Imagine the late 70’s, driving around in the summer with nothing to do and no responsibilities. This is how this song feels to me looking back.
We used to cruise the strip here in San Leandro, California Friday and Saturday nights all thru the 1970s. Cruising looking at the girls and vise versa and cranking rock n roll. Such peaceful fun partying times. I saw Fleetwood Mac on a Day On The Green at the Oakland Coliseum in 1975. The lineup that day was, Robin Trower, Dave Mason, Fleetwood Mac, Peter Frampton and Gary Dream Weaver Wright. Wow what a show. Loved Stevie Nicks and Christie McVie and Lindsey Buckingham on guitar. So good. Should mention Mick Fleetwood and John McVie too.

Dive into this band. They have many good to great songs. Christie McVie, who recently passed away, sang lead vocal for the song, "You Make Lovin' Fun". Stevie Nicks was the lead vocal on this song.
Boy, that song took me back. I was a huge hit at the time, which was nice. This is a great song and it was a hit, which doesn't always happen. Keep the reactions coming, I know you have a backlog and not enough time, and we appreciate the effort to keep them flying! So to speak
Stevie Nicks wrote this song about the breakup between her and the guitar player next to her. She is still on tour right now and will be 75 in May. Rumours is still one of the best selling albums of all time, check the album version of The Chain.
They were originally a British blues band of the 1960's and were originally known as Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, named after bass player John Mcvie and drummer Mick Fleetwood. Peter left in the early 70's after suffering from a drug problem. They have had many lineup changes over the last 50 years or so ,but John and Mick are still performing as their rhythm section!!
A good collection of pre Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie is a collection called Fleetwood Mac vintage years which includes a very very early version of Black Magic Woman😉
It IS a beautiful song, soft and calming but suggesting deeper, more turbulent things beneath.

Great song choice. One of THE iconic songs of the second half of the 70s. This song announced the arrival of the new version of this band and they became huge over the next few years. Glad you got to hear it! As usual you made very insightful comments - it is both calming and yet sad. Dreamlike is a good description. Christine McVie did pass away recently, but this was Stevie Nicks singing this song and she is still with us. Christine does sing on other songs though.

Ladies Fleetwood Mac is easily one of the most dynamic bands of the 70's. Their complicated inter band relationships produced some of the best music in Rock history. Their album Rumours is a definitive masterpiece. The vocalist in this song was Stevie Nicks. They had basically three lead vocalist Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckingham. I too love Stevie's voice. I would recommend you try The Chain to hear Lindsey's voice along with their unbelievable harmonies. As for Christine I would suggest the song Everywhere as an example of Christine's angelic voice.

This song was about a break up and the breaking of Stevie's heart. Christine Mc Vie was the other female vocalist, who also played the keyboards, and wrote her songs on the piano. Stevie Nicks wrote her's on guitar. Despite their differences, they were very good friends.

Dreams. There was once a time 45 years ago when just about every man on Earth dreamed about Stevie Nicks. She was the most famous female singer in the world with her beauty and ethereal voice. Fleetwood Mac started out in the 1960's as an English blues band which found little success outside the UK. They changed to a pop rock band when Stevie and Lindsey Buckingham joined the band in 1975. Within a few months they were the biggest band in the world.
So excited you found Fleetwood Mac. This album came out when I was 15 and I still love it. You've only scratched the surface of the greatness of this band and of Stevie Nicks who sings this song. Love how insightful you are and really live the music, you don't just feel it.
Guys, try listening to Silver Springs from live concert, The Dance in 1997. The emotion is incredible...even 20 yrs after Stevie & Lindsey (guitarist) broke up,...you must see it. 🙂

There are a handful of songs that have so clearly passed the test of time, and this is one of those songs. Not many people can deny that this song is a classic. Decades from now it will STILL give you that floaty feeling of calm and better days, whether they’ve passed us by or whether they’re on the horizon.

Fleetwood Mac has been around for a long time and they've had many different members. "Dreams" was from their "Rumours" album which pretty much hit #1 worldwide in 1977.
With that said, they sounded very different earlier in their career.
Check out "Green Manalishi (with the Two Prong Crown)" or "Oh Well (Parts 1 & 2)" to hear a very different side of the group.
Hey very good, hello and nice to see you girls in a new reaction. In the musical Industry the 1977 "Rumours" album was at the peak in the top 5 best sellings albums ever. The relationships among the members of the band was not in the best way, may be the reason why they`d create such a killer album like this one as well. A master piece that deserves to be listened from first to final track, and my fav one is "The Chain", outstanding song, so the same to "Don`t Stop", "You make loving Fun", "Second hand News", "Go Your Own Way". Theres nothing left to say.

Please explore more Fleetwood Mac, but also Stevie Nicks as a solo artist. She is a very prolific songwriter with a style like no one else. Also look into background info on the relationship between Stevie and Lindsey. It adds another level of meaning to their songs.

As mentioned, they have many hits/good songs especially from the "Rumors" album. Note also that there are multiple lead vocalists and songwriters (Christine, Stevie, and Lindsey).
For you two, I'd suggest next the signature song of Christine McVee, "Songbird" - a very emotional song. It is more of a solo of Christine's.
For other songs of the band:
Stevie and Lindsey's "Landslide" (covered by the Dixie Chicks and others so you may have heard it).
"Go Your Own Way" has Lindsey Buckingham on lead vocals and is more of the Fleetwood Mac sound.

Listen to it again, this time understand that the singer and the guitar player were in the middle of breaking up. Note the. opening line "So there you go again saying you want your freedom" Also the Bass Player and. Keyboard player were going. through a divorce. How this album ever got recorded is a miricle, so much anger and pain but you can here it in her voice and in the performance.

Another band that I have seen LIVE. (I have an entire drawer of rock concert t-shirts from shows I have seen. All black of course). The band has an interesting history where like ABBA, all the members were married and divorced from each other at one point, making for an interesting dynamic that surprisingly worked for decades and multi-platinum albums. Singer/keyboardist Christine McVee, who sang lead on many of their hits, recently passed away, making big news in the music world. But, she was not the lead singer in this video. That was Stevie Nicks. Their biggest hits were of the more mellow 'radio friendly' variety , but their LIVE shows were a lot more 'rocky'. Lead guitarist, Lindsey Buckingham, in my opinion is one of the best and most under rated guitarist in the world. He van pick like no one I have ever seen.
