Honestly, I would like to play a song I made a while back called "A (Hidden Memory)" by DevTrend, and I would love to create a live mashup mix with it with the ddj-flx4 :)
I’ve thought about this a lot in preparing to get my own FLX4, but the first song(s) I would play, if I won, would be a recreation of Daft Punk’s Alive 2007 set, specifically playing around with ‘Da Funk’. Daft punk is what got me into the electronic music world and I remember as a kid watching all the videos that people recorded of the set. Even now I still go back and watch break downs and try to recreate everything in my head. Truly revolutionary
I'm not even looking nor am I beginner but I can't help myself... If I see a new DJ gear video I'm watching lol... Great content as always... Keep up the great work
As another 'non-beginner', I would advise you to look at one of these cheap controllers as a casual or backup device, they are incredibly fun. I managed to pick up a Numark Mixtrack Pro FX for £160 (£110 with some vouchers I had) and it's incredibly fun. You can set it up in the front room or the kitchen etc and rock a party.
@@djstuc Absolutely agree, I use a DDJ 400 I bought off Ebay to format a lot of new tracks - its surprising how many features you dont miss from CDJs, even used it at a couple of gigs where the venue had an older setup
In my opinion the Hercules Inpulse 500 allows you to perform the jump from beginning to start your own gigs. has Microphone inputs, more pro outputs, and has the Djuced app for free that is well integrated and with a lot of updates. FLX4 for me is for begginers, but if you want to buy something that you could start working I would go for Hercules Inpulse 500.
Another option to consider is the *USED* market. You can get some really high end gear for fractions of what they would cost new. Sometimes you can even get it near brand new. *My* *DJ* *Gear:* 1. *Roland* *202* - *159.99* - it retails for 299.99. That's almost 50% off and it was near new 2. *Traktor* *S3* - *99.99* - retails for 549.99. got it on guitar center in great condition 3. *Novation* *Twitch* - *95.99* retailed when new for 449.99 4. *Hercules* *DJ-500* - Paid retail for this one but got it on G. Center for 24 months financing. *249.99* for Serato DJ Pro (perpetual lic) *49.99* for Traktor on sale from 99.99
I had the hercules inpulse 500 for 3+ years before upgrading to an opus quad. I choose for the hercules instead of something from pioneer because at the time, it had way more features than controllers of different brands within the price range. A brand like Pioneer was for me just worth the price if you’re looking at the high end products, which as a beginner is something you shouldn’t buy. I remember at the time that if I wanted a pioneer controller which could do as much as the hercules, I would have to pay €400 instead of €250. I also think that DJuced feels way more easy to use than Rekordbox. The tutorials which were included in DJ-uced also helped a ton.
Hercules 500 is handsdown the best under $300 controller. RGB pads, AUX in and great build quality. I often use it for small mobile gigs like mall stuff, house parties and anywhere I need to be 100% power outlet free. The FLX4 and Rev1 are lacking in those regards. I sold my Rev1 and the Numark has serious quality control issues. Channel faders fail too easily.
Had a DJ controller a few years back and tried for about 6 months but didn't believe I was 'artistic' enough to make something out of it......but now a year or so later I've got the bug again and would love to win. The first song I would play on it is Darude - Sandstorm. Good luck all.
For over 1 year I have Traktor Kontrol S2MK3. It comes with powerful Traktor software that I loved so much and it gives possibility to add additional functionality thought midi mappings. The DDJ-FLX4 for sure is good stuff to be more familiar with Pioneer hardware that is club standards. The first song that I will play on DDJ-FLX4 it will be Bolth - Demons From My Past
Love your layout of the info for the beginner DJs and the ecosystems… First song: sooo many to chose from… If You’re Not The One… Daniel Bedingfield… Cheers…. Thanks again…
Just sold my DDJ400 a couple of days ago because I lost my job and needed the money. I'd love to have that DDJ-FLX4 and the first I would play is Don't Make Me Wait by Bomb The Bass ft. Lorraine...great throwback song! Good luck to all of us!
If it were down to me you'd be the winner, sir. I'm 47 and bought a FLX4 last year. I downloaded each track from Mixmag Live! Vol 21 and sit in my spare room, pretending to be Bukem. RIP Conrad.
Cheers mate, went out and bought one my self. Smashing some old school dnb and the newer intelligent style. Absolutely loving it! Conrad has a a massive loss to the community Progression Sessions Tokyo will be permanently etched in my mind as one of the most defining MC performances ever, I think I’m close to wearing the CD out :)
@@Psyclic. You should record and upload some of those sets & songs! "Newer" generations have been recently interested in those amazing genres, the world would really thank you for sharing some amazing tunes
My first choice to play on the FLX-4 would be Iniko "Jericho." As an absolute beginner I bought the DDJ-400 last year and am still really happy with it.
