Of all the neat (and expensive) fish in my tank, the snails are actually the most interesting to watch zoom around, and have the most boisterous personalities!
I have two snails in my ten gallon tank but then I have a bunch of their babies in a 40 gallon tank, I have a gold one and a nice ivory one, they love cucumbers and squash!! I think they're so cute and they're what really got me happy about aquatic animals:)
I got my first Mystery Snails a few weeks ago from a friend, a couple of adults and several babies. Noticed the first clutches about a week ago, but now the one female has laid another small clutch. It will be exciting to watch the progression of them.😊
My snail climbed out of the tank and fell off the rack. Was so loud it woke me up and luckily I didn’t just go back to sleep but actually found it haha. It cracked its shell but it has recovered and now I cant see the crack without trying to find it. I love these snails so much. Haven’t bred any yet, but i have had corys lay eggs on its shell before lmao
Although I don't have any personally, I got some for my daughter's tank in Kentucky and I love them!! Definitely fascinating to watch!! Always thank you for the solid info and I hope you're having an amazing day!!🙏🌿🐌🌿💚
Great video Blake we love our Goldies always had him always will we find it interesting though that people think they only live about a year we’ve had some live much longer than that and in fact get quite large not as big as apple snails of course but pretty darn big....We find them incredibly interesting to watch especially when we do time lapse videos of them.... we plan on doing more of those because they are so incredibly fun in fact we might shoot one today or tomorrow ....you’ve inspired us sir have a great day!!!!
Love Mystery snails. I had some when I was newer to aquariums, they laid lots of eggs but I got rid of them as I thought to many snails was bad at the time. I wish I let them hatch out now because I have none. Great video Blake 👍😊
Awesome Video. We have our first egg clutch. She used the underside of the glass canopy. We will see when they hatch. Stay awesome and always look forward to seeing what you will do next. Stay Awesome
Thank you so much for your video. It was very helpful. I am a first time mistress now owner. I woke up this morning on New Year’s Day defined my mystery snail had laid eggs so again thank you for your video. It was very helpful.
I just came in to check one of my tanks and there's a 2.5-3" line of eggs on the lid. This is try #3 for this pair of purple mystery snails. They keep knocking their own eggs down. I think I have the most derpy snails ever! I haven't had luck with the styrofoam floating in tank, that was try #2, I saved the eggs from the top of a moss pad/ floating plant, they kept knocking into styrofoam and pushed their eggs off! So the breeder box might be my best bet. Thanks Blake!! 🙏💙✌️
Man... Your beautiful plants including the deep reds.. At the ending credits.. Made me search your channel for No CO2.. Will have to see what colors you grow in a low tech tank. Cheers!!🍀🍻🎯
Thank u for the info. I literally just got some purple mystery snails and today there is eggs. I was like wth!! So I will attempt to keep them and thankfully I have extra breeder nets. And I’m scared to touch it but I’m going to give it a go
Oh, I have a story to tell about a baby mystery snail! (a dime size) He often likes to get into tight spaces and hide. Just a few nights ago, while I was feeding the baby fish, I couldn't find him. I thought he must have gotten out of the tank, so I looked around all over the table, on all the wires and airlines, and still no sign of him. I stepped back and felt something on the floor through my sock... it was the baby snail! He was about a foot from the table, in the carpeting. Who knows how long he had been there?! I was upset that he had died, popped him back in the tank to save his pretty shell, and explained to my son that water snails can dry out if they get out of the tank. The next morning, I woke up to feed all the baby fish, and OMG! He was crawling on the front of the glass again. We called him Jerry, like his Mom Garry, (a whole different story) but now I'm calling him Jerry Lazarus! I've never had a snail come back to life like that before and I still don't know how he got out, but I've taped down all the possible exits on the lid.
Hi. Great video and info! I want to get some cal grit for chickens to put in the filter box, but I’m worried about getting the wrong one. I’m in the US. The only type I see has probiotic in it. What are the chances that it contains harmful salt or other metals/minerals?
They love Sweet potato leaves which have calcium and much more and can be used to substitute spinach for humans. I have lots of Sweet potatoes growing so always plenty of leaves I blanch for snails.
I feed my snails bottom feeder pellets with multiple kinds of meats and proteins, and 3-4 times a week feed, cucumber, zucchini, and broccoli , and they still eat my plants. The one snail will eat 4+ pellets then still go on to eat all the plants in the tank.
