Noodles are only good to play a shot over water and not risk loosing a pro v1
You are spot on! 😆
I'm right there with you, my buddy turned me into them.
Distance, feel and control are fantastic. Stopping power on the green is fantastic.
That's what the Kirklands are for!
Noodles are good balls, i played them for yrs.
@@LetsPlayThru Aren't noodles made by Taylormade?
When you suck as bad as I do, there is no difference between Noodles and Pro V1s 😂
The Maxfli Tour and Tour-X are made by Foremost and have ranked almost equally in a test with ProV-1. You should review them. I game them and they are fantastic
agree. Tour x are a great ball and the price is great.
Agreed. And like the direct to consumers, if you buy them in bundle they are only a little more than $2 a ball. Dicks always has them on sale.
Spot on. I'm not sure he's played the Tour or the Tour X. He might be talking about the Straight-Fli or Soft-Fli. He definitely needs to try the Tour and Tour X balls.
I was going to say basically the same thing about Maxfli Tour X. My current gamer.
Agree. Great ball and price (2 dozen for 60).
Surprised to see Maxfli so low, the tour versions are as good as any top ball I’ve tried.
Suggest trying Maxfli Tour. I switched from Pro V1 with little to no difference in distance or spin. Might change your perception.
Best ball for the money.
Started using Srixon Q Star Tour this year. Drives roll out to places I have never been before. Approach shots and around the greens they act like anything else I've played.
I got a few sleeves of those and they're definitely reliable balls, not the best but for the price you get your moneys worth. You tried the Z Stars? I heard those are better
@@coozieray I have not. Still got a couple dozen or so to lose, then I will check out the Zs. Thanks!
I think the Srixon Z Star is a really good ball. Up to par with Vice Pro. I used those two and the Kirkland. And they are all pretty good quality.
Ive tried a box of the Qs and they were okay. Knew i should of got the Z Stars haha
I've played the Maxfli Tour model and found it compares well against the top tour brands like Titleist.
The tours are 🔥 🔥
Fun fact.... Dean Snell (owner of Snell) designed the first prov1, but also designed noodle, taylormade penta and MANY other golf balls. Essentially... if it's a golf ball, he at least influenced the design in some way. I just ordered the new snell mtbx's. They have a deal on their website right now on the new balls that they JUST released.
Ok I’m going to try this OnCore ball just to see what all the hype is about. Great video!!
Srixon should be at least in the Would Buy category. The Q Star Divide is the only ball I'll buy new.
That is a good ball for sure
One more for the Noodle category: Nitro. Like hitting off-center rocks.
Oh yes, good call!!
I think I am just good enough a ball striker and bad enough a putter that golf ball brands don’t affect my game.
I used to play the pro v1, but I started using the wilson staff triad ball and it was so much better in distance, feel, and spin around the green then the pro v1...
I’ve been loving the Kirkland v2.0 especially for the price, hard to see anything being worth paying that much more
💯
My buddy bought me 4 dozen Kirkland 2.0 balls for Christmas. Love the spinny one hop check check I get around the greens.
@@dbeasleyphx yeah I have a new Vokey wedge and the first time I hit the Kirkland with it the ball ripped back to me, had to adjust my game but it was a positive for once 🇨🇦
kirklands are surprising and i love them!
I’ve heard they spin excessively was this resolved with v2?
You're missing out on Maxfli. you need to give the CG and the cgx and other look. Great value and great performers!
And the TriFli is great at $40 for 2 dozen too! 40 compression and 3 piece ball. I LOVE Maxfli.
You missed the most important category! FOUND balls…they are always pure class!!! If I don’t game them, they go in the shag bag, or at worst, I use them on the range to get a little better sense then a range ball…the most versatile balls ever!!!
Haha, I like it Pete!
Gabe, you are all about stirring up some controversy this week, man! Love it.
As with the golf brands video, I mostly agree with your choices, except for Volvik and Maxfli. Volvik's urethane balls are very good. I like the XT Soft in particular, which is very similar to the Vice Pro Soft or the Taylormade Tour Response. And the S3 and S4 are good ball, although extremely spinny and thus kind of short on distance - similar to the Kirkland or Mizuno tour balls. But they're fine if you don't mind losing some yards with both driver and irons.
