Thankyou for nice video. Some years ago, l was quoted a price of £500, to install a new wheel, housing a electric motor, by my Brompton dealer. So l shall be exploring the choices in the future, as your video, uses the existing wheel. ( l'm elderly, cycle 18 miles, using 3 gears, often walk up steep hills.) love my bike, l travel on bus, rail and bus, to reach a destination, then after 18 mile ride, use public transport to my home. So it often gets folded and unfolded, up to 6 times, as rail stations, are never near bus terminals. Safe journeys to yourself and everyone who rides a bike.
Is it possible to integrate this battery into a bag which could be slotted onto the mount ( like the Brompton electric )If you could do this many people would buy it . It's still very useful but not being able to use the front mount for a bag is a big disadvantage.
The front wheel hub-motor of the conversion kit for "DIY electric folding Brompton" was designed based on the front fork of a conventional bicycle. It is of the view that the material of the front fork would not be a concern.
Thats great. Where can I get the battery mount and battery? plus the BSM? Do you have a link to a shop or at least a name? I can't find it anywhere, even on aliexpress..Thanks!
The conversion kit for "DIY Electric Folding Brompton" is the product of the PortaPower (China) Limited; and the kit includes: (a) front wheel hub-motor, (b) speed / torque sensor, (c) battery mount, (d) controller, and (e) battery pack. Please be advised that the conversion kit has yet to be put into mass production. I would be pleased to let you know once the product is introduced into market.
Thanks for letting me know. I am very interested in buying the whole conversion kit for my Brompton. If it hits the market, please let me know. Much appreciated. I personally don't like the current electric Bromptons they sale officially. They look a bit messy with that bag. I like the hard battery case. So if this conversion kit hits the market, i will definately be buying one. Thanks
Would appreciate if you can advise as to where this can be purchased. I cannot find any leads. Well produced video, just wish I could get one. Thanks.@@pcktung8657

cool cool, I like it. Although I prefer manual pedaling. I can definitely see some people wanting to do this to their bromptons, those who have much farther commutes, or live in hilly areas and already own this bike. Adds weight so, theres that. But all in all gj
I didn't buy the new electric Brompton as it was twice the price, but I can see the appeal in converting it for less; I am considering buying a conversion kit after I pay the bike off next year! :)
@@vanderslagmulders your comment makes no sense. battery powered motors allows for longer commutes. I said I prefer to just pedal, which is a manual type of labor. you should re-read before you post. Like you worry me.
Eek. Prefer the look of swyth for converting a Brompton. To much work , to many wires hanging around. Wires under frame look perfect for resting (catching) your feet on, just before you’d crash. I do prefer the lower battery holder and remote.. but , I would put my safety first. Tidy it up and it could be ok
The same problem are on the electric Brompton, is not possible put one bag on it Have to keep the bag mount and have to be able to put the battery in the bag if require or only in the mount bag . Solve this, and will be an very nice kit.
Nice video but no mention of motor and battery specs🤔 The fact that the battery uses the Brompton bag carrier block is definitely a downside😕 I have 3x Bafang BBSHD 1kw kits on my 2 Bromptons and an MTB. These have plenty of power and a lot of torque if required. The 17.5ah batteries mean 30-35 miles on a mid-range setting. Both motor and battery weigh in at about 4kg each. A downside is that it stops a full fold and taking abroad is problematical so i remove the motor and battery and replace with the original Brompton chainset. A single kit is about £1k. I will probably purchase a single Swytch to fit a Brompton. These are reasonably priced at about £550 for the extended battery/range PRO. The kit allows the battery to be amounted above the bag and the bike folds. The battery is light and can be carried as hand-luggage. Unlike the Bafang which can freewheel the Swytch allows normal pedalling in addition to power-assisted which the Bafang does not - if you have no battery charge in the Bafang then normal pedalling is a ball-ache.....so i carry another 4kg battery if i think i will run out of juice. It is horses for courses so i will have both as i only use bikes for transport. I liked the video but for the discerning biker we need specs and price👍🏻
There are two types of electric bicycles (“eBikes”): (1) fully electric driven eBikes; and (2) power-assisted eBikes; and the types of eBike allowed to run in public roads is subject to laws of different countries. Riders have to pedal “at all times” if the eBike is of power-assisted type. For power-assisted eBikes with sensor installed, the sensor would transmit information of pedaling frequency and pedaling force of the rider to the controller. After receiving the sensor signal, the controller would adjust the torque or power of the motor according to the size of the signal, so as to regulate the auxiliary speed correspondingly. This is beneficial to extend the cruising range and the battery life; and let rider enjoy a better driving experience.

Is it cheaper to do Brompton conversion than buying the Brompton ebike factory setup?

Seems to me folk have more money than sense
Not looking for a music video
装置が複雑すぎる。専用バッグも使えなくなるし。よくないね。
Sorry, but I saw nothing in the video .... Why "electric" if at all times have to pedal?
There are two types of electric bicycles (“eBikes”): (1) fully electric driven eBikes; and (2) power-assisted eBikes; and the types of eBike allowed to run in public roads is subject to laws of different countries. Riders have to pedal “at all times” if the eBike is of power-assisted type.

This is beneficial to extend the cruising range and the battery life; and let rider enjoy a better driving experience.
The pedal-assist is very significant. If you want something were you dont have to pedal, go for a Moped or better yet a scooter
What's with the music, is someone lazy to narrate.
