Another shoutout to STAG Arms for helping us make this series happen. Funny how their rifle got the least camera time in this segment. Oh yea... because it worked out of the box!
Never had a Gucci build my AR’s probably won’t even pass 2k. But given the 700 budget with parts from your website I’m sure I could’ve built something better
I'd love to be sponsored by Stag. I had to sell my original AR under severe financial distress, and when I finally got my feet back under me enough to get a new AR, I got a Model 3. (I'd still love to get m hands on a Model 8, or at least the parts to make my own.) And when it came time to build my own AR's I made a Stag based gucci build with enough spare parts left over to make another Stag based pistol. Then I upped the caliber, and got a Stag 10 (From Classic Firearms!!) just a month ago. The only problems I have ever had with any of the Stags were all ammo based, user error, or build issues, or that my Model 3 is Keymod lol. My original Model 3 is the one I'd grab if I only had one rifle in a SHTF situation.
Pls make a video about special and ridiculous attachments for the picatinny rail. All the visions, flashlights, handles und bipods are boring now. We wanna see some tactical tin opener, lighter and sandwichmaker!

It's nice to see that even with unlimited budgets, and guys that really seem to know what they're doing, they don't always functioned perfectly the first time. I recently finished an AR took it out and had some issues, the parts were good it was assembled fine except for a couple minor errors on the builders part, but I fixed those and it ran great.

Clint… you mentioned towards the end about charging handles. Please do a video about cheap to high end charging handles! Im on my 3rd build and really can’t decide on a specific charging handle. Video should be about what the difference is between the charging handles, weapon size application, speed, feel, and reliability. There are so many out there and a lot of us on the budget build spectrum are always looking for that one sweet spot of an item. A smooth less gassy charging handle speaks volumes when shooting. Thanks again for another awesome and fun video!! Looking forward to the next one
Loving this series fellas! And BTW, I think you should have 2 winners after this series, 1 winner for Gotti's AR, and the other winner gets both, the budget build and the Stag Arms 👍🏽
I think the budget rifle will work in after a few more rounds. As a mechanical engineer, I am intrigued by the budget rifle. I think part of Stoner's genius is that the AR pattern rifles don't need to be hand fitted custom masterpieces to work well. There is sufficient tolerance in the whole design to accommodate an assortment of low bidder components assembled into a rifle that still functions.
I am also an ME, and you are right to an extent. My ABSOLUTE cheapest AR I built just to see if I could cut corners and get something to work runs 100%. Proper gas block alignment is KEY, and not terribly hard to do. I've even done 80%s that are dead nuts reliable. The ONLY time I messed up was a misaligned gas block resulting in a single shot AR and using a Sprinco Blue in a 10.5" that wouldn't cycle reliably, but does with a standard spring all day long. It's not that hard, just be patient.
@@austin735 put a straight edge over the gas port in the barrel, and draw a pencil line to mark the center. Your gas block will likely have a larger hole than the one in the barrel. Mark the middle of the gas block on the face of the gas block. Then, slide the block (with tube installed) onto the barrel and align the mark on the gas block with the line on the barrel. Tighten the set screws. The pencil will come off if you rub it a bit with a wet rag.
this is why I like Anderson barrels for budget builds, they have a simple in them that the rear gas block set screw falls into, makes centering really easy
My first at was a budget out of the box from American tactical imports. Had the same issues as the budget on here initially. My gun shop loved that I brought video and pictures of every issue it had. They sent it back to ATI who found it to be severely under gassed and fixed it at no cost
Clint I wish you could show how you tuned your AR ie: gas block and muzzle device? I think this series is Awesome! Getting each other's feedback is actually helping me learn a little more of what to look for with my AR-15.. So Thanks for that..
Great series. I think it really pushes home the point that buying a fully assembled quality rifle is the best way to go for the first one you own. More reliable operation for the first time owner.
That looked under gassed to me. I try to keep mine between 3-4 o’clock for reliable cycling and his was at like 5 o’clock. That means it barely had enough gas to cycle.
@@dyzastrus5450 but hey it did cycle, so personally I’d call it perfect as long as it runs a variety of loads set up like that. Adding gas is just going to add more recoil that isn’t absolutely necessary.
My stag build is ultra honestly can't wait to finish and the way the stag arm brand came back with top quality and control seems to be a good company making its way back to the industry im excited for sure about there heavy return to market
Y’all really work well together. Like to watch your videos because they are informative but the interaction between the cast on the screen is great. Don’t change a thing.
The cheap build is either under gassed (gas block walking off the gas port or the gas tube may be inappropriately indexed) or you may have used a rifle length buffer spring... measure the length of the spring, if it's closer to 12in, it's a rifle spring... (yes it is longer than a carbine spring).
I really dig the Stag rifle. The others are badass in their own right, but my go-to is a Ruger with iron sights only. No accessories. Out of the box nail driver. I just realized I have to pick up the sling he's running on it too. Very cool!
