- The 2023 Audi RS5 Sportback Competition ($109,050 starting in Canada, $95,895 starting in the US) aims to be so much more than just fast, stylish, and luxurious. In this Competition spec, the Audi RS5 comes equipped with all sorts of goodies to help improve both presence and performance. The package ups the top speed of the car to 290 km/h (180 mph), it adds 3-way adjustable coil overs and stiffer sway bars, and includes a smattering of comfort and stylish add-ons, such as a new exhaust system and alcantara trim bits.
But can this fast and stylish Audi do more than impress with its looks and speed? How does it drive when pushed towards the limit? And have the suspension upgrades helped deal with the RS5’s tendency to understeer? Thomas and James dive into the RS5 Competition to find out what it’s all about. We hope you enjoy the episode! Thanks for watching. SUBSCRIBE!
A huge thank you to @im.Ali.khan for lending us his new RS5!

This is GOT TO BE the most creative car review in history, EVER.
God tier level
Despite the economic downturn, I'm so happy😊. I have been earning $ 60,200 returns from my $7,000 investment every 13days.
This must be an investment with Gergely Korpos
God tier 😂
Absolutely for sure

It amazes me how these intros have just gotten better and better the last 2 or 3 years
I always skip them lol
@@wilbo1316 you’re missing out on some of the best parts of the video

As a therapist, I fully appreciate the fact that James has successfully processed his feelings and emotions towards the RS5 and radically accepted the things he cannot change about her.
Yes
When I was 20 I would care which car goes .5 seconds faster. Now that I am 30 - I gotta say the Audi exterior just looks 10X better. Just my opinion..
I feel that
When James pulled out the lighter i immediately thought “there is no way they did this first take”
The blooper was as hilarious as expected
I didn't get the lighter bit, what is that a reference to?
@@theheadone I think it’s because the car is lighter in weight
@@theheadone gaslighting i guess , it's psychology term
I think ge had the lighter pressed releasing the gas. He wants to blow up the RS5 maybe?
In the end he said "I went to a john Mayer Concert last night puts me in the mood".
So during concerts it's common to sway the lighter from side to side to the music playing. I am really not sure how they meant that reference - maybe they can explain - but shortly before, Dr. Vorsprung was talking about the good sound, so I think that Stanley really likes the sound of the newly tuned exhaust/less sound insulation 🤔
At this point, you guys deserve your own TV Show / Car Channel. This is the most creative and entertaining car review on UA-cam.
They have it right here. More people watch their youtube channel than would see a show on some small cable network, and with yt they have complete creative control
@@pilotdog68 Exactly. Being on TV gives a big short term paycheck, but in the long term it's not really desirable anymore.
I agree. The LFA episode was absolutely amazing
Agreed
TV would ruin it
You guys have set a new bar in how fun a car review should be! To piggy back on your comment about bouncing off the rev-limiter in manual mode, my non-competition 2023 RS5 also got that feature. Should be a real treat at the track next year, the Audi gods have heard our prayers :)
Everything about your channel and content just keep getting better. Absolutely amazing intro on this one guys! Keep up the great work!
This absolutely feels like TopGear in its prime. Entertaining & rivetting at the same time. More power to you guys!
Prime Top Gear can never be compared to anything.
Prime topgear wasn't so much about reviewing cars
Hell no. This is good and they have their own thing which is great. Not even close to top gear
You are absolutely correct! It feels like Top Gear at its prime. it is Original, Takes you in completely, makes you dream/believe, feels organic.
No it does not! Nevertheless, this duo is great
This channel has come a long long way. Thomas and James are very naturally funny and the production is great. Happy to watch these guys succeed.
You actually think that's naturally funny?
I’m not sure how you’re gonna top this one, but I’m sure you’ll find another way of blowing my mind. You guys and Cammisa are hands down the most creative, entertaining, convincing car content creators.
Please don’t break up like the Beetles 🙏
Probably the most creative car review I have ever watched. Keep it up with the great content!
This might be my favorite episode of Throttle House ever. Dream car, outstanding production and ridiculously humorous. Daresay, we got the Throttle House RS Competition when we've only ever known RS.
Nobody makes enjoyable car reviews than these guys 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿 keep the good work guys

