I have to play the game more to confirm my theory but taking Leshy as an example, it looks like those horned worms in the darkwood which means either it created them or it is one of those worms that achieved godhood
@@argus2389 tbh i think i might know how godhood works,at least where the bishops and the lamb are concerned. For how,the bishops acended through either death or were born such From what i gathered, between narinders red crown and slaying the 4 gods, the lamb in a way, slowly acended, and upon casting down narinder, regardless if he falls or is spared, the lamb acended into true godhood, and where narinder is the god of the dead, the lamb is the god of rebirth
i saw someone point out once that each bishop's nature really highly resembles the stages of grief. Leshy is denial. He's very clearly naive and acts incredibly cocky towards The Lamb despite being the weakest physically. He, like the other bishops, is pained by what Narinder had done, and is alarmed by the Lamb's swift progress. However, unlike his siblings, he refuses to admit to it. Perhaps he didn't want to be seen as weak. After all, he is the youngest and the least experienced of his siblings, and the others see him as such. However, he refused to accept that label of inferiority. Because of this, Leshy lived in arrogant denial of the fact that The Lamb was something he should be wary of, and paid the price for it. Heket is anger. Her demeanor upon meeting The Lamb in Anura for the first time is incredibly damning and intense, especially if you kill Leshy before entering Anura. Although all the bishops tended to slew insults at The Lamb, it was only Heket who seemed to criticize them and guilt trip them in a very thought out way. Her frustration was entirely vented through viciously concentrated rage towards The Lamb, and she is not afraid to justify her anger. If you enter Anura before killing Leshy, she very explicitly states that the other bishops are her family, and that The Lamb was making them suffer, hence her intense hatred for The Lamb and Narinder. She was a leader and protector to her siblings, and anger was her rule. Kallamar is bargaining. Upon meeting Kallamar in Anchordeep, he puts up a front of confidence, but this front slowly chips away the further you progress into his lands. In Kallamar's final dialogue before you confront him in battle, he, quite literally, attempts to bargain for his life, begging and giving excuses before attempting a compromise by suggesting you kill Shamura but spare him. We know Kallamar is not mentally strong whatsoever, and lacks the charisma and self esteem to control his followers in the way the others can. He has no choice but to oppress his followers with his powers until they're too weak to deny him. He must compromise and he must bargain to grasp onto comforting control. Shamura is depression. Shamura is the one who was most changed after Narinder's betrayal. Not only was their mind clouded due to brain damage, but they were left more heartbroken than any of the others. Shamura had their will shattered and their spirit crushed in an irreversible way. They lived with a constant looming darkness of guilt, regret, and grief hanging over them. Shamura is the only one that does not deny that you will kill them, and it seemed that they were ready to accept their saddening fate. This may not have been intentional, but Shamura's fight is noticeably less challenging than Kallamar's, and I think that's worth considering with the rest of the context. Finally, Narinder is (ironically) acceptance. Narinder had spent so long unhappy with his place, and in attempting to bolster his power, he created a tragedy with himself at the center. Narinder, forever ungrateful, refuses to accept anything about himself. He doesn't accept his domain, he doesn't accept criticism, and he even refuses to accept blame for what happened. It is only The Lamb that is ever able to force Narinder to accept one thing; that he is less powerful than The Lamb. And, if you choose to spare him, he is forced to accept life as a semi-mortal being after having his godhood stripped away. Although Narinder may not admit it outright, it's only after he finally accepts his place in the world that he is at peace.
Fun fact: A bellwether is a sheep designated as the "leader" of a flock. This sheep wears a bell that others follow the sound of. The Lamb wears a bell and is considered to be the cult's leader, but *ultimately* belongs to TOWW unless they rebel, thus they're technically the bellwether of the "flock"! Pretty cool detail, huh?
