This could sound pretty crazy, but I found my pc at a flea market for just about 25 dollars (500 pesos here in Mexico). It's an i5 4440 with 12 GB RAM and a gtx 645 2 GB. I think they really didn't know what they were sellin :/
I have that cpu as well! :D Hasn't given me trouble paired with a gtx980ti.. I've been able to run games on tripple monitor setup, 5760x1080, with incredibly good results. I love the 4460!
who says that an youtuber needs a good setup to make high quality videos! you, even with a Pentium you've made 1080p60 videos! keep up the good work in 2017!
The man who built my pc inserted the i5 4460, claiming that it has the best price /quality balance of all the CPUs in the market. This video pretty much proves that he was right a year ago and he still is.
so happy you listen to your subscribers and include things that they ask for in your videos.I am talking about the rendering software benchmarks.Anyways really nice video as always keep it up!!!!!
Giuliano Lopez Raffo I hate mediocre responses. What game do you speak of? A 1070 is a 1440p or better card. A powerful enough graphics card will run away from the cpu. You got it backwards a 4460 will bottleneck the 1070.
Damn dude that's a pretty good score! Also yea it came out of my brother's old Gaming PC that I got from him, sadly the Z77 board that came with it was dead :(
TechGuide That's a pretty good deal. I would say go with a 3570k but a decent z77 board would cost upwards of 75 dollars. So if you don't care about Overclock ing then go with that
Great video. I was actually in the same situation about this time a year ago. I had the pentium at 4.2ghz on my Asrock h97m anniversary paired with a r9 270. I loved the performance, but was worried about how it'd fare in the newer more CPU bound titles. So i picked up a brand new i5 4690k for $200 at the time being a $50 off sale on black friday. I was originally going to get the 4460, since my mobo can't OC, but when i saw the price difference and since the 4460 was never really getting any sort of price cut I went with the 4690k. That jump from Pentium to i5 was amazing. Gaming performance skyrocketed in my favorite titles and I eventually passed my video card down to my brother and upgraded to the r9 380. I really enjoy your youtube channel because you're down to earth. You're not some sponsored techie that gets every new 12 core i7 or xeon chip on the market. You actually have to do these sorts of things on a modest budget. Keep up the great work and I can't wait to see more of your content in 2017.
got a new computer with a Ryzen 2600x 4ghz all core and a rx 580 nitro plus., I even tried to pop my old 750ti in my new computer and it performed so much better. This CPU is definitely outdated sadly
why do you say "we" and "our" and "us" when talking about testing, but when talking about your system or how much you paid or where you are/were/went etc you say i/me
Man I remember when you had 3k subs and now you're pushing almost 75k! The videos are awesome and I enjoy watching them as new ones keep coming out. Keep up the amazing work man! Cheers!
ropert wonger65 I plan on it eventually. For now the 750ti runs everything i play perfectly, gta5 very high-high no vsync 60fps usually, with dips from 58-46. league of legends, the usual. Also runs the Friday13Beta pretty well, as i've been playing that with my friend.
Dex4Sure meeeehhhh idk what you're talking about ;) but yeah once i upgrade my graphic card it'll be more powerfull, but at the moment, i have the superclocked 750ti so it's actually not as weak as your typical 750ti
kenny ricardo the i5 4460 does not have an unlocked multiplier but he could overclock it if he gets a motherboard that allows for base clock overclocking
RandomGaminginHD I just want to ask which gaming laptop is good at £700 which I think of buying when I go uni. At uni I won't be needing a custom built PC as I am going to do computer science.
RandomGaminginHD Can u do a video on the 9800gtx from nvidia which was released almost 10yrs ago? I heard that it is still a great card for gaming! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
It's how people that are in a company address themselves, even if it's only run by themselves. I guess UA-camrs often think of their channel as a kind of company too (they do make a decent amount of money of off it and even make it their job if they get big enough). I find it kind of awkward sounding too tbh.
Same motherboard!!! I know i didn't go wrong if you use it!! Thanks for being such a great channel and I am excited to see your content throughout the new year.
I own this CPU, paid just over 200$ (new) CAD for it, and it hasn't let me down. Running a GTX 750 Ti 2gb with it, i can stream on twitch easily and have no real issues. Running an MSI B85 board at 16gb of ram. It is a great budget 1100$ (now more cause upgrades etc) starter rig if you are looking for something budget and game-able. Only issue I find is in high demand (booting/rending large items) it tends to bottleneck and hit 100% rather easily. Overall good CPU and love the review of it!
