I signed up to my apple id without thinking I could just make an "Icloud email" so its a bit more secure in the long-run, this has put things into perspective, overall I just don't want products and companies to tie back to my interests, having to compartmentalize and this really explained it well. Thanks for the video!

I have a 2 year old iPad , and bought a new iPhone. Unfortunately they use the same iCloud . Using up the pathetic 5 Gig that Apple give to you for free , I didn’t know that both would use the mere 5 Gig they give you . Is there away to separate the iPad and iPhone so they have 5 Gig iCloud ?

Great question @Thavisup! That came from a conversation directly with Apple Support. I often ask them questions on a variety of things if I can't find the answers in their support documentation. @ace9791 had replied to one of the comments : Apple recently updated the website and doesn't show that box for the standalone Apple ID option. They moved it to the "Email & Phone numbers" section. When you select that, you will see a little circle with a minus sign next the email. Click that and it will give you the option to change the Apple ID email address.

Apple literally changed a whole bunch of stuff a few weeks after I published this @jo2reco! Stole Device Protection is on my list to cover. It's extra security features for the Apple ID Account. Very informative video; I just have one question to ask: If I change my sign in ID (email used to sign in) from a gmail account to an outlook account, will I still be able to update my apps without issue? I’ve seen talk online that people have had issues doing this as some of their apps were downloaded before they changed the email that they used to sign-in to their Apple account. Upon trying to update, it displays the email that they previously used to sign-in and they’re unable to update these apps and are only left with the option to delete & reinstall them. Any feedback is appreciated and you’re doing a fantastic job of getting back to people here. Keep up the good work! 👍👍
@@kiki2236 I went ahead, said screw it and changed it shortly after I made this post and I’ve had no issues. No previous sign-in email popping up when installing/updating apps or anything. However, make sure that you turn off syncing to iCloud for everything before you change the sign-in ID email as I had to change it back to the email I originally had and then turn off syncing to iCloud for everything as it wasn’t syncing with the new ID at first. Once you’ve changed the sign-in ID to the new one you want, turn iCloud syncing back on for everything and you should be good to go. The only thing that I found weird was that my photo gallery said “syncing to iCloud” for a while but I assume that this was because it was syncing all of my photos to the new ID. Eventually it synced and all was well 😊 It did display my old ID under my name in settings but upon signing out and then back in to my Apple ID, it changed to the new one. Just be aware that if you have to sign out and back in to get it to display the new ID, all of your downloaded music on Apple Music will uninstall and you’ll only have the songs saved, not downloaded, when you re-open the app. Have a blessed day 💪😎
@@kiki2236Changing it was fine. Just make sure that you turn off syncing to iCloud for everything before you change it and then turn it back on afterwards.
@@kiki2236 Also, if your old ID displays in settings, sign out and then back in. Downloaded music will be removed but you’ll still have the songs saved 💪😎