The refuse and spare ending honestly gives me the impression that at some point there's going to be a sequel game that's more of a open world roguelike where it follows an outsider found on the washed up fragments of a boat alongside a map that ends up revealing the world map to be much bigger than it is with additional Islands: it would honestly be a good way of enlarging the already existing world map and give the player a personal custom character and maybe even improve the importance of followers by having them assist you in dungeons as ai or co-op and even tag along to carry more materials.
I really hope there is a larger sequel, maybe one where the Lamb is the antagonist and the outsider is trying to free the land from the Lamb's influence Far Cry 5 style.

Great lore video. I know they said they were gonna put some updates in the game with more story dlc I think. So we might see more happen in the future.
This is great, thank you. I haven't played the game myself (Dungeon crawlers just aren't really my thing) but watched some people play it on UA-cam - but because they edited down their videos and because of the semi-random nature of the game, I didn't realize how much of a story there actually was. It makes me really happy for some reason that you mentioned the Bishops being named appropriately - Heket the Egyptian frog deity, Kallamar the squid, Leshy the forest deity. (I only know about Leshy because another game, Inscryption, features a forest-themed being also named Leshy.) Somehow I totally missed the inspiration of the Four Horsemen - I picked up on Heket brining famine and Kallamar bringing disease, yet somehow totally missed the connection. I also missed their "See no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil, think no evil" theme. I find it strange that there are really no "good guys" in this story, but I guess that's actually truer to life than expected. Is the Old Faith good or evil? Are the Bishops good or evil, or just following their intended purpose, like forces of nature? Is the lamb a savior to the others creatures or just a different kind of tyrannical deity for them to bow to? It's very interesting.
I like that there are no good guys in the story. I don't think the Lamb is a savior - yes they can 'save' perspective followers from being sacrificed to the bishops but they then brainwash them to get them to join and stay in the cult (and can also sacrifice the followers at will without the others doing anything).
Not going to lie I wish there was some form of Hostility when you first indoctrinate the one who waits that would slowly go away as you raise there Loyalty. a little boring that they just become a normal follower. Besides that great video!
I felt that way with the Witnesses, too. It would have been nice to see a more potent form of mutiny culminating in some kind of choice to spare them and anyone who followed them or otherwise. Other than prisons and sacrifice, I mean.
That would've been cool, I would have liked it if there was a Dishonoured style non-lethal option for the Bishops with the chains being linked to their power rather than their lives.
I wonder of their are humans beyond the known borders if the fiction game lands. Would make for interesting second game where maybe the lamb aims to expand the culture and its power to other far off lands where the lamb cult would be alien to others and evil to some.

I'd like either that, or another game altogether, potentially a prequel multiplayer where the characters are all the bishops/siblings working together to kill off the other gods and pioneer their own religion.
Something that I’m thinking about is the crowns. The lamb wears the red crown and gets it’s abilities, so what happened to the crowns of the other bishops? Perhaps taken?
I think lamb choose to spare cuz was resurrected by the one who waits and also how was the change of aura might only means Lamb actually can change that fate for good

@@EvenBadWolvesGaming Indeed. My concern however is that, like Cuphead, there would be compromises and they'd just be selling themselves out. No sacrifices, no cannibalism, no pooping etc. It's a cult. Not a children's daycare.
I like how you referenced the IRL religions that Leshy is based off of, but failed to notice that Kalamar's boss form is Shiva, with the many arms holding different weapons (one of which includes a Christian Orb and Cross).
I’m not sure that’s Shiva. If it was a reference to a Hindu god, Kali would be more likely I think (given the name). Could also be Amun which would fit in with Heket, or one of the bodhisattva (which could explain his reluctance to fight). Or another four armed diety from a different religion entirely. Though none seem a good explanation for the globus cruciger.
Fun fact: While Leshy is a reference to the CHARACTER in Binding of Isaac, Conquest is actually the 1st horseman in the Bible. Plauge actually replaced Conquest in most depictions.
Ok here's what I don't like, they said the bishops killed all the lambs in the world when there could still be some survivors out there somewhere and we just might never know What do you guys think?