Maxfli's Tour and Tour X are fantastic. Not only do they test with numbers nearly identical to their Titleist counterparts, but (according to MGS and my experience) the consistency in quality is practically at Titleist levels. And they're, what, $15 cheaper and run specials a lot. Really one you should try, the Maxflis.
Thanks for the video, Gabe! Enjoying your content as always.
I guess I was just in the mood 🤣🤣
Danial thank you for your input… what is your handicap? Do you play the “x” or the regular?
@@sirkingaling3525 Hovering around 4 at the moment. But that's because of a run of good luck and some good scores. Normally it's closer to 6. I like the regular Maxfli Tour.
Agreed Volvik S4 is a really nice ball
ive only ever hit one pro v1x and i literally hit the most straight far ball ive ever hit normally i drive 230 but that went 270 (age 16)
Sweet!
I wish Kirkland made colored balls, maybe one day
Noodle long and soft are a great 2 pc ball man. I game them often. Mostly Kirkland but I will play noodle or Wilson smart core also.
OnCore, Vice, Callaway, Titlelist, Taylor Made these are my Favorites in that order.
you are right on Gabe, I play the Snell MTB-X and love it.
That’s a fantastic ball
Maxfli Tour X is my ball. I switched from the ProV1X that I’ve played since it came out, about a year ago. As good as anything out there and $60 for two dozen. There are other good, cheaper balls out there, like the Kirkland ball, but none as consistent as the Maxfli Tour balls.
Gabe really digging these type videos can’t wait to see this one.
As you know I have been going through my dad’s bag and a few months ago found two unused tubes of balls. First up,Spaulding Strata balata balls. Took these to the practice green and have never seen a ball land so softly nor stop so,quickly. Next up Dunlop DDH, not a fantastic ball but ok on the range. I was glad to,see the Kirkland rates so highly, they are my go to ball. I cannot tell the difference between them and the Pro V1. Another great video Gabe. PS nice to see a PXG vets and active duty discount; we don’t get that in the UK. Although my dad was wearing a Retired Air Force hat (like me ex RAF) at Quantico and a Marine, in uniform, insisted on buying his lunch for him.
The strata balatas were incredible balls but were so soft they did cost distance and just couldnt keep up. I had a balata putter and almost cried when it broke. Have never felt a softer putter.
@@fuzzybanana3870 I would give up distance for consistency and feel. I cut one in half, elastic wound around a liquid rubber filled core. Just interesting. I bet the putter was soft.
put me in the Maxfli Tour and Tour x camp! I took both Maxfli versions and my regular ProV-1 out several rounds and hit all 3 at my club. Maxfli felt and performed just as well or better than the ProV! Long with the driver, and high spin around the greens. I was honestly shocked at how good they were. Plus the alignment aid was better, and I think the cover was slightly more durable. After 2-3 rounds the Maxfli balls had zero blemishes. Considering you can buy 4 dozen to bring the cost down to 26 a dozen, I'm all in. I'm calling Maxfli the best ball in the market today.
Putting Callaway and srixson in the try category makes this list a joke. Two of the best balls out there.
I play MaxFli Tour and love it. I also liked the Tour X, but decided on the Tour as it felt a little softer. You should put them in your Would Try list and give them a shot. Definitely better than the Meh balls.
I know titleist is a top class ball but was surprised you put it so high after the balance test you did
Lost me with that one… I switched to the 2022 Chromesoft X because of that video. It’d be nice to see My Golf Spy recognize his video and test/share about those unacceptable results.
I don't think putting a brand as a whole in 1 category works, every manufacturer has crap and good balls. Also what you find "bad" a 70 year old might love.
Splitting up the ranges would work better than just saying there so so as a whole package.
I hear you on that. But also it would make for a hour long video :)
The only place where I disagree with you is where you put Srixon. They should be higher. Very consistent balls for any class of golfers.
I am almost 100% in agreement with this ranking. The only change I would make is that I would move the Bridgestone up to the "Pure Class" catergory. I will admit that I am a bit of a homer for Bstone as I have had the pleasure of getting to meet/know the CEO and a couple of of marketing/social media people as well as being fit by their master ball fitter. I guess that is part of what makes them Pure Class in my book.