That's a good video! But are there a difference if I use an iCloud address or an hotmail address? Is it worth to change from hotmail to an iCloud mail on my Apple id? Or is it just meaningless?
Great question @Kieubasa! The the grande scheme of things, an Apple ID is just a username. Any email address can be used. However an Apple ID does allow you to use some iCloud tools, so it really depends on what you use. There are many email providers to choose from: iCloud, Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc. Every company offers similar tools such as email, contacts, calendars, notes, etc, but not all are created equal. Every interface is different and the intuitiveness of each can be different depending on personal preference. I do have a couple other videos that talk about iCloud vs Apple IDs as well as iCloud in general that may be helpful to see the concept and how it differs from hotmail. iCloud - What the Purpose is & How is it supposed to work! ua-cam.com/video/tXq-pMV40eM/v-deo.html Apple ID accounts vs iCloud accounts - Understanding the difference ua-cam.com/video/ZZomICAQYSM/v-deo.html I hope that makes sense. Great question @petethepete! Yes your Primary Apple Account can be an iCloud Email address, but it not required. Any valid email address can be used as an Apple Account. I actually just published a video that talks a lot about changing Apple Accounts in 7 difference scenarios, so I'll link that below for reference: How to change your Primary Apple Account (Apple ID) Email Address ua-cam.com/video/f2We3ctQSsQ/v-deo.html Thank you so much for taking your time to watch this video! Will the information still stay on the old Apple ID email because it’s my dads email and if he gets a iPhone will all my information that I switched to my email go to his iphone?
Hi @melanygonzalez9421! Changing the email address that is associated to your primary Apple Account will not affect any of the data, purchases or emails with it. It's pretty much just changing the username. I have an updated video about changing the primary Apple Account email address that may be helpful. Thanks king! I still have to wait a month but that alias thing is exactly what I was hoping for. Outlook has a similar setup that allows you to change your email without completely wiping they old and that's what I was hoping to find in the apple ecosystem.
I don't know why Apple does the whole timing restriction. And it seems there is a slight difference between a primary and secondary iCloud alias email address. Wishful thinking that Apple will improve this in the years to come. THANK YOU so much for watching! It is appreciated more than you know! Hi your content is very well explained, I wish that more Apple techs knew their stuff better. I’m just wondering if you know the ins & outs on changing Apple ID from one country to another. Thank you 🙏
Hi @hockeycoach1on1! I appreciate you and your kind words! I have not actually had the need to change any of my Apple IDs to another country, but below is the support article from Apple that gives information on what you should do first before you change your Apple ID. Change your Apple ID country or region support.apple.com/en-us/HT201389 Seems pretty straightforward, but for sure you would want to not have a balance on your card and you would want to cancel all subscriptions related to the Apple ID that you'd be chaining to another country. They all said no I said you’re all need to go take some classes because people like me need to know I’m waiting for a green dot to call so I knew about green Dot or they would’ve misinformed me how many times have I been misinformed, I know you can’t answer that I paid for UA-cam and I still get commercials. It was on my iPad and I couldn’t save it. It wants me to sign in so obviously I’m not synced, but Apple will say this appear matches this over here and yes you are but no I’m not.

This is great. Joel, do you recommend logging out of every service connected to our Apple i.d on all our devices before doing this? It sounds like that is no longer necessary? From what you're saying, we'll get the prompts to sign in with new i.d. anyway. ( A back up would be a good idea though?) When researching this I have seen many times a warning that we might lose *documents* in the iCloud, and subscriptions.... but it sounds like (hopefully) this is old info. I also saw a ton of articles that stated Apple does not accept alias emails as an Apple i.d. !! Hard to know when things change quickly!!

