Hi! I am!! I would like to try and combine these 2 programs.. but my sketchup model doesn't get imported fully and correctly. Lots of bits and pieces wrong or missing. I'm using 4.27 and have used your 4.27 tut as well. Maybe unreal 5 might be better with the direct link you think?
its more complicated but the possibilities are endless. imagine creating a gamelike experience of a project where your client can walk through the project fps style and click on action buttons to open a door, turn lights on and off, or maybe pick up objects. massive potential for an immersive experience.

I'm all ..."dang i gotta go change my pants again" giddy excited over this UE5 thing now. I'm fresh off AutoCAD and SketchUp going into UE5 without a clue, but thinking it is all the solutions to everything SketchUp was in ways limited. I'm in an office with guys nearly half my age who've been c++ students for years and Maya and Blender and Houdini users who are baffled by a lot of what UE5 does or even how to do it. Yes, more tutorials for Sketchup and UE5 would be greatly appreciated. I would like to see a tutorial on the live link aspect between SKP and UE5. Thanks for all the work you do. Art in Seattle
Yes I can feel you. My datasmith plugin in SK isn't working. Only gives me ONE button not several like in his tutorial. Between SK and UE 5.3 it creates bizarre .datasmith files that don't show up at the end. So I try with fbx but 75% of my file (in this case a three storey building do not show up in UE. So frustrating to have close friends who at least dabble around between the two software here in YVR. Even in the game industry people seem not to be into UE and use many proprietary software in the studios and I don't know many in the field.
You are very informative. I've used your video's to learn so much. Thank you for this one, you've upd my drawings by 500 percent. As an underdog in my field, you've help close so many gaps. I believe I'm at there level now because of you. Thanks Justin. Sub request acquired. Get those subs man. You deserve it.
Actually You can simply render an image with a few clicks in UE. Just click the small 3 lines button on the left of prespective button. Then, click high resolution screenshots. New window will pop up automatically for the high resolution screenshots settings. Then just click create or something like that. UE will notify you where the image is placed in your folder
Thanks for your the quick Intro Tutorial, I have been using UE+SKP for over one year but didn't find any tutorials for getting real organized with sketchup Datasmith. It would be great if you show us how to handle large scene with datasmith and how to update easily from sketchup ... and some tips about visual dataprep.
Nice introduction! I'd like to see more UE videos mainly because it's free for the use I need it and from what I see on the internet it has a lot of potential in Architectural rendering.
So much technology to catch up on. In a world of micro transactions and software lease payments all these free to use programs are awesome and incredibly powerful now. Imagination is the limit ...but now theres also a plethora of ai programs to help with ideas to get over a mental block. What a world.

Im haveing an issue, when I re-open the saved unreal project my sketchup model wont sync and update when I change stuff. How can I re-sync the sketchup model to unreal?
I appreciate you going through every step of the process. Do you think this is a relevant way to create animated showcases of architectural designs from sketchup or is vray superior?
Thanks very much for this video! Recently I’d been wondering about using UE with Sketchup but hadn’t had time to look into it. Would definitely be interested in more videos on this subject.
heyy Justin thank you for posting so much good helpful and useful tutorials! I was wondering are you planning on doing the all new 2022.2 twin motion? ;P
They're for different things. Unreal Engine is more for creating games, experiences, walkthroughs, etc, while Blender is a 3D modeling program with rendering and animation built in
I designed a simple geometry in SketchUp and tried to import a UE5. But, I get an error as ''Cannot find static mesh''. Do you have any idea why I got this error?
hi justin quick question, if you have free time can you do video- re update the 3dmodel from SketchUp. for example: I have project I already did the materials, camera scene, etc. and the client ask me to change the size of wall or major changes in 1 area. is there any best way and easy to re update the model, without re editing the materials and camera scene again? Thank you.
A quick question, would you say it's easier and able to reach similar quality for just using enscape/all other rendering plugins (for both capturing 1 single frame & making a walkthrough) than exporting to unreal engine to do all this? (I know there are a bunch of benefits for exporting to unreal but I'm not counting those)
Generally yes at the moment. The game engines are just set up...differently right now, and they kind of require some technical knowledge to work with. Rendering engines are designed to be a little easier for the non-programmers to use
I'll try this since when i export models from sketchup as OBJs or FBXs the mesh isn't following the actual model i can see. My spheres aren't rolling properly because they have invisible mesh poking out for exemple. edit: it doesn't support sketchup 2023 yet so i'll wait and see if they update it soon.
This is awesome :) Simple and really helpful ! But could you make add some details, like should the element in Sketchup be saved as Groups?` how to add collision to the import in UE ?