I would have to say a mix: Intro to Jedi Mind Tricks - Design in Mailice moving into Brown paper Bag from Roni Size, then going into Robocop from Mozey, B Live then finishing off with some Chase & Status - Baddadan
I bought the Reloop Ready off eBay for the bargain price 150 bucks, the only prob is the lack of mid eq knob (high and low only) meaning when bringing in treb or bass mid will always be included as you fade up. The build quality and features are pretty amazing though.
Great video..i missed one like this on budget controllers in 2024. My first track would be Wagon Christ - Shadows...one of my favourite producers out there. ❤
My answer to the contest question: The first track I'd spin on my new Pioneer DDJ-FLX4 would transport me straight to the heart of an underground warehouse party. As I drop the needle on that mesmerizing Belfast beat, I can already feel the crowd pulsing as one. It's a tune that glues us all together, just like its name hints. With its hypnotic melody and driving rhythm, this track would be the perfect christening for my decks, setting the vibe for an unforgettable night. The name of this song is GLUE by Bicep 💪
The pioneer FLX 4, works with every mixing software, same as club layout and fairly cheap. If u can find used DDJ 400s get those if you’re really on a budget. Just use whatever speaker and headphones u have, on whatever laptop/phone/tablet. Just mix, learn the basics and if u like mixing and passionate about it as a hobby, then upgrade.
This video came at the right time. I've been searching for other videos highlighting beginner DJ controllers and most of the videos are about the Hercules 500 and the DDJ FLX4 but not the rest featured in this video. Thanks! First Song: Runaway or Mr. Brightside
One crucial thing you missed about the Numark mixtrack platinum FX is that it is 4 decks, not 2. That sold me back when I wanted a beginner controller. I'm now a Traktor Kontrol S4 user and while yes the software isn't updated much, I still think the feel of NI's controllers trumps all the others for me, personally.
Monocule, Joe Jury - Take Me Home will be my first song on flx4! I'm always listening to Hardstyle and get stuck in one genre, but one day I got to recognize the world has many more good things to hear and I found this track, omg it's speaking my heart, I found another aspect of my soul 😇
I am not that much into trance these days, but I'd play Lustral - Everytime (Nalin And Kane Mix) back from 1999 as a tribute to my love for electronic music. That track got me so hard back then so I switched to listening and enjoying electronic genres exclusively. I used to make my own techno and dnb tracks but I've never had a chance to try DJing. Thanks for the vid!
Thank you for another helpful video so i can finally decide what dj set i want to buy for the start. The first song i would play: Hotel room service - Pitbull.
The first tune I want to spin on this amazing Pioneer DDJ-FLX4 is, Safe (Joris Voorn Remix) -Joris Voorn & Monkey Safari, because tune has so many different layers perfect to use for loops, the new FX effects and will fill dance floor in a minute
I'd probably play Busta Rhymes Put ya hands where my eye can see" on the *FLX4* *Numark* *Party* *mix* doesn't have a shift button so the controls are limited to what you get. There's no secondary functions available. At least not from the controller. *Pioneer* *DDJ-200* doesn't have a dedicated effects section or a track browser The *Hercules* *Inpulse* *300* is what I would recommend for under 200.00 dollar USD *Reloop* *Buddy* - is a over *300* controller. Only 2 band EQ The *FLX4* is probably going to be the most wanted on this list. Works with Rekordbox and Serato and is basically a newer fresher faced version of the classic and super popular DDJ-400
I wish this video was around when I bought my first controller, the Traktor Kontrol S3! I did like it, but might have gone with a Pioneer unit given the insights from this review. That said, I now have an XDJ-XZ! Also: my intro song would be Manifest by Coco and Breezy. Thanks again for all the great info!
Just starting to learn to be a dj, trying to set my mind on a controller, your vids are super helpful !! The songs I wanna play the most are "Vois sur ton chemin" and "Lullaby" from Bennett, dj who's really super talented. And of course if I can win a controller I'll post some vids to show you !!
The first song I would play on my FLX4 controller would be: "More Than You Know - Axwell /\ Ingrosso" But there are so many that I want to play with all my heart! It will be amazing when that day comes! 😍
Definitely Where You Are by John Summit. Thanks for the super informative video! I just started, know absolutely nothing, and your channel has been super helpful.
Brill video Jamie. Glad to see this as an intro for young people or beginners and trying to bring people into the skill hobby. Music is really important. If you are just getting into DJing then streaming is a great option for the music. My recommendation is a ddj 200 or flx4 with Djay Pro and an apple music subscription, should be able to bag a 2 to 3 months sub for free. As you said though, great intro to the pioneer ecosystem especially with rekordbox too. I have a numark mixstream pro and am dumping it because of Tidals rip off £20pm for a sub. I'm gonna get my hands on a flx4 and use my iPad with Djay pro. Would love to win your flx4 and I would play San transciso punchanella. Ive owened controllers from all manufacturers mentioned, and used to love traktor. Always go back to pioneer and Djay is becoming so powerful.