Great question @Marcus_4532! So it depends. If you're Apple ID is a gmail account and you're changing it to another gmail account, it wouldn't affect any of your emails. When you use a third party email address like gmail for an Apple ID, it's really just like a username for your apple account and services. If you're talking about iMessages for texting, that should all stay the same in addition to subscriptions. THANK YOU so much for watching! It is appreciated more than you know! Thank a lot for your videos! One detail question if I want to use an ICloud email in my AppleID. Did I understood you correctly, that it is the ALIAS mail that I should enter into to AppleID after 30 days, and not the primary ICloud mail?
Two strange aspects. 1. First I created the iCloud mail alias, and after one day also added it into the list of mobile and mails on the Apple ID web page. Now suddenly the section where the AppleID can be maintained in the section up to the right is gone!! Shall I delete this mail alias again from the list, hoping it solves this problem? 2. If I open the list of mobile/mails on the same page, there is a remark (question mark) out to the right on the primary ICloud mail, that this is an alias för the mail linked to an Apple-ID!!! What is this, what does it mean because this is the primary ICloud address.
Hi @rolandgoransson5964! So strange coincidence 1: Apple literally just updated the website and doesn’t show that box for the standalone Apple ID option! They moved it to the “Email & Phone numbers” section. When you select that, you will see a little circle with a minus sign next the email. Click that and it will give you the option to change the Apple ID email address. Strange thing 2: That is normal. If you created an iCloud email alias, it will show up there and has the little question mark to the right and when you hover over it, it says "This is an alias of your Apple ID email address". All it means is that it was the first iCloud alias created. I saw your other comment, so I'll respond to that there! THANK YOU so much for watching! It is appreciated more than you know! If this video was useful, I’d love for you to SHARE it with on social media and say how it helped you! Please SUBSCRIBE if you haven’t already, and if you have, THANK YOU for your continued support!
Hi @rolandgoransson5964! So if you're on iCloud.com and you go to Settings within the Mail app there, this is where you can go to create an iCloud Alias email address. When you do that, the first primary will often show up under the appleid.apple.com website under the Email & Phone Number section. You can create up to 3 total aliases in iCloud.com, so after the first one if you create a second one, you can manually add under your account on appleid.apple.com. The 30 days comes into play if you wanted to change your main original Apple ID to one of the new iCloud email aliases that were created (primary or not). Hope that makes sense! Hi @JANElatibule! I don't really know if I can say if one is better than the other. They both have pros and cons. Do you use any google services currently? Do you have a Google or iCloud already? As far as designating one to use as an Apple ID, it's really just a username. If you're starting from scratch and don't have any account, my personally like iCloud, but I may be a little bias. :-) Either which one you choose, both will be as equally easy to use. I think since recently, you can also designate another icloud account as a last resort if you lost complete access to your devices/account emails. But off course, this needs to be done before you lost access. And it should be a trusted person who also takes security serious, like updating their devices etc...
i updated my apple id email address on my phone but on the apple id screen just below my name its still showing my old apple id email address. what do i do
Thanks. You explained it really well. I’d love to hear more about Family Sharing. Like many, we started out with one iTouch and now have 3 iPads, 2 iPhones, 2 iwatches and one MacBook between us. But I can figure out how to split it into 2 accounts so we can text each other’s phones. It’s all under the same Apple ID.
I agree @stephaniesinden145! This exact scenario happens quite often. I do have some videos planned for Family Sharing in the near future. Long story short though, there is no way to divide Apple ID's or Merge them. In your Situation, the best thing to do would be to create new Apple ID's for any family member, and then export information from the main Apple ID and import into the new Apple IDs. If you have kids that don't have an Apple ID, you can actually create child Apple IDs. You get prompted with this when you start the process of Family Sharing. There's so much on this topic! Stay tuned and don't hesitate to ask questions! THANK YOU so much for watching! It is appreciated more than you know! Good Morning Joel, I use yahoo mail for my business we would like to use gmail is there a way to change from one to the other? And not loose all my mail from yahoo mail. Thx!!
Hi @trddak1! So if you have a yahoo email address as your Apple ID, changing that to a gmail account would not affect your yahoo email inbox of messages. The Apple ID itself is just like a username, and your username just so happens to be your yahoo email address. It's not linked to the actual emails coming to your yahoo email account. In theory you could use your Yahoo email address as an Apple ID as well as Yahoo Email and have two different passwords as the services are completely separate from one another. I hope that makes sense! THANK YOU so much for watching! It is appreciated more than you know! If this video was useful, I’d love for you to SHARE it with on social media and say how it helped you! Dear Joel! First of all, thank you!!! You explained it the very best way. You are amazing!. I do have a question though…. My apple id now is my old outlook that I don’t have access to anymore (I’ve tried everything but i’m permanently locked out) If I change my Apple Id now to a gmail that I use, will it have repercussions? Like, as in, i’m very scared to do it what if it asks me to verify on my outlook that I cannot get in to and I lose my data? Sorry, i’m always a bit anxious. I hope you can help! I’m getting a new phone soon :(
