Killmonger brought receipts...
HE BROUGHT RECEIPTS
I like how T'Challa told him about himself at the end.
That was hard.
RIP chadwick boseman
In the end Killmonger ultimately took Rhodes’ advice “Be apart of the system to change it” he literally planted himself inside Wakanda to accomplish his goal
I’m glad you spoke about how the movie didn’t really showcase Killmonger‘s intelligence. To be quite honest T’Challa got shafted too.
They both got super shafted
because of the agenda, they gave all the intelligence to Shiuri
@@Nytellem Big facts
@@Nytellem Dude... Just stop.
Suri didn't tell her parents in fear of word leaking out and Killmonger killing her or her parents...I think it was smart not too and now Killmonger has no idea that Shuri is in the shadows setting up his downfall the same way he did to Tony...Just like how you liked how capable Killmonger was in this universe I believe Shuri is going to show how capable she is by working against him with him having no clue.
fr
She still could of told them like in a safe location or broadcasted it all over wakanda and also why didn’t Jarvis send the video to anybody right away?
That's Tony's call.
@@Deloneys yea but he’s dead so Jarvis should have at least told pepper or happy
@@israelhernandez5431 Maybe Jarvis didn't became as hero oriented because Tony didn't, so she was less proactive to think that and maybe also less attached to Tony?
I'm really glad we got to see Killmonger playing 3D chess.
Same
3D chess is just… chess.
@@crickitobs shhh don’t tell him, he thinks he did something
if this is chess, then its one of the more boring ones I've seen
*4D chess
SHURI didn't take the info straight to her parents to me..... is because she seen how dangerous this cat was (pun intended) without the suit but now that he does has it SHURI knew he would have killed mama and BABA
Precisely! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💯
Killmonger is always a fan favorite. His scheming is top tier, loved how they portrayed him this episode.
That I did like about this Kilmonger, he is just as smart as T'Challa
@@ampocalypsew3883 Just how smart is T'Challa? He doesn't seem to use his intelligence for anything in particular. Shuri, Stark, Banner, and Pim all create things with their intelligence, but T'Challa seems to just focus on training whilst wearing the nigh invulnerable suit.
My apologies, I haven't seen the 'What If..?' episode as I don't have Disney+.
@@Naptosis in the comics T'Challa is extremely smart, he made his own science and reengineered a lot of tools that's cosmic level. Granted the MCU doesn't follow this up and gave most to of his intelligence to his sister
@@Naptosis The only thing I remember being mentioned is his designing of his first suit we see, which looks to be the same type as his father's suit, so maybe T'Challa also designed it at a very young age.
Killmonger was playing four-dimensional chess while everyone else was playing Hungry, Hungry Hippos. 😯🧐
Extreme genius level strategist
I thought hungry hungry hippos required more intelligence than 4D chess
@@deathgorilla782 LOL. Maybe more hand-to-eye coordination for that game. 😂💀
Wow, even in the episode that was marketed as Tony Stark being saved, he still gets screwed over.
Same thing happened in the comic "What If the Punisher's Family Hadn't Been Killed?". Spoilers - His family still die. Frank just can't catch a break.
@@alexgsproductions it’s inevitable no matter what it seems like. Tony has to die, and Frank’s family has to be killed in order for him to become a psychotic killing machine...
i guess that happens when you refuse to come back to do your own voice acting LOL
Killmonger was legit, and if they want to bring him back, they can use this Killmonger of episode 6....What If is armazing
The question I have about the zombies episode is when did Thanos become a zombie? Did he see the benefits of being zombified and willingly let himself be turned or did he some how get overwhelmed while having 5 of the 6 infinity stones? It doesn't make since that if he arrived on earth with 5 stones that any zombie on earth could catch him and turn him. He could just use the stones he had to cut through the zombies pretty easily.
Well a single small cut itself can turn a person Zombie...look what happened to Hope..she had the tiniest cut...and nobody cud save her from turning into one...maybe Thanos did fight off many Zombies when he arrived on earth...but I also think the zombies attacked him as a horde so big...also Zombie r the undead it's not like u can kill a zombie easily unless u severe its head or something...my 2 cents is that one of the zombies got Thanos from behind while all this bruhaha happened and was able to injure him ...thus the Zombie Virus went inside him unknowingly...and thus he turned into one.
@@Azarath_Metrion_Zinthos Iron Man alone at least made Thanos bleed a single drop of blood.
Exactly but even more so…isn’t he an eternal-deviant???!!! Shouldn’t he be immune???!!!
