Did not sound bad at all for $250.
I’ve had good luck with the few DH Gate knockoffs I’ve ordered. After taking them to my man at my town’s sole music store’s repair shop for a setup and wax-potting (if humbuckers), they’re perfectly nice, esp for how inexpensive they are.
I think for a mod project those guitars are perfect. With a solid finish, just switch pickups, tuners, maybe the brige, give it a nice setup and put your own logo and youve an awesome guitar for a fraction of the price
I agree. I considered two chances when ordering one: if neck and body should be good enough I could think about an upgrade otherwise could be good as a dummy for praticing on guitar works. Finally what i've got was a pretty good guitar except for the poor hardware. Once upgraded I've got a really good guitar and I was not so much surprised to be honest
I am looking to purchase a guitar like this to do just that! Switch up tuners, wires, pickups, bridge and go to a store to get the guitar set up :D

10:00 Here's my personal stance when it comes to knock-off / counterfeit guitars. If the model is still being produced and distributed by the original manufacturer, then generally I will purchase from the manufacturer (overpriced USA signatures included).
If the guitar model in question is no longer being sold/is discontinued by the manufacturer (such as the ESP mx220/250 models), as long as it's made clear that it isn't an officially licensed guitar, I think it's fair game.

For $250 the guitar doesn't sounds bad at all. Replace the pickups and adjust the action and you got a steal of a deal.Maybe replace the tuners and you're still under $500.
A lot of the times it's the player. A dope player can make most guitars sounds good.

I've seen battered up relic Gibson's going for that.
Makes no sense, after 1500 the quality is negligible and modern cheap guitars can and do play better that intermediate ones...
With these you get " A whole lot more than what to pay for"...You can pay $1200 for paint in the west.. Great platform for upgrade.. fret dress, hardware etc... They'll change the logo for nothing..

this is dope if you ask me, I'm dirt poor, and I have a few vids on my channel of a few DHgate Washburn Dimebag Darrell replicas, I asked for the Washburn, and dean in one case, to not be put on the guitar, but they don't ship them like that, I don't know why, and the only reason one says dean, is because it's basically a Dean from hell, but on a Washburn body, and I really wanted that lol dude has the template from the factory from Indonesia, and dude is really knowledgeable about guitars, so i pulled the trigger on a few of them, and after a little bit of work, change a few pickups, and polished some frets, and they play amazing, and dude trust me, there is no way I'm owning a real Washburn Dimebag southern cross, if you look at it, you can tell its a replica, so thats cool for me I would never try to pass them off as real, but they play great, just know that a lot of those dudes dont know what they are doing half the time so really drill the seller and see what he knows, if you were ever to go that direction, anyway, great video!!

*Yeah, bear in mind most every factory is using CNC machines for over 90% of the manufacturing process including the painting.* Low tech factories will still use duplication routers so they can cut bodies and necks at a high rate of speed.
*What matters to me is the selection of wood used.*
CNC and duplicators will outperform the best luthiers on earth, but what they cut the pieces out of obviously matters. *Modern guitars, including major brands, don't have the feel of vintage anymore, that's for sure.*
For 7 grand, I'm assuming the authentic feels like a couple of bowling balls.
These guitars can be great, pretty much by now everyone that orders one of these knows, the hardware and electronics are crap. But for a few hundred dollars you can turn these into guitars that look and sound like guitars that costs thousands. One of my favorite guitars that I own is a LP Custom Chibson. I had them put in the "Supreme" inlays and it's a iced tea quilted maple burst, it's beautiful. When I ordered it, I ordered a roller bridge, new stop tail piece, a Tusq nut, locking tuners and a set of seymour duncans w/ pots. I kept the original jack and switch when I installed the pups, only cause I forgot to order replacements. Two years ago, I took out he seymours cause I wanted them in a different guitar and put in a set of EMG 57/66's which came w/ switch and jack. And that guitar is phenomenal. I have nice "real" guitars in my collection even Japanese made Ibanez Rg's which I'm a huge RG guy, and I have a few different LP's from different brands and I still play that particular Chibson probably more than any other guitar. It just feels great, sounds amazing, looks great which I believe looks can help inspire.. It's just a great guitar. Got it for 250 w/ the "custom" stuff I wanted like the ebony fretboard w/ the supreme inlays.
Put a EMG Hetset and you're good to go.
Thanks for this video , I plan to buy a "BC Rich Stealth" from DHgate because of the killer price. This makes me a bit more confident to order it now. Buying new hardware wouldn't be an issue if needed.