Hi @HebrewBulgarian, So think of the Apple ID Account more as a username than being an email address. Even though you use an email address as the username, if you change it, the email address itself shouldn't go away. Usually if it's an iCloud Apple Account it will make it become an alias and you don't have to use it. Thank you so much for taking your time to watch this video. It is greatly appreciated! If this video has been helped you, I would be honored if you would consider sharing it with your social media network and expressing your gratitude for its assistance. Hi @jontreasure1991! How long ago did you try? I know many many years ago when I worked at apple (which was about 15 or so years ago) it was not possible. Great video but of course I have questions. I have an Apple ID with an .verizon email and an Apple ID with a .me email. account. Both Apple IDs have apps and stuff associated with them. I’m trying to get rid of the Verizon id and still have access to purchases associated with that I’d with the .me ID. Is making the Verizon ID an alias the way to do that? Or is there any other way?
Thanks for this. I have an Apple ID associated with an ISP that I should really change so will follow your steps. But I’m also one of those in the scenarios where I’m straddling two accounts on my devices due to having one for years with purchases, connections to services etc tied to one account (the ISP one) before getting a Mobile Me Account than then lead to having a iCloud address and seperate Apple ID. Both now have a right mix on them and there’s no way for me to easily unpick and move to just 1 account. Really wish I could merge the accounts! Come on Apple!
Hi @alanmcloughlin909! The more I think about it, I actually don't mind having two Apple IDs. One for iCloud and one for Media/Purchases. It's a good way to separate them. Would it be nice to have them combined, sure, but I personally don't think that will happen soon. Only hope for Apple to get on board with it! THANK YOU so much for watching! @@Learnwithjoel thanks Joel. I think it’s more for simplicity. When setting up a new device I always have to then manually sort out my music, Podcast, App Store etc to be under the correct login that I’m using. There is also the fact that I may one day lose access to one of the emails as I have it from being a teenager with an ISP that is a paid for service via my dad, the email is imbedded on my life but I need to make efforts to migrate away from it as I don’t have control of it always being with me which could lead to me one day being locked out of my account unless I use your tips here to change that email to a 3rd email. Hence my preference for a merge rather than going down the route of yet and other email address. Services like Google forced me to already have an additional email and with having to maintain different password across accounts and also using monitoring software to alert me to websites being targeted where I may want to update my passwords then having the fewer the better would be my goal.
Hi @JeanneKinland! Sounds like you have that email address being used already. Did you check the rest of the devices you or your family might own? Thank you so much, man! This video is brilliant. I’ve one question. I changed my Apple ID email from outlook to gmail. No problem with AppStore also.It asked password and updated itself. But it still shows as an old outlook when I click at the settings. Is there anyway to change this? It’s really annoying see this. Also I checked on web(safari) when I want to sign in with old outlook it says wrong Apple ID or password. (It’s good thing of course) but only settings problem :(
Guys,I fixed that. I sign out and signed in. But DONT FORGET. IT CAN ASK YOUR OLD PASSCODE. Because I changed it 2,3days ago. (Also there was an option “I forgot my old passcode”)
Glad you were successful @fidi2402! yup, you'll need to make sure browsers and apps are still saving old passwords! THANK YOU so much for watching! It is appreciated more than you know! Hello!! I tried the iPhone method and I put in an email (gmail) I created 2 years ago to change my current one and when I clicked enter it said that email is already used by another Apple ID. Not sure what to do, any advice?
Joel, I need to change my email address(no longer with Comcast (per your example in video)) plus I also have a new phone number. I can’t get into my Apple account because it keeps a wanting to do a 2 step verification but I can’t get into my old email account or get a text from a phone number I no longer have to get the code to type in that would enable me to get into my Apple account to change my email address and phone number!! So frustrating😤 I hope you have a suggestion. Thanks
I have a suggestion for you. Maybe you could try calling the old phone number to see if it is being used by someone else? If not, you can try to reuse that number and receive your verification text. If someone answers the phone from your old number, perhaps you can try to earn their trust and enlist their help in resolving your account issue. (For example, you can invite him/her out to a meeting at a restaurant where you can explain your full situation) I too am facing a similar issue, but with an old Facebook account. I tried calling the my old number and someone answered the call on the other end. I am now trying to prove that I am trustworthy so that I can enlist his help in recovering my old Facebook account.