I personally own one of each of the spectrum. Now the firearms I own are are on the low side of this testing. My budget being $550 build, the out of the box, is a S&W M&P 15 with cosmetic changes and a polished trigger group, and my upper end build is about $3,400 (although I bought all of the parts over a period of time, buying when deals were available so I got it quite a bit cheaper than I would have). The "higher end" rifle was built with the internals aspect mainly in mind as far as trigger, BCG, Gas system, buffer system and barrel. Although I didn't cheap out on the externals. I tend to like each one of them equally, with a few thousand rounds through each of them, I have not had an issues following the break in period and they seem to all have their individual benefits. Now I will say that my $3,400 rifle was more finicky when it came to break in and I believe you run into that when you match tighter tolerance, different coating materials and more performance oriented internals. All I did was ran it a little "over oiled" during break in period and never had more than a handful of malfunctions. Now it is everything I wanted as far as performance. As far as function vs all out performance... "you get what you pay for" but my $550 rifle gets the job done smoothly as well as my M&P. Either way they're all AR 15's and do what AR 15's do. I enjoyed the video and have had a similar experience myself as far as opinion. I figured I would share.
I can see that the Marines need training on assembling AR,s from us Navy guys. But then again Ben did help me pick out my parts for my build. Of course that was like five years ago.
Entertaing video you guys are having fun. Good to see Matt and Alek finally at the range. Also enjoyed Alek's cordless technology which appears to be quite proven and reliable. Have a safe weekend.
If you don't have a dimple jig put a little groove, and a do mean little, with a file right where the set screw seats. Just a little notch that your fingernail catches on is all you need. It's not a dimple but it really will help. Especially with a bit of rocksett.
Enjoying the banter between all three of you! I do believe that before you give away the guns, each of you should sign the stock or brace of your individual builds. Or in Matt's case his customized STAG Arms!
Rocktight will work but you have to bake it after putting it in or if you put a ton in it leave it for like weeks to set but really just bake it at like 250-300f for 15-20 minutes.
For someone who was in the military, all of their safety manipulation sucks. Bring the weapon to your should, identify your target through the sites then move your selector lever
How much money in ammo did it cost to diagnose the budget build. Could add up quickly if you are paying for range time and ammo multiple times to get the gun up and running.

as some one who (use) to have a DPMS Oracle 5.56 it was out of box and there wasn't much to it but it did shoot well. When I see you guys shooting your various rifles from high end to price friendly I have to say that it all comes down to how much you want to put in from the start of a rifle to the end game of when your satisfied with the rifle and there is no more need for change to said rifle. For instance, take me. I use to have a rifle spent a little more than $500 on it out of box couldn't really spend a lot more it did not have a free float rail so I could not mount any attachments to it but it did shoot well enough for what I wanted. I made the mistake of selling it to a friend of a friend in hopes of saving enough to buy a more expensive rifle but that ending not happening and I hemorrhaged the money I saved up over the past year and now I am back down to looking at a more money saver rifle again or win your give away wink wink. so I will just say this if we all had the money to put in to a high-end rifle we would but if not and have to find cheaper means of owning a rifle that is why parts and attachments are enter changeable and more diverse, so we can up grade them to better performance when money is able to be spend on such things. thanks E. When I built my AR in 9mm, I had put the upper in the vice block and tightened it a bit too hard during assembly. I had to cycle it several times before it let the BCG slide freely. I was so mad at first, I thought I had ruined the upper. 100 round break-ins does a lot for a gun.
you dont need a dimple jig... use the gas block it's self to witness mark the rear hole. Use a hammer punch for the initial dimple then a 16th inch carbide drill bit to make a small dimple in the barrel right where you need it... Remember the gas block DOES NOT go directly against the journal shoulder. Leave about a 32nd of an inch between the shoulder and the gas block.
The budget is still undergassed, but a lot. The brass is ejecting at 5-530 PM, when you really want it at 3:45-4. Fix the under gas issue and it’ll be fine.
Finishing a 'build' on a HP4595TSFG/BP2xPPLAZ4x32. Found a used Magpul sling & it has 4+1 clips mounted. I'll send vid when the leaves drop & the next ridge range is 1-300 yds. Got $500 into it.
How does a gun builder strip threads? When your supposed to torque all screws to manufactures spec. with a torque wrench. So a $6600 Gucci gun what else didn't you torqued?
Semper Fi - Dont forget our Birthday in 5 say! Great vids- Cheers from the Wood of Maine ! keep on keeping on ! show more of that humbleness ! to be honest, 500 rnds should be min limit for a successful break in .. after the 500..muscle memory has usually been set for that firearm.. been my experience..
"It's just as gooooood." Um.... well, it will go bang but you get what you pay for. One idea would be for a how to tweak your AR to modify recoil impulse, mitigating muzzle rise and what not to make it "a more comfortable shooter".
Clint you guys should try a Frankenstein gun see who can use parts from the most different companies and cheapest parts include alibaba to make an AR that works...
