I love the 911 one of my favorite cars ever made but that zr1 needs a driver mod.
For it's price the ZR1 sure delivers some extreme performance. To bad some design elements were too much and cabin quality was not at par with the rest of the car. But the new Vette has fixed all those problems and delivers in all areas. To bad they get so expensive here in Europe, just like Mustang and Camaro. I wish we could by it with the US price. Damn high taxes. Damn.

I was in the car business 22 years. Had many Porsche's and 21 different corvettes...they're both GREAT cars. If you live in Europe youd probably be better with the German car. If your in North America, the corvette hands down. Why? In the US or Canada, Porsche parts are outrageous. Plus many shops cant even repair them at all. Too expensive to maintain. Plus they break down more, especially once the Porsche hits over 120,000km.
A corvette is more cheaply built. Not as refined. But easier to repair and has cheap parts. Plus it can get 200,000 KM easy with minimal repairs.
The GT2 wins with a 3.6L engine compared to the 6.2L of the Corvette... Imagine if the GT2 had a 6.2L... LOL

I was in denial and wanted Corvette to be better but the truth is Porsche is a better car. Porsche is made in Germany and it's the fastest luxury car. The only reason why I pick Corvette over the Porsche is because of the price. Huge advantage. It's like both cars cost the same except on the Corvette, I get a lot of free but limited maintenance and repairs.
This is an old Corvvette, a porsche doesn't stand a chance with my 2015 Z06.
No the ZR1 outperforms the new Z06 to 150mph. You may have him in the quarter but after that the ZR1 going to start pulling. Unless yours is modded, thats a different story then.

There's no such thing as a dual turbo. It's a twin turbo, also I doubt the corvette will be faster than the 991.2 turbo s since it does 0-60mph in around 2.5 or 2.6 seconds and would demolish the vette

And while europeans do tend to poo-poo our cars (just like most of us to with theirs) don't you think it's possible that corvettes just aren't great cars lol that maybe they deserve some of this criticism? People go on about how much cheaper this is than the gt2 plus it's faster in a straight line. But 1) the Porsche handles better, is more responsive, the interior isn't abysmal, like other than straight line performance it's better in most ways and 2) If you had bought a gt2 new and then sold it today, you could buy like 5 vettes : p

12 second ET for the ZR-1? What the hell is wrong with the guy driving that car? The ZR-1 has launch control that will get it to a 10.9 second ET completely bone stock. I think you still do not understand the difference between European cars and American cars. European cars are made by artists who seek to make not only a fast car as well as an extremely high quality car with refined materials. Manufacturers like Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, McLaren exist only to create sports cars. Why I consider their cars a work of art and has its value in the case of 918 - 800k there in USA (Here in Brazil passes 3 million). Already Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge are manufacturers who make all kinds of cars are not just meant for sports cars. These American automakers just follow the needs of Americans: Want cheap car? So we do a cheap car; Want a great car? So we do a great car; Want a fast car? So we do a fast car. I'm not discrediting American cars (I would love a corvette or GT500), but each car has its value. You do realilze the GT2 in this video is already $60k more than the Zr-1? They actually run similar top speeds..but the Zr-1 is actually 0.2ths and 5mph faster in the 1/4 mile than the GT2.

I have a 2011 Porsche 911s and a 2010 Mercedes E63 AMG as a daily driver. I could have bought the ZR1 easily for what i paid for the slower 911s. Sometimes it's not always about speed. It's what the brand carries, the name. Everybody knows German cars cost more money and Porsche costs twice as much as a Corvette. You know how much a 911 turboS cost? They can sell globally and Chevy cannot. I have yet to drive a C7 and don't ever plan to. If it's just as good as a Porsche for half the price so be it. That's not why people buy these cars. So do i care the guy next to me in a zr1 can beat me to next light, of course not and you're missing the whole point. When you actually get to this level then maybe you will understand.

Rolling start was tested on the GT5 board a 911(997) Turbo against a ZR1 (both serial). First run was won by the 911 and the second by the ZR1, because after the first race, the tires were on temperature. Would be interesting to see how the this race works against the new 911 (Type 991) with 560 bhp.

