    I have one. It's great and I don't have the same criticism's, which I might add seem overly nit-picky. Feels like a tank in my hands. As far as the look of the brushed aluminum being 'covered' by the velcro? Don't just lay strips across it. I do that too on my black Voodoo Labs board, but here with a little more precision I have all my pedals mounted and no Velcro is visible letting the brushed aluminum shine though. (if that's your thing) In the odd chance I replace a pedal with a radically different shape/size and need to rearrange the Velcro, so be it but I doubt that will ever be necessary.

    Honest as ever Andy. If they are clever they will take notes and tweak the next generation of this board. Everything you said is correct and very obvious. When you stand back it doesn’t require a lot to bring it up to the pro level. A few common sense things. As a home only user and a fender fan I would snap this up if I didn’t have a board already. I could fix everything myself. Brilliant review Andy, thanks ❤️👍👍

    Great honest review and always entertaining! A thought about the Neutrik connectors, I was wondering if the mounted from the inside, kinda like how you put the grommets in ultimately. I don't have any Neutrik connectors to know if the exterior jack side has a different diameter than the internal connection side. I agree that might not be the most "professional" board. If you put a little bend in the board trying to install the power supply, I wonder how easy it would bend when stepping on pedals and say you lose your balance a little. Might be ok gauge metal for steel, but maybe a little light for aluminum? All that being said, the power supply looks like a great unit! Great job as always. Fair and unbiased.

    That USB port would be pretty handy with the Peterson StroboStomp Mini tuner pedal. Its 9v DC power connector is on the side, which makes it a little less space conscious than it should be, but it has a USB C connector from which it can be powered on top, where the in/out jacks also are. So...neat.

    Great review, appreciate the honesty. It always seems like most companies don't get these things right. If you are a gigging musician, you definitely need something that will hold up traveling on the road. This pedalboard would last me about 6 months(the carrying strap I would give a month before it snapped off) and I would be replacing it. Not pro level, but a great board of you were gonna leave it set up at a rehearsal space or at home. Cheers!

    a fuzz face won't work with the 9v to DC connector. I tried it with a voodoo labs one and it does not work (only after reversing the polarity it works). these 9V to dc connectors are designed for pedals that do have a dc jack, but do not have a battery cavity.

  • @AleSuggests
    @AleSuggests 4 місяці тому

    I think these boards are conceived as an extremely lightweight solution for the musician on the go (especially the small sized one, which is the one you reviewed). That would explain the plastic parts... it was done wisely to cut the overall weight. The size of the small board may potentially fit a hand luggage for musicians that don't want to check in their gears in pelican cases or pay an extra seat. And even for people that check in their gear weight is important. The plastic clips may not fall IF your cables are nice and tight and soldered to size (at least for the most part). The only criticism I have regarding the board, though, is the fact that Fender does not state the weight of it on their spec sheet, or anywhere really... could this mean that they were not able to cut the weight as much down as they wanted and could not advertise what was supposed to be the strongest strength of their board? Also, the USB PDs on their power supply... nice idea, but the connectors should be on the outer part... I wouldn't want to flip the board upside-down hunting for those small USB ports. The only criticism I agree with in your video was about the bag... zips, hooks and loops must be durable!

    I think Andy is dwelling too much on the 'Professional' tag. These are for bedrooms and hobbyists. I don't think anyone would use one of these for serious gigging. I could be completely wrong on this but that's who I see this PB being for.

    I have the medium size board and for home users it definitely fits the bill. Professional though? Hmm possibly not so much. The feet should be glued on, I agree. The plastic clips to run the cabling underneath should be upgraded too but they include the zip ties, if that's what you prefer? The plastic sides I don't mind as I'm sure they'll definitely hold up. I'm far from being a Fender fanboy (10 guitars, only 1 Fender) too but I think the highlight for me is the actual power supply. The Velcro isn't some crappy cheap stuff either and they give you a good amount of it. I'm very happy with both my purchases (pedalboard and LVL8 power supply) and I'm sure for me it will definitely stand the test of time. I've seen enough crappy DIY pedalboards with mods that looked horrible but to each their own. So long as it does the job for you, that's the right one.

  • @grimreaper-qh2zn
    @grimreaper-qh2zn 9 місяців тому +1

    Number 1. The "Feet" are loose so you can move them to you preferred position. You can then tack glue them to that position. The clips are a brilliant idea as you can move pedals (and the wiring) around without having to cut off the ties. I have the middle size board. I must say that the clips on mine stay in position under all normal conditions. Fender give you the option to use the ties if that is what you prefer. My Neutrik connectors fitted perfectly so I don't know why you had a problem. Were they "Real" ones or Chinese copies? I think you over tighten the power supply holder. If you are worried about the supply moving use some Pedal board tape.

    No! that's not the medium size board, that is the small size board! Also, no, the holes on the front arent for the jack socket things, they are for power cables or patch cables. You jump to conclusions so quickly man XD.

    Nothing worse than reviewing something you lose interest or dont like early especially if you bought it with your own money especially when you get excited about getting it

      I disagree. It’s very useful to experience something you dislike. If you buy online you can always return it

    ok i`m also very negative today, great pedal but garbage video..or vice versa!? the quality of the gear seems to be very mood dependent 😂👌 but to be serious here, fender is going to loose quality by just increasing quantities, sad to see and the prices are also getting overboard, what do you think? the new jaguar guitars are a perfect example for that 🤥💰

    • @TheGuitarGeek
      @TheGuitarGeek  2 роки тому +1

      I think the prices are indicative of the current economical situation. I do not think fender (or others) are being Greedy. Gibson however are pricing their stuff so that only the elite can buy.

    Fender: Look! It's got plastic bits!!!!!!...fairly essential, critical plastic bits we might add. And..and..and..a piece of thin Aluminum .... with a bend in it!

    ROFL... I just looked at how much that craptacular mess costs and can't stop laughing. Pedal Train and Voodoo Labs Power supply for me. I would rather buy a cheap china pb for what that thing does. Fender fanboys unite and get yours today!!!! OMG what a hunk of junk.

      It is a cheap Chinese pedal board, you don’t have to use the fender power 😂
      Actually I don’t know where it’s made.