I would genuinely love to see how my EDC rifle (actually it's a pistol/"firearm") would stack up against Clint's Gucci arf. Mine won't get quite the same terminal ballistics as it's an 8.26" Bren 2Ms in 5.56. It was also purposefully made as a CQB tool that can fold up nice and tidy to be carried around all day in a discreet backpack. I think it would be an interesting comparison just due to the build tier and the amount of mods my gun has (the 2s conversion rails, Dan Haga lower, Ambi 3 position binary trigger, etc) that makes it more versatile. It's just a bit heavier and is a short stroke piston so the gun is unbelievably flat shooting even at 600-700 rpm with some practice. But in all fairness, I don't actually give a damn about what rig you have so long as you ensure it runs well, practice with it, know it's limitations/purpose, and you are supportive of everyone else who appreciates firearms of any make/model/style. I worked my ass off to get my Bren and to set it up exactly how I wanted for the purpose I intended. I've got several other ARs and have seldom found any guns I don't like to play around with. But when it comes to ensuring that your rifle will perform at "Rittenhouse" standards (be able to hit targets under extreme stress every time) then you have to decide how much that reliability/accessibility is worth to you.
My rifle is like 2k. Troy upper with 12in Mlok rail, BA 14.5 barrel w/ capital armory ASR brake, nickel bcg, geissle trigger, geissle braided spring with h2 buffer, Dpms lower, BCM gunfighter grip, DD stock (soon to be BCM), eotech w/ trij 3x magnifier. Shoots like a dream. Her name is Christi
I honestly prefer buying higher end complete rifles or complete uppers because l have seen somebody buy a bunch of mid/high tier parts for a build that did not cycle. Maybe after I learn some more l will try to build one eventually but you cant go wrong with an out of the box lwrc, geissele, DD, bcm, or something like that

To me this is like watching James May, Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson but with guns. Love it.
Awesome builds even the out of the box setup.
I would be interested in how they printed on paper. Which one will shoot a group at say 200 yards.
Said like a true engineer p always equal plenty
Personally just wondering what parts would be the best upgrades for the two lower end builds or any AR-15
you dont need a dimple jig... use the gas block it's self to witness mark the rear hole. Use a hammer punch for the initial dimple then a 16th inch carbide drill bit to make a small dimple in the barrel right where you need it... Remember the gas block DOES NOT go directly against the journal shoulder. Leave about a 32nd of an inch between the shoulder and the gas block.
Out of the box guns, in general, are underrated.
Great vid. Loved the feel of a group of buddies at the range hanging out. Having fun. And just talking. Nice work.
WPS sling? How doy you like it?
The budget is still undergassed, but a lot. The brass is ejecting at 5-530 PM, when you really want it at 3:45-4. Fix the under gas issue and it’ll be fine.
I feel like what you guy's are doing is great and I learn something new with each video I watch.
Finishing a 'build' on a HP4595TSFG/BP2xPPLAZ4x32. Found a used Magpul sling & it has 4+1 clips mounted. I'll send vid when the leaves drop & the next ridge range is 1-300 yds. Got $500 into it.
So if I remember right. You're using an aluminum carrier from JP. I'm curious if you replaced with a full mass and got rid of the interior AGB yet?
How does a gun builder strip threads? When your supposed to torque all screws to manufactures spec. with a torque wrench. So a $6600 Gucci gun what else didn't you torqued?
I like the honesty. In one aspect if we go Alec’s route we can arm 5-6 friends or have 1 well armed Clint.
Dude the light mount had me dying! 😂😂😂
Favorite line in the episode was “yea, she works good Cuhh” 😂😂😂
Learned some good info on Ar builds!!! Thanks for the video
I love the Savy Sniper slings, great product
Clint you guys should try a Frankenstein gun see who can use parts from the most different companies and cheapest parts include alibaba to make an AR that works...
I don't use a cable or pressure pad! Love it!
Have issue with a gas block.. easy just get the A2 frame gas block and that will never broke or move
You guys are making me smile 👍👍👍keep the videos coming😊😊😊
If you have a pressure pad, the Cloud Defense mount is pretty darn nice.
You guys work well together. Enjoyed very much. Just fun
Stag is definitely one of the most underrated brands out there. Cool video.
It's a very good gun.
At the end I think the high end build wiil win hands down my opinion Be Safe and God Bless 🙏
I think ya need about 5 more ranger bands there Alex!! Nice builds guys. Love how you covered various budgets! Semper Fi!
Awesome video "the flashlight had me rolling..
You can tell the stag still has gas issues by the way the shell is being ejected! All nice builds guys
Cheap: Under gassed, still short stroking even after the "fix". Play with the buffer weight or tune the recoil spring a bit.
I honestly prefer buying higher end complete rifles or complete uppers because l have seen somebody buy a bunch of mid/high tier parts for a build that did not cycle. Maybe after I learn some more l will try to build one eventually but you cant go wrong with an out of the box lwrc, geissele, DD, bcm, or something like that
How much is that stag rifle? And model?
I wish you would expand on some of the terms that you use. While trigger freeze sounds self explanatory, I don't want to assume anything.
nice! next one is ak build
Look at the ejection pattern on the stag. it is undergassed. Very unlikely that it was a mag issue.
Informative, humorous video. Thank you. 👍😊🇺🇸✝️