My own testing using afterburner shows that this CPU will slightly throttle a 1060 but not by much. The average figures in afterburner have GPU usage at about 75% when the 4460 is maxed out. Despite that I don't think I want to spend any more on this last gen socket so any upgrade will need to be either free or transferrable to this systems eventual replacement. I might investigate the 4460's overclocking potential to try and claw back some of that performance disparity. Great video as usual.
Love your videos man! I learned a lot from you and now i want to build a 400€ PC but i don't know what to buy new parts or used ones. Your setup is very impressive ! Keep up the good work and happy new year!!!!
Hey RandomGaminginHD i've been here since 23k subs i would just like to say that i love you're videos and you have come a long way keep up the good work sorry for bad english
So, it was you that brought the last i5 4460 from Cex around new year! I was looking at buying that too and ended up having to get the i5 4440 instead so not a huge difference but overall better than the FX8350 that it replaced in gaming!
rapidly becoming my favorite tech channel.. even though i have a vastly superior system to anything you show, i still love the idea of doing it on the cheap, cos that's where most of the PC gamers started... just scraping together parts bit by bit on a budget. bravo sir! keep up the good work.
Right now in Microcenter (here in the US), you can get the i5-4590 for $159.99. With that said, the price you paid for that i5-4460 is awesome. Personally, I wouldn't buy used when it comes to PC parts unless it's from someone I personally know.
Great Videos, I am looking into PC gaming and have been out of the Tech for a while. You help sooooo much with your budget builds and stats when comparing to modern PC Games. I love it all! Keep up the great work :-)
I like it how you focus on thrifty, el-cheapo builds. This is what I personally do (the builds, I don't make videos). I like how you compared this chip to the i3-6100, which is the exact chip I bought. I'm personally not into the "latest and greatest" but rather, much like yourself (I think?), the best value components. I see no need to spend more money on components than is necessary to get the job done. An i3-6100 plays Fallout 4 at 1200p/60Hz just fine. I got the i3-6100 for a specific reason, and it was that the 1150 socket has been abandoned. The 1151 socket is the one with the open upgrade-path, so since I needed to buy a motherboard, I went with a socket that I could later upgrade the CPU for once the top-end chips for that socket went el-cheapo as well. I understand your factors were different, as you already had a mainboard. Keep those thrifty videos coming!
you did pretty good! i picked up an intel core i5-haswell Engineering sample locally (didn't know what they were until after i bought it) for 99 dollars. 2.6ghz normal 3 turbo. runs everything beautifully. LGA1150 ES QD4C B0
I just sold my old 4460. I sold it for a bargain price too. 160 Canadian. very good return. It still had a year of warranty on it too on top of it. I myself upgraded to an OEM i7 4770. I paid about 400$ for that back at the end of 2014. Glad I could share the gaming performance. IMHO the 4770 isn't too different gaming but renders videos much quicker.
RandomGaminginHD yea no prob and do you think maybe we can do a collaboration or something cuz I'm trying to get more subs on my channel Thanx either way you rock dude :)
Dude Score!!! that's a cool deal :D been looking at these cpu's to upgrade from a q6600 core 2 quad platform to something a bit newer and more powerful :)
Great video as usual! I think the upgrade path was good. Going from 2 to 4 cores doubles your processing power. I've always doubled. 1 to 2, 2 to 4, 4 to 8. Hoping to snag a new zen chip to go to 16 once it drops to about the 350$ mark. Probably 2 years from now. 8 is still more than enough for anything I'm doing now.
Good bargain. 4th intel are the sweet spot. Anything passed that is small incraments of performance. I have an i7 4770k.. And only payed 25 dollers for a brand new lenovo motherboard that take 32gb of ram at 1600 mhz. 4th gen cpu also use very little power. I wish your channel much success with your new rig.
still using g3258 and it's a good benchmark for me. just need to upgrade my GPU though. 1050ti could be a good budget of choice considering i do not play demanding games like what we have here. thanks mate. worth it to subscribe to you. ;) cheers! haopy new year.
