph up to 7.5 theyll be fine im pretty sure they need a higher one anyways for their shells
Legit wait for your uploads ma man !!
to have all this stuff just on standby must be great
Always beautiful!!!! how long lighting for this tiny ?
hey md , why don't you make a wooden rack for tanks
Where do you get your manzanita wood and rocks like the larger ones used here and river stones I've seen you use
Your beard 🧔♂️ game is 🔥.. 😂 love the Videos
Any plans for a new paladarium setup ?? Love to see a reptile setup on the rack shelf’s !!!
Love nano tanks. That one was great!
Sir, I want to ask: 1. For a 20x20x25 tank, do you need an aerator? There's already a hanging filter...
2. In the morning and afternoon I turn off the lights because there is sunlight, do I need to provide an aerator?
3. I will turn on the lights at night after I get home from the office around 9pm (because I'm in the bedroom, the AC is on 16°C 😅 so I need a light so the water isn't too cold🙈..
4. Fill with low CO2 plants, bright fluorescent fish, guppies, mollies, platties, and ornamental shrimp..
5. The tank is new and will be filled with tap water (in Indonesia, you can't drink tap water because it contains iron and chlorine).
6. what should I do and what do I have for my tank?
wow The tanks are amazing !
Lovely stuff. Update please!
Very nice 👍
where do you take you plants? or how do you make them grow before?
Great vid finally a good video on this tank
Man I have really enjoyed watching your videos great work !!!
You didn't mention at all what sort of maintenance is needed. I see no filter. Can a balance be achieved with out the need for one? what would be the schedule, in general, for water replacements?
That whole rack looks sooooo good🥰
Dude, I'm so happy you posted but I already set up my 2 gallons nano tank and I put a filter in it... will my shrimp be fine?
I'm kinda getting a hard time cleaning it because of the fine sand I believe.
Anyway, I love the tank and thank you for being such an inspiration~ Cheers!
yeah should be fine as long as not high flow.
Could you go slightly diagonal to give more space and depth?
I was just thinking of putting a small tank under my 39 gallon ! This is a sign lol
Love your videos!
im actually working on a setup for cherrys with the same size tank.
Looks epic bud
thank you :)
Your welcome bud. Any chance I can steal you for say an hour to talk over some plans for my new scape.
Be nice to catch up too
You can just plug the air stone into the tubing and it will still siphon. No zip ties needed
MD!! How can you keep water in the tank cystal clear! I’ve been watching your videos and got inspired by one of your fish bowl setup. ain’t got a clue what I’m doing… you guessed it, got myself a fish bowl now, your fault! 😅 somehow can’t seems to keep it clean. I’ve got this brown dust all over my plant at the minute! Maybe it’s the substrate I used, cus it’s brown🤔ah I don’t know!! I’ve been doing 25% water change every two days though🤷♀️🤷♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️😅
