Welcome to Project Tea Cup vlog #3! I might have to make these more frequently because, by the third vlog, we've already finished the first draft 😅 Hope you all enjoy the vlog! 💛 A Year In Tokyo: An Illustrated Guide and Memoir ✨ bit.ly/3CjjBTz Behind the scenes writing updates, bonus videos and our book club: www.patreon.com/christyannejones
“Denouement” is what she said at 7:48 if you didn’t quite understand and if you were like me reading the captions going ”wth is a day-new-month?!” Lol. Denouement is a French word that literally means the action of untying, from a verb meaning to untie. The English word is pronounced like the French: day-noo-MON and is the final outcome of the main dramatic complication in a literary work. Congrats on your progress and thanks for taking us along!! :)
this is so inspiring! as someone who started my story almost 4 years ago and only picked it back up last week, this is a much needed breath of fresh air. so thank you :)
Congratulations, Christy! This makes me so happy for you, while also inspiring me to get back to writing :) I very rarely (practically never) comment on UA-cam but your videos fill me with so much joy, this one in particular, that I just wanted to send some joy back to you, so I've just joined your Patreon! Best of luck with the second draft, and with everything. Warmly, Cath
i absolutely love watching your writing videos. i am 17 and this month i have only really got into wanting to write and finding that motivation can be really hard especially because i have a health condition that stops me from being able to write for long periods of time due to fatigue. your videos are always so cozy which is another reason why i love them
It was so lovely to see you conquer this milestone! But also, it made me so happy that you made a little disclaimer at the end, reminding people to take it easy and not overwork themselves. Well done Christy, you deserve it! ^-^
I just discovered your channel and have been catching up on Project Teacup. I had to leave a comment because as a writer, I find your videos inspiring. I love how you show your writing process. I feel so much better about my disjointed process from seeing you take realistic breaks. I appreciate that you show how you deal with bad days by doing other work. Thank you for uploading these Vlogs! :)
Watching you write and finish your drafts made me feel extremely emotional and teary eyed. Thinking back to watching your first painting videos...that girl with her dreams of being an author and do something creative for work. And now look at you! You're finishing up a novel. You wrote a book with graphics about your favorite city in the whole world. I know you don't know me personally but if you did you'd know how much of a long distance friend you are in my mind, which means I feel such pride in all of your accomplishments...both big and small. But this! This feels like such a huge deal! I cannot freaking wait to read this 💚🍁🍄
My friend sent me your videos and I'm so glad I did because I'm learning so much about how I consider my expectations for writing. I'm in exactly the same boat as you where I've hit the 20-25k wall and feel stuck and have recently restarted, so I was really happy to see it wasn't just me. And now with this video, it's made me realise I keep thinking my first draft needs to be a fully complete, fully readable draft that I could give someone, when in actuality, it can be finished but have holes and unwritten bits, because that's what draft 2 is for! So now I'm feeling really inspired, so thank you for this series! ✨
I'm writing the first draft of my novel long hand at the moment and your vlogs keep motivated. I've discovered your channel a few weeks ago and I'm slowly going through your videos when I finish a writing a session, when I need something comforting or when I'm in a slump. You can't imagine how helping your experience is ! I've been writing for years, finished two novels before but badly and am now ready to take it more seriously and try to achieve this dream of mine. So, thank you Christy ❤
Thank you Christy for being one of the first writer tubers to introduce me to this wonderful community of encouraging each other in our writing day to day! I'm inspired by you as I start my own writer's life channel!
Considering I found you via one of the first writing routines, this feels most natural for some reason😂 Plus as a writer, I feel you so hard. When you get into the zone you almost can't believe how much spilled out of you.
Oh that’s awesome!!! Congratulations, Christy! Your excitement made me so happy and motivated to get to work on my own novel ❤️ Congrats again!!! That’s a fantastic accomplishment!
I love your message and the end: I'm the same way, I can do about 2,500 words on a goo day. I think everybody has to write at their own pace, but yes, I think burn out with writing is a thing :) so excited to hear more about this project in the future
I won’t lie I got a bit emotional with you when you finished the first draft hahaha !! Congrats and yeah even though it’s not done done yet, it’s still a massive achievement 🎉♥️🌼
Really enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing that experience with us. It’s encouraging for anyone else looking to work on a big creative project, whether in short little bursts or longer chunks. All the best with draft two! Also was that a Lamy Safari I spotted, the mint coloured pen? I use a Lamy 2000. Cheers.
Thank you Christy for this truly inspiring video!! Could you please make a detailed video on your outlining and planning process? It would be super helpful. Thank you :)
These are so motivating :) they made me finally clean my chaotic desk and go back to working on an almost five-year-old story concept that I'd been having a lot of trouble with, so thank you.
