- And so, the curtains fall curtains finally fall on the brand new B10 generation Audi S5 Avant. The UA-cam video goes up online this very moment in full detail so go and check that one out.
If the name is confusing, is because Audi has merged the A4 and A5 together since the A4 platform will become electric, the internal combustion will be the 3,5,7,9 etc.
The new A5/S5 family features for the first time ever an Audi combustion engine to enable partially electric driving thanks to the new MHEV plus technology.
It features also Audis brand new interior, with lots of new tech that we will cover in the latter posts. For now, enjoy the first photos and the detailed video.

For everybody that wants to know my opinion. Here it comes. I know the world is huge and we all have different tastes, but since I’ve been doing this for over 20 years, I think I have a pretty good idea what is good and what is not. All I can tell you is what I felt when I saw this car live and as I was shooting it. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I’ve been very very critical towards Audi and their direction the last 5 years, and also the lack of new exciting models. But this, this made me feel so good inside. Yes, we have the badges situation, but I know that is gonna be solved within the next few months, and all of you that have been writing and expressing themselves on the Auditography channels, can tap themselves on the shoulder. Now, this car has such a presence in real life, and it’s so freaking beautiful, I almost teared up. The quality of the interior is also much better than for example their latest Q6, Q4 etc models. That made me feel good inside. I seriously looked over on my coworker and told him ”Do you know that this is the first time in 5 years I feel like I want to buy a new Audi?’. He looked over to me and said: ”I can’t get over how beautiful this car is”. So, I don’t call myself like what I think, it has to be like that. I just expressed my 2 cents and you do whatever you want with it. Thank you and have a lovely day!

it is really nice indeed. Do you know which AWD is uses? i read on audi page that it does have AWD clutch this S5... other A5 probably Quattro-ultra only, but im not sure what about 3.0tdi - this had quattro with torsen.
also, any chance for manual? i need this so desperately with 2.0tdi, manual and torsen... pleaaaase...

@@michalmusil6611srr but Audi Said manuel isnt available in this gen maybe not now but in last 7years all the Audi customers optioned their cars in Automatic and last 5years the rating of manuel Audi's is so low that they conclueses that all of the buyers will take Automatic so the discontinued manuel to not waste money in my opinion manuel is underrated tho
I have the same feeling watching the video haha. Cant wait for the new RS5 Avant that one must also be a real masterpiece. There are rumours it will even have more then 700hp can u confirm those rumours? Maybe u have more info true your line of work.

Starts at £73k, that's the same price as the current RS4 Avant. Audi, testing out how far they can lower quality and push up prices before losing customers to BMW or Merc.

yes they will there are rumours that the new rs5(former rs4) will be with over 700 hp
As beautiful as it is, there are 2 things I wish they did better. Firstly, I think the MMI could have been designed better. The huge bezels at either side looks like elephant ears and the screen for the passenger seems like an afterthought as its design isn't complimentary to the rest of the dash. Secondly, the climate control should have remained physical. Audi was the last German manufacturer to still offer physical climate controls on most of its models. But that's slowly eroding away. Other than that, it's an absolutely beautiful car. For now, I still prefer the B9 and I have been waiting patiently for this to go on sale so the price of the B9 drops.

The rear 3 quarter view is really a looker, however I don't really like the front end nor the headlights. Loved the original B9 for having such a clean and sharp front end without visible gaps and the barrier tape kind of DRL.
On the inside... well it does look good but seeing reviews from the Q6 already it is a huge step backwards. The shiny plastics and the big infotainment screen will reflect the sun directly in your eyes. Too much shiny black plastics and touch elements. For gods sake Audi, bring back the proper clicking buttons every Audi guy loves.
I agree. I was really hoping for physical HVAC controls and physical buttons on the steering wheel at the very least. I love those in my B9. Sad to see it's all gloss black touch controls. I also REALLY don't like the rear bumper/diffuser area. The way the design has two lumps at either side above the exhausts, along with fake venting... not my favorite.
With that said, if they offer the S5 Avant in the US, I may still consider the upgrade just to be able to drive a modern fast wagon. Currently all we have is the RS6 which is... insanely expensive.
Are there no lights under the door shining a logo or warning when u open them? Or is that only on RS & the new Etron models?

@@underviv64 Next generation is a major change-up for Audi. 4 and 6 line products will be EV. May not even offer avant variants of those, we will have to wait and see how it shakes out.