I built my cult as a counterpoint to the bishops (entirely on accident, I just tried to build my own personally preferred sort of religion). I bid my followers to feast, to be wealthy, to be well, to live in freedom, and to live eternally through repeated resurrection (or find peace in another realm through my Ascension ritual). I imagine my Lamb rising up, not as Death, but as something else.
i would like the idea of when new cults appear and you kill their leader almost, whey will return to their normal form, and you could either spare them, gain 25 faith, 2 new followers, and the bishop of the cult, but if you kill them then their cult will secretly invade yours and when the time is right, all start to dissent at once, which will be chaos.
I'm kind of sad that if you sacrifice yourself you don't just get rezzed again with the One Who Waits being all "... I'm death! Did you think you were going to stay... Oh my goodness I'm so sorry."
seeing as they went with the saying " see no evil hear no evil speak no evil and think no evil" they go with the " do " and uses the same characters but the rebirthed version? idk if thats too cliche or just dumb but thats my opinion
What we know of the world. Is that there used to be hundreds of gods but conflict thinned their numbers. So it wouldn't be out of place that the lands of the old faith was where the the bishops and narinder managed a stranglehold with them dead. Others gods would be free to invade.
When you realize that this game is basically saying God or the god of death is a black cat: Me: "stares at my all white cat who for some reason has a spear floating around him" if a black cat is the god of death, then are you the god of life?
That would be cool, though I think I would like it even more if in that kind of DLC we played as one of the opposing cults and the Lamb is the antagonist having become completely corrupted by Narinder’s power and needing to be locked away as he was.
I want to see full campaign sized DLC's and a sequel or 2, something similar to Command & Conquer Generals / Zero Hour and Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War / Winter Assault / Dark Crusade / Soulstorm / Dawn of War 2 / Dawn of War 2 Chaos Rising / Dawn of War 2 Retribution / Dawn of War 3.
I want to see an holy version of this game we play as an angel who was tasked to destroy the cult of the Lamb but we have a choice we can destroy the cult or become the new cult leader!

Ah yes. They are under threat by the god of death, so they trapped him in the realm of death and then they decided to kill his prophesied chosen one. To send him to the realm of death.... where the god of death is trapped. Looks like the god of wisdom had a very large oversight.
I was somewhat disappointed when I realized that there weren't unique endings to this game based on the number of followers you have sacrificed, like the kill count of Undertale.

Thank you!! This helped me understand the story a lot!! 👍
I'm so glad!
Thank you for ❤️ and replying!!
Another amazing video! Better then most of the big gaming channels. Keep up the good work.
LET'S BUMP UP THAT ALGORITHM PEOPLE!
Thank you for the support!
Fun fact: While Leshy is a reference to the CHARACTER in Binding of Isaac, Conquest is actually the 1st horseman in the Bible. Plauge actually replaced Conquest in most depictions.
PRAISE THE MIGHTY LAMB
i saw you mention tboi's horsemen and use them in your lore summary. 👏👏👏
R34 artist when cult of theblamb came out: let us introduce ourselfs
I assume there'd be a different religions on another region other than the old faith... Something like new faith Xd
Ok here's what I don't like, they said the bishops killed all the lambs in the world when there could still be some survivors out there somewhere and we just might never know
What do you guys think?
I built my cult as a counterpoint to the bishops (entirely on accident, I just tried to build my own personally preferred sort of religion).
I bid my followers to feast, to be wealthy, to be well, to live in freedom, and to live eternally through repeated resurrection (or find peace in another realm through my Ascension ritual).
I imagine my Lamb rising up, not as Death, but as something else.
