    I was adjusting floats on my holley every other weekend. The fix was an Elderbrock carb.

    This man sounds just like me. Ticked off having to work on a different thing than what I started on. This was a big help though on troubleshooting my carb.

      Us too. Much more presence with the new Precision Exhaust. Still need to get the tail pipes sorted.

    I have a Holley 4 barrel on the HO 302 engine that a previous owner put in the 66 F-100. After I bought it 2 years ago it ran worse, turned out that the secondary fuel level was way low, affecting the idle, etc. I learned how to adjust the levels but had to buy a little Holley kit just for the float adjustment with new gaskets. I use Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas tank. I wonder if that would help things like sticking needle and seat as it is good to lube.

      Dunno if the marvel would stay lubrious< my word...to do a job.

    I have run into the o-rings on the needle/seat sets that come in the rebuild kits you get in the performance section of Orielly's/Autozone being bad.

    Just a possible guess Jeff, could it be a bad relay for the efi on the suburban, where it could run until the relay gets hot then fails?

    I have had some experience with the tbi, check your fuel pressure. If memory serves me, it’s 13psi with a minimum of 10. I’ve also seen the ECMS give issues as well. GM actually had a smack test, lay the Ecm in one palm, and smack the crap out of it with the other, then see if it would run. True story. Those ECMS are cheap and we’re at one time readily available. I’ve also had problems with the coils going open when it gets hot. If it’s an OEM coil, I’d say replace it just for good measure at this point anyway. Craziest thing I found with my sons recently, doing a fast and dirty test, it had spark, but it wasn’t sufficient spark. Cars drive me crazy, we’re just gluttons for punishment. 😂

    When you replace a needle/seat remember to apply a drop of oil on the O-ring or it could tear cause they are tight when new.

    Ever had one intermittently drip from the secondary boosters at idle?

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  3 роки тому

      Nope. But I would suspect a vacuum issue of some sort.

    Dear Jeff and cam thankyou for this awesome saterday tech tip hahha. Can you tell us what you guys use to raise Rpm when the Aircon is switched on since i did not see the soilnoid on the carb in this video or iam i mistaken

      Holley offers an A/C solenoid: Holley carburetor parts, Holley 46-74, Holley 20-9. The Cleveland doesn't seem to mind it so much with the Sanden, I would recommend one with the stock style for a Ford though.

    Another problem with holley flooding is air bleeds ,the 4 little holes on each side on the top of the carberator they can get clogged and act just like a needle and seat problem

    Diagnostics can be a nightmare.
    On my truck i have a random vacuum drop & power valve opens & it won't even move .i have changed literally everything but the intake manifold & piston rings & it still seems to be happening. & i doubt all the rings are sticking at the same time.
    Im literally changing the intake as i type 🤞

    I had a problem similar to your suburban. It would idling all day, but if you started to drive it it would stall out after a few minutes. It had a pussy willow stuck in one of the fitting of the fuel line. You might have an obstruction in your fuel line as well.