He was bit by the Black order when they returned after dying
@@CalobAdamsInfamous913 No
Feels like Shuri is gearing up to be this universe's Iron Heart, and that's why she went to Pepper.
@DC OneFourSeven, agreed
I don't see that happening. Maybe that universes Black Panther after killmonger is found out.
That's an interesting take. I saw her as more a Nick Fury figure (with Potts being the first recruit)
It could be, I mean it would have a Wakandan Flair and style but I think her and pepper would be able to use her brain and Stark Industries to create a Vibranium Iron Man suit whoa buddy
My impression was sheri just found the info at the moment when she hacked into starks database (killmonger already took purple herb) and pots happen to walk in
On the point about playing down Killmonger’s intelligence, I think they lowered T’challa’s intelligence too
Yeah Killmonger wearing the Vegeta suit looked epic
“What If Killmonger was a liar?” Kind of bummed me out tbh. In the movie he had integrity in his viewpoint which audiences found relatable and sympathetic. In this he just lies and backstabs his way to the top
He lied in the movie too. He lied to claw and the wakandans. The character is a pos extremist in both iterations.
Killmonger was incredibly compelling in this episode, but I couldn't help but laugh the couple times he yelled 'Wakanda Foreverrrrr!'
T'Challa, Boseman, in the ancestors world. Is too on the nose.
And they had no idea what he was dealing with, fair play. Rest well, King.
Killmonger is essentially a radical, black panther. I dig it, it's a brilliant villains view.
I was watching this episode in awe of how elaborate Killmonger's plan was and how hard it would have been to pull off. Mans was so ahead of everything and patient and confident it would work out. It wasn't my favorite episode but definitely my favorite What If character so far.
I loved this episode, killmonger killed it and ta’challas last words in the after life hit hard great episode can’t wait for more
Shuri is doing exactly what Killmonger did. That's why it was so brilliant. She's showing she's smarter than him but she's just as cunning. Also what's interesting is through the series Uatu has slowly become more opaque. It's very obvious by this episode that he's not blending into the background anymore. He's going to interfere in the finale.
Which I think is where the timeline goes off the rails. I think the finale of Loki, wandavision and what if are all at the same time
@BatRoulette buddy what are you talking about? Uatu has an awful track record of "not interfering"
I don't think that is Uatu
@BatRoulette Uatu, The Watcher, is responsible for keeping the Marvel Zombies in a time loop to protect the rest of the multiverse. Considering he has multiple counterparts, I was wondering if the Watcher we'd been seeing in each episode is specific to the universe we're watching.
Killmonger was always a favorite of mine and even more so when Michael B Jordan brought him to life. This episode was amazing. Showcasing Killmonger’s intelligence and strategic thinking. Mans was playing 4D chess with two powerful nations. And I love T’Challa but I literally was so hyped when Killmonger got to be the Black Panther. I’m ready for the interdimensional team up against Loki
To be fair, T'Challa's intelligence was downplayed in the MCU as well.
This was the best episode out of all.. so much changed
Such a great breakdown as always Rob. So glad I found your channels.
Yea my only real complaint about the show is how many liberties they need to take to fit a whole story into each episode. There's a lot of things that don't really make sense but I understand why that is and in the end I'm enjoying it.
He did great. But your telling me Tony Stark after all that and how killmonger got Stane he didn’t have the information released everywhere . Like how did he hack Jarvis like he’s smart but nowhere near that smart. Unless with his new job he got more privileges or something. And how did they not notice him going to wakanda. And why would they just send in those drones that’s so dumb and if they did why the heck would they not have guns or any form of long rang weapons.
Surprised this episode didn’t get more love. Easily my favorite episode so far!!!
As a old school reader of the comic What if throughout its various inceptions the one constant is Tony stark always dies I can think of at least 12 times off hand where he either sacrifices himself or is out right killed . This is such a incredible spin on the comic using only the MCU characters I just wish the season was longer.
Little off topic, but when he said he liked anime, I realized his armour is similar to Vegeta's from DBZ XD
When Tony mentioned that it was not really what he was going for
Lol Feige is gonna be like, "how does this dude know our entire layout?!"
I went from here straight to his episode 1 review to make sure I wasn’t going crazy for remembering him say he “loved” it and how “it gave him exactly what he was looking for”…I’m not crazy turns out, what gives Rob?
Killmongers outfit (blue suit white breastplate) was already clearly inspired by Vegeta from DBZ out of universe, but this episode implies with Killmonger being an anime fan, that it might be IN-Universe too. I think thats neat.
