I was lucky and proud to see Mr. Tubb play for us while I was station overseas in the early 70's. Shook his hand and have his autograph. For some reason I never, to my dismay, attended a Hag concert. My loss.
He’s one of every country’s stars favs so you can see Merle doing a little impersonation of Tubb while singing with a legend. Then Merle himself became a legend.
1978. By 1982, the effects of emphysema had taken a toll on Mr. Tubb to the point he needed medical oxygen on hand while touring. He retired shortly thereafter and passed in 1984.

What year was this recorded?
Mary Dial 1979 most likely, he had a hit with it (again) with the Hag. I wonder how many times he played that tune. He first recorded it in 1941.
What year is this, maybe 1982 ?
1978. By 1982, the effects of emphysema had taken a toll on Mr. Tubb to the point he needed medical oxygen on hand while touring. He retired shortly thereafter and passed in 1984.