Hi @kimcat3760! This is why it's so important to have a trusted device. I can certainly feel and relate to the frustration! Has Comcast been any help in trying to get into your old account? Unfortunately without having a trusted device, phone number changed and Comcast being difficult as always, I would have recommended the same thing as @CaptainM792! It's actually beneficial for your Apple ID to not be tied to that old phone number as they will continually get notifications to their device if you were to keep trying to log in. Have you gone to your phone carrier to see if that number has been re-used? Does this Apple ID warrant the hassle to even try to recover? Apple may not be much help if there is no way to verify that it's you, so you may be dependent on phone company, Comcast and Good Samaritan to help! Fingers crossed for you! I wish you the best to try and get access! Thank you so much for taking your time to watch this video. It is greatly appreciated! Do i need to backup my phone first before changing my Apple ID ? So after changing my Apple ID to a newer Apple ID my whatsapp conversation will remain as it use to be and wont be deleted or gone missing right ?
Hi @likjoeheng7906, I have changed multiple Apple ID's without backing up. When you change the Apple ID, all the content associated with it should remain as is. Also this should not affect your WhatApp account as the app itself was downloaded and "purchased" with the Apple ID, but you should have the same email that you used to sign up with WhatApp, or it's associated with your phone number. So that should not be an issue either. THANK YOU so much for watching! It is appreciated more than you know! We have a gmail that we can’t log into which is the current Apple ID. Everything from that email was set up to forward to main email. If I change Apple ID to the main email, what happens to the iCloud access? Your video was very helpful and clear!
Hi @trixr4kids693! If the Apple ID is associated to the App Store and all of your purchases and subscriptions that you change, the new associated Apple ID will still show and have all of your content that you purchased or subscribed to. In this video I did the exact same thing. My Apple ID that I used for the App Store and all purchases were previously linked to my old @comcast.net email address. Then I changed it to a new iCloud email address and all is good. Everything is there! I hope that helps clarify! THANK YOU so much for watching! It is appreciated more than you know! @@LearnwithjoelHmmm... I swear I was told by Apple support in the past that your Apple ID and your App Store ID were two different accounts/emails. And they were telling me that even if I changed my Apple ID email, my App Store email would remain the same. They recommended having both the same if possible. Sounds like that is no longer the case (or never was?)
@trixr4kids693 Apple ID's over the years have been very confusing. It got even more confusing when iCloud was released. Way back in the day, an Apple ID could be anything. It could just be a word. It didn't have to be an actual email address...this was very long ago. Now an email address is required to create an Apple ID. When you create an Apple ID, you have the ability to use your already existing email address, such as gmail, yahoo, outlook, or whatever you have, or you can create a brand new email address from Apple ending in @iCloud.com to be your Apple ID. Any Apple ID can be used for the App Store to buy content whether it be apps, tv shows, movies, subscriptions or anything. I hope that helps!
Hi @lennandebbarma571! So once Two Factor Authentication is turned on for an Apple ID, it can't be turned off. Below is an Apple Support Article that I will link below on this topic. I have an iCloud email address that I use as my main email. My appleid is a hotmail email. I’d like to know how to change the appleid to that iCloud email I’ve always used. Can you do that right away, Or do I have to create another different iCloud email Alia’s and wait 30 days?. I’m confused
Hi @xboxbml! When you say that your main email is an iCloud email address, is that an alias of the hotmail email address that is an Apple ID? If not, you won't be able to do anything as they are already both two existing Apple ID's. You can only change a current Apple ID to an email address that is not already an Apple ID. What you should be able to do is, within the Hotmail Apple ID, you can go to iCloud and associate it with a new email address ending in @iCloud.com. Then once that is created, you need to add that email address to the email section within the Apple ID website. It will add that alias to your account as an associated email address. Then if you wait past 30 days, you should be able to change the hotmail Apple ID to be the new iCloud alias. This is exactly what I did with my Comcast email Apple ID. I hope that makes sense! I made an alias and it says under it in settings «alias can’t be changed, transferred or converted to primary accounts. So can I not make my primary iCloud into an iCloud alias I created? I have a dumb iCloud email and i need to change it too a new iCloud email
Same here… ex girlfriends icloud is on here and when i loose cell service it sends messages through that email and pisses off my wife….. he says something like it takes 30 days to register i am gonna come back to this in 30 days and see if i can remove her old account email
For some reason the "Apple ID" menu option (seen at 4:21) is missing for me. I had to call Apple and get Tech Support to change my ID address. Wish this was easier.