Another plot hole is where is Nick Fury? The Avenger Initiative had Tony Stark as a focus. I don't see Kilmonger fooling Fury...Rhodes? Yes! But not Fury! Fury would be paying attention to what is happening with Tony Stark.
I wouldnt say its a plot hole
But he only hit Nick's radar after he built the 1st suit right
@@tjofwakanda8027 Ok so what would you call it? Because based on Iron Man 2, the end credits scene of Iron Man 1 and Captain Marvel they make it seem like Nick Fury had this whole thing in the works for years. Tony mentions the connection between he and Killmonger is their fathers. Fury knew Howard and ultimately winds up leading Tony to his Paladium poisoning cure. He gives Tony all this footage of his father 🤷🏿♂️Sounds like a plot hole to me. Not for Killmonger but for Tony. If Fury had approached Killmonger at some point and got turned down or redirected elsewhere it would've made more sense to me.
@@kingafro3453 Think about what we know from all of the films 🎥 Nick Fury knew that Tony was going to hit on something big. They completely cut out all the Avengers and Fury. There's no way Fury is absent during Killmonger's plan. Thunderbolt Ross is front and center but no Nick Fury? 🤷🏿♂️
Take away Nick Fury? I see all of this possible...but not with Fury around unless he's addressed and neutralized by Killmonger
My theory for the last 3 years (having seen Captain Marvel and Thor 3) has been that they're building towards Secret Wars since we finally have Fantastic 4, but Avengers Forever would be great too.
They are definitely building towards secret wars
I hope
Hypothesis*
The fact that they have announced a season two to be released somewhere down the line is great to me, because you just know they're going with the characters they've introduced so far in the present Phases. Meaning they will go with all the new stuff like.... Adam Warlock and Gorr and whatnot for season 2, so i'm quite hyped for all of it. It's a good series.
the most important line is what killmonger says to tony "the difference between you and me is that you don't see the difference between you and me"
showing that although it might be nieve, tony was a good person and a humanitarian, he did not see color nor the plight that came with it. that was a deep and dope philosophical dialogue that rodey and then t'challa was trying to enlighten him on
the greater implications of an armed and opressive African militia onto the western world is what makes this episode the best for me.
there was an old book called ' fear of a black planet' that went into this same paranoia scenario... it would be fascinating to see how disney would handle it
this is so much more grounded and real worldly, than zombies or a big purple alien snapping away half of all life with a magic gauntlet
What also pissed me off is; I’m not fully familiar with Black Panther relationship with Bast and the other BP ancestors. I thought Erik wouldn’t receive the blessing and powers of Bast (Black Panther) because Erik had to revisit the ancestral plane and would eventually see Ta’Challa
Anybody complaining about this series never read the old comics from the 80’s and 90’s because they were just like this.
correct
yeah man most people dont read 40-30 year old comics. To be really honest most people dont read modern ones either.
This is the first episode I honestly haven't cared for too much. Makes me like Killmonger even less.
"Unlike the first episode of What If." Thank you! One of these UA-camrs finally said it.
There’s a lot of wakanda in this series.
Some culture at Marvel.
6:05 - Meat and Potatoes! (sorry, just love hearing Rob say his catchphrases)
This episode got me thinking that the element Tony rediscovered in the main MCU (iron man 2) was Adamantium and that’s how the gauntlet was able to harness to power of the stones.
It also got me thinking Peter’s web fluid is a homemade blend of adamantium with trace elements of vibranium and that’s why Tony found the textile strength intriguing.
If he said it sarcastically then I assume he’s seen the research before probably in iron man 2 when fury gave him shield files 🤷♂️
Expectation is the theif of joy! We gotta stop expecting so much from studios that literally owe us nothing! I felt the movie showed off his intelligence very well. And if we've learned one thing from movie adaptations of comics is that movies will never be 100% comic accurate
You truly understand the comics story and the characters!
I loved Killmonger's plan here but I hated that plot hole where he one-handed that missile, saving Tony Stark. They made it seem like he had superhuman strength already
And how and why was he there in first place? Did he help orchestrate the attack with the 10 rings? Who knows
@@decimalexercise7154 that actually would have been way more interesting than simply him "finding out" that Obadiah was still ultimately behind that attack smh
The way they combined Iron Man & Black Panther to me was beautiful... This also was the most probable realistic What If story based on each characters in the MCU compared to the past 5 episodes (Captain Carter Being 2nd most likely)
This was actually one of the best episodes. The Marvel Zombies was probably one of the best . Starlord Episode is still the best.
This episode really proved how irredeemable killmonger is.
But how badass he is. I friggin love his character
why is he irredeemable?
