Man I was walking through Ikea with my wife and heard music playing. Couldn't find out where it was coming from but it was slapping hard. We walked up on the lamp and was blown away by the sound coming from it.
Stereo pairing for HomePod has always seemed a bit odd to me considering it does have omnidirectional sound, but I suppose it makes a bit of sense if you have them on a desk or entertainment center.
Ollie kind of difficult since IKEA went out of their way to make the bulb housing only fit candle bulbs. So it’s either Hue smart bulbs (which need a hub) at premium prices or IKEA branded smart bulbs (also need a hub) at cheap prices. That’s it. Literally 2 choices down from the usual dozen or so were they to have supported normal A19 bulbs
Love your videos which are very informative. Q for you if I may, I'm looking to buy a second HomePod so I get stereo sound for my Apple TV as I like the design and sound it performs and would be a nice set to my deco. Would you say go for it... or wait as they maybe improve on the current model or just will launch a small model, but will remain to sell the current model alongside it. Your opinion would be great. Thanks
Sorry regardless of sound I find the IKEA Lamp/Sonos is just ugly-and I like a lot of IKEA things. And if you are going to use an app for other music, etc--just use your Apple device and airplay.
Hmm...Even accepting this limited comparison but why no wider perspective? Personally I rather go old school and connect my devices to a receiver connected to a nice set of speakers. The sound beats the Apple HomePod and IKEA Symfonisk. BTW - When is Apple ever going to upgrade poor SIRI's intelligence and knowledge base? If I was, say a student, I'd had to opt for the best voice interface first then find good sound like an Echo Plus and add on an Echo Sub at a later date or a Sonos One. IKEA, what's with the lamp? What if one doesn't need another lamp?
I came really close to buying the Sonos-IKEA speaker lamp. I just the $180 is a bit too expensive. I already have an Echo device. I do have a $30 ikea gift card. Lol 😂
Buy the Sonos. The Ikea thing, in typical Ikea fashion, looks super cheap.

It just about is a Sonos. Look at the tear-down of the normal Symfonisk vs the Play 1. Exactly the same circuit board. Same tweeter. Different woofer but same size and likely all made in the same factory and may not really change much at all. It even do carry the Sonos brand. I don't know if the lamp version is any different except for the lamp part though. One technical difference is that the Symfonisk support AirPlay too. If the Play 1 would be something you'd want it would make little sense to not buy the cheaper IKEA branded one.

The homepod fills the room and empties the wallet .. I'd stick with the one that looks like a lamp... Clever idea and sounds good
What about HomePod mini vs symfonisk bookshelf speaker? Both are 99 dollar but which sounds better? If you don’t need Siri support
Do you know if I can buy 2 lamps and pair them in stereo with my apple tv?
Can you use both as Stereo left and right
Does anyone know how many drivers are in the ikea?
And the price
I love the Sonos lamp speaker it so nice and got great sound
At 1:04 what is the thing on the counter top with the weather on it ? Looks clean
What about price difference?
Apple channel? =P
Their Pricing is almost the same for Christmas in the us. Symfoniks $175, HomePod $199
@@kurartem the homepod is $299 not $199 from apple.
What the hell!!! Why don't you show us playing and have an opinion on it???

What's the voltage for it?
It'd be an instant buy if the lamp worked with HomeKit.
Paul put a HomeKit compatible bulb in it and it will

Which case are you using?
Does it work with Smartthings allowing custom voice responses in home automations like Sonos does with Smartthings?
I’ve got the Ikea speaker that is available in Italy and it’s even cheaper than the Apple HomePod that is not even available here yet!

I prefer the HomePod far more!
Why not 2 IKEA Symfonisk Lamps as a stereo setup? Almost same price as one Apple HomePod.

Almost as ugly as the AirPods and the AppleWatch!

I agree. Maybe without the fabric cover it would look more like the Ikea style.
They look similar but one looks more like a lamp. World class comparison right there
Thought this was meant to be a review of the IKEA speaker. It's more like a promotion video for the Apple speaker.
We have reviews of both of the new IKEA speakers already :-) just check the channel!
Nice video

The not-a-lamp-speaker is much cheaper.
Sorry, I just want the red Libratone Zipp mini behind you. 😆
Correction! Zipp mini 2! 😉
In italy we don’t have chance no speaker available for italian language... shit

Too powerful? Jeremy Clarkson doesn’t compute
If only Siri actually worked.

You have sum of your information wrong. do your research before you lie to your audience! Obviously you’re going to favor the Apple product Mr.Apple.
terrible review..
Whew. That’s good because this ISN’T a review. We posted the review already as a separate video. This is a comparison. As the title says.