I never understood why people would consider it a positive to have less control of your vehicle. No one is buying these cars for the track. The M3 doesn't compare to the RS5 for every day driving or even aggressive street driving. Not to mention how much better the RS5 looks
I LOVE IT when you bring a new way of delivering car review to this world. Keep up the great work, guys! You two deserves a dedicated TV show.
One of their best episodes yet. Their intros are legendary. They need to teach a masterclass on it, honestly.
the a5 from this generation and all its variants (s,rs) are still one of my favorite audi models when it comes to design inside and out, really good looking, no crazy useless design, nice and simple
agreed. Best looking audi currently
I own a Audi a5 b9 coupe for about 3 years and it still looks sleek and absolute headturner compared most new cars.
Rs3 > a and s. Rs5 slightly above.
@@Dilly_Dil1ythe hatchback or saloon?
RS5, M3, Giulia…that’s one amazing list of cars.
I’m so happy to have Audi learning how to use their back wheels to drive with. It’s like watching your kid walk for the first time. ❤
Great job Mrs/Mr. anonymous, Karston, and Harrison. However, todays MVP has to go to the dynamic duo, the RS5’s rear wheels; well done!
I gotta say, you guys are too good! This episode was hands down your best yet. Good luck trying to top that one. 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
I love how you guys make everything so much fun thanks for the amazing content
I appreciate it man.
Throttle House has the best intro in entire episode of car review already 😂👍
Never disappointed with the intros. I love how the therapy session theme went into the entire video as a whole. Nailed it.
The S5 and RS5 looks would be the reason I would choose it over the BMW. If I am going to be driving a car everyday, it can’t just be because it drives better at the absolute limit or the place basically no one drives.
James, I just wanna say that I loved your and Jason's appearances in Car Trek 9. I hope you'll show up again in the next series.
Bro what is this?mcu?where anyone can outta no where can appear lmao
I appreciated the whole one word they let him say as the other tubers were directed to lead their involvement
@@air-headedaviator1805and Cammisa didn’t say much at all either. Which is a bit out of character for him.
You guys are fantastic. Way to push yourselves with these reviews, you're getting so much better in so many different ways!
I owned an RS 5 2016 and after owning American muscle cars most of my life. The Audi was like going from partying every weekend and being drunk and hungover going to work the next week to wearing a suit and tie to work and having a wife and two kids. I sold my Mustang right before I bought my Audi the level of that car dose everything you need it to do with minimum effort and worry is amazing. I haven't driven this year's Audi RS 5 or this version of it but if they have improved on the car I had it has to be an amazing car.
This guy gets it. Once you get used to euro cars most other vehicles feel cheap.
With every new video these guys make
The more they shows how much underrated they're
The shot you guys got @15:41 is beautiful. The contrast is perfect with the yellow line down the black road, golden leaves, blue skies, chrome, and the black RS!
Great job guys, I haven’t followed any UA-cam channels ever and look forward to every single one that your team puts together. Would love to see your take on the generational evolution of BMW M-cars by maybe bringing in an e36, e46, e90 m3 and the latest m3/m4. Could be a fun look back at history and what they’ve either kept or drastically changed over the decades.
RS5 in nardo grey and black optics looks straight out of a movie/video game up close. It's one of the best looking cars period. If its closer to M3 performance excellent job.
Exact spec i just ordered, someone had an allocation at a dealer for a rs5 that they cancelled, while i was checking a s5, and i instantly took it in the nardo gray black optics spec
@@harkeeratsingh3808 Congratulations. RS5 is a great car. Looks amazing and hella fast.
I'd get red with black wheels carbon ceramic fronts with 175 top speed increase and black with red stitch interior with carbon fiber dash. 🥰
Best car videos to watch by far. Keep up the great work guys. I still prefer the M3 but depends on what you want the car for and if you want the fun and fear factor or not. Like both brands, I prefer the older M3 and RS designs than the new ones.
You guys just keep getting better and better and better. One of the all time greats this one. Not just from you, but in car review UA-cam overall.
This was epic amazing job you two. ❤ the ending again was my favorite. 😂
If you guys did the weave back and forth in one lane like you did at the end, in every video to show the suspension travel on the road as one of the tests, it would get almost as much attention as the hp.
You guys are killing it, thank you for doing the Car Gods work.
You guys definitely make the best car reviews! Your intros always kick ass! 😄Keep up with the great work. 💪🏼