@@Masterpain33 he's my favorite character in black panther, the need to find a way to bring him back
@@ALFAMALEGENERAL because he's always after the Wakandan throne through devious means
the king of Wakanda killed his father, and essentially exiled him for existing under devious means. killmonger in the MCU is the victim seeking righteous vindication.
where is youre moral compass?
I mean I feel you on the whole Shuri not telling her parents thing but I mean she is one of the smartest people on the planet right? She probably figured he'd figure out a way to get out of it, or shift blame, or say something like "you've always had something against me from the beginning", etc. He had an answer for everything so she probably just thought it was the safest bet. What's pepper supposed to do to help? I have no clue 🤣
Pepper runs Stark Industries. There's plenty she can do.
@@vicshephard9231 that is true, but remember Thunderbolt Ross seized all of stark industries assets in the episode, also Wakanda has much more advanced technology. I'm not saying there isn't anything she can do, I'm sure there are multiple ways she can help, I'm just not sure in what way specifically she would do.
I guess I am a lil hazy on why you think they need to connect these to the MCU. I mean in the What If series of comics they have open-ended & contained stories. And rarely did they go back to finish off previous stories... I don't think there really is a compelling reason to connect them. I mean, I dunno.
Right!..I’ve been Sayin This
These stories are not meant to change anything in the MCU
just like the What If’s didn’t change anything in the comics
Just one off anthology series is all it ever was meant to be
So I reckon, he doesn't see trailers? Else he would knew all of this will have some sort of continuation in the next chapters
I think youre right, and it will be more introducing the characters from these universes than the universes themselves. Pretty sure we will see captain carter, heartless strange, and some others in the multiverse of madness movie.
I remember reading somewhere that Michael B. Jordan wanted to come back and play killmonger in the future
Shuri was extra young, you have been talking about Avengers Forever so much that I'm reading it again. Yes I dug through hundreds of books for an hr to find it. I hope you're right.
@Geek Culture Explained Michael B Jordan voices the lead character on an anime series called Gen: Lock on HBO. The drones you saw were a nod and miniature versions of the ones the pilots of the series control telepathically through Gen: Lock. Michael is absolutely an anime fan and seeing them Easter egg that is really cool.
Lol @ the shade to episode 1. 🤣🤣🤣
You make a great point regarding his smarts. I'm not reading the comics buy that was great insight. He was brilliant in this episode.
I completely agree, I hope Killmonger comes back
The truth is that Chakala's father was a bit blinded by the loss of his son. In this universe the characters are of balance. Which changes everything. Certain actions are delayed, start earlier, or do not occur at all. It is cool and this show is based off of different Timelines from the movies as its base
About time lol been waiting on you bro lol
If the events of Iron Man 1 happened years ago, wouldn't Killmonger be much younger?
Shuri looks a lot younger, i'd guess hes old enough that you cant notice
I see Killmonger being a Sinestro or a Black Adam type of ruler.
Or Doom
this episode was good
"The year is After Colony 195...Eric Killmonger has created an army of Mobile Dolls....."
Next episode is Cha Cha getting his Clone Army 😧
Exactly making him a top-tier villain!!!
The UA-cam thumbnail: this changes EVERYTHING
The shows actual premise: this changes EVERYTHING!
Me: can't tell if this is click bait.....
One thing that we all can definitely see if that all the episodes have set up some some good jump off points for the MCU to build off off, all ended on cliffhangers of sorts, particularly the last three episodes…
I think they will revisit some of the What ifs that they left open. There's the scene where T'Challa/Star Lord is in New York with Peggy Carter. There's another with Shuri and Pepper running while holding guns.
Thanks Rob, I was waiting for this too lol
I always thought the point of What If was
1) Showing choices in the background that when pushed to the forefront change the story but maintain the timeline of events.
2) Events still have to happen in the timeline but due to choices shuffling up the order, they either already happened in the background or will happen in the future differently in the MCU.
3) These choices create a fixed point/Nexus event that can't be reversed or the entire timeline falls apart. These create Variant timelines we see in Loki.
In example: Stain hires Killmonger as a back up plan to kill Tony in Afghanistan in case the 10 rings botch the job.
Given that Killmonger wasn't that far away when Tony was captured, it means Killmonger was there originally working with Stain in the background facilitating Tony's capture, we just didn't see him in Iron Man.
