Thank you - Why was he talking 10 minutes without mentioning where to click? Because its not obvious. Anyway who comes here knows about the reg follow actions anyway.
Dude, so helpful. I also put this question to the video's author, but as you know a lot maybe you have an idea of why this is happening? THANKS. Here's the question: I'm on Live 11 Suite V.3.3 and follow. I used the master channel which controls GLOBALLY whether follow actions is on or off. When deactivated, Ableton states NO follow actions will occur. I was teaching myself and had 8 scenes. I had 4 of them enabled for follow actions. It seemed to work. However, when I deactivated it did deactivate any follow actions but the tracks scene launch buttons still had the stripes. They did NOT go back to the appearance of normal launch buttons, they still had stripes. Now - true, when deactivated globally they performed no follow actions. But, there appearance still remained 'striped' as if they would. Is this some sort of bug?
You're a great explainer. You should be teaching high level physics. I know, because I've had high level physics teachers who couldn't compare to your abilty to explain things. Seriously, you're a rare commodity.
Amazing video, thanks so much for this, big time DAW user, new to Ableton and this is yet another great example of how this approach can create new textures and help to break writers block!
Awesome, and please let me know how not to activate the mac drop down from the top when i go to hit play ? ii spend hours waiting for it to pop back up over time
Thanks - great video. Is there any way to set the length to the maximum clip length in a scene? So for example, if I have three clips and one of the clips is 4 bars but the other are 2 bars, could I get the scene follow to ensure that it plays all 4 bars before executing the follow action?
Hi! Thanks a bunch for your tutorials. I have a query. I have Novation Launchpad MINI and I want to launch each scene after the completion of one bar. How do I do it? Help me please.
Hey there! I've just tried doing the scene follow action in Live Trial 11. When I selected all the scenes I wanted to do a follow action with, it looked as if there was no option for me to do so. That is, there was no follow action view that came up. I thought it being the Trial might be the problem and the option wasn't available so I purchased Suite. I still have the same problem where it looks as if I do not have an option to create follow actions between scenes. When I selected multiple scenes and then hit shift + tab it still didn't bring up the follow action option. Could anyone shed some light on what I'm doing wrong? Is there an option that maybe I need to turn on to enable follow actions between scenes? Would love some advice
great thank you! Why is it with my project that follow action just plays the next CLIP not the whole SCENE... i didn´t do anything else than you.😩 thank you for your help!
I just found out!! You have to click on the NUMBER next to the scene to have selcted the scene. If you just klick on the scene, it will have selected the clips for the follow action behavior. 🥳😵💫
Hi, great instruction on the follow actions in scenes here. However, I'm trying to get over the issue of having clip tail off's for some tracks - for example, if I have set the follow actions for each scene to change after 8 bars this changes all clips on the scene at once as you'd expect but what if I have a rise and hit sound that needs a tail off that is beyond 8 bars? just before scene change? How does one make that track/clip sound play if the clip/sound is right at the end of 8 bars. I have tried unselecting loop of the clip in the track and changed different follow actions in that clip to no avail. I've read the manual and searched online for the last few hours but cant find a solution other than changing the scene bar length to 16 but need it to be 8 with the rise and hit sound triggered at 8.0.4. Has anyone else come across this or found a way to work around this - or am' I missing something completely stupid in my hazy madness :P

Hi, thanks for your video. When I click/select scenes, I can't seem to find the scene automation box in the left bottom corner (Ableton Live 11 Suite) Also while renaming clips and scenes, they randomly change to the automated striped triangle instead of the manual triangle. Do you know how to do this? Thanks in advance. Nathan
Is there a way to map a midi button to add a follow action to a clip? I find assigning follow actions to be terribly unfriendly for a live performance.
Click the "Midi" button at the top right of your screen...... You can assign midi control to the vast majority of faders, knobs and buttons in Ableton. (You can also do this by assigning computer keys too..... HIt "Key" instead of "Midi".) Annoyingly; there are still things were and there that you can't.
Just shouldn't stop... Jump opens up a secondary box which allows you to nominate which scene number to jump to next.... Been waiting so long for that feature and finally it's here.... It means you can impose an over-riding structure to the follow action routine whilst still using the randomisation to create 'fills' within the automated performance...... BANGIN'!!!

No - they work on a horizontal continuum, so one at a time. You could always capture the contents of a scene as a new audio part and add that into a new scene.
@@SimonShackletonMusic got it but i want a transtition with crossfade a b for 2 scene, i cant do it because of when second starts first stops. Can you suggest a way to overcome this? Btw thanks for the answer. Have a nice say.
So for those who cant see the follow actions on the master, you have to double click the number in the scene of the master track.
thank you so much

Either assign a midi CC trigger to each scene and trigger the clips manually OR use follow actions as per the video.