I have this chip in my gaming/editing PC, and am also very happy with it. It replaced a very (verrrry) tired Phenom x4 965 black edition. Unfortunately, I didn't think to benchmark them both to see the difference, and tbh, I didn't notice a huge difference, even though I know there is a not unsubstantial speedup. Actually, the 965 might make a pretty solid video, Mobo's for them are dirt cheap, and the chip its self has never been all that expensive, I can't imagine that's changed any.
I had a i5 4440 with a gtx 760 and 8gb or ram until about a month ago, was a capable machine that lasted me ages. Played lots of modern games on high at 1200p and pretty much a solid 60fps, GTA 5, MGS 5, Dark Souls 3, Dying Light, Far Cry 4, Battlefield 4, Tomb Raider.
Bizarre coincidence that I've been looking at Haswell i5s recently too! I'm hoping to upgrade from an i3-4130 to an i5-4690 to relieve the bottleneck on my GTX 970
I am keeping an eye on your subs, you are earning 1k subs a day, on Friday you had 71k, on Saturday you had 72k, and now Sunday you have over 73k crazy.
Great deal, I'm stuck with my G3258 and it's bottlenecking the shit outta my 960 4gb. You can't play Titanfall 2 or many other modern games as they no longer support dual-core cpu's. So keep that in mind if you're building a budget PC. I cheaped out on my CPU and went overkill on my graphics card and now regret my decision.
Thats a great upgrade over the Pentium. I got my i5 4430 for $100 USD that now lives in my HTPC with a 970 and get constant 60 fps in every game I run.
i love this cpu i got it last year in December i did pay 210 € for it but i dont regret even 1 cent paying for it, it brought me such a satisfying gaming experience never had problems even at newer games with my R7 260x 2gb Sapphire still rocking this setup today dont really see a reason to upgrade except the gpu
That was kind of expensive I must say. I bought the i7 2600k, p67-motherboard and 2x4Gb ddr3 and a fractal design r4 about 2 years ago for 178gbp. It's better to go with a unlocked cpu with 8 threards than a slightly newer i5. A few of the first DX12 titles shows that 4 threads isnt enough causing drops in performance. Take a look at gears of war 4 as one example... Keeping in mind you dont have a motherboard supporting overclocking, I still would have tried to get a i7 for the same price you paid for the i5. I dont know where you order your stuff... I'm from sweden and here we have a few entusiast forums where you can get great stuff for low prices. But of course, you will have too look around for a while to get the best deals. Anyways, I really enjoy your channel. Keep up the good work! :)
too bad you aren't finding a $110 i5 4460 here in the states, I've been trying to hunt a cheaper one down for over 5 months. You have to be lucky like some you youtubers to be able to get these deals. My other pc also uses the G3258, while great. I wanted better too :) nearly all the listings for this cpu in particular are $140 and up and always reach $140 or more through bidding. Even though it's $30 or more to get it. My eyes could then be set on skylake instead. A i5 6400 can be had for $170 ish. Not here to down your channel or anything, your content is great. And I love the content you make and effort you go through to bring us this stuff.
A good CPU choice that will still last you a long time! I'm hoping my 6600K will last me hopefully around 5 years from now. And I have that exact CPU cooler in my PC too! Hyper 103 exceeded my expectations greatly!
Happy new year everyone, thanks for a great year on UA-cam
RandomGaminginHD BRO WE HAVE EXACT SAME SETUP!😀

zZZ ZETA ZZz addictive voice what are you gay
zZZ ZETA ZZz i5-4440 is 120$ worth it ?
badis ghouila I would think so if you're looking to upgrade from the g3220, the performance increase from haswell to Skylake was not that great.
This could sound pretty crazy, but I found my pc at a flea market for just about 25 dollars (500 pesos here in Mexico). It's an i5 4440 with 12 GB RAM and a gtx 645 2 GB. I think they really didn't know what they were sellin :/
You got to check out the stupid low prices if you see them
they knew they were selling a piece of sht😂
Why is everyone talking about my cpu now?!
What I find is that there are a LOT of cheap Intel CPUs, but finding the motherboard can often be tricky with all the different sockets.
There are new lga 1150 motherboards, that are very cheap and support locked CPUs. They are often more worth buying than used boards.
you don't need to say "personal pc"
pc= personal computer!!!job done😂😂
oh and also happy new year 😀😀

RandomGaminginHD omg you answered I love your channel and I know that you put a lot of time and effort into it

Great video dude , you earned a sub from me . I wish you also a Happy New year and all the best in the 2017!