1) fight death
2) spare her
3) marry her
I was hoping to someone doing this... Thanks
i would like the idea of when new cults appear and you kill their leader almost, whey will return to their normal form, and you could either spare them, gain 25 faith, 2 new followers, and the bishop of the cult, but if you kill them then their cult will secretly invade yours and when the time is right, all start to dissent at once, which will be chaos.
came here after the new stupendium song about the game, thanks for the lore
I'm kind of sad that if you sacrifice yourself you don't just get rezzed again with the One Who Waits being all "... I'm death! Did you think you were going to stay... Oh my goodness I'm so sorry."
seeing as they went with the saying " see no evil hear no evil speak no evil and think no evil" they go with the " do " and uses the same characters but the rebirthed version? idk if thats too cliche or just dumb but thats my opinion
Lamb supremacy.
What we know of the world. Is that there used to be hundreds of gods but conflict thinned their numbers. So it wouldn't be out of place that the lands of the old faith was where the the bishops and narinder managed a stranglehold with them dead. Others gods would be free to invade.
I wonder if some of the gods are still sleeping?
When you realize that this game is basically saying God or the god of death is a black cat:
Me: "stares at my all white cat who for some reason has a spear floating around him" if a black cat is the god of death, then are you the god of life?
We need lite for that wolf dude that makes you sacrifice ratau
Very cool review!
My like was the one to get the it to 666
Why did he wait til the last lamb to do stuff? Why not just do it with the first?
Lol idk maybe he’s a big procrastinator
He is called the one who waits
A interesting DLC could be about cults fighting your own the Lamb becomeimg a god
I am not sure if I remember this correctly but in the Bible lambs represent Jesus I think
Lamb is Lamb :)
@@czeianamiguel5543 bruh
Yeah because Jesus was basically a sacrifice and god has a history of sacrifices being made to him of lambs, like Cain and Abel.
@@popikotroni5301 yes :)
@@aldiascholarofthefirstsin1051 good thing I remember it correctly
I want to see an holy version of this game we play as an angel who was tasked to destroy the cult of the Lamb but we have a choice we can destroy the cult or become the new cult leader!
The last lamb standing.
Am I the only one getting hollow knight vibes from this
Oops i beat the bosses in the wrong order. No wonder i thought the second one was so hard. I went to the sea level one second. That one was the hardest of all bosses too.
that is just... not possible in this game? you cant really do that
@@igorpelc8474 i did. I fought the sea level as the second boss. It took me so many tried. then the 3rd and 4th boss was super easy.
Wish i could prove it but I dont know how. But i know for sure that happened for me.
@@igorpelc8474 If you keep collecting followers, you can basically open all four boss areas at once.
@@igorpelc8474
You can fight the spider dude as your second boss if you grind followers in the Darkwood.
Hiyaaa I was wondering if you'd be down for something like a horror gaming/horror movie group? We have a lot of fun in there with topics like this and I figured I'd ask accordingly. The horror Discord is on my main UA-cam page. It can't be missed!
Thanks for the invite, I’ll check it out later.
@@EvenBadWolvesGaming Thank you, hopefully you come around and really love all the horror fun we have to offer.
Ah yes. They are under threat by the god of death, so they trapped him in the realm of death and then they decided to kill his prophesied chosen one. To send him to the realm of death.... where the god of death is trapped. Looks like the god of wisdom had a very large oversight.
Yeah definitely wasn’t thought through. To be fair though he does have a significant brain injury.
To be honest, if they had sealed away the Lamb as well or simply enslaved them, the events of the game could have been avoided, lol
Why does Haro have a crown like the
Bishops?
He’s probably one of the forgotten gods he was talking about.
I was somewhat disappointed when I realized that there weren't unique endings to this game based on the number of followers you have sacrificed, like the kill count of Undertale.
What happens if you die after defeating "the one who waits", aka. the one who kept resurrecting you? no cutscene?
Girl, with videos like this you need a patreon. Your voice is lovely and your audio quality is snatched. My only criticism is that you have to zero the beginning and ending of your voice clips to get rid of that popping sound whenever you end the take.
Thank you, you're very nice. I'm still figuring out how to best edit audio so thank you for the advice. I have thought about trying Patreon but I want to have a bit more content up first.