I was disappointed that they didn't add any horsepower/torque to the RS5 (they are doing it to the RS6/7) but if they made the driving more exciting, I guess it's a win. Still seems like a steep price increase for the upgrades. I bought a 2016 B8.5 and do still like it but creeping up on 160,000 miles and I am thinking about getting a new Audi (would love an RS7, too much money for me) and these changes may be enough for me to justify the 95,000$ pill to swallow. Great review as always guys - you are my favorite car channel! Cheers and look forward to the next video!
honestly, it’s not worth it. I had a 2021 RS5, and it was really boring. sold it for a hefty profit, and got a 2023 S3 for less than half the price. way more enjoyable to drive. i’m assuming you’re in the US. get yourself an 8Y RS3!! I’m in Canada, and they aren’t available here.
@@stealthhtm23 I love the RS3, would get the hatch is they sold it here or the RS4 for that matter, but the RS3 is a bit too small. I drive a lot and like the cabin room in the 5's, I tried an S3 and it was to narrow for my tastes. Appreciate the suggestions though, peace!
@@cmsweitzer1 it’s definitely on the small side. but that’s what makes it so quick and nimble! the RS5’s interior room & quality is clearly better than the S3, but not more than double the price imo. why not get the B8.5 RS5 then?! that glorious V8 sound 🤤. I had a B8 S5 manual V8 muffler delete. favorite car I’ve ever owned.
It's absolutely not worth it
As an 2022 rs5 owner, I'd say it's worth if you aren't buying it to race. In the wild I've only met one c63 that wanted to play around, that's it. If you're like me and love the looks and audi feel, and prefer that over the performance benefits from bmw or mercedes, I'd say it's worth it. The rs5 is more livable than the m3, especially in the sportback form. Enjoy whatever you please to! I will say, since this model is on 5 years now, there might be some weight on getting the next generation. I might do a switch myself if they improve the car enough.
I love this review, so creative but somehow no nonsense at the same time. You guys are on fire.
You just made me realize that Top Gear often sacrificed objectivity and informational value for entertainment. It's official TH is better.
This is such a great review, thanks for your hard work on this guys, hope you guys had fun making this video!
Driving an RS5 non competition as a rental for the week and love it so far. Classy and understated but still very fast in dynamic. Never felt like it needed more power.
Committing to a bit for the entire episode. You guys are really stepping up your writing game!
Yall should absolutely make those 3 books a thing
One of my favorite videos from you guys, pure entertainment thank you!
I really appreciate you guys getting race boxes. And actually showing the real data! So few people do this
I was dying when Stanley and the RS5 rekindled. 😂 You guys and these intros and the quality and creativity is unrivaled. Hands down best car guys out there. Thanks for another solid video! Now give us one on the M3 please. 😊
This has got to be the best car review I've ever seen in my life! I was more vested in their relationship than I am with most romcom series! 😂
By 56 seconds I liked the video and by 3 minutes 41 seconds I knew this is by far the best video y'all have put out in awhile. Very comical, love it, keep these entertaining videos coming.
45 seconds in: Best Intro Yet! How do you guys keep coming up with this stuff? Love it!
Hands down my favorite channel on UA-cam. Continued creativity which is also hilarious AND informative. Hope I can meet you guys in person sometime. Cheers!
Great review. Still like the older RS5s with the V8. Sounded amazing. Kinda weird they didn’t increase the HP, but I’d imagine a quick ECU tune would fix that.
And that’s the problem, this costs significantly more than the normal rs5, and still has the same hp……I honestly don’t like Audi, rather get a bmw or Mercedes
@@bibobrabernard1091 but the M3/M4 are fucking hideous and Mercedes has a 4 cyl
@@JTM610 so buy the Merc then, not like this RS5 sounds any good to begin with. Especially in Europe where OPF means all you hear are the obnoxious farts.
@@bibobrabernard1091 The fact that you ended your statement with "I honestly don't like Audi", contradicts your objective view on the price. Here's my understanding. You are paying for a fun factor that Audi never had before, which is a good thing if you're an 'Audi person'. I think that suspension is worth it, (not like you're gonna get that, pretty much racecar level stuff, for a low price anywhere else) lighter wheels, more fun diff, tuned gearbox, more sound, all of which would come at a price anyway anywhere. All you have to do is give it more power, which most people already do to their 'Non-Competition' Audis, but you just get more fun. Look at it as a normal-ish 911 going sorta GT3. On the track, or twisties, it'll be a whole different car dynamically, with the looks that would make BMW wish they kept the 340i grill on the M3, (which they should've) but also the interior, subtlety, and sleeper looks found in the normal RS5...
It's worth it honestly, because it brings excitement back to RS. BMW is still head of performance, Merc of Luxury, but NOW we can say that this Audi is both Performance and Luxury. AUDI IS CAR. 😅😂😂😂
@@xIcarus227 inside noise has still got the V6 character and it's loud enough. If you want to get a 4 cyl shitbox with a couple of sticked-on screens and piano black for 100k that's on you XD

