Very funny. My snail just literally jumped off the side of the wall of the fish tank, climbed all the way back up and jumped again. 😩 idk what he’s doing but he’s very adventurous 😂
I have actually found that they will much rather fed on veggies and pellets, and blood worm. Mine are not small and it's better to keep them as one snail per 5 gallons. You neglected to tell ppl that these snail in fact put out a heavy bio load, and they die in your tank they will cause a massive ammonia spike. I know this from breeding and raising these snails.
I had a big Golden Apple Snail die in my 20 gallon tank , and I've got 4 Rosy Red Minnows , and one Mosquito fish and a Chinese algae eater. I did replace the charcoal filter and took the dead snail out .
How long do they live? I’ve had one for about 8 months now and it’s gotten huge. It’s the only snail in my 30gal tank, so it has plenty of room. But I’m really shocked by how much it’s grown

Your beta isnt happy lmao. Ignorance is bliss i suppose. Your beta should be in a 5 gallon at the MINIMUM even then its pushing it. 10 and up is ideal.
DontF***WithMyRanchu If you knew about my situation and what my tank looks like, you wouldn’t think that, he’s active and is comfortable, he’s healthy and doing just fine, i have a filter and heater, it all depends on the fish, i’m getting a 5 gallon in the future when i see he’s not doing well, and if you want me to listen to your argument, don’t be rude about it :)
I bought two of these for my planted Aquarium but they started eating away the roots of the plants and their leaves as well so I had to remove them. My question is - why are snails recommended for planted Aquariums when they cause damage to the plants ?
You got the wrong apple snail. Pomacea Maculata is the largest of the apple snails and is a voracious eater. It will destroy your plants. P. Brigesii are a lot smaller and do not eat live plants at all unless it has nothing else to eat. P. Diffusa will starve if it has no dead/dying plants or algae to eat.
Why?? Because if the fish in the tank are messy eaters, then they are less destructive. But, after making mine eat Huge masses of light green soft Hair Algae for over a week, they stepped up their game, started on the crypts, frogbit and eventually Amazon Swords, which they had previous not touched at all. And, the larger the Apple Snail, the more potential to hurt plants. Mystery Snails are a smaller version.. but ARE still Apple Snails. So, don't put big Apples in with most carpetting plants in Aquasoils. They easily rip them out.
Probably the ph, temperture or the type of food you're giving them. Airstones might be needed if its a small tank. If you have other animals such as fish, they might have been picking them to their death. If ur a complete noob to the aquarium hobby, please make sure ur tank is cycled.
Almost every additive for fish health will harm them. I added some when I had a sick fish, since it wasn't harsh medication and "safe for all fish" I put in the tank. The snail jumped out it's shell. Now, I remove the individual fish and qt it.
I was thinking of getting a 1-3 gallon tank and a few of these I have a 5 gallon betta tank but he's pretty aggressive so putting tankmates with him isn't something I'd want to test
Mine used to be really active but I’ve had it for a little over a month now and it just kinda chills in the same two spots and idk if I should be worried
Yes they clean the aquarium constantly... the graze non stop.. i am so happy with these they don't attempt to go out in the aquarium... but sadly they go one by one... just get a pair.. its good.. non stop cleaners... 24/7
Very helpful video. I am starting a snail aquarium. We had 1 of . 15 snails in our class 50 gallon fish aquarium that survived almost 2 years now. Its a pretty big mystery snail. Can you give me any advice about feeding or special things I should do for the new tank? Will my snail be okay without a heater? I wasn't sure so i didn't buy it. I found this video amd decided to ask an expert. Also, i have a two gallon tank. Would it ne okay if I get a small fish to be with the snail? Or will the snail eat it....im not sure? Can you reply when you see this comment? Thanks.
A two gallon tank is plenty of room for a snail and one small fishy friend (such as a tetra, molly, or betafish) to keep him company. Just make sure you don't get a fish that enjoys snacking on snails! As for the heater, since your tank is so small, no heater should be necessary as long as your room is kept above 70 degrees Fahrenheit and doesn't exceed 85. Just keep in mind, the warmer the water, the more rampant your algae growth will be. Oh! And don't put it in direct sunlight (just so you can keep the temp pretty even and controllable). Apple Snails are pretty tolerant, so even if the temperature sinks below 70 degrees, you should be okay. I have noticed they don't like anything colder than 65 (they get sluggish and won't climb or eat), so be sure to keep them cozier than that :)
No, do not buy a betta. The minimum tank size is 2.5 gallons and they can be aggressive towards the snails as well as tetras. I recommend you just own snails for your tank size
As for tetra's i can give you 2 reasons not to own them. You sound new to the hobby and tetra's are tropical and different breeds are hardier then others, #2 they're also a schooling fish. So while one or 2 may fit in a tiny tank like yours they wont be happy and will die quickly you need a school of atleast 20 and that would require a bigger tank.