Those sound like some Amazing experiences! I played Bridgestone for a while, before Vice and then OnCore. Great all around line. Very close to being Pure Class for me.
@@LetsPlayThru I am actually in the Bridgestone commercial for Otto. Here is the link. I am the one in the red shirt shown swinging then talking with Sammy Fu. It was a blast.
ua-cam.com/video/FlYhz1zxSME/v-deo.html
That's so cool you were in the commercial!
TELL HIM TO START SELLING THE TOUR B LINES OVER HERE in the U.S.A.!!!!!
I found an OnCore just off the 17th fairway of my local track - I had been going through a process of trying to "play every ball" and find something to replace the expensive Titleist. I played the OnCore on the 18th and was so impressed I thought it must have been a fluke. So I seriously tried OnCore after that and immediately made it my no. 1 choice, easily...easily as good as the Titleist and so much more ball for the price. way to go guys at OnCore.
I want to get some Oncores, haven’t seen them in Canada.
How do I go about getting some?
I’m using the new Srixons.
I use the Callaway Chrome Soft X LS and LOVE THEM!!!
Try Piper golf balls! You choose based on your game, 4 options. They are DTC, I bought the Blue Ball through Amazon at $25.
I had great results with straight long drives, good from fwy and held its own around the greens.
Volvik S4 is actually a pretty good ball, especially 100 yards and in. I spin the ball too much with my wedges so it's not for me, but I never seen a ball check up so well from 30 - 60 yards.
Noodle belongs in the meh for sure! I started playing golf with noodles so maybe I’m biased.
Thank you for this golf ball review. I have been playing the Maxfli Tour balls all season. I find that they are the most outstanding ball on the market. The price is really great too.
A lot of folks really like them. Glad you found a ball that works for you.
Great video, just one comment, Volvik has an S3 (3 Piece) and S4 (4 Piece), these are the tour level the LPGA pros use, they are just as good as the PV1 line, thank you for the great video, take care
Thanks Louie
Been playing the Kirkland for a few years now - great price and performance. That said, also play the Pro V1 and Taylormade but never bought any of them. Seem to find lots which keep me going. Have you noticed how you can grade courses by the quality of balls you find in the rough. Plenty of Top Flites at my courses and even found a Commando the other day... a blast from the past !
Very true Keith!!
Right, I play Kirkland and whatever I find on the course. Having played dad’s balata balls I have been impressed by how soft;y they land and the stopping power on the green. For a club golfer which balls give best backspin and soft feel off the face?
Kirklands have a Super soft feel. OnCore for me.
@@LetsPlayThru Just ordered a tube of OnCore - will feedback. Not a common ball to find in the UK
Gotta try a Mizuno ball! I love them!
i thought the kirkland balls were only 1$ a piece? looked online at costco and it says 2 dozen for 35$
It's more expensive online. That said, I do think they raised the price in my local Costco to 28.99
for 30 bucks the Titleist Velocity's are my go tos as a casual player. If i were better and didn't lose any many balls, def would have the Pro v1s lol
Ive seen Snells and my buddy has used them sometimes but hes never said anything special about them, surprised with most of the s tier options here. Ill have to try them out! Thanks!
Recently switched from Vice to Kirkland. It was purely a cost decision since golf balls tend to vanish in the desert. Have you heard of LAB Golf putters? Would be interested to see your review on the tech. The tech is phenomenal but the feel is a big hurdle to overcome.
Yes it’s too bad Vice keeps raising prices. I did try my friends LAB once. Interesting for sure.
@@LetsPlayThru i would love to give LAB golf putters a go when their price isn't more than a scotty
I found this video complete garbage, without any real world testing and numbers using a robot to decrease human variables, this video is simply subjective. I have lost all respect for your channel
The Maxfli Tour Balls are rated very favorable which ball are you evaluating
Indeed good. Evaluating the line as a whole here though.
Pinnacle is better than you may think! They are made in the Titleist plant. They’ re good off the driver, 5h, 7i, 9i. Also as good, Wilson Zip and the Precept Laddie! I have been playing these lately as a test. I have been impressed how well they stop off a GW 90-100 yds drop and stop. That’s what I want! Crazy! You should do a three way two piece ball test!