I have the ddj 200 and the software is amazing, but the lack of buttons makes it harder to use (looping, song select, effects etc are all in the software and not on the controller) I know I'm not gonna win, but I would play Formula by DJ Visage :)
Went to a birthday party last weekend And the dj was packing up to leave. My friend had a speaker in there basement and I played a song and the people instantly started singing when the lyrics started. The DJ made joke saying “you tryna battle with me?” I laughed and told him “no sir, I’m not a DJ” he said “you could be. Song selection and reading the crowd are key in being a DJ.” we spoke for a while I helped him bring out his equipment and now I’m looking up dj equipment lol. So the first song I would play is the song I played that night “between me and you” by ja rule and Christina milian.
The Numark's are underrated the Mixtrack Platinum FX has been great for me. Although I would like to have USB-C ports and more flexibility that the newer FLX4 provides. Nonetheless, the LCD's for under 300 is a nice touch on the Platinum FX, and the FX pad switches.
Would love that FLX-4!! First song I'd play would definitely be Ferarri, and piece of your heart. Basic I know, but I would love to DJ at clubs and bars for college students since I'm one myself!
Great Video!!! I have been using a laptop with a mixer for a while now, and i want to start learning to beatmatch, looping, etc.... the song i would play is jukebox hero by foreigner
I would play my own tune "Never Leave" since it has a great opening sound scape! I'm getting back into DJing after selling all of my gear years ago and would love to win this bit of kit
Thanks, Jamie! Highly informative. I’ve been debating btwn the FLX-4 or 200 as a more portable option for my XZ, which is cumbersome for outdoor use. Anyways, first track: “Bobbie and Whitney” by Kraak n’ Smaak
I would play "Different Side" by Michael Bibi. Winning this would be so epic! Such a great video! Thank you for the information. I just started learning to produce and mix music and I was currently looking at buying the DDJ-FLX6 or the DDJ-FLX4. Glad to hear the good feedback from you.
First song would have to be the 12" version of Let's Go Crazy by Prince, always gets the party started, and because the intro has no beat, it can be faded in whatever the warm-up DJ's been playing :D
Cannot believe you didn't look at the Roland 202 absolute quality bit of kit looks like your marketing for Pioneer have had both the 202 wins hands down and has a Roland drum machine built in.
My first song would definitely be Get Right by Jennifer Lopez which would transition into 1 Thing by Amerie. 100 percent sure this is exactly what would happen lol.
Really helpful video as most are about controllers like the ddj flx4 but this mentions way more. My first Song would be Obsessed with you by Central Cee
My first controller was a ddj400 and now I use a ddj1000 rekordbox if I win the controller I would play BRING IN THE KATZ by kw Griff it's a baltimore club track really worth checking out it's a banger 👌
If I would win, I would play lots of tracks on it but I would start with Henry Krinkle - Stay, just to make people confortable to the rythm and then slowly I would raise the bpm and the energy of the venue
Great advice guide. My first track would be the recently released track: Delirious by Leftwing: Kody & Raphi. Its high energy, got a throw back stab thrown in and soulful lyrics. 👍
First song would probably be, just to get things going: deadmau5 - Quezacotl A bit unusual, I know, and yes it's apparently written that way. (also not yet released)
Loved the video! I am using Hercules DJ Control Inpulse 200 for a few years now, and I've been learning more and more and now I feel limited by my gear. Sometimes at parties I find myself using my touchpad to help me do some transitions or using effects... I've been thinking to buy a new controller before going to the "Big Leagues" type of gear and I am currently undecised between Hercules DJ Control Inpulse 500 (i'll probably buy this one) and DDJ FLX 4. That's someting that I need to consider. But I wouldn't mind receiving the DDJ-FLX4 from you :p so the song that I would play first would be "Shaboozey - A Bar Song (Tipsy) [Alesso Remix]" that has been on my mind the last couple of days! :D
My first song would probably be « Ye - Burna Boy » simple choice but I found it to be an amazing intro song for Afrobeats mixes (which is the genre I mix most of the time)
The DDJ-FLX4 controller would be great to have. The first song I would break it in with is Street Player (Remastered) version by a group called Chicago.
Left a response that may have been removed (included a link? My bad if so, didn't know!) but yes my first song would have to be Tell Me Why by Supermode and 1991
I have the Rev1 As a super beginner. No knowledge. Its overwhelming . I fail to understand the laptop and how it works for the controller . P.S love you guys ! “ STORYTIME “
I think right now, given the recent passing of Paul Spencer, and that I played those tracks over and over as a teenager, it would have to be Sunchyme by Dario G as the first play on the FLX4.

