    Discover the body friendly golf swing that is geared toward senior golfers and golfers looking for a more pain free golf swing.
    Let me ask you this: do you have a lot of golf mobility, or do you find it harder to create golf swing rotation? The Vertical Line Swing system is a body friendly swing that helps create more rotation by helping you get more length in your backswing without trying to restrict hip turn in backswing, because the worst thing you can do with limited range of motion is restrict movement.
    Instead, feel your swing going more vertical than around the body, creating some freedom and extra length in your backswing.

    You are 100 percent correct sir. Instructors for past 15 years since I've been playing golf have never talked a more simple swing than you just touched on. The vertical swing should be the only way to teach. Much thanks to you for clearing the clutter in my head.

      I used this swing for years. It's basically how I taught myself to swing the club. My problem is that I fail to go down the line on the follow through, partly because I start too far on the outside on the backswing and then I pull to the right (I'm a lefty) on my follow through. I call it my baseball swing - it goes far but too far right. But now that I recognize that it is ok to swing like this, I'll work on my take back being less outside and my follow through down the line. High hopes here!

    I'm 74 and this technique works! Earlier this week I shot 48/42 for 18 holes which has been typical all year long. Last year I averaged 86 for 18. So yesterday - after watching your video 3 times - I played the same course in the same weather conditions and shot 42/41. My shots were longer and much more solid! Now I need to watch your putting video at least 6 times to maybe break 80! Thanks so much Todd!

    I'm 76 and make a trip to the range today. I have been trying to work my swing around my body and having all kinds of problems. Out of frustration I picked the club straight up and hit the best shot of the day, with no pain or stress. I may be standing slightly too close to the ball, but I feel like I at least have a chance to hit a decent shot. This video confirms what I was thinking. Thanks!

    I tried for years to make the horizontal/Hogan type swing work for me. One day, our pro at the time said your shoulder flexibility would make you naturally a vertical swinger. Then he added a swing th9ught of punching the ball with my right hand as I'm approaching contact. Wow, what a difference it made. Was hitting draws for the first time in my life😊 I will completely agree that if you can't get a horizontal plane swing to work for you, definitely give this some practice and see what happens

    You vids really address us older seniors in mid 70’s with a “hopefully” simple, repeatable swing. Trying to turn like when I was in my 20’s and 30’s is becoming a disaster. Can only repeat every 4 or 5 hits and ugly the others - making game not much fun. I have tried the vertical but still tried to turn. This drill looks like it will be a huge help. Thanks so much.

Today I got a large bucket and tried a bunch of stuff.. I came out with the exact swing you described. Hit 10 in a row. I cant even hit straight attempting the swing I had even a few short years ago. Your body really has to be in sync with the swing that works for you. At 55 I've lost a bit of the snap and power, but adjusting to a more vertical backswing seems to work wonders. A lot of the power comes automatically with the proper wrist hinge anyway. Thank God for that.

    Excellent video. I spent years and literally tens of thousands of balls with this "rotary" stuff and clockwise loops at the top and all the rest only to find THIS works better as you get older. I urge everybody to try it. Do not even think about copying 25 year-olds you see on Sunday because those moves are impossible as you get older and probably impossible for most golfers at any age.

    Todd are you basically keeping the shoulders plane the same depth/angle on the downswing as the backswing & no shallowing of the hands & club on downswing?.
    Is this downswing shoulder plane the key to stop coming over the top & slicing for me?.
    I also wanted to ask that even with your Vertical Line Swing is it correct to start the downswing from the ground up by 1st feeling pressure/weight on front foot to cause arms to follow or are you mainly using an upper body (arms/shoulders) swing with lower body swinging in unison with it?.

    This is a revisit for me Todd to the VLS. I, at times loose my way, so I have to come back for a re-indoctrination on its principles. This time, I felt I was loosing distance because of a rotational error. I think what I was doing was placing more emphasis on my right shoulder going back, rather than my right hip. Therefore, in doing so, I was getting a restricted hip turn leading to a loss of distance on my shots. I'll let you know after tomorrow's round if this was the solution!

    I'm 55 yrs old and loosing flexibility. I do tend to swing more around than vertical but am more likely to overdraw/hook the ball. How can I use the vertical line swing to decrease back torque but not hook the ball so much?

      @USGOLFTVshow  2 роки тому

      John, good question. We like to see the lead arm work more up vs around as you mentioned. This in itself will require less torque. If the ball is hooking, we always look at the takeaway first. Make sure the clubface is not too closed early. This is a major cause of the hook. Here is more information on the program www.verticallinegolf.com/landing-page1623961540024

      Thank for the support! Our goal is the help golfers find their best way, not THE way. We have to stop using world class athletes and tour professionals as our models. 99.9% of the golfing world is not capable of doing what they do.

    As a 6’4 young but not flexible guy this my natural swing. Standing closer to the ball feels natural too, think I just need my lie angles adjusted more upright because I get a lot toe marks on mats. I’ve tried to practice a flatter swing more away from the ball but it’s just way too inconsistent and uncomfortable for me.

      Great points made here...the Vertical Line Swing works for all body types with some distinct advantages for taller players.

    can an upright swing make it more difficult to hit a draw?

    • @USGOLFTVshow
      @USGOLFTVshow  11 місяців тому

      Yes if it does not include a full hip and shoulder turn. This is a cornerstone of the Vertical Line Swing which you can find here www.badliegolfbook.com/

    Thats what my natural swing now since i can't do em normal swing rotation anymore because of my previous car accident years ago in my early 20's that kinda messed up my upper back.. some of my friend trying to teach me the so called atlethic posture Rory's swing but i can't do it cause i can't keep my back as straight as i used to be while bending down and i need to stand almost straight up to be able to swing.. i'm 37 right now and people said i swing like an old man but i don't give a damn anymore cause right now imma just enjoy playing golf the way i wanted to be according to my own body limitation lol

    I think as opposed to swing more vertical with arms in front of body back and through.S/j. i become stuck with a rounded swing,betteer with a vertical swing with arms in front of body back and through.S/J.out

    Age has nothing to do with it for me. I have almost no space between my bottom rib and hip bone…which makes it impossible to bend over at impact. I can do it, but it pinches my side. I’m now searching for upright swing techniques

    You still have all that arm bend and arm hang downward that leaves for way to much variation from swing to swing. This is trying to create the single plane swing in a more unnatural movement that will create more chopping down motion. Instead of extending arms longer and straight in front of you and staying that way and extended which creates greater reproducibility.

    I think alot of the best pros use the upright swing rather than a flat swing.

    The reason ben hogan was so renowned was becuase he was a 1 in a trillion talent...it isnt as simple as "swing flat like hogan and the swing will be just as easy as he made it"...this ignores the fact that ben hogan could do many many.many things that you or I simply cant do no matter how hard we practice...i like todds swing better for the average guy like me