Audi always builds the most beautiful cars in the world, combining unique and successful design, impeccable manufacturing quality, beautiful technology the best in the business, great sportiness and mythical and very beautiful RS models like RS6, RS7, RSQ8 and the new beautiful SQ6 E-Tron, I love. 💕
I've loved this brand for as long as I can remember 🥰 The only criticism I can level at them is that when they decide to put entry-level models for export, they degrade their product and image. But otherwise, well done Audi, keep making us dream. 👍
As a former A6/RS3 and a current RSQ3 driver, I can tell you that a lot is wrong with Audi as a manufacturer nowadays…

@@underviv64 The RSQ3 in particular seems like a “beta version” car. Squeaking brakes, SIM card disconnects, poor navigation map updates, wrong fuel level displayed (recall), S-tronic sometimes deciding not to change gears at all in auto modes (resulting in a “potential engine overheat” warning), occasionally creaking interior panels on passenger side, a huge electrical issue in the first year that immobilized the car for 3 weeks etc. All sorts of quirks and also some serious problems in the past. Plus, it feels nowhere near as fast as the RS3, despite the same engine and gearbox. I love this car for its unique combo of looks, power and practicality (only 4.5 m long while sporting a 530 l trunk) but I hate it for its numerous flaws and shortcomings.
@@DariusPL it sounds like a bad number with so many problems… maybe bad luck or is it a common occurrence on these?
And I mean it’s not an rs3 it’s probably heavier and it’s an SUV so the aero and balance is completely thrown out the window. It does look good (for an SUV) it’s a shame you had such issues..
I wanted an rs3 as well but I couldn’t find the right spec so I went with an m3 f80 I don’t think it was a bad change but I’m still willing to try out the race version of my daily driver
@@underviv64Well, I think it was a mixture of bad luck and the COVID pandemic which supposedly hit manufacturers hard. Someone at Audi told me it had a really negative impact on supply chains and ultimately car quality.
Please bring it to North America.

Audi always nail it with the lines and proportions. It’s the perfect blend of boxy and curvy, Mercedes or BMW could not replicate this sorry
The back of the Avant looks kinda BMW and the front like a Mercedes. Kinda sad about the development of Audi. The interior looks nice only that everything has to be digtial is not to my liking. You can´t use a Smartphone while driving but this digital development is ok 😵

Lenkrad find ich schön und hatte keine Probleme auf der Probefahrt mit dem Q4.
"Nur" Matrix Licht? Warum nicht HD, Laser oder Digital Light? Wo ist der Vorsprung durch Technik?
Aussen sehr schade keine Rahmenlosen Fensterseitenscheiben, stand für mich immer für Premium. Auch sehr schade das es das beleuchtete Audi Logo nicht auf den A5 geschaft hat.

Are the renderings correct that this will switch over to Quattro Ultra with AWD clutch? There is a lot of conflicting information. If they are in fact taking away the permanent Quattro AWD with Torsen center differential, then that is not acceptable and we need to speak up. A front wheel drive biased system does not belong in a true performance vehicle, especially one at this price point.
There will also be a RS5 Avant Maybe that will have the permanent AWD

Vehicles with the real Quattro system will not be attainable to most buyers if this trend continues. 60k is already pushing it, but I definitely can't afford $85k +. Less than a decade ago you could find the mechanical Quattro system in a $40,000 A4. Those days are now gone.

@@ahen5521 and price, this new A5 Avant is silly money for a less than premium car. M340i Touring is faster, better looking, better interior, better quality and comes with many things that are optional extras with Audi. Oh and ten grand cheaper. Audi are idiots.

Interior of the 5 series went from bad to worse. Hate the tablet style in current models, but this is far worse.

Again, the screen is very ugly, at least like BMW, they should have put a curved, simple and high-quality screen on the car, the screen is spacious and the four sides of this screen are awful, the exterior of the car is beautiful, and again, Audi is lacking from its competitors in the design of the dashboard.
The bezels on that screen made it look dated already, and they don’t have a purpose other than to “look” like the grill framing, which in this car it doesn’t. God I wish VW and Audi still had that walter de silva dna.
Don't like the rounded off nose; all else is spectacular.

the ugliest Audi in history, kitsch and tasteless, you can see there is no idea and cheap screens to stuff even though there is no style, I would never buy such an ugly car in my life, they are based on a Mercedes with rear lights, a Porsche with displays, and seats like those from a BMW, only a lot less visually attractive, ugliness of this model
