I had a blue mystery snail for about a year and a half. She passed yesterday. She was a joy and always made me smile with her little tentacles, or when she’d parachute down from the top of the tank and bonk my goldfish in the face. Hope she’s eating broccoli in the snail afterlife :)
My son has been obsessed with snails ever since our trip to Maine last year. We finally got some mystery snails for our tank. He didn't want any fish, just snails.
Great video! Best part was the line where the rules could be bent, where then you "can duplicate, triplicate, quadruplicate, quintuplicate.... until you're the mother of snails! " So many great lines!
I’ve been watching your channel ever since I got mystery snails. Im convinced you’re one of the only people who experiences and understands the love and fascination for them that I do. I wish there was more research on them. They truly are a mystery.
I'm new to mystery snails.. and Lav I have to say this is probably the best and most informative beginners guide I've ever watched!! Thank you so much for sharing your experience and introducing me properly to these beautiful snails! Have a very blessed day my friend! ❤️🐌❤️🌿🐟🌿💚
Thank you so much for your kind words Mary Paige! They really are truly fascinating creatures and I love them so so much! Thanks for all your support and I hope you become as addicted to these magical creatures as I am ! All my very best to you my friend, thank you 💜
THANK YOU for this comprehensive guide. I bought the snails to clean up algae then fell in love with them. Only to watch this and realize I was doing EVERYTHING wrong! I gave my snails broccoli, boiled egg yolk, and an egg shell immediately after watching your video. Now onto making snello and raising the pH of the tank!
Definitely the most beginner friendly snail video I’ve watched as someone who just got mystery snails today! Thank you so much this was extremely helpful!
As others have noted, this is the most complete Mystery Snail care guide on YT. I hope you keep other types of freshwater snails and can do similar guides for them. Regardless, you earned my sub with one video and I'll be watching more.
You are a godsend. By far the best snail videos on UA-cam. I look forward to seeing you in the future and hope my snails can stay as happy and healthy as yours
I am so glad I found you! I've just raised my first mystery snail clutch, they are now pea-sized. Your channel is so helpful and informative! Thank you!!!
Parasnailing?!? hilarious and so accurate! I watch mine climb up the tank wall and push off, floating all the way down with their foot as their sail. Love it. Great video!
My adult mystery snails passed away on me awhile ago now! But God gifted me A tank with gravel with baby mystery snails in it! I found 4 of them in there! They are growing beautifully! I couldn't be happier with them!
I fell in love with these snails when I started learning about how beneficial they are. I watched them for a day and now I just adore they're dopey movements and long antennas
My goal is to be the ultimate mother of snails. They’ve given me a purpose in life again very thankful your video is amazing by the way, narrow, divergent, friendly.
Got a few 2inches mysteries on my local pond last week. Put them in my 50G pond with my shrimps & mollies. Love the way they 'inflate' themselves. They'll go near to the surface, got their long trunk out to the tip of the surface & in a couple of seconds they're floating.. drifting till they reach to my salvinia & gobbled 2 leaves.. 😅
I love my light yellow MSs, so cute when they are reaching far with their tenticles. I just hatched out part of a clutch of snails. I dont want a bunch of them, so I cut most of the eggs off, left about 12, and I can see 5 on the glass, no telling how many in the rocks. So tiny, and I cant wait for them to grow up.
My mystery snails just hatched about a week ago. The aquarium place said that they would not reproduce but here they are! Lol.. almost all of them have lived so far it's been a week.
Parasnailing! I love it! That is one of the things that makes these guys so much fun to keep. I have extremely hard well water, which is not good for many fish, but the snails love it and do a great job keeping the hard water deposits at bay! I also keep nerites , for worker bees they are the best. I wanted to share how my snails learned to play. I had a hang on the back filter and a floating thermometer and the mystery snail would manage to climb onto the thermometer and float under the filter and take rides! It would do it over and over and was really funny. I had one nerite that learned to do this too. Hopefully some of my new ones will learn to do this too! This behavior is when I realized brain or no brain they are intelligent little guys.
Mine are constantly gliding from the top of the tank top the bottom. Sometimes they land, sometimes they just roll off of things. Its so funny to watch.
I am Brazilian and I was very pleased to know that they are native from Brazil, since we have such a very restricted regulation about which kind of animals we can keep here as pets. Also I was super happy about the different colour options they have, because I just knew the golden one I was planning on putting them with my axolotls and know I am setting an aquarium just for them, so I started reading and searching about them as a crazy person and I am super happy know that I have bought quite a few, haha. I loved your videos and I have already subscribed to see and get to know more about them with you! It's just a pitty that their lives are so short and that we seem to don't have any black and albino variation here in the Brazilian marked :(
I have a rescued mystery snail! It's from a pet store that knows nothing about them! 😭😞! I now have a beautiful golden mystery snail that I need a name for! I don't know gender yet but your video helps me! ❤ I really appreciate it! I couldn't be happier with my mystery snail!