Yup! I love the Pinnacle Rush, feels so strong off the tee box and just soft enough for nice touch around the greens with short irons and amazing value. I seem to never lose em like I lose every other ball haha
Maxfli Tour golf balls are excellent, Callaway supersofts are great for beginners and people with slower swing speeds, so they should be higher, Srixon Z-star balls are pure class as well.
Srixon underrated!
It's not easy to find an objective golf ball review, something I don't personally have a clue about. I know I have a couple of Noodles in my inventory as well as the good ones you have mentioned. Maybe I can play the Noodles when it is likely that they will go into the drink if they are really that bad and won't improve my game. Thanks for the warning, and the recommendations.
Overall, i think we’re in alignment. Only change is that I would move Maxfli to “would try”. Their maxfli tour x balls are actually pretty good. Personally i play those, Snell mtbx, and ProV1x, and all 3 perform the same for me.
Gabe what category would you put the New "Legato LTX 3085 " on this list here..??
At least Would Buy
My two go-to golf balls are Titleist TruFeel and Bridgestone e6.
Where would you rank the muzino golf balls at? Lot of players are startling to play with here where I live.
*I've been testing balls lately as well. Love to tinker. My swing speed has dropped now that I'm 65. Around 85-90. Always looking for more yardage! The other day at the range I hit a ball that went about 10 yards further than my current gamer Bridgestone e12! Today at the course I bought a sleeve to verify my findings and again they went further than the e12, Titelist Velocity and ProV1 by a good 5-10 yards! I usually drive the ball about 220 - today it was 230-233 consistantly! The feel around the green I'll have to adjust too. The Pinnacle Soft (2021) is now my new gamer! I'm just as shocked as you and I was just as doubtful.
For those with a slower swing speed it might just be the ticket! I'm using an SIM2, 9* and the AutoFlex 305 shaft...great combo!
Hey, good for you if it works, Gil. Congrats
Both it and the RUSH are better balls then given credit for!!!
thoughts on cut?
Great video Gabe. For senior golfers with slow swing speeds its pretty simple. The gap between longer and shortest drive will be 6 yards. The longest ball will be Titleist prov1x left dash. However for us seniors its all about 100 yards in. Therefore you need the spiningest ball out there. This happens to be the Kirkland 2.0. Go give them a try.
Smash the like button 👇
That’s a great assessment! 💯
I’d like to see how you rank the Snake Eyes Soft Distance? I’m just getting back into golf after 10yrs off and have been buying these for $10/dozen. They seem good😁
The Wilson Staff 50 Elite golf balls seem to work for me. Even as a beginner, I've noticed that I do a little better with them compared to other golf balls.
My father loves the W/S Balls too. As long as they are working for you, I’d stay stick with them.
I use the Zip by Wilson,,great for my game
I have been playing the 50 Elite for about 3 years now. For the longest time, they had proven to be as good as any of the more 'expensive' balls that are soft and meant for slower swing speeds. But lately I've been a little disappointed. The last 2 dozen I purchased had some 'duds' in the box. Off the club felt OK, but traveled a good 20 yards less than I was used to. Could be just a coincidence, but for now I am switching to Srixon Soft Feel. The feel a bit 'harder' off the club face and putter face, but they do travel a bit further than even my 50 Elites did before I got the boxes with some duds in them.
Good to know. I did try the Snake Eyes Extreme Distance golf balls for fun. They weren't half bad. Rockbottom has them pretty cheap right now too.@@ajankowski2
Yep, I game the Kirland balls..good ball and great value. Love these things! I also love the Titlest Pro V1X but WAY to expensive. Callaway Chrome is another I like but too expensive.
Yes all good choices!
The Titleist and Callaway aren't expensive if you find them in the bushes. I'm always in the bushes so find plenty.
@@dangerone759 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Try the Direct-to-Consumer, Decathlon Inesis Balls. They come in three models.
I would love to try them, but it looks like they are limited to the UK. Maybe someone can send them my way to try.
@@LetsPlayThru: I live here in the states, and I ordered them through the Decathlon site online. Shipping was free if your order is over a certain amount, So I ordered a dozen of each. The 100 is a budget ball all about distance. The 500 is a Would Try type ball, a ball for most normal golfers. The 900 Tour is a Would Buy type ball. Feel is really good...Distance comes up short against the competition though...BUT, not a bad ball overall.
