Tears in Heaven is an emotional song. Eric Clapton wrote this song for his baby boy that died on young age because of a fatal accident. When you know that story you feel the pain and the emotion of this song.
54 year old white guy here. I love your honest reactions. Anyone who can listen to this song and have lost a loved one who doesn’t cry isn’t human. Music is food for the soul.

@@Umihime oh yes, I know the complete story from start to finish my friend. Its amazing what love can do to people. I've met some pretty angry people in my life, but as soon as they started a family, they almost always completely changed for the better. Your own childs love is a neverending love and bond. They become your heart and soul. A love that nobody can ever take away. I feel bad for Eric, I would never want anyone to lose a child.
He was. The housekeeper was wAtching him. It was s high rise. I think like 15 or 20 stories and I think he fell onto another part of the building that was 5 or 6 stories. Very sad. I don't know how he gets through it when he sings it.

My late husband and I played this at our 2 and a half year old son’s funeral October 30th 1999 😢😭😢 I’m so sorry about your uncle sweetheart. I cry my eyes out every time I hear this song
He and his sons mother were about to live under one roof and he was ready to be a responsible father. They came upstairs to the appartment. The nanny and the janitor were up there with Connor. Somehow a window was left open and his son fell to his death. Needless to add it affected Eric very very deeply. This is the cathartic memorium to him.
I’m so sorry about your uncle, let the rears flow child, we’re here for you, there are times, like this when I wish I could reach out and give you a soft hug 🫂
God bless you, James..... I'm so sorry about your uncle's death and how it has affected your life and I'm sorry that violence has even played a part in your life. This song makes me cry every time I listen to it. When Eric starts with, "Would you know my name...", I lose it. I lost my son back in the 70's and tears still flow today. If you want to cry or feel that you should, then do it. Release it..... We are here to walk with you as you go on your journey. Take care and be well. Peace.
So sorry for your loss. You are my age, or there-a-bout, some of us have been though some things haven't we? But we keep going on somehow. I think our memories are the most precious things we have to hold on to.
This song got me through the year after I lost my baby boy. He was only 6 months old and I was devastated and couldn't function, so I just cried and cried and listened to this song. I didn't know my little 2 year old was also listening to it. When he was 14, he downloaded it and just listened to it over and over while thinking about his baby brother. Babies and children know loss too, please don't forget them in your grief. Thank you for your beautiful reaction ♥
Sometimes the most beautiful songs come from the biggest tragedies. This one is at the top of that list. So so sad. Get teary eyed every time listening to it. Eric's heart and soul in this one.
I am so sorry about your uncle and what you have endured. I pray you find peace within yourself someday. This song was written about Eric's son (age 4) who passed away after he fell 53 floors through an open window of a NY Skyscraper in 1991. Such a sad song but also relatable to many different situations. God Bless you.
My father used to sing this to my mother and it would brings tears to my eyes. The love of my life and I were riding in the car to the beach. This song came on and he started singing it to me and I started crying. By this time my parents had both passed away. I told him the story of this song and we both had tears in our eyes because he knew the song because his father used to sing it to his mother too. I could be wrong but my memory is that it happened when he was being watched by a babysitter and he went over to the window. Is that correct? So very sad.
I remember hearing the news about Conor Clapton so clearly. He was exactly the same age as my daughter. Every time I hear this song I am so devastated for Eric Clapton and Conor's Mum. This such a beautiful song and I still don't know how, Eric Clapton performed this song at the ,Grammy's so soon after his baby boy died. It's a beautiful tribute to his precious son.
A beautiful song. My favorite Clapton quote was when someone asked him how it felt to be the best guitar player ever. He said "I don't know, ask Prince" prince was still alive. A humble talent
Eric Clapton is in my opinion one of the greatest guitarists ever... Where possible, react to his live performances.... every solo improvised...... Layla, River of Tears, Old Love.......
This song won a Grammy Award for Song of The Year when it was released in 1992 …..Much appreciation for this reaction . It is very clear that this was not easy …..when Eric Clapton wrote this for his son I wonder if he knew how many people's lives his song for Conner would honestly touch. For me I have not lost a lot of people in my life to death but the ones that are gone were most of the closest …..Dad , Mom, Grandma Alice , and Grandma Hazel . I am grateful for the few close friends I have , my Aunt Rosie , and my four siblings .
Ya know, this song, really touched ur heart! You said, u were trying to b strong and hold back the tears! Crying does not make u weak! I'm so very sorry about ur uncle and ur friend! I want u to know, with this platform, u have all of us as ur family! I can only speak for myself, but u are n my daily prayers! And nobody deserves joy and happiness, more than u! I so wish I could give u a hug! Ur an amazing young man! Stay strong! You are loved, my friend! ❤
This song always makes me tear up too. I lost my dad almost 3 years ago and this makes me think of him. Sorry for all of your losses James. Best wishes to you. I lost my best friend when we were 13 to leukemia. I'm 59 now, and still think of her.