"Welcome to Carpules therapy." Love the deadpan delivery!!
Thanks for another excellent video guys, loved the therapy play. The thing with Audi is that it is not trying to be a BMW M or Mercedes AMG, it has an appeal all of its own. The customer should have the choice of carbon ceramics yes and they can leave the suspension adjustment. Looking forward to the next video.

This is one of my favorite video reviews you have made, because of the style and way the story is told
Great episode - reinforced my decision to order the RS5 Competition, and now I can start to enjoy it after it was delivered last weekend.
Great review. We definitely need a track battle between this and the m3 comp now. I am typically an m fan but this car looks so much better the the new m3 imo
In this RS5 Audi seem to have embraced curves, and in the new M2 BMW seem to have embraced Lego. Or that should be Duplo.
If you compare it to the x drive, I don’t think the RS5 comes close. The M3 just has a better performance

Wow, I've just noticed that throttle house has now 2.3 million subscriber.... I remember they were way behind the likes of the straight pipes. Well deserved, Great content 👌🏻
The rev limiter hits sounded super sweet. The natural aspirated rs5 with an exhaust was one of the best exhaust notes in that class sounds so good but they were a bit underwhelming speed wise
Oh my!!!! what a great video guys!!! ypu are just evolving incredible good!!! great script!!! different from the other ones!! you guys are just the best!!!

The seats are really nice. I really like the look. So subtle
That Audi, totally trounces that BMW in the looks department. The manual suspension adjustment though, ridiculous! Also laughed intensely at the intimate reuniting of excitement in the relationship.
Agree on the "trounces the BMW in the looks department", but then the Alfa Quadrifoglio trounces the Audi as well.

I started watching this video almost 10 mins now and I’m still at the intro. Great job guys.
Loved it. Great conclusion. I had a G80 on order but now have my RS5, like you say it’s subjective, the M3 is a much better car at what it was built for: to go fast, but the RS5 is much better at being a car, using daily and also going fast. Love the G80, it’s the true king of the fast sedans, but it’s no compromise approach isn’t what I wanted and it’s why the RS Audis exist, to fit that gap between the rest, not to be the same.
This rs5 is actually a better track car than a g80. The coilovers they used is essentially KW Clubsport. These coilovers alone are worth over 6000 USD, not to mention the new transmission and rear diff tuning.
@@IR-xy3ij Are you seriously about rs5 is a better track car ? Hello from september 2023, two weeks ago g82 has set a new Nurburgring lap record!!!
It really feels like this car should just be the main RS5
this is such a great video. this might be the greatest car review I've ever seen. It's up there
Intro was mega. Great production as always!
I actually love the RS line of cars. If I were to pick this or an AMG or BMW M class car, I'd pick the Audi for the everyday driving but would like to have a better tune 🙃
Awesome review guys. Couple pieces of clarification. The non competition RS5 can definitely go sideways without the new Diff. Trust me I have one and I hoon it around a bit lol. The car is closer to being 7 years old now actually, not 5. It was announced back in 2016 within the Eu market. Then lastly you could always bang off the rev limiter. It is not unique to the Competition spec. Again awesome review.
I have a 2021 RS5 SB and I was going to post the exact same thing. I also want to mention that the 0-60 they got on the Racebox is off. I routinely get 3.3-3.6 0-60 in mine on a flat surface. The Carwow guys got 3.7 in the rain! So, not sure what was going on here. Maybe cold tires or a slight incline?
@@cd7742 Cold tires, DA, Lack of traction control. Not sure. The cars quick and its been proven before. Oh well, things happen.
@@cd7742 I have the rs5 sportback comp in this video (not same car exactly but same spec). As it is a new car, the ECU limits performance for the first 1000-1200kms. This car was on sale in ontario which has just shy of 1000. I would suggest that they were not getting full performance from the engine as tested. It is a wonderful machine and love the one i have.
This is by far your best review ever. Love ya guys.
Another FANTASTIC car review, and for me it’s more about the presentation in this video then the actual car..How can that be???..GREAT JOB GUYS.. keep up the amazing work.

Great review! Absolute top class.
I don't get why Audi doesn't increase the horsepower, it's not like they technologically can''t so it really baffles me...
Joe achilles managed 3.3 0-60 in the RS4 wagon. Also they introduced bucket seats but i assume its not an option in Canada.
Love the theme of the episode. Keep putting out the great vids
Brilliant skit great delivery! You both are fantastic at this!
Beautiful car, a shame the power output hasn’t been upgraded, even an extra 30hp would’ve made it more of a ‘competition’ to the M3
Why does Audi steel the name competition it’s belongs to bmw🤣
Stage 1 tune for 600$ would probably get you another 80hp
@@Chocobohunter I mean... The m3 is already cheaper... And a stage 1 tune adds like 160hp...
Audi should have added more power, no question.
@@omnihein9322 all about reliability, audi doesnt really push their cars to the limit while bmw does out the door
@@Chocobohunter ? The M3's internals can literally handle double the rated horsepower for extended periods of time, and not just for regular road use for Formula drift...
Power has nothing to do with reliability, how it's built does.
(also, BMW has been more reliable than Audi for quite a while now)
Love my SQ5 though, excellent daily.