Ah, had no idea that was an option here in the US. Thanks, I'll def check out.
I'd put the Tp5/x in the pure class bucket, but that's me. I'm going between Prov1x and TP5X currently, and occasionally the Tour B XS.
TP5s are fabulous
Love this current series Gabe 😍
I fist-bumped when you put my go-to gamer the Kirkland in the top category. Previously I would play sub-£2 balls like the Callaway Warbird or Srixon Distance, but neither of these come close to the KS 3-piece design and soft covering. I actually played the same ball for 33 holes this week and it was in perfect condition still, before it was dumped in a lake 🤣
Ah those pesky lakes !!
lmao back to reality when you lost it in the lake hahaha
Bridgestone balls are my favorite. I like them more than Titleist tbh.
What is the first responder discount for the PXG 0211’s? $79 per club for retail, do they give more of a discount?
Just received two dozen Snell MTB-X today. Golfing tomorrow and see how they do. Looking to replace my Callaway Chrome Soft with the Snell that is $15 per dozen cheaper but has good performance.
Scrixon's are excellent balls. As are their irons. ZX4 irons you should try and review. AMAIZNG AMAZING irons.
100 percent 👌 Srixon is a perennially underrated brand
@@fullsendfantasy a friend of mine bought the ZX4, can’t believe the difference in his game. I hit them Anna immediately loved them. Unfortunate to expensive for me. 😀
I found the comment you dropped about your wife a bit controversial:
“My wife… a former Marine.”
You can’t be a *former* Marine, unless perhaps you’ve been disgraced.
Once a Marine, always a Marine!
Anyway, great list. I much prefer the softer balls, so was delighted to see Titleist in pure class, with its AVX and TruFeel; and TaylorMade with its Soft Response receiving a favorable mention too.
Love your channel. It’s so chill.
So true how you say, in Golf and life,
It’s not about your previous shot, it’s about your next shot.
You are 💯 right about always a Marine 🙌
Thanks also for the kind words.
I have been playing Oncore for 3 years and now the Vero X1 which is fantastic! I always buy in bulk for a great price!
2 years and still haven’t found a ball I like better. I’m really excited for the Vero X2 later this month.
Great job 👍.
How about Precept Laddie Extreme?
I have used and will always use Wilson Duo Soft It has both distance plus it’s impeccable from 100 yards in.
Currently gaming the TM TP5x. I dont really notice much about it (physical feel), but I seem to have better luck with it around the greens/chipping.
Hey that counts for something!
Why so much hate for noodle genuinely curious? I’ve picked up golfing within the last year and I currently play noodles because I see them as a budget golf ball from a known brand
I just think there are way better budget options. I find the distance and control to be lacking.
@@LetsPlayThru makes sense, might have to pickup some Kirkland signatures from the Costco here in Spain lol thanks for the reply!
@@alexaviles5475 I highly recommend it, Let me know what you think
Love Seed and Srixon, Titleist for the Trufeel.
Love these types of videos!
How do you like the vero x2 compared to the x1? I know you played the prototype and curious on your thoughts
Hi Jason, I’m not finished with all my testing, but I should have a video up in about a week and a half.
Sounds good…cant wait to watch
Before I even start the video: I have worked at multiple golf courses and when I worked there I found so many golf balls that I kept as many as I would ever have wanted and gave buckets away to friends. Always kept and played ProV1. Its been years now and I buy golf balls like any other schmuck. I bought refurbished prov1s for the longest time, but UA-cam videos convinced me to try new balls for more consistency. I started playing Vice Drive balls, $20 a dozen and they have a nice soft feel, not extremely durable but probably won't be long before I lose it anyway! Don't feel much of a difference between those and the prov1s tho, they are soft and playable. I wonder how you will rank them! I'm about to find out!
Let me know what you think 😀
@@LetsPlayThru yeah, I agree 100%, they aren't exactly top of the line, but a guy like me that is typically within 10 strokes of 100 one way or the other its hard to tell the difference between a $1.50 ball and a $4 ball, and they are finding the woods or the water just as often! Major thing is they don't feel like you are hitting a rock, they have a nice soft feel, and I've tried some of the vice pro models, and I think the $20 a dozen vice drive balls feel the best.