Porsche has a racing heritage that continues to prove itself. Every car they have designed has been designed for good balance to power ratios. They are properly set up performance wise and have a luxury interior to go with it. At no point has Chevy or GM ever beat Porsche in a international racing event. Am I the only one who notices that american car companies don't even compete in international racing leagues? You know why they dont? Because they dont have the technology to compete. They created nascar because they couldnt keep up with the GT1 pro/am class. They created indy because they couldnt keep up with F1. Dont even get me started on the WEC (world endurance racing, where, by the way, Porsche has more wins than any other team) last time I checked, its been a while since an american car placed in the top 5 at a 24 hr race.
Chevy is an american car company that makes shit boxes like the impala and the astoundingly appalling (ill stop here so you can find a dictionary)... camaro. The corvettes have always been mid life crisis cars and have never had the styling or performance to compete with the euros. With the new C7 all they did was the standard corvette formula. average styling with WAY to much power for the chassis and a playschool interior. Everyone says "oh the Z06 is faster than the carrera" Well no shit sherlock your comparing the top of the line corvette to the base 911. Take that z06 and pair it with the turbo S and your totally fucked because the 2015 911 TS does 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. Thats faster than the Mclaren P1 by the way and the top of the line stingray does it in 3.8...
So lets sum it up here.
Porsche: Racing heritage with more WEC wins than any other company whose been building performance cars since the 50s with properly balanced cars with the right power to chassis ratio. Proper suspension set up for track and street. Solid build quality with full leather or carbon fiber or alcantera. And don't forget the performance that goes with the name.
Chevy: Illiterate morons who take a door stop wedge, sand it into a thinner door stop wedge, stick a huge heavy engine in it to fuck up the balance, then tune the shit out of it to try to make enough power to overcome its awful aerodynamics and weight distribution. They never forget to top it off with enough plastic that its preschool friendly. Murica.

The ls2 was rated at 400hp/400lbtq. The ls3 is rated at 430-436hp & 424-428lbtq. I thought the ls 376/480 cam shaft was a separate crate engine? Most vette owners I know if they plan on camming it, they use an ls7 cam.
I simply wasn't aware if gm was installing the 376/480 cam as a factory aftermarket product. Hmmmm.

At a V6 engine the connecting rod have to act in a angle, but in a flat six, alias Boxer engines they work straight 180° and have no force lowering on the angle than a V engine. There fore a Flat six has more engine power, can rev higher and also has more power at lower RPM. Truelly a 911.

QuickScopes2009 now thats complete bullshit.. i've had mates with stroker v8s and supras and over 500whp in EITHER there are always problems.. But the 2jz Stock motor bolt ons had less in this case.. The stroker ls1 spent half its days in the shop, and needed a lot of other upgrades to cope. Cost A LOT more to modify the v8s internals and had more troubles.
The 'reliability' bullshit is void now days as turbo motors are mostly forged. i love my Ls2 v8 but the American 'No replacement for displacement' theory is garbage.
Turbos= displacement replacement.
And dont give me the more room for more hp shit either, rbs, jzs, s50, barra; straight 6 turbo motors are all capable of making 1000hp

I saw a yellow Vette in Frankfurt in 2013 listed for 179,000 euros in a dealer, but can't recall if it was the ZR1 or the Z06, the gt2, have no idea.
if it wasn't selling, they wouldn't keep making newer versions. When is first came out, they did say that if it didn't sell enough, they would eventually drop it after 2 years, but that obviously isn't the case...

You got it completely wrong the 991 Turbo S is capable of doing 2,6 sec 0-62 under perfect conditions. The 997 Turbo s does 0-60 in 3,2 sec at best !

weird. motor trend ran this race on 91(95eu) octane and it blew the doors off the 599/GTR/GT2, on anything less than 93/98 it pulls 7-8 degrees of timing.
The GT2 can be had today for $199,000 and the ZR1 $60,000. I'll take the ZR1 and $139,000 CASH!!

I have in this log two back in July a Lamborghini Murcielago at 3, 889, I have a Ford GT that i don't have the year of the car in this paperwork and we log that one at 3.987. 2012 Corvette grand Sport at 4.455. 2012 Shelby Cobra at 4.423. ZL1 at 4.522. F430 convertible 2007 at 4.002. Now , there is a guy that came with a modified Corvette Z06, 2009 like mine, but modified (twin turbo) and that guy went crazy at 2.890.
Either way, both are smoking beasts.

Another thing MR.Johnny Tran...the F360 with only 29k miles that I bought used few months ago this year, I just replaced the fuel pump that was bad...3,700 dollars for the repair here in Florida...in contrast, my 2009 ZO6 with 42K miles, never been in the shop for any rapair, other than oil changes and a new battery last year...the Vette is the only sports car right there in this planet that you can go thousands of miles and continue and don't break that often...how about that?