Amazing series . I agree with you about some episodes may appear in Dr. Strange 2. Killmonger is the best villain in the MCU until Dr. Doom and Galactus show up.
while the dr.strange 2 theory is interesting, I think the payoff is that we get a “Guardians of the Multiverse” episode in season 1 and/or season 2
Kind of wish the Black Panther’s on the tree would punish Killmonger somehow or were affected by his betrayal more
saw it as Shuri had to go to Tony's office to get more info and had just found the footage. and they have to play it right cause de gobs on both sides may b too far in to stand down at this point
Has anyone noticed that killmongers outfit looks like the original Saiyan Warrior Uniform with the shoulder pads... He's even got a Vegeta vibe to him.... Omg I think Michael B's Killmonger is modeled after Vegeta, I can't un-see I.
It is👌🏿, Michael b jordan favorite anime is dragon ball z so he had his outfit inspired by vegeta.
I think it's obvious that they are retreading the MCU phase 1 - a series of apparently unconnected stories that converge into a giant episode in which all the heroes team up to take out a threat too big for any of them individually.
In the flim killmonger became the king with t challa alive and the struggle was there but with him gone killmonger would kill the parents and innocent wakandains no doubt so shuri telling pepper makes sense
I see the what if stores as independent to the rest of the marvel universe because the point of the what if saga was created so that the writers could take the characters in any direction that they wanted to with out worrying about tying these stories to the rest of them.
This was the best one to me. The Dr Strange what if was okay but this episode was everything.
Hits me in the feels
Killmonger's plan was super clever, but I feel like it would totally fall apart at the end. The problem is that the Wakandans would quickly learn that Killmonger was working with the US government and Stark. And that would be hard to explain. But admittedly I didn't quite register the hole you pointed out, that Shuri should have put her evidence in front of the king.
Also, notice how short Shuri was in this episode? Does that mean that Marvel has already recast her role? She was voiced by Ozioma Akagha here instead of Letitia Wright. I've heard that Letitia is slated to be in the next BP movie, but she stirred up a bit of controversy a few months ago with some antivaxx talk.
Nah that’s just an in character age thing. Since this all technically goes down during the general timeframe of iron man 1 she’s still a kid
That first episode of What it was still pretty good imo
This and the first episode were my favorite
Fun Fact: Michael B. Jordan has made it known that he's a big fan of Anime, so having that in the episode was a nice little Easter Egg for those who knew about that.
That would make sense, there's a lot of material to work with for a crossover into Dr Strange. Exciting times!
Hey Rob, longtime fan, just a petty gripe... I don't get the need to rank the episodes as you discuss them, I feel like every episode is great in it's own way.
Can't wait to see where all this what if stuff goes though
I want to know if or how Tony Stark Becomes Iron Man in the follow up from Ep 1.
There is now an extra 60 odd years that the suit could have been developed for along with there not being a winter soldier to kill his parents. Plus it is powered by an infinity stone...
Everything you said was on point. I would love to see cameo type scenes that tie into the What If series in Dr. Strange 2. I think that would be an awesome way to expand on certain episodes more in depth. The episodes seem too short.
the mid season trailer is dope!!
Michael B Jordan is a bit of a weeb too. I think that's what Kilmonger liking anime scene was based on. Supposedly Kilmonger's armor is based on Vegeta's Saiyan armor from DBZ because of Jordan.
I said the same thing can we not kill Tony anymore dang!!! I’m hoping this is foreshadowing Killmonger becoming Black Panther and being apart of the New Avengers.I loved Killmonger’s strategy. I’m like you got all the answers man!
I just assumed that Shuri went to Pepper rather than her father for 2 reasons. 1) Killmonger killed the king and queen after he became the black panther and so Shuri ran away from Wakanda to find help. 2) that T'Chaka is so into Eric because he's a grieving father who just found out that his brother had a child, one who is as smart and as sociable as his own son who he just lost and becomes attached to Eric to the point that if Shuri were to show him evidence he'd probably scoff and think it's just a grieving sister trying to make her older cousin look bad so that her dad won't replace T'Challa with Eric. Either of these two could fill in the plot hole with the first one most likely being the case
So... För Killmonger to be able to throw that missile in Afghanistan like that, either it was really light-weight, or Killmonger had super strength somehow...
How did the king not realize something was off about Killmongers story. Didn't the king kill his father? Or Killmonger's father die in a different way in this timeline?
"Unlike episode 1"...?!?! Captain Carter was my fave episode.
Fun fact, Michael B. Jordan's killmonger suit was inspired by Vegeta's saiyan battle armor from Dragon Ball Z
I will remain convinced that the tentacle monster from episodes 1 and 4 is Shumah-Gorath until proven otherwise.
Shuri wanted to make sure that killmonger didn't know anyone else knew. It's easier to take him out while in the shadows. Then out in the open.
