Honestly, the 4k for the price is very impressive. But what surprises me more is how far consumer drones have come in the past years. Both the FPV and regular/smart drone categories.
I do like the video of the mini 4 pro a lot better. You might not even notice if you didn't do it side by side, but the color quality is definitely better. The detail on the tree branches is noticeable. The mini 4K just seems darker. For the price the mini 4k does seem like a nice value. Great comparison, though. Much appreciated!
The Mini4k is a drone for the masses while the 4pro is the drone for the few that have money to burn but aren’t going to fly professionally. For that the Air series is what you probably want.
The best package imo is the 4K base package with one extra battery. Then add a landing pad, third party battery charger and a case from Amazon. You’d be set with that kind of kit.
Picked up a mini 4k from best buy for 300$ no sales tax (n.h), it's a great drone for the price. I want a 4 now.
The regular 4K looked a bit better in my eyes...
I'd say if you're beginner who's looking to go into commercial drone operations relatively quickly where automating part of the flights is part of the workflow, then the Mini 4 Pro is probably more value for money with its Waypoint and Tracking features. Once mastering that drone's features, you could quickly transition to the big, more sophisticated ones which work with platforms like Drone Deploy etc.
The 4k doesnt have the follow me mode like dji neo. Which kinda sucks
I bought the Specta Mini over Prime Days. They had it for 229 and with the discounts I had, I paid 205 total. I got it this Thursday and flew it for 5 minutes yesterday before the rain fell out of the sky. I flew it between the rain today. So far, it's pretty decent but I need more testing on it.
That’s a great deal
I got the mini 4k on launch! Love it, but I prefer to fly fpv
Great video, especially the benchmark - thanks!
Thanks for this video! Definitely very helpful. I'm still struggling to decided between the two haha but this definitely helps a bit
Bro same. What you buying?
@ Honestly, I think I really want the obstacle avoidance and better camera so I might go for the 4 Pro!
@cynthiagarytravel omg thats what i was thinking last night.. and i decided to go for the same.
@@cynthiagarytravel i BOUGHT IT FINALLY TODAY
Есть ли в модели 4к функция active track ?
Never understood how people dont loose connection.. my drones where never able to go so far without losing connection of intervening factors. Not that its necessary😅 great video btw
I’m loving my mini4k but I want something that flies faster and more aggressive like the avata 2
I purchased a DJI Mini 4 Pro earlier this month after my Mini 2 SE fell victim to a significant wind gust that placed it into one of those "Kite Eating Trees". The M4P is a great drone packed with lots of features and it's obstical avoidance works very well. However, i cannot WAIT to get my M2SE back.
The one major dissatisfaction I have (aside from the gaping hole in my wallet where there used to be $$) is that DJI completely REMOVED the ability for users to film in 2.7k on the M4P. DJI [ CLAIMS ] users were not utilizing the 2.7k recording option and therefore removed it.
Well - here's the rub. Recording in 4k requires (of course) a larger amount of space on your SD card. Unfortunately, in order to "preserve files as best as possible" as DJI puts it; videos end up being limited to a size of 3.68GB or 3:43 seconds. On top of this, these videos are going to put a strain on a "beginner" user's PC when they go to edit these videos.
Compare this with being able to record over 10 minutes in 2.7k video and easily being able to edit ONE FILE vs having to stitch together 3 - 4 files that are going to put a heavy strain on your low to mid range performance PC.
Wait, you can only take a 3:34 minute video max with the mini 4 pro?
That’s not a normal issue
@@Y.B.R-27 No - you can record for as long as you want, but "in order to preserve file integrity" DJI limits file sizes to approx 3.67gb. Example - if you go out and fly around and record for 10 min & 42sec at 4k, when you plug the SD card from your drone into your PC, you're going to see 3 videos, each of them 3m 34s in length which you would then need to "stich together" in order to watch the full 10:42 length video you recorded.
This applies for 1080p recordings to, however since this resolution doesn't require as much space on your SD card as 4k does, your 1080p videos won't be "cut" into separate videos on the SD card until about 7m 43s
@@Y.B.R-27 No - Sorry for the confusion, you can record video for as long as your drone is powered, however due to the DJI file size limits (to preserve file integrity) the video files get "cut" into smaller files that you end up having to "stitch" together. Example: If you record a video 10m 42s long in 4k, you're going to see 3 files that are each 3m 34s on your SD card.
The cheaper 4K does not have sensors to avoid collisions?
Nope
Hi was curious if you would choose the mini 4k or the mini 3. I'm on a bit of a budget but also don't want to sacrifice quality (I know contradicting) it seems like the picture quality on the 3 is noticeably better (so worth the extra money?). What would you recommend? Also your reviews have helped me a great amount cant thank you enough. Thanks!
The 3 is substantially better. I’d go with it but $$ matters. Specta mini also a good option.
@@HalfChrome Thanks so much.
@@LucasFiggy I've noticed that UA-cam frequently "auto" selects a resolution that doesn't match what the poster intends users to view. I am constantly having to click on the settings icon at the bottom right and select the highest available resolution when i watch videos on YT
@jmfrmc7686 that is obnoxious
hello and congrats for the good videos.. i an struggling between 4k and fimi mini 3..
what to choose? btw it will be my first drone
Go with the 4K from DJI.
