I was an Acura dealer tech in the late ‘90’s/early 2000’s and was lucky enough to work on a few of these, and I mean VERY FEW! We had to watch videos in the dealership before they came out to know that to do when they came in for service. With the exception of regular service or to replace the rear tires, they were as reliable as an Accord. The engine had a safeguard that would not allow it rev above a certain rpm until it was up to operation temperature to avoid premature wear or damage. It was a quiet, civilized car that could be driven daily but still go play on the twisties or drive cross-country without blinking. Seeing this brings back many fond memories! Thanks!❤

14:5347:4349:58 it really is interesting to look at the 1990 Acura NSX against its contemporaries because one can see all these trade offs weighed in by different companies when one look at the concept Nissan MID4 II, Mitsubishi 3000GTO, Toyota Supra MK4, Nissan Skyline GTR, Mazda RX-7 FD, Subaru SVX, Nissan 300ZX, Porsche 944, Dodge Viper, and C4 Chevorlet Corvette.
I absolutely adore you're videos, such amazing quality, you definitely deserve more subscribers. I recently watched your celsior video and as an owner of an ls400, it made me happy to see someone do its justice, amazing work on this video as well
For me the real NSX is the first one the 2016 one i dont really like the design. The 1990 version is a drivers car and a masterpiece! Great video, congratulations!! Cheers from Portugal
16:39 i have been told routinely by others that styling is subjective, not objective; however there are rare cars like the 1990 Acura NSX, Lamborghini Countach, and Ferarri F40 that seem objectively beautiful and universally sexy.
I was just going to comment on the same point. F-16's are land based aircraft Only. For the Air Force and some ally Air Forces. It is no sea going, carrier based plane. With that said, it is neat to learn that the Japanese used the aircraft for design inspiration for crafting the first NSX. I work in the aerospace Industry and enjoy the car culture. This is a great video.
49:30 58 thousand dollars in 1991 translates to 126 thousand dollars today. Imagine that Mitsubishi rolls out a mid-engined sports car that’s as fast as a Z06, as beautiful as a 296GTB, as practical as an R8 and as well-built as a 911 Turbo. And imagine they start selling it for the price of a Z06. People would lose their minds!

We need a new, grassroots release of this car. Hybrid and electric cars are a waist of time. Honda made the Civic CX. In 89. How many mpg did it get again? Low tech and still around 50 miles per gallon. No electric motors, no direct injection, no 7 speed transmission. Just pure and simple. And reliable at that
Excellent documentary everything was perfect and your researching was outstanding I loved it congratulations keep up the good work Edit: You deserve much more attention I just found your channel and I can see that you have very interesting videos and so little subscribers...new subscriber here and I'll recommend you to my friends
FYI, Senna won 8 races in 1988, which was a new single season record at the time. Prost won 7, tying the record Jim Clark had held since 1963 - in a 10 race season.
I always wondered what the NSX would've been like had Honda been more "American" with their horsepower output and not so modest. Imagine if they had made a special edition NA market NSX with 350-400 hp, I don't think they would've had _any_ problem selling those.
I agree, when the NSX was introduced I was a bit disappointed with the hp number , a Nissan z turbo had 300hp for almost 1/2 the price, a turbo engine or a v8 with over 300hp would have been nice and improved its straight line speed.
Gordon Murray, who created the McLaren F1 based on his experience AND brief ownership of an NSX, opined that the bone stock NSX chassis can easily take way more than 400 HP without losing its characteristic sharp handling capabilities. High performance sports cars typically can't take much more than its stock HP without losing that agile handling due to soft chassis. NSX (coupe model, not the -T) was THE exception. He said Honda did it right the first time. Senna had a part in providing feedback which led to further stiffening the chassis by the engineers and Uehara took Senna's advice to heart. Hence is why many NSX owners decided to supercharge their NSX to 500HP and not lose its handling capabilities if they wanted more than stock 290HP. I didn't need all that horsepower so I decided to leave mine stock.
Pros: The video is really detailed. Hands down on that 🙂🥰. Cons: You forgot the say the lines at the end of video: "If you liked this video share and click the notification bell, bla5x. Thanks for Watching." I've around UA-cam for the past few years now, since 2007 so I seen Everything. This is the common mistake that UA-camrs like you didn't simply care about it and it makes me sad everytime they ignore this line. So this is my only complaint so far. I hope you will do it better next time.
if you know anything about honda's accomplishments and skills, you know damn well to never doubt them. to them doing sth that is impossible by common sense, logic and laws of physics is but a mere iconvinience. they are without doubt, quite simply the best there ever are, with their products only being held back by the amount of attention these gods can grant uppon their creations.
Cars like the og NSX that could bring that type of driver experience... Mclaren F1, Porsche Cayman and Boxster, Lotus Evora and the new Lotus Emira and even new Alpine cars. Let’s add GMT t.50 and Mclaren 720 & Solus GT just for fun.
It's kinda disappointing that the Prelude, especially the 3rd gen which was styled with similar design cues as the NSX, shared one of the designers, and was an entry level sports car along the vein of the other Japanese manufacturers products, was completely skipped over and ignored here. The only reference I see at all is a picture of the 88, only mentioning 4ws and not even saying the name Prelude. I think it was a missed opportunity. Otherwise, this is a great video with a lot of good info. Thanks
I'm so smart I bought three. I'm so dumb I sold two. My 03 was one of seven in Red Black that year. Stupid! Now I have a 2005 with 25k miles. Not for sale.

