His Ibanez guitar is custom-made, and he installed a sustain switch on it to get that long feedback from a note. Then he can manipulate it with the whammy bar.
Dave LaRue is an amazing bassist, you would really enjoy listening to some of the work he has done on Steve Morse's albums
Responding to Jon's question, it was harmonics that blended into feedback that Joe could play with. Somehow he was getting crazy feedback that night from his monitors and guitar pickups. Coupled with the harmonics, he could still manipulate the pitch with his tremelo bar. - David S.

The Bass guitarist is Stu Hamm, have a listen to his album "Radio Free Albemuth" Joe plays guitar on the track called "Flow My Tears" Also his second album "Kings Of Sleep" he plays with two very good session Guitarists, Enjoy.
In this performance the bassist was Dave LaRue, not Stu Hamm.
Observations considering the way Joe executed this number along side the sonar effects
8:55 - 8:57: "Standard song had ended but I am about to set this place on fire" dance (us: Joe:😁)
9:57 - 10:18 Orgasmic Phrasal. So all this while the guitar had been "speaking" normally not until he ate that Gspot, speech slurred et al. Notice how the guitar recovered to normalcy (from all that "tears" of joy ) as he put down the guitar from his mouth. I would argue even a human would react the same way, that's why it seems so relatable. 🙈☺

That'd be Jeff Campitelli, one of Joe's long time drummers for many of his live shows and studio albums. Joe and Jeff were in a band together before Joe began his solo career!