Can I ask a stupid question? I have a gmail account as my current apple ID. I set-up an icloud account 30 days ago. If I want to change my apple ID to this icloud account, will all my purchases transfer also? I am not sure about Aliases just yet, but I want the main icloud account to be my Apple ID also.
Never a stupid question @amirsaeed3395! This sounds exactly what I did with my old Comcast.net email address that used to be my main Apple ID for all iTunes/App Store purchases. I had logged into iCloud.com with my Comcast, created an iCloud email address...waited 30+ days, then went to appleid.apple.com and changed my main Apple ID email to the iCloud email that I had previous created. After doing that, it automatically updated my Apple ID on my iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and every other device I had that account on. It did prompt me to type in my password again on some of those devices when I purchased something, but it worked pretty smoothly. After this video, I've created even more Apple ID's to test some different scenarios out, but overall, if that your main goal to change from gmail to the iCloud primary account (the first one created), then you should be good! @@Learnwithjoel thank you for the reply! Will the Gmail account still hang around as an alias or can I get rid of it? (I hate Gmail). Also I tried and I got a message about other emails on the account that I will not be able to use them etc? Did I get that right?

Question , I want to change my cox email as my apple ID with a GMAIL that is associated with apple ID already , can that still be done or I need a fresh email that is no associated with any of my apple id or cloud etc ...?
Hi @c00l0ne! So if the gmail account is already an Apple ID, you won't be able to change it to another account. You can only change an existing Apple ID email address to a new email that is not an Apple ID account. I wish Apple would change that, but for now, that's how it is. THANK YOU so much for watching! I have a proper Apple ID. I also have accounts with the App Store etc that are with an old Hotmail account from iPod days. How do I make the App Store simply align with my usual Apple ID address?
Hi @marcusnz232! It sounds like you have two Apple ID's. Is one for iCloud and the other old hotmail is associated with the App Store for music and such? Unfortunately there is no way to merge two Apple ID's. You could update the old hotmail email address on that Apple ID to something newer if wanted. Other than that, there is no problem to use one Apple ID for iCloud and a separate Apple ID for App Store purchases. THANK YOU so much for watching! It is appreciated more than you know! Great question @Thavisup!
That came from a conversation directly with Apple Support. I often ask them questions on a variety of things if I can't find the answers in their support documentation.
It worked as I was able to change my @comcast.net email address to the iCloud alias that I added to the account.