Got one from AliExpress for like 300$ a couple of years ago and it’s awesome! I just had to replace the pickup and the nut, it still plays really nice.. beats spending 1000 or more for a signature chuck schuldiner stealth

“I’m not a set up dude” when the truss rod was mentioned. I thought that was just part of playing guitar …Been playing for 33 years and understanding the truss rod was something that came with the game. Whatever…but I can’t imagine Not understanding the impact it has on my playing, let alone, how to adjust it. I just find that strange. I learned that you have to be your own tech, I mean, how are you supposed to explain to a tech that you hire when you become famous/bussy if you don’t even know how to adjust it yourself. It doesn’t mean you don’t know how, it just means you don’t have time to do it yourself.

James Hetfield's original Iron Cross guitar is a Gibson Les Paul. So aren't all the ESP and LTD Iron Cross guitars just copies? You can ask for customizations from the sellers too (like wax dipped pickups etc., or adding the ESP logo to the headstock, ebony fret board). Try adding those extras on an ESP custom for those prices.
Les paul is a sit down guitar,I hang strats up high for shredding.I never realized how big I am,the Les Paul looks tiny on me in pictures,and live I played it up high and looks like a toy and it is a real 1986 studio Black with gold hardware.

This guitar may be something like a base to a project, not as a guitar as itself, I think that if You are going to play this guitar as it arrived it doesn't make sens all gear has to be exchanged to legit gear (tuning keys, pickups, wires... )
It is imposibble to but weel playing guitar for 300 $ :D the saving has to be somewhere.

The Minor finish ( Paint) flaws shouldn't upset the gigging musician..A $7500 guitar will have "finish flaws" after a few gigs anyway.. Replace crap hardware, even Aftermarket "Chinese " replacement pickups are a huge upgrade on Chinese pups these come with ..Give em a "fret dress" and you'll have a winner... I did this to a Les Paul Replica ,and my replica is as good as my 1991 Les Paul Standard
The headstock was different too. Didn't have JH's signature and the truss rod cover didn't say "iron cross". Im not seeing the other videos about the upgrades and giveaway you were talking about?

The neck is small, thats what I felt.

Needs wax potted pickups, 500k pots, also check your input jack, replace with switchcraft.
Or for 200 bucks get a set of EMG's, they come w/ pots, jack and switch
I’ve bought a white iron cross replica and bought real James hetfield pick ups and papa het strings with a white fang pick so I’ve technically made my own original iron cross
Really fun video. To me the most crucial check for a guitar is an 'intonation' check. Was the intonation correct from the open string position to the 12th fret position, or was the intonation at least adjustable with this guitar by moving the bridge saddles back and forward individually?

Most crucial is neck twist and neck mount quality. Thats make/break pretty much. The rest can be fixed, even misplaced tailpieces and bridges.

My friend bought one. And I noticed something up front of headstock and rubbed it and turns out they lightly painted over a painted on JH logo and esp logo

Not $700 for upgrades... Pickups for example are total crap on the shipped item but $35 Chinese Aftermarket Pickups are Killer !! Check out YT for Chinese Pups vs Duncans etc. A bit of an eye opener..Need to replace all Hardware on these and fret dress..
Remember, Eddie Van Halens original guitar ( now priceless) cost $180... The factories will put any logo on it for you so it's not a counterfeit guitar.... merely a copy.