I absolutely adore you're videos, such amazing quality, you definitely deserve more subscribers. I recently watched your celsior video and as an owner of an ls400, it made me happy to see someone do its justice, amazing work on this video as well
God I wish I could subscribe more than once…
Excellent documentary. Thank you. I'd rather it wear the Honda badge. Shalom
No F-16 has ever taken off from an Aircraft Carrier.
I know you researched and presented wonderfully but maybe see if maybe you can Amazon affiliate link or share your sources
( Love the work it left me wanting more even more)

YES YES YES
We need a new, grassroots release of this car. Hybrid and electric cars are a waist of time. Honda made the Civic CX. In 89. How many mpg did it get again? Low tech and still around 50 miles per gallon. No electric motors, no direct injection, no 7 speed transmission. Just pure and simple. And reliable at that
Excellent documentary everything was perfect and your researching was outstanding I loved it congratulations keep up the good work
Edit: You deserve much more attention I just found your channel and I can see that you have very interesting videos and so little subscribers...new subscriber here and I'll recommend you to my friends
Thank you so much!
FYI, Senna won 8 races in 1988, which was a new single season record at the time. Prost won 7, tying the record Jim Clark had held since 1963 - in a 10 race season.
Thanks!
This is incredibly generous. Thank you.
Maybe they could have used " American " suspension as well , or as everyone else knows it , the suspension off a stagecoach .
@@Dad-Gad , everything is straight and flat, who needs a suspension? lol
@@willywonka4340 Actually Murray owned the NSX for many years, like 5-7 yrs
Very VERY Good video, i do not like those later ( 1h.01m.15s ) headlights on the car!
Pros:
The video is really detailed. Hands down on that 🙂🥰.
Cons:
You forgot the say the lines at the end of video: "If you liked this video share and click the notification bell, bla5x.
Genius car designers. Their senior management makes technical decisions, US senior management only knows counting beans.
The full width rear light came from the Millennium Falcon. Dodge borrowed the concept for their new design of the Charger later on.
if you know anything about honda's accomplishments and skills, you know damn well to never doubt them. to them doing sth that is impossible by common sense, logic and laws of physics is but a mere iconvinience. they are without doubt, quite simply the best there ever are, with their products only being held back by the amount of attention these gods can grant uppon their creations.
great 👍
“Dealerships were selling the NSX for anywhere between 30 to 40 thousand dollars above sticker price.”
Gee. I wonder where I’ve heard that before…
S2000 Video? Love the content.
The best car in the lot and mostly beautiful 👍👌
It's kinda disappointing that the Prelude, especially the 3rd gen which was styled with similar design cues as the NSX, shared one of the designers, and was an entry level sports car along the vein of the other Japanese manufacturers products, was completely skipped over and ignored here. The only reference I see at all is a picture of the 88, only mentioning 4ws and not even saying the name Prelude. I think it was a missed opportunity. Otherwise, this is a great video with a lot of good info. Thanks
Hey! what's the song in the intro!
The intro song is called “Dreams in Colour” by Casey Wilcox. I found it on Epidemic Sound.
@@Barchetta Awesome, thanks
They did their job!....... Cars were never the same after the nsx!
the TTRue sports Sedan is Audi,Subaru WRX,MITsibuchci EVO the civic &Prelude canot drift and have a FWD sway
30+ years old car that looks like a 2025 model year. ❤️ P S: it’s still all over UA-cam
This guys a human thesaurus
Oh boy Hondajet!
1:05:24 plug in hybrid..🤔
@barchetta please do the S2000
Williams Honda was the best thing to happen to Honda
I love the NSX, but will note that in terms of pure performance on paper, the ZR-1 won out on the test.
22:56 so called "german engineering" right there ... 🤣
If it's good enough for Ayrton Senna it's good enough for me 👍
I'm so smart I bought three. I'm so dumb I sold two. My 03 was one of seven in Red Black that year. Stupid! Now I have a 2005 with 25k miles. Not for sale.
Only 5 sold last year..
The XK120 was never manufactured from stainless steel.
