Hello, many brands actually use this aikema (AKM85SX(F1)) motor in electric kits used in Brombton. It is a motor that does a really good job according to its weight. KT supports serial controllers and lcd's. I collected it myself, I am quite satisfied. The brand you bought loaded the battery directly on the handlebar, which is not a good situation, the handlebar will become cumbersome. However, I think there is kunteng (KT e bike controller) in it, maybe you can improve it. Note, if you buy directly from a Chinese shopkeeper in the form of a kit, the engine and controllers cost 200 dollars excluding the battery, you can probably get much more affordable in different countries with Turkish taxes.
I used the Grin Technologies Brompton kit and it probably gives you the most options based on its sophistication. I also like the ability to use different batteries based on the Anderson connectors. It also gave me a front light, rear light, phone charger, and a power source for my GoPro.
Put one of your 'mesh' repeater gizmo's in it as well! - - I got your 26" wheel kit a while back, but as you may have noticed this winter has been VERY wet and windy, so I've not had chance to test it! Every time I had spare time, it was raining across - or sub-zero temperature!
At last...on a Brompton. And you showed my model. I have looked at other more 'main stream' suppliers but I have always been drawn back to Kirby. Mainly due to that light. If it blinked occasionally it would be quite scary LOL. I am a little concerned about having to turn the battery holder out to fold the handlebars in though. Maybe I am too fussy. As long as I can get it into an Ikea bag for travelling.
Do the front forks need to be splayed out to suit the new wheel/motor? And as the front axle of the brompton wheel is only 8mm diameter, do the dropouts need filing to take a larger diameter axle?
what's the weight of that battery feel like mounted on the bars there? I would have liked to have seen one mounted near where the regular brompton mounting point is on the front and I'm wondering why they didn't do that
I have seen people on UA-cam put a small petrol generator on the back rack of an ebike to charge the battery as it goes along to extend the range. I'm getting older and my health has deteriorated and was looking at getting a conversation kit for my Brompton. The battery is small but probably enough for the short trips around town I do. But with a genny on the back rack that's a different story.
Converted my Brompton about 3 years ago using a kit a different brand. The kits are great, not like a real e-bike which is a pain to ride without assistance you can just leave the battery at home and ride it without one.
Hi. Can you tell me the gap between the front forks? Is it 100mm which is the size mentioned in the description of the kit .. or less?. I have a folding Dahon Jack with a fork gap of 80mm. Will this Brompton EZ kit fit on my Dahon Jack's 80mm forks? I really want to get one! Thanks in anticipation.
Awesome videos! Please do kids ebike!!! Kids e balance bikes are awesome but cost a bomb. Would be so cool to be able to diy one. Wouldnt need huge batteries or motors. Please pretty please!
Hi Andy I have a ebike with a sabvoton 72100. The throttle is not working. It shows 0.16 volts on the app In the parameters. Any thoughts? It should be seeing 1.11 volts The throttle isn't working. It's set to both pedal assist and throttle in the display menu. I am stumped
Since the battery is the most expensive component in the conversion kit, I wonder why South Korea which has LG and Samsung and a lot of industries is not the main supplier?
Great idea, sadly the Brompton is the No.1 most stolen bike, demand is high. And carrying a battery around to avoid theft is bulk I don't need. Also the cost of a Brompton alone is comparable to a full suspension long range electric bike these days with locked batteries. The great thing about the Brompton though is they fold small and lightest of the lot. The shame with thefts is you need a Gold Standard Kryptonite Lock "that weighs a ton" still good results Andy I'm sure they'll sell well.
The whole point of a Brompton is to carry it with you EVERYWHERE you go or at least leave safely like in the work place, if you can’t do that , the Brompton is not for you
Why are you locking it up? When I go to the supermarket I put it in the shopping trolley. I even take it in the doctors and they look at it but have never said anything.
Hmmm... If the air had been released from the original wheel's tyre BEFORE removal, there would have been no need to fart around with the brake blocks.
I have just purchased 2 Engwe Engine X bikes and OMG Electric is the way to go. These un restricted can exceed over 35mph so dont do it as UK law is 15mpg lol

good question
Just waiting for our latest Kirby ebike kit to land! 👍
Good to see you back on the ebikes 😁
Planning on buying this, has anyone here actually used it and installed it? how was the experience? is it worth it?
Fantastic bit of kit!
Nice kit and very well integrated. Have you tried raising your saddle? It would make your knees feel better and help with the hills too.
My ADO is a folder, its heavy gauge welded aluminium extrusions though. Weighs a ton TBH. Hard going without assist but a breeze with it on...🤔😮🇬🇧
Did you say you sell these kits? Seems very similar to the switch kits, how much are your kits ?

I'd love to see solid tires, and a belt or shaft drive would be nice.

Do the motors cut when you stop pedaling and freewheel? :)
Very nice, but my brommy has black rims and hubs, I see this only available in silver/chrome

Sorry (see below) 74mm not 80mm! Can I get a 20'' wheell with a 74mm fork width for my folding Dahon Jack?

Don't suppose youv any hacks on unlocking my elec bike speed It's a basic square screen with 5 assist settings , stops15 mph max
hi is it a 9 pin Julet waterproof connector for e-bike front wheel ?
Does altering the pedal assist sensor by cutting the two tabs void the guarantee?
No 👍🏻
Where's the inline 4 600cc option?
E Sooter law change in Finland, next month, if its load is over 25 kg or has speed up to 25km has to have road insurance

no need to remove the brake pads, just let the air out and sqeeze the tyre
Great job, that is my plan down the line 👌 Can you use the Metro messenger bag with this setup?