Ebay has some Chinese copies of dimbags with Washburn and Dean logos on them for around 500 they look good I have an original but want to try one so I don't ruin my original one looking at the dime slime one

These guitars with a good setup and parts are scary good at times. Some can be terrible and there is no fixing it or you could get one that blows you away of the china made guitars like this. I have a few LP's that i got and after bridge, tuners, pots, nut. Even with the stock epiphone pickups they came with (not sure if they are real or fake), the guitars blew me away. I own real Gibsons and these guitars just scary good. But ive seen a lot of people get garbage. But recently it seems the guitars are getting more consistent and if ya shop around and find one of the better sellers, you can increase your chances of getting a decent guitar. I still own my Gibsons, but to be honest after my experience, i cant see spending as much as Gibson asks for their guitars anymore. Id rather buy another brand that hasnt priced most players out and has features that Gibson still has not brought to some of their guitars. Just saying. I love my 20+ year old Gibsons, but i do not like their newer guitars.
I like the pickup covers on that guitar. I also never leave guards on my LP or ES 335 etc style guitars. Like on these amazing looking Gibsons with amazing woods you have this plastic covering some it ? Why ? lol
How was this guitar after a setup ? Curious what you guys think. As i said above with proper parts and a setup these things can be pretty good guitars truly. I had seen and played older china made copies that were terrible. But the last 3 years ive seen some guitars that really do make the reasoning behind spending a ton of money on a name brand less and less. Lets just say we have options these days we didnt use to take seriously.

What do you think about remix contest, is it waste of time since most of the time winning song is pure shit. I don't say my remix is best, I'm still beginner and I don't compete in 90% of remix contests; But I heard so many good songs on all competitions and winning song is always garbage and nothing special. And in 90% of the time remix song is pure copy of the original song, no original ideas like new melody and such. Hope you will make vid about it since no one is talking about it and you said you done ton of remixes in your lifetime.

I disagree with the copy thing. There were no guitars that looked like an SG or Les Paul so any guitar with that body that is not from the original company is a copy/ripoff the only thing is these companies that have copied these body styles are big name companies and they have money.

To be fair, James doesn’t play the lead on fade to black. Kirk’s les Paul is set up for playing leads high up on the frets, where James’s guitars are mostly used for playing rhythm.

I've been building guitars for a long time, you can't build that guitar for $300 in the US, the materials and time alone are so inflated here that's why the prices are so retarded here. Buy the guitar from China and put whatever parts you want on it and pay thousands less! I could make that guitar look and play pretty close to the real guitar for another $5-600 in parts and labor and it would be a cool guitar.
Its a shame that the only accurate building replicas Rareelectricguitars has gone out of business since the pandemic.
I have the esp mx220 eet fuk from them it cost me about 530$ with shipping (710$ with the hardware upgrades) and the build accuracy is flawless.

@@marcorossi7274 Honestly, not horrible. I have it in C Standard and it holds tuning pretty well. Although on the highest string frets 1-8 are nearly unplayable. But that might have something to do with the action.

Most of the tone comes from the amp, signal path & the player. A cheap guitar will sound good with a great amp vs an expensive guitar will sound like sh*t thru a crappy amp.

They don't have to brand it. The body shape is obviously and completely off from the ESP body shape. Look at the upper bout where the pickup selector is. The body is coming straight out off the neck before curving like a typical Les Paul does, a ESP body comes off at a angle from the neck. There is something odd about the cutaway too, I just can't pin it down. As soon as he pulled it out of the box I was like Jesus Christ they buggered that shape up.
Only a blind idiot would be fooled by this particular guitar.
Sometimes China makes stuff pretty good quality but not always. The chinese factories use poor quality tuners pick-ups usually suck on em. But if you sink about 300.00 into one. It may be decent then. Most of the time there's about 50/50 percent chance of getting something good. Not trying to make chinese factories sound bad but it's just a risky thing to do. Because sometimes no matter what you do to them to make them better there's still some issue at times.
The original Hatfield guitar 🎸 sold for millions of dollars and the owner of Amazon bought it and he doesn't know the first thing about playing the guitar! He also bought the AC DC lead guitar players black Strat for millions! It escapes me why there was a Dhgate guitars on eBay!
