  • Hey you guys! Our dad was right, RUSH was different, but they were amazing! The Bassist was incredible! He was a master with the bass! The drummer was dead on! Incredible beats, fills and he was a blast to listen to! And we can't forget the guitarist with his incredible riffs! RUSH is a Three man band, but wow! It sounded like an orchestra filled with musicians! We can see why you wanted us to react to them! We can't wait for more RUSH suggestions! Thank you all for your suggestions and as always stay safe and we'll see you in the next reaction!
    R.I.P Neil Peart
And don't forget tomorrow Saturday July 11, 2020 12:30 PM (Pacific Time) We are going live for a brief Q&A ! See you then!

Your Dad did a great thing - he introduced you to Rush - the greatest group of talent ever. Geddy Lee - Bass, keyboards, vocals. Alex Lifeson - guitars of every sound; and The Professor - Neil Peart - the greatest drummer ever. The did it for 40+yrs. The Professor passed away in January - RIP. Please try Tom Sawyer - official video next. You are about to start a journey and will have a lot of followers for it. Enjoy the ride!

No lyrics, but still a story to it: YYZ is the airport code for Pearson in Toronto. Their home airport. When they saw the YYZ on their bags, they knew they where finally heading home.
Also, the beginning of the song is the morse code for YYZ.

    • @FlightData101
      @FlightData101 2 роки тому

They wrote this song after flying back to YYZ in a chartered airplane with a friend of mine who was the pilot. They were returning from a gig in Chicago. Neil was sitting in the co-pilot’s seat when he heard the tones for the YYZ VOR (a navigation beacon for the airport), he asked my friend what he was hearing. He explained it was the Morse code for the beacon. The rest, as they say, is music history.

You two have so much awesome music from them to explore!
This group is so unique, there were times when the bass player does sing and play bass AND keyboard all at the same time. Geddy Lee.
Alex Lifeson was/is an incredible guitarist. He was with two other insanely talented musicians and I think because of that, he has not been seen by some as the guitar magician he is.
Neil Peert (pronounce "peer" and add a t) was a great drummer early, but studied with a jazz drumming teacher and became insanely great. He sometimes would add classical instruments like glockenspiel to his kit and studied the proper way to use them.
Neil also was the main lyric writer. He loved to read and had a great appetite for learning by riding around on his motorcycle and seeking to understand all kinds of people. So his lyrics were often deep. But if the others thought they needed something different he would revise them, no problem. No ego tripping, just pure devotion to the art of the song.

Drums-Neil Peart is regarded by many as the greatest drummer in rock. In the late 80's through the 90's Neil had a 250 piece drum set and he would play every part of it in concert. Watch his solo-Rhythm Method from the A Show of Hands tour.
RUSH was ahead of most groups in that they had these foot pedals on stage that activated computer prompts so that it sounded like there was 8 musicians on stage when in reality there was only three.
On stage antics. RUSH would place certain things on stage for amusement purposes. In the Show of Hands tour Geddy had troll dolls on his keyboard that belonged to his kids. He also had a brandy snifter with crumpled dollar bills as if he was a lounge singer. In this video they had the washing machine and dryer on stage and they would actually do laundry during a concert (the joke-they are as interesting as watching laundry). Also on one tour they had a forty foot tall inflatable bunny on stage. On the next tour after the bunny would inflate a second bunny would inflate and shoot the other bunny.

I agree with Jay, your dad is awesome! I have been a fan of RUSH about as long they were together before breaking up in 2015 after their final tour, R40. I was fortunate enough to see them in concert in 2010 on their Time Machine tour's stop in West Palm Beach, Florida. 3 and Half Hours of music. Sadly, Professor Neil Peart on drums died after long battle with caner back January of this year.

Too bad Sara missed out on this one!! I was about your age when I first heard Rush in the mid 80’s being In Canada - so proud of these 3 Canadian artists and masters of their craft! There’s so many epic songs to listen to... you need to realize that you have before you one of the world’s best drummers Neil, best bassists in Geddy and an underrated guitarist, Alex who should rank amongst the top 10 - Xanadu, Villa Strangiato and 2112 ( one song is the entire side of an album) - ask your dad what an album is lol - there is not a bad song to listen to and as the band progressed, their sound changed and developed so that each album was greater than the last but still sounded different and new. Amazing band... my favorite band!

The best part is that the band have been really good friends for over 40 years! There’s a video of them having dinner and they’re goofy and funny and you can tell how good a friendship they had!

This song was originally a "warm up" song for the band. One day their manager heard the band performing the song and said:"You guys should record this."

before Rush made it big they played in my high school. Three great musicians. The drummer passed away January 2020. He was a new type of drummer and an inspiration to many of the best drummers now.

    RIP Neil Peart 1952-2020
💥THE GIRL WHO LISTENED TO RUSH💥
From the back of the stadium
    She’s easy to see
    Standing up at the stage
    In her Starman tee
    From Anthem to Limelight
    To YYZ
She’s the girl who listened to Rush
    And all of the rockers
    And all of the heshers
Well they dreamed of the day
    That they might get her
    And drive her away
    In a Red Barchetta
She’s the girl who listened to Rush
    Philosophers and ploughmen
    They can’t resist her call
    They cannot choose
    Not to decide
So they've got no choice at all
    They've gotta love her
    No she doesn’t say "Pert"
    And she doesn’t say "Part"
Yeah, she knows it’s "Neil Peert"
‘Cause he’s close to her heart
Say a prayer for John Rutsey
He was there at the start
She’s the girl who listened to Rush
    Philosophers and ploughmen
    They can’t resist her call
    They cannot choose
    Not to decide
So they've got no choice at all
    They've gotta love her
Why don’t girls ever listen to Rush?
    But she listened to Rush!
    The blacksmith and the artist
    They can’t resist her call
    You cannot choose
    Not to decide
So you’ve got no choice at all
No you’ve got no choice at all
    You’ve gotta love her