I don't have the box that says apple id where you changed the email address
@ace9791 had replied to one of the comments :
Apple recently updated the website and doesn't show that box for the standalone Apple ID option.
They moved it to the "Email & Phone numbers" section.
When you select that, you will see a little circle with a minus sign next the email.
Click that and it will give you the option to change the Apple ID email address.

I want to know this too
@@kiki2236 I went ahead, said screw it and changed it shortly after I made this post and I’ve had no issues. Have a blessed day 💪😎
@@kiki2236 Sorry for the absolute wall of text 💀

I’m an elder person so need explaining what you mean by alias emails please. Why would you need alias emails?
Can an Apple ID (primary account) be an iCloud email or does it need to be tied to an account
Great question @petethepete!
Yes your Primary Apple Account can be an iCloud Email address, but it not required. Any valid email address can be used as an Apple Account.
I actually just published a video that talks a lot about changing Apple Accounts in 7 difference scenarios, so I'll link that below for reference:

Hi @melanygonzalez9421!
Changing the email address that is associated to your primary Apple Account will not affect any of the data, purchases or emails with it. It's pretty much just changing the username.

Thank you. You helped me change my Apple ID
What about gmail and messages and subscriptions do they change to a new email
Great question @Marcus_4532!
So it depends. If you're Apple ID is a gmail account and you're changing it to another gmail account, it wouldn't affect any of your emails. When you use a third party email address like gmail for an Apple ID, it's really just like a username for your apple account and services.
If you're talking about iMessages for texting, that should all stay the same in addition to subscriptions.

So strange coincidence 1:
Apple literally just updated the website and doesn’t show that box for the standalone Apple ID option!
They moved it to the “Email & Phone numbers” section. When you select that, you will see a little circle with a minus sign next the email. Click that and it will give you the option to change the Apple ID email address.
Strange thing 2:
That is normal. If you created an iCloud email alias, it will show up there and has the little question mark to the right and when you hover over it, it says "This is an alias of your Apple ID
email address". All it means is that it was the first iCloud alias created.
I saw your other comment, so I'll respond to that there!

THANK YOU so much for watching! It is appreciated more than you know!

Either which one you choose, both will be as equally easy to use.

I think since recently, you can also designate another icloud account as a last resort if you lost complete access to your devices/account emails. But off course, this needs to be done before you lost access. And it should be a trusted person who also takes security serious, like updating their devices etc...
Then you’re scr%€d sorry 😂
i updated my apple id email address on my phone but on the apple id screen just below my name its still showing my old apple id email address. what do i do
Do you have a solution yet? That happened to me today 😢

I’m getting a new phone soon :(
Does the old email get deleted after bcs i do not want my email in use
Hi @HebrewBulgarian,
So think of the Apple ID Account more as a username than being an email address. Even though you use an email address as the username, if you change it, the email address itself shouldn't go away. Usually if it's an iCloud Apple Account it will make it become an alias and you don't have to use it.

Hey there
Can i change my apple id email and still have acess to my apple email for example iCloud email ?

When I tried to change the email address on my phone it said this email address is already being used by another device.
Hi @JeanneKinland!

What do you do when it says email is not available when you try to change it , whats the reason

I can’t get into my Apple account because it keeps a
wanting to do a 2 step verification but I can’t get into my old email account or get a text from a phone number I no longer have to get the code to type in that would enable me to get into my Apple account to change my email address and phone number!!
(For example, you can invite him/her out to a meeting at a restaurant where you can explain your full situation)
I too am facing a similar issue, but with an old Facebook account.

Do i need to backup my phone first before changing my Apple ID ? So after changing my Apple ID to a newer Apple ID my whatsapp conversation will remain as it use to be and wont be deleted or gone missing right ?
Hi @likjoeheng7906,
I have changed multiple Apple ID's without backing up.

What about changing your email address for the App Store? All of your purchases and subscriptions are tied to it, are they not?
Hi @trixr4kids693!
If the Apple ID is associated to the App Store and all of your purchases and subscriptions that you change, the new associated Apple ID will still show and have all of your content that you purchased or subscribed to.
In this video I did the exact same thing. My Apple ID that I used for the App Store and all purchases were previously linked to my old @comcast.net email address. Then I changed it to a new iCloud email address and all is good. Everything is there!

@trixr4kids693
Apple ID's over the years have been very confusing.