I have a few nerite snails in my other tank and I felt like trying out mystery snails for my new tank. This video has been super helpful, thank you for posting it!
Thank you for this video. I found it really helpful. I started with three snails for my aquarium and then I fell in love with them!!! I bought another 10 snails and a 10 gallon tank for them and it is heavily planted and they are so happy and snailing about. me and my 6 kids stare at this tank the most we love watching them. Love it thanks.
Wow!! So super helpful!!! I have been through DOZENS of ‘how to take care of your sneggs& snabies’ videos. I have only found two helpful ones. This was one of the two BEST! It’s such an informative video, the most crucial one that I have seen this far. Thank you so much for such useful information to make my snabies thrive!
Just discovered your video's, they are great! Just the information I need. It is a pleasure to look at your enthusiasm and your joyfull energy. Thank you so much!🙏🏻 I love my snails, they are so beautiful, now I do love them even more thanks to you. 🥰
I designed a breeder tank for shrimps and snails, it runs around 72 degrees Fahrenheit, after two months I have been successful at multi generations on mystery, zebra, and horns snails. The babies look great, I just put in a bunch of orange shrimp in hopes they will do the same soon.
Excellent video, in all the years I’ve been on UA-cam I’ve never said that to anyone. This was a very informative video for me. I bought two mystery snails about 10 days ago for my 10 gallon. After watching them and enjoying how they move around the tank, I just had to buy 4 more for my 20 gallon. I never knew watching snails could be so entertaining and calming at the same time. I have them in with Rasboras and skunk corydoras. I’ve been all over the Internet trying to figure out how to take care of them properly and make sure that the conditions are right for them. This video helped me with all of my questions so thank you so much. I’ve subscribed and will continue to watch, learn And maybe ask the occasional question 😊
I have a tank ready for a mystery snail who I'm rescuing today! I can't wait to see how it goes with it! Because it's coming from a pet store that does not know how to care for them! And I have been doing research on them lately. To get enough of what it needs I'm still collecting what it needs but almost there! But I have plenty of what I'm needing so far! Besides food for it and drift wood! Which I can get the drift wood next month easy! And the food is easy to get.
I watched my mystery snails climb to the top of the water, gather small duckweed and completely eat all the duckweed they can gather then within days tracked down all the duckweed and ate all of it
I have been following you for awhile and am so excited to come across this! I immediately liked and subscribed!!!!! Thank you for expanding to UA-cam so we can learn! I love my mystery snails....it was a surprise when I added my first one to my tank! Now I’m hooked! I make Snello and repashy, etc!
Yay! I am so excited you're here! Thanks for the support! Mysteries are quite addictive for all the right reasons ♡. I hope I may be able to help others by sharing my own personal experiences with these awesome creatures ♥️🐌♥️ I appreciate you being here 🤗!
I got super lucky when I got my mystery snails. they were a gift from a friend. They seemed to be doing well, doing their snail things, and now I have 6 little babies! They just seemed to pop out of nowhere! Now I get to watch them grow up, riding around on mommy & daddy snails shell, and just being cute little things. ❤
Well i apparently bought a already pregnant one from the store and this morning i woke up with snail eggs in the aquarium i thought the snail dried up because there were so many!
I love her energy and love for snails! I love my mystery snails and I watch them all the time they are so fun and interesting! It's nice to see so many other people share their love for these quirky little creatures. This is the best video. She covers all the important things you need to know in a fairly short amount of time. Great job
I had been waiting and waiting for clutches for weeks, all my parameters were good (I thought) and nothing happened. UNTIL.. I took your advice and bought some wonder shell and 2 days later I had 2 clutches!! (2 females, 1 male) can't wait to see baybays!! Thanks Liv!!!! 🐌 🐌 🐌
This was awesome. I enjoyed this so much. I'm a new-be when it comes to mystery snails. I had 2 beautiful golden apple snails about 20 years ago. I adored them. I got so excited when I found a large cluster of eggs on a rock off to the side of the outdoor rock waterfall and pond they were in. All was well and good and I was extremely excited about the prospect of having more golden apple snails for my pond, until I was awakened in the middle of the night to a lot of noise in the backyard. It was a family of raccoons. They destroyed everything. They shredded the water plants trying to get the fish and they ate not only the golden apple snails but the eggs as well. So, this time around I'm going to go with using an aquarium. Your video was super informative and I'm looking forward to seeing more. Thank you.