Question: I have a ten-gallon tank and would like to know if I should add the baby snails to this tank immediately upon hatching. I worry they won't get the air that they need since they can't reach the top of the tank. I currently have the babies in a breeder box..which raises a question here too: If I keep them in the breeder box, is it necessary to have a tiny air filter in there as well? Or does the breeder tank not need one? Thank you in advance!
So I have an egg clutch (2 actually) & this morning I checked on them and it just looks like an empty honey come sort of. Holes where there wasn't before. No babies either. What the heck is going on here?? Should I just get rid of the clutches or should I wait and see if anything else happens?? This is my snails first eggs.
What if there is not enough room above the water line to lay the eggs? I heard someone say theirs laid eggs on the lid. I have 2 purple mystery snails that have been mating so I am wondering where they will lay the eggs. They are in a 20 gallon.
so uh quick question, i have two turtles (RES) and two mystery snails, i want the mystery snails to lay eggs, but fear that either they populate too much or the turtles consume all the eggs what do I do when they lay eggs?
Am I able to put my mystery snails in methylene blue because all of my fish have disease when they carry as well and if so, how long would I keep them in that?
I have 3 snails, one betta and 6 African dwarf frogs in my tank. The first clutch of eggs were put on one of the plants and I think the frogs ate them. This morning I watched her put new eggs at the top of the tank. The frogs can't reach it but I want to know if they hatch there will the frogs eat the babies?
I have a question 🤔. I have an ivory mystery snail since June 2021 and it's the only snail 🐌 I have in my fish tank and it laid eggs two days ago. Is it possible to laid eggs without mating?
Some snails are able to breed that way but mystery snails cant I dont believe. Might just be a female going through the usual reproductive process and wont hatch
I'm sorry but here's a newbie question. I have a single mystery snail and my 20 gallon tank for about 4 months. The other day I see a small cluster of their eggs. It was at the bottom of the fish tank. I am assuming that they are infertile eggs.
What do you do if you have snails and turtles in your same tank? My snails are big enough where my turtles leave them alone...mostly! But one of my snails laid a clutch of eggs above the water line. Its to high for my turtles to get to but when the babies hatch...?
Bro, what happens if there's 3 fully grown snails, 1 juvenile (1cm shell) but you get 3 massive egg clusters within 48hrs? Can mystery snails lay unfertilized eggs??
@@BlakesAquatics I'm guessing 1 egg cluster per adult snail which would make them ALL female so unless that 1 little juvenile is a male and already firing live rounds, the eggs are infertile 😭 They are big fatties, fed on Hikari loach wafers and zucchini🤤
I love my 2 pila apple snails. Pomacea (the snails shown) are illegal here and very invasive. Don’t leave them in nature. Mystery snails replace pila (apple) snails in east Asia. Care in aquarium is the same for both species.
I just rescued a chestnut looking mystery snail 🐌 yesterday that is in terrible shape! It's shell has cracks on it and I need to figure out the best way to help it!
My chestnut mystery snail is still having signs of cracks on her shell! Found out she escaped one tank and went to my male Betta fish tank on her own!😂
I added apple snail today.. It started digging up in the substrate.. It did that in 3 spots within first 10 minutes.. I moved it back to quarantine tank for now.. . Any reason they do that? How to get it to stop? It id ruining the aquascape by digs and uprooting plants..
Once the get too big for goldfish mouths the won't get eaten an goldfish soon accept them and leave them alone. Goldfish will definitely eat babies so protect them if you wish to raise them.
"Purely herbivorous" Lol. I accidentally smashed a small bladder snail against the aquarium glass. I watched one of my mystery snails race up and devour the entire thing. I was shocked. Also, every time I throw bloodworms in the feeder cone, I've come back a minute later to see my mystery snails had eaten the entire cube of bloodworms before the fish even knew it was there. I feed them tons of vegetables, snail food, and they have more than enough calcium- but for some reason, they seem to like meaty foods best. Don't get me wrong, it's not like they hunt any live animal down for food. I would just say they're opportunistic omnivores. If it's there, they'll probably eat it 😅😂
Saprisingly Mistery snails are not Hurbivorious they are omnivors because they will eat there own kind and dead fish if given the chance. Learned from experience when one of my mystery snails was deliberately eating another mystery snails foot. it ate half of the foot.
We got a snail from a pet store and the day after we woke up with a clutch of eggs while on the trip home we saw the fish trying to lay them in the bag 😊thanks for the video

How to make sure the hatches don’t dry out
Keep them humid. Make sure you have lods or can put them in a separate container with some damp paper towel

Id recommend hatch them in another tank with a filter that wont like a sponge filter

Do mystery snails eat Marimo Moss Balls?
Only if they are already dieing