I would like to try the new half white/half yellow taylormade tour response though, haven't seen it on the shelves in my neck of the woods yet!
Gamed the Vice's but with the prices increasing.. couldnt justify it anymore. They just arnt that durable and will show wear after sometimes only a few holes for me. God forbid I smoke a tree or cart path. However the lime green they offer? Possibly the best color out there for ease of finding. Its just so different from any natural thing you would find on course. Playing the Bridgestone B RXS and loving them, just wish those were cheaper :\ They are however quite durable.
Yes their whole selling point was they were DTC, But when they started showing up in target and Amazon, the value just wasn’t there for me anymore.
I try different balls. Do I see a difference? Maybe a little but still as a 20 handicapper I play the RZN Speed, Cut Blue (which is not on your list) and Noodle.. did I say Noodle yep hey I like them! My favorite that I have tried is Both Snell and Oncore! Unfortunatly Snell isn't making any balls this year because of lack of material. Oncore well I live in Canada and with the currency exchange the Elixr at 29.99 comes to almost 40.00 a dozen. wish I could get them here. There are few that I would of put elsewhere on your list but hey its all for fun .. and its your opinion and your channel so who am I to disagree lol . Great video and love the video on ball balancing. That was an eye opener. Mark from Montreal Canada
OnCore ELIXR is my go to ball and I also have a few boxes of Vero X1, just in case I get good enough to use a 4 piece ball. I’m generally around 100 mph give or take a few, so the ELIXR is the best choice.
Tp5 and tp5x deserve pure class category
Excuse me!!! No such thing as a former Marine. BTW, great review.
Recrntly bought wilson profile balls. Bogey golfer, not a big hitter, but these balls instantly added good yardage esp with my big clubs. Price is exceptional.
I just bought a box of noodles since it was on sale at the local store. I better exchange them for dozen of eggs.
Bridgestone balls are the only ball I’ll play. Pro V1 is good alternative but Bridgestone balls have the best feel to me.
Wilson Triad and the Staff are legit. Great information and watch!
Just broke 90 for the first time - used a Top Flight until I lost it at hole 15, but man it played well until then.
Bro put callaway at I would try lol
Enjoy the channel. For the uninitiated can you explain why the noodle is so bad? I’m playing the Srixon soft feel which I think is a good balance of price and performance. I’d like to try the Snell and the Kirkland
Totally messed up the Callaway. Pure Class in my opinion. It clearly outperformed performed Titelist in your last videos as well. Doesn’t make sense.
I have been playing the OnCore for a couple years now. Great balls with 3 levels. Avant for slow swing speed and Elixr for tour grade snd normal seing speed and Vero x1 and now x2 for pro level fast swing speeds. Quick delivery with FedEx and great prices. I have about 12 dozen in my possession. A lot of specials where you buy 2 dz and get a dz free
Nice vid, thanks- I hadn't seen anything from your channel before (subscribed). You're right when you say it's a contentious topic and that folks are never going to be in complete agreement on most of this, but I think maybe you jobbed Volvik a bit by basing your thoughts on experience with a blue one (terrible color)...would be interesting to get your thoughts on how the ball plays. Thanks again for producing/publishing this one.
I’m a low handicap “ball snob”.
My main squeez is the Srixon Z-Star. Great ball.
But recently tried the Spaulding SD Tour.
A three piece ball with excellent greenside spin and mid irons stop on a dime.
Caveat? $16 a dozen on Amazon!
Seriously you spinners MUST give this ball a try!
Nitro Golf Balls???
Great video…..I was torn between vice pro, snell mtb and onecore elixir and played them on and off all great balls, but once I tried the vero last summer never went back…such a great ball and they are from my home town so support local company! Keep up the great content Gabe!
Can’t go wrong with all 3, but if you’re from Buffalo, you made the right choice.
Absolutely! Lol
I imagine the PXG balls weren't out at the time you filmed this. Have you tried them yet? If so, where would you rank them? Personally, I really like the brilliant white color and the alignment mark on them. They fly well, but I have had some durability issue with them, which could be just me. It would be great to hear your opinion. Thanks.