I welcomed in 4 snails today for the first time! I haven't had any kind of aquatic life in years and I'm so excited to have some again. I have two wonderful blue racer nerites, and a set of gold and black mystery's. Videos like this are SO HELPFUL!! Even more so as a new snail owner :) The personalities I have seen in the past 10 hours of having them in amazing 😂
I love my snails, we have 4 currently. Staryed whith the albino female mystery, then got her a buddy. A blue shell mystery and they mated, had a clut h and I kept most of the clutch alive and ebded up keeping 3. The papa died, not sure how bit we now have 2 marble 3 marble snails and the albino one. They are the best thing to watch and crack me up all day long.
Very informative. Thank you for explaining so well. I have four mystery snails in a 9 gallon Fluval Flex hoping that they will mate. I noticed that they all seem to mount each other but I have a suspicion that all four are male. I have changed their environment a few times to help their conditions like moving them from a 75 gallon to the 9 gallon.
Love your channel and Instagram!! My golden pair had a VERY fruitful winter and I now have a dedicated tank just for the babies. I was wondering if you've ever considered doing a video of how you clean the tank around the little babies? I need some serious tips!
Lav, you are so pretty!! I love this video!! ❤️❤️❤️. I have lost most of my mystery snails. Mine were well over a year old. I will be ordering some from you in the spring. ❤️❤️❤️
thank you for the very informative video it helped me understand a little bit more I just got three snail buddies today right now they are in a container by themselves because I think that they are too small to be put into my goldfish tank which we were planning on putting them in thank you for the information I look forward to watching more of your videos
Based on my experience with my mystery snails (Pomacea bridgesii), and the experience of many other people who have the same species, they most definitely will munch on live, healthy plants. One of mine snacks on giant duckweed (Spirodela polyrhiza) and another of mine will eat healthy leaves off of moneywort. I caught the one who was eating the moneywort, also try to nibble on a green cabomba plant, then swiftly retract his snorfer in disgust. It definitely doesn't happen frequently, that mystery snails snack on live, healthy plants, but it does happen occasionally.
Thank you so much for making this very helpful video. I got a couple of jade & gold mystery snails today and am very excited to look after them properly! I had done a bit of research prior to getting them but I wish I had watched your video first! #fingerscrossed
I seen my snails super long trunk breathing like a snorkel yesterday and it tripped me out. It exhaled a breath and then cannonballed off the glass down to the substrate.... It's a very interesting, unfamiliar creature.... I just noticed that it likes to eat my sinking loach pellets and Ive seen it eating some blanched kale that I offered. Interesting little bugger, I hope it's copacetic in my tank. The snail didnt move for the first few days when I put it in, but it cruises around and rather quickly too these days. Do these guys like friends?
Ah yes, Parasnailing is so much fun to see! I believe they DO like friends. They seem to act a bit more lively with a buddy and i personally think they enjoy having a snail friend with them. I have actually heard numerous accounts, and have personally seen it as well, of Mysteries finding "soulmates" in fellow snails. Virtually inseparable! Every time i have witnessed a bonding between two snails they almost always leave this world around the same time. From a broken heart it always seems. which tugs at my heart so much! But yes, in my opinion they do really enjoy the company of other mysteries.
I had a blue mystery snail for about a year and a half. She passed yesterday. She was a joy and always made me smile with her little tentacles, or when she’d parachute down from the top of the tank and bonk my goldfish in the face. Hope she’s eating broccoli in the snail afterlife :)

This is by far the best care give for mystery snails I've ever seen on UA-cam! ( I've actually seen most of the popular videos )
Thank you! 🐌♥️ I really appreciate that!
Always best to learn about a creature from somebody who's genuinely a fan of that creature. Love the enthusiasm!

"Mother Of Snails!!!!" - new life goal :D Thanks for a wonderful video :)
Very informative! You present this very well. Best info I've seen on UA-cam yet re: snails! Thank you!!
Great video. Love your energy. Perfect basic information. Thank you.
Thank you so much for making this very helpful video. I got a couple of jade & gold mystery snails today and am very excited to look after them properly! I had done a bit of research prior to getting them but I wish I had watched your video first! #fingerscrossed
Best of luck! I'm sure you'll do great!❤🐌
I seen my snails super long trunk breathing like a snorkel yesterday and it tripped me out.
Nelf intro music wtf love it. ❤
I keep Pomacea maculata, i'm thinking of breeding them. I love aquatic snails.