It's so cool to see this journey. I liked how you shared you get ideas for stories that you play around with in your head for a long time. I too get ideas and never write them down. A friend of mine just got me a journal and I think I'm going to use it to get out all those ideas and try to get back into writing.
Christy this is so wonderful and inspiring! ❤️❤️ What a beautiful video in capturing this exciting week of writing achievement. You're making me feel so motivated to write too.
I love your writing vlogs! I may not be a writer but seeing your excitement and passion for writing reminds me to be creative in my own way. Thank you Christy! ✨
I love your writing videos! Please keep us updated on your second draft when you start it, I would really like to hear your process. Also the burn-out disclaimer was much appreciated, as a student I only have time to write about 200 words on a good day, and the slow progress makes me feel insecure at times.
Terry Pratchett became a best selling novelist writing 500 words a night after getting home from working full time at a water company. Any progress is good progress 😊 Take care and best of luck with it 💛
@christy-anne-jones hi Christie, my name is Emily. I'm currently working on my Witcher fanfiction fantasy romance but I'm about to start my twenty seventh part bur I need a good hook opener can you help me out please? 😂❤
I am totally interested in your thoughts in structure, planning, and the technical aspects of writing a novel. :) Edited to ask: I'm sitting here working on my novel in my pajamas and unbrushed teeth. I figure you don't always write whilst beautifully dressed, coiffed, and with your lipstick on...but do you think it helps? To get you in a professional mindset?
I think it will help. Because you give to your brain the message, that you take this job seriously. I would not say, get liptick on. But if it's morning get your clothes on, take care of your skin with moisturizer en sunscreen and have your thee.
god, when i finished my first draft i was so so happy but sooo drained (also mad at myself cuz the last few chapters were rushed) and now i'm just STUCK in the revisions :')
That is craaaaazy! How on earth did she manage that? I'm translating my debut novel, from Swedish into English. It's a fantasy novel inspired by Game of Thrones and Swedish medieval history. I've translated 8000 words in a week, and that is fast for me considering I'm new to translating. But 10 000 words in 2 days ... Scary.
You're videos have inspired me to become a writer, I am seventeen years old and from a place called Calcutta in India. Seeing your creative endeavor and love for this art of writing, I would strongly suggest you to watch the films of an Indian film maker satyajit ray and visit calcutta once in your lifetime, you're always welcome at my home 😇😇
Hi, Do you have a playlist of your writing videos for project Tea Cup? If not, could you create one, would love to watch all of those on a playlist. Love 💕 your videos/ Great Work!!
How about what you learn in the process of writing at that day? How has it improved for you? What were the mistakes or what kind of things bothered you? Or do you make any exercises for yourself to improve your level?
I've been writing a book for 2 days as a new 12 year old author with NO experience and I really love how I did but I'm stuck at 618 WORDS 😭😭 and here she is at 10K in the same amount of time as I'm in
I have a question... whwn you say you write X number of words, is that first draft good quality? I.e. spelling, grammar, coherence.. or is it more just to get the words on paper? I'm asking because my first draft is always very awful!
I have a quote on my desk that says "every first draft is perfect, because all a first draft has to do is exist" and I think that's a great reminder! Don't worry if it comes out awful, you will fix everything up with the editing
Oh that's a great question! Sometimes the words are good, but generally I give myself the understanding that the first draft of anything I write is going to be pure garbage hahahah I struggle with perfectionism, so it's really helpful for me to KNOW the first draft will be crappy. If I know that, then I won't waste time editing. Because I could spend years perfecting a single paragraph. For me, the first draft is just about experiencing the plot. So I allow myself to write parts clunckily if I need to i.e. 'She went here, then did this, then did this.' Second, third, fourth and fifth drafts are for making it pretty (in my opinion) 😊
How do you come about with such a length of words in two days. I need inspiration hd stopped writing n finding hard to restart the story I hd bn working on.
i wrote this post. It's the only thing i wrote form like 5 months (even in my language, not counting signature at bills). Can't even remamber when i wrote a thing on a paper with pen... Now i realize i'm not writing at all to be honest

I've been writing a book for 2 days as a new 12 year old author with NO experience and I really love how I did but I'm stuck at 618 WORDS 😭😭
and here she is at 10K in the same amount of time as I'm in
I'm 26 in this video, so imagine where you'll be in 14 years. 618 words is BRILLIANT so far and you're doing amazingly 💛
Congrats!
How do you motivate yourself to workout or get moving when you work at home?

I've been wanting to write a novel for years. What I get stuck by is how to have dialogue. Im so bad at it. Any tips?

I'm Late. Loveee it!!
Congrats and welcome to our community as authors. What is your novel about ? Let's connected.
What type of writing software do you use?
Hey Christy idk if you're in that stage yet but have you worked with beta readers? If so how to find and work with them?
So cool!!
That’s nice
