ASMR - 5 Min. Mental Health Break - Drawknife Woodworking

- Grab your headphones and take a 5 minute mental health break with this ASMR drawknife video I filmed. It's just the great sound of slicing wood off of a hickory handle. I get so much relaxation from this process and I bet around the holidays, family gatherings, work stress, you can take 5 minutes to yourself and relax also.
Best viewed on a phone because it's filmed in the vertical. From my analytics 98% of the subscribers view my page from their phone so I figure the vertical would be okay.

Thanks for watching
You have great skill with a drawknife! I really appreciate your videos. Is this hickory? I can’t seem to avoid tearout with hickory. Any tips that would help?
Thanks for watching! Almost every handle I do has some kind of tearout. This one in fact tried a couple times. In the worse cases I reverse the direction of my pull if I see a tearout begin. If i keep getting them I eventually just switch to an aggressive rasp to finish the job. It's a little slower but I use rasp after all drawknife starts anyway. Also check your depth of your cut. If it's shallow your tearout won't be too bad anyway. Good luck.
Hope you and your fam had a great Thanksgiving boss!
Thanks! You too!
I cast you tube onto my TV so this looks like a really old show before wide-screen 😅👍
haha. I remember those days!
What grit did you take that to? It looks so smooth
Probably 320

Hey what's your take on soaking handles in blo for extended periods of time ?
I imagine it pretty good. The oil only penetrates so far though.
@@StumptownAxes what is your preferred method
@@townieoutdoors8121I normally put a couple coats on and left it dry. Then put on wax and let that dry.