Also, just finished the rest of your video. I've been watching your stuff for quite a while. You seem like such a good, genuine person. I too have been through some things and have had difficulty dealing with them, like two tours as a combat medic in Afghanistan. All these years later I'm only now starting to open up about it. It's okay to show emotion. It's okay to cry. Seriously, my brother, if you ever want to talk, let me know and we'll get in touch. Thanks for what you do and keep your head up.
Thank you for opening your heart. It takes a lot of courage to speak so personally. Thank you for all the content. Never think it's too late to change. This page has brought you close to a lot of people. You are helping others by being so honest. Take care and love you, bro!
Impossible not to cry to this song. I always get teary just hearing the beginning. Especially knowing it was about his young son. Crying with you, sweetie.
When this song first came out in 1995 I had just lost the love of my life in a car accident and to this day it still brings tears to my eyes that I just can't hold back.
You can always talk to us. This song was especially requested from my father to be played at his funeral. I know he wanted to join my mother. And also knowing this song is dedicated to Eric Clapton's son makes it so so powerful, it cuts you,but it is important to cry sometimes. Let yourself do that once in awhile. Hugs from Sweden.
Sorry you witnessed that so young. Don't worry your uncle See's you & loves you well. You aren't weak if you cry. Like big, old trees they're strong enough to bend& move with the winds!
"and hopefully not choke up" Dude I get weepy just seeing the song title. I've been where you are though, and I'm genuinely glad to know you're in a better place ✌️ A lot of these I'd only ever heard the song but not seen video, and this is one I wish they'd have just shown Clapton playing, movie clips get too distracting.
So sorry for your loss my brother, I really felt your pain and I'm sorry you had to witness something like that at such a young age. My heart goes out to you, Stay strong young brother and stay blessed.🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
The first time I ever heard this song was when my dad died in january of 1993, the day before my moms birthday. It came out in 1992 and I know it's about the death of his son Connor. I cant help but cry everytime I hear it, not only for my dad but for Connor Clapton's death too. Such a tragic story for Eric Clapton and his ex wife. 😭😭😭
I am really sorry about your uncle and so many other difficulties you have experienced. I think it takes a lot of strength for a man to share his emotions. Respect.
Don't ever be ashamed of your feelings. You're human and it's ok to feel. I can pretty much guarantee that there aren't many who can watch this video or hear this song and not be affected by it. I know I can't get through it without tears.
I was at home when my brother called me to the hospital. My mother had been diagnosed with terminal cancer and the end was soon to come. When I started my car, the radio was playing "Tears In Heaven" by EC. I almost lost it then. Nearly 23 years later I think of my mother every time I hear this song, written in memory of the tragic loss of Eric Clapton's son. I even choke up when I mention it's name. A great example of how cathartic music is and how it can comfort you in the most difficult of times.
I’ve always struggled to get through this song, especially the live version Eric played shortly after Conor passed. It’s brutally sad and just unbelievable that Clapton could get through it. And now that I’ve lost my brother I can’t watch this any more. I’m sure you will give a nice reaction as you always do but if you happen to look up the story it will give you a whole new reaction, I promise you.
How sad. I am so sorry for the loss of your uncle and for your pain. You are a wonderful and sensitive young man who allows himself to share his feelings. Stay Strong. We Love You and your channel here. You make me very happy !! God Bless You !!
James. When you spoke about how you felt like you had no-one to turn to I felt like you were speaking my own feelings. There are many of us who understand loss and pain. What you said allowed me to release a little bit of my own sorrow because you understood. God Bless you, James. You're a good man.
So first off thank you for this reaction awesome as always. Thanks for sharing with us. So sorry about your uncle, And you witnessing it breaks my heart. I just love this song and it always makes me cry.❤️👍🌼✌️
Thank you James !!! crying wen I type these words, here are a lot of people on this planet that love you now James , stay save and healhty, love from The Netherlands
Thank you so much for your reaction, as always. May your uncle rest in peace. As others have said, the song is about Clapton's son. As a side note, the video is from the movie Rush, which is a great movie.
Most people are afraid. When others feel and share their emotions openly, it makes them uncomfortable. Some lash out to avoid the pain. Life is unfair and some people can't help. Bless you.
So, so sad to hear about your uncle and the experience you had, at such a young age. It brought me to tears, stay strong and sending you love, all the way from the United Kingdom x
Eric Clapton is an amazing musician. Change the world is one of my favorites. Another beautiful, meaningful, powerful song is The Living Years by Mike and the Mechanics. It’s co-writer had lost his estranged father before he could make amends with him and just before his own son was born. He was filled with regret and wrote the song. That song changed the way I dealt with conflicts with others. Another day is never promised........
I am so sorry about your uncle and you seeing it happen. Stay strong. You have so many people that love and care about you. This song is a heart wrenching song for sure. It always chokes me up also.
Sweetheart, I'm sorry that those things happened to you. Everyone deserves to be loved and supported. Never be afraid of your emotions or tears! It's what makes us human. I know this reaction was 2 years ago but my prayer for you is you are now in a better place emotionally and have found the love and support you deserve.
