Well done. I already have the Neo and I want it for simple flying. Honestly with my anxiety I’m not worried about flying it where I can’t see it 😭 No plans to ever use it with goggles and not really needing a controller so the $200 price point sold me on it
Hey thanks for this detailed comparison of the DJI Neo and DJI Mini 4K. I recently discovered your channel and I'm really impressed with the in-depth information you provided. The breakdown of each drone's pros and cons was super helpful, especially highlighting the Neo's hands-free operation and built-in active track, and the Mini 4K's superior video quality and battery life. I appreciate you mentioning the limitations of the Neo's video quality and short flight time, as those are important factors to consider. Overall, it seems like the Mini 4K is the better choice for most users, especially considering the similar price point with a controller. Looking forward to seeing more of your drone content!
the durabillity is very good so if your going to be flying in a high obstacle area go for the neo, if not then go for the mini however keep in mind if your a really experinced pilot go for the mini even when flying in harsh conditions which i have been doing for a year with only 1 crash (rth) into a roof.
nice job, great video. I just made the same decision. Picked up the 4k today because I can use the batteries from my Mini 2 SE. Now I have another battery I can used in my SE as well. Just made more sense. Using the 4k as as backup in case something happens to my SE.
the 4K mini is basically just the SE 2 with an upgraded camera. You'd be better off using your SE 2 as a backup in case something happens to your 4K to get the best value out of your drones.
Active tracking is why I bought my Neo, I have yet to use that feature (maybe today...) but for the money and features, the Neo wins. The Air 3s looks sexy af tho
The neo is my third DJI drone. I have an air 2s that I use a ton. The sweet spot for me is that the neo can just go in a bag and launch quickly. I recently did two trips and had the Neo in my back back for quick shots. I took it mountain biking and was able to just launch it for some quick shots. There are compromises in image quality but the size can’t be beat. I would love some sort of Bluetooth mini controller to fly it with sticks. Great little drone.
Thanks for Neo vs Mini 4k comparison. In the video around 5:23 you talked about FPV capabilities for the Neo. Are the goggles and controller in your video capable to fly the Neo?
The Neo will get some software improvements, but will never as good as the mini 4k if it comes to video/photo quality. If you just wanna fly, with sometimes a tree bump, the Neo is the better choice
The Neo is significantly more portable in that you don’t need the controller. When comparing the sizes, you have to compare Mini2 + controller to Mini 2. Flying the Neo with a cell phone is significantly less capable than using the controller. However, it is good enough for being able to pull the drone out and get a quick shot. I wish the Neo had panorama and I wish the Mini 2 supported flying with just my cell phone😊.
Honestly, one of the only reasons I didn't get the Neo is the camera quality, whoever says it's "acceptable" is definitely being paid to say so, because the trees and other details are horrible.
My only complaint is the palm landing is hit or miss which can be risky if you can't snatch it out of the air. I've had to take my phone out and land manually a few times. Can't tell if wind causes the issue or possibly lighting (sunset)
It's SO frustrating that they made the DJI Neo compatible with ALL DJI controllers. Where as the DJI Mini 4K (which I have) will ONLY work with a Mobile phone + controller combo. Speaking from experience, using the app + mobile phone + controller, can be a nightmare with my Google Pixel 7 Pro time and again. My drone is pretty much a paperweight right now, due to issues with the app and my phone not talking to the controller. It's SO tempting to get a DJI Neo, if just to remove all that frustration, even at the cost of video quality.
@7:20 the Neo is flying just fine over what looks to be smooth as glass water and well below the 10m recommended height distance. Care to share your secrets for all those that have lost the Neo over water?
A Neo 2 shouldn't be foldable. A drone operating without RC for sure will crash a lot so it should be as solid as possible. Neo is a trooper. To claim Mini 4k video is as good as Mini 3 is ridiculous. Mini 3 had 4k HDR 10 bit and higher bitrate. That's the next big step in image quality and clearly visible. To get this with current DJI lineup you have to buy Mini4Pro.
theres some debate about flying over water with the neo... whats your thoughts ... so if i wanted to buy just the mini 4k would it use the same controller?...thanks...
DJI themselves warn you not to, because if you lose connection over water, in a location u can’t get to, it will hover and then drown. So it’s for the pilot’s benefit they say not to fly over water. Imagine having to WASTE your “care refresh”- redeeming it because u did something stupid, and they specifically said dont do it 😅
depends on drone you prefer and what do you want from it, as for mini 4k, it has longer life battery, longer distance, true 4k quality, optical zoom, better wind resistance & less noisy propeller sound
@@kupis1408 I own the mini 2 and it works just as good. I wanted active track so I purchased the Litchi app to use the active track with the mini 2 but the Litchi app is GARBAGE and can't find my GPS so I purchased the Neo just for the Active track and it's f**king awesome......Thanks for your reply though

This is a really bad comparison you’re comparing apples to oranges. The mini 4K is designed for aerial photography and videography only. The Neo is designed for Vlogger’s It has audio capabilities. You can upload to social media in 916 straight to TikTok, UA-cam and several other social media platforms. With the mini 4 k, you have to take it to a video editor and add audio if you want to do a commentary separately. I’ve owned a mini K 4 and upgraded to a mini pro 3 and they are not anything close to what the Neo is. Two totally different product categories. Attached is a short video I made in 10 minutes with the Neo using the DJI Fly up software. This is what the Neo is designed for. ua-cam.com/users/shorts9H4Ad91KGIY?si=P5SyrQ5lZcs7PLMC
Thanks for this comment saying apples vs oranges really put the difference into perspective. I was thinking of going with the 4k for the improved image quality but my use case is more for social purposes so the neo suits me far better. I don't want to be tied to a controller while on vacation or out while recording, plus the smartphone audio sync is awesome!
Uhh, with the mini 4k being $299, and I’m pretty sure taxes WILL take it over $300, I’m guessing the Neo wins the “best under $300” argument, if for no other reason…it actually IS under $300😅😂