Nikola Raseta thank you :)
Whatcha talkin about fam ? :)
I have that cpu as well! :D Hasn't given me trouble paired with a gtx980ti.. I've been able to run games on tripple monitor setup, 5760x1080, with incredibly good results. I love the 4460!
who says that an youtuber needs a good setup to make high quality videos! you, even with a Pentium you've made 1080p60 videos! keep up the good work in 2017!
p.s. I need some recommendation, what should I upgrade first:
cpu - i3 4170 3.7ghz
or
gpu - GeForce gt 740 2 gb
thanks!
Father_Grigori oh thx
I'd rather get a rx470 than a gtx1050ti

The man who built my pc inserted the i5 4460, claiming that it has the best price /quality balance of all the CPUs in the market. This video pretty much proves that he was right a year ago and he still is.
It is nice for you to include such Cinebench benchmarks and rendering benchmarks , keep up with the great job man :)
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
xd 2018 now
so happy you listen to your subscribers and include things that they ask for in your videos.I am talking about the rendering software benchmarks.Anyways really nice video as always keep it up!!!!!
Damn now you have a better computer than mine, same processor but better GPU(GTX 960).
Wait I have double the RAM but that makes little difference right now.
Install an rx 480 or spend a bit more and get a 1070.
Transistor Express at 1080p a 1070 would bottleneck the i5-4460.
alaskanhybrid No the 1070 doesn't bottleneck the i5 4460 at 95% of the current games.
Giuliano Lopez Raffo I hate mediocre responses. What game do you speak of? A 1070 is a 1440p or better card. A powerful enough graphics card will run away from the cpu. You got it backwards a 4460 will bottleneck the 1070.
dude your videos getting better and better. Keep up the good work!
also I was lucky and got an i5-3570k for free :D
duPlo that is a good deal haha
RandomGaminginHD Got an i5 3470 for just 60 € (about 50 pounds) FeelsGoodMan
Damn dude that's a pretty good score! Also yea it came out of my brother's old Gaming PC that I got from him, sadly the Z77 board that came with it was dead :(
duPlo Is an i5 2400 for 80 bucks a good deal?
TechGuide That's a pretty good deal. I would say go with a 3570k but a decent z77 board would cost upwards of 75 dollars. So if you don't care about Overclock ing then go with that

I have one too and I love it that me and you share the same CPU.
TheDarkRaptor I have the same CPU and 1060 like he does but mine is the 6gb. Now I'll know exactly what I can run haha
I have an i7-6700k & still watch these videos :) very interesting content !
you did pretty good! i picked up an intel core i5-haswell Engineering sample locally (didn't know what they were until after i bought it) for 99 dollars. 2.6ghz normal 3 turbo. runs everything beautifully.
LGA1150 ES QD4C B0
I'm going to buy this one too! Thanks for this video
happy new year :)
I paid about 180€ for my i5-4460 and it's still much more than capable for gaming and multitasking of all kind. Happy new year!
Happy New Year dude! Wishing sucess in 2017!!!
dude I remember not too long ago you had 25,000 subs and now you're on your way to 100,000!!!! Good job and keep it up!! ;v
PlayTech thanks man
RandomGaminginHD yea no prob and do you think maybe we can do a collaboration or something cuz I'm trying to get more subs on my channel Thanx either way you rock dude :)
I wish your channel much success with your new rig.
happy new year!!
love this channel. Keep it up
Happy new year!
still using g3258 and it's a good benchmark for me. just need to upgrade my GPU though.
Actually, the 965 might make a pretty solid video, Mobo's for them are dirt cheap, and the chip its self has never been all that expensive, I can't imagine that's changed any.
happy new year my friend
I had a i5 4440 with a gtx 760 and 8gb or ram until about a month ago, was a capable machine that lasted me ages. Played lots of modern games on high at 1200p and pretty much a solid 60fps, GTA 5, MGS 5, Dark Souls 3, Dying Light, Far Cry 4, Battlefield 4, Tomb Raider.
great video! I've been thinking of upgrading my core i3 4130 to this for a while now
I have the i5-4460T in my system and I can confirm these Haswell i5's are really really nice.
Another great vid man!!!
you literally made this a day after i considered getting one for a budget pc. this isnt the first time youve done this. i call mindreading