I'm so sorry you went through all of that! There's nothing wrong with crying! Please don't ever feel like you can't cry or shouldn't! I lost my son and grandson and along with remembering the fun times it also helps me to cry!
James, I'm so sorry that your uncle and friend were murdered and that you witnessed your uncle's death. My eldest cousin was murdered when he was 19-1/2. What many people don't understand is the long term devastation it causes to a family. Johnny died 51 years ago, and we're still feeling the effects. That doesn't mean life doesn't go on, of course it must. You need to talk about this. If your family can't or won't, than to go a small or medium sized church and speak with the pastor. I would encourage you to read the Bible. The Psalms are very comforting and encouraging. One more thing James, the past doesn't have to control your future, so please don't let it. Praying for you.
Eric Claption has been in several legendary rock bands over the decades, as well as had success as a solo artist. I highly recommend his songs "Sunshine of Your Love" (1967 ... Eric sang lead on this song when he was in the band Cream), "Layla" (1970 ... He sang lead on this song when he was the front man for Derek and the Dominos. This original version is a rock song. He recorded a slower acoustic version under his solo name in 1992), "I Shot the Sherriff" (1970 ... under his solo name) and "Change the World" (1996 ... under his solo name). That's an amazing 30-year spread of hit songs right there! :-)
Stay strong. You got this far in life on your own by the sounds of it, you can be proud of that. Your better off with no family rather than way you were treated by yours. You won't be on your own forever bro you will find the right people you can call your family, who have your back
I'm so sorry about your uncle and what you went through experiencing his death. Some of the people who helped me most in this life, were not my family members. I hope you feel the support of this youtube community.
Bless your dear heart to witness the death of your uncle at such an early age or at any age for that matter. You have one of the kindest hearts and you seem to be one of the sweetest persons and your family should be very proud of you. You've touched the hearts of a lot of people on UA-cam. Thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
Strong men cry, strong men carry on. Stay strong and be blessed.
Real men can be seen crying, don't bother me because I'm confident in my manhood... any man who says different is lying

Zakly!
I don’t even know how he managed to write it.
I often wondered the same thing but I think this was something he HAD to do. It was part of his healing. But yeah, I know I couldn't have done it.
Sometimes you have to finish, to get through it. Just like life sometimes.

Never be ashamed of your feelings I have more respect and love for a man who can show his feelings that makes a true man
I’ve always struggled to get through this song, especially the live version Eric played shortly after Conor passed. It’s brutally sad and just unbelievable that Clapton could get through it. And now that I’ve lost my brother I can’t watch this any more. I’m sure you will give a nice reaction as you always do but if you happen to look up the story it will give you a whole new reaction, I promise you.
I have goosebumps every time I hear this song...💔
Wonderful music I love this song
So first off thank you for this reaction awesome as always. Thanks for sharing with us. So sorry about your uncle, And you witnessing it breaks my heart. I just love this song and it always makes me cry.❤️👍🌼✌️
Layla , when Clapton was in the band Derek and the Domino's is a great song
Steven Adams Yes! But even the slower acoustic version as a solo artist is awesome, as well!!
If you want not to cry this is wrong song! It gets me every time! What a great genius song!
Thank you James !!! crying wen I type these words, here are a lot of people on this planet that love you now James , stay save and healhty, love from The Netherlands
The song is been around forever and I cry every single time I hear it thinking about his son
Bless you.
Men that cry are the best men.
Feeling your emotions, showing your emotions makes you a strong man
I’m so sorry for your loss. I found my sister dead when I was 18. I know the struggle 🙏💕
So, so sad to hear about your uncle and the experience you had, at such a young age. It brought me to tears, stay strong and sending you love, all the way from the United Kingdom x
You can talk and shed tears with us 💜
Eric Clapton is an amazing musician.
My beautiful brother..The Hooters, " and she danced".....It will bring such happiness!!!!!😀😀😀😀😀
I am so sorry about your uncle and you seeing it happen. Stay strong. You have so many people that love and care about you. This song is a heart wrenching song for sure. It always chokes me up also.
Nothing wrong crying it doesn't make you weak it makes you a survivor, stay strong hugs
I’m so sorry for your loss. Hold your head up honey. Share with whoever will listen
I'm so sorry you went through all of that! There's nothing wrong with crying! Please don't ever feel like you can't cry or shouldn't! I lost my son and grandson and along with remembering the fun times it also helps me to cry!
Sorry for your loss James, this song always makes me cry too. Stay positive my friend☺
I am so sorry for your loss! Let music be a healing balm!
Almost anything off Eric Clapton Unplugged album is awesome. My favorite is Lonely stranger.
I feel your pain. I lost my father to cancer when I was 26. I can honestly say that this dried up body still has plenty of tears left for him.
Stay strong. You got this far in life on your own by the sounds of it, you can be proud of that.
Your better off with no family rather than way you were treated by yours. You won't be on your own forever bro you will find the right people you can call your family, who have your back
Don’t be afraid to cry, It makes you a better person in the end. I’m sorry you had to deal with that at such a young age. Stay strong you have support
I am so sorry for your loss, remember your uncle is at peace in heaven and is watching over you x