It was clear the video on the right was way ahead. I was thinking please don't tell me it's the cheaper one haha
Does the 4 pro have sideways obstacle avoidance?
Hello nice review ,what it is your opinion between dji 4k vs potensic atmo 4k 3 axis gimbal what you think it is better? Thenk you
The mini 4k is hands down the better drone.
A big advantage to the DJI vs Potensic is the vast array of third party accessories. The Atom is good but not as good as the Mini 4K. Smaller sensor, follow me and way points are very rudimentary. Not a bad choice, really. I simply don’t think it’s the better choice.
Is it worth grabbing the mini 4 pro still? Is there a newer version on the horizon? I know they’ve just released Neo, but do you think DJI will be releasing something to replace mini 4 pro?
Not any time soon
Hi Jack, Good info as always....
My question ,,, Is the DJI charging dock compatible with the Specta mini... I know the batteries are not interchangeable..
The manual is kinda useless and nowhere can I find an email address for them.
Extra batteries are available again on their site
Yes. It is. Check the link to the website below. The cs email is there.
Can we connect RC2 eith mobile while flying drone
can we strap a good action cam on a cheap drone ??
You could
Heck yeah price matters, I wish I could buy one of those cheap jobs, but US only it seems. I get stacks of work out of my Autel Nano its all I need for most jobs.
How is that thing? Love the color profile and "fly anywhere without Geo issue" but the software is limited and its hard to rely on
Is there a goggle set that will work with the Spectra mini
No
I’m confused it say DJI mini 4k vs DJI mini 4 pro in video testing 😢
The mini 4K and Specta Mini are the same exact drone.
Hi Sir. I am a Drone Newbie. Want to buy Drones for hobby and UA-cam. Should I go for DJI Mini 4K or the DJI Mini 4 Pro? or DJI Mini 3 Pro?
Go with whichever fits your budget best
I am teaching a level one drone class in High School. What drone simulator software would you recommend? Please advise when you get the chance. Thank you!
Zephyr Drone Flight Simulator for beginners. Liftoff for FPV or racing
Depends on hardware and budget. Curry Kitten FPV is the best free. Liftoff is my favorite.
@@drink15 Thank you!!
@@HalfChrome Thank you!!
are you sure you didn't manipulate the video quality. I have seen the same drone comparison in another site it was allmost identical but yours mini 4k looked like it was not in 4k. It seems like you manipulated the quality so the expensive one looked better.
The only difference should be battery life and sensors what i know
Did you make sure you were watching in 4k?
Same motors? Anyone , if one would need to replace..
Not sure. They look the same but. Might be different KV. I think the mini 4 pro has bigger propellers. If that’s the case I’d say they might be different. But they still offer about the same power if that’s what your wondering
How’s 4k has better color than the pro
It’s a personal preference. But it is very good.
Do you have to ask for a permission to fly them where you live?
In Spain there are thousands of regulations, both European and the local Spanish ones, and nobody knows which ones apply and you gotta jump through hoops to make it all legal or risk a policeman coming to you and giving you problems ugh This freaking bureaucracy
You can buy 2 mini 4k for the price of 1 mini 4 pro
But both cameras still won’t be as nice.
@ most content is consumed on mobile devices on those screens the difference is extremely small
@Scottytremaine almost 20% of my views on this channel are on smart TVs…
So 80pct aren't ;)
Correct. But it absolutely makes a difference there.
Why is the image of the cheaper 4K look pixelated? It’s blurry
Check you UA-cam settings. Make sure it’s 4k otherwise it degrades the footage.
@@HalfChrome I’m asking why does your dji mini 4K drone footage look blurry and pixel like ?
It is probably the UA-cam settings. It isnt blurry.
Would you like him to answer your question again sir?
I’ve never seen a product review of a camera system where the person doesn’t even understand what they’re looking at and why it’s better.
The only thing you mention is like megapixels constantly and then you talk about the size of the sensor, but you don’t even explain why it’s better in low light and is it actually better than low light?
You don’t talk about how much better. The dynamic range is. You don’t talk about how much better. The progressive frames are and how the pro seems to handle motion. Much better, not to mention your videos are all over exposed and blown highlights on the pro so excuse the image quality in favor because it looks like it grabs more light but the 4K mini was actually keeping the highlights exposed properly.
And you don’t even try to match the footage and shoot the footage with manual exposures or at least with exposure compensation so they’re both exposed similarly
Ridiculous affiliate link nonsense with no real information
Better off getting a used Mavic Pro IMO
The original? No way
@@HalfChrome Not the original but I'd choose the 2 or even the Zoom no prob
@lighthousephoto7143 this mini 4 pro is really good.
@@HalfChrome I know. I own one. :) It's so much fun to fly, super fast and not very loud.. but sometimes the image quality is disappointing compared to my Autel Evo II and Mavic Pro 2. I guess it depends what you're using the drone for.