I like the last one that you showed first song I will play is That's the Way Love is by 10 City Paradise garage classic
I'd definitely play organize by Asake. Afrobeats/amapiano is such a vibe!!
Wise choices presented here, great video. The first song I'd play on this controller would be Freed From Desire by Gala
First track I would play is Simon Doty - Thinkin. Dope remix of a timeless classic!
I played first song Numb - Elderbrook. Wow! Such an amazing song.
Jaydee's Plastic Dreams - first track I played on a friend's Technics back in 93. An immense tune so ideal to test the FLX4.
I'd be playing Access by DJ Tim & DJ Misjah first. That tune is indelibly linked to a summer of festivals and warehouse parties for me. Banger.
I’m gonna play Contrast by Alignment definitely, so inviting!
Good luck to everyone, too!
First track would be Camelphat & Elderbrook - Cola. I don't know, its dark melodic vibe gets me every time....
As an intro song, my first song would be 'Move Your Body - Marshall Jefferson'. To let a crowd know DJ Benji B-Side is in the HOUSE!! 😁
Loved the video! Need an upgrade, so for the first song, I think I would go with "ARGY - Tataki" 👌
I would play my own tune "Never Leave" since it has a great opening sound scape! I'm getting back into DJing after selling all of my gear years ago and would love to win this bit of kit
Definitely Boom Boom Boom, Timmy and Tweekaz. To get the party jumping and shouting!! 🔥
Great video!!
First song I would play on the FLX4 would be "You and I - Medina, deadmau5 remix" 👌
Thanks, Jamie! Highly informative. I’ve been debating btwn the FLX-4 or 200 as a more portable option for my XZ, which is cumbersome for outdoor use.
Anyways, first track: “Bobbie and Whitney” by Kraak n’ Smaak
First thing that comes in my mind that i would play with the FLX4 is Sihlouette by Goldroom 🔥 just always brings that nice beach party vibe 👌
First song would probably be Sunshine of Your Wub by Yookie because my son loves that song.
My first Song to be played on the controller would be Chris Kirk - Eternity. A Great Start for a fine Psytrance Set
My first song, that I actually played on the FLX4 was David Guetta & SIA - Titanium. Great stuff, guys!
First song... "It's Time" by Al-naafysh. Yup taking it back waking up the crowd right from the start.
I would play probably Thomas Schumacher - tainted schall
I love that song it's an all time classic ❤
Really helpful video as most are about controllers like the ddj flx4 but this mentions way more.
My first Song would be Obsessed with you by Central Cee
I think theFirst song I would play on the DDJ FLX4 would be Fatboy Slim "Role Model", sounds really great.
the first song I would play on the pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX4 would be JULIETOTA - Latin Mafia, thank you for the video.
Amazing video! Definitely answered a lot of my questions! The first song I'd play would be "Mr Brightside"!
My first controller was a ddj400 and now I use a ddj1000 rekordbox if I win the controller I would play BRING IN THE KATZ by kw Griff it's a baltimore club track really worth checking out it's a banger 👌
Such an amazing controller! I would play "In My Arms" - Purple Disco Machine.
i will play million dollar bay on the DDJ FLX4 , that will be my 1st track, good jam!
Don’t you worry child - not a favourite anymore but used to be my absolute tune when I was a kid :)
First song would probably be, just to get things going: deadmau5 - Quezacotl
A bit unusual, I know, and yes it's apparently written that way. (also not yet released)
TIDAL WAVE - Sub Focus,Alpines Great content! Thank you for helping me start
I would play the track that defined the moment I wanted to be a DJ , New Order - Blue Monday B-side The Beach
Awesome video. I'd play Go Back - John Summit, Subfocus, Julia Church
Will record and post my first set using flex 4 at Pirate Studio LA and the first song will be "High Note - by K Motionz and Emily Makis"
My first song would probably be « Ye - Burna Boy » simple choice but I found it to be an amazing intro song for Afrobeats mixes (which is the genre I mix most of the time)
I'm new to DJ and J-POP nerd, but first song that fascinated to DJ world was Avicii-Waiting for love! So that might be my first song to play!
The DDJ-FLX4 controller would be great to have. The first song I would break it in with is Street Player (Remastered) version by a group called Chicago.
First song at the moment would be „Vandalist“ by Noga Erez. Can’t go wrong with a nice Busta Rhymes sample.
Working on some DnB mixing, so definitely playing some Sub Focus!
Great content as usual, my first choice would be Kings of Tomorrow - Finally
First song on the DDJ-FLX4 would be a mix of Summertime in the LBC.
I would play “Castro - Dale” which is my own song and my personal favorite!!!
Left a response that may have been removed (included a link? My bad if so, didn't know!) but yes my first song would have to be Tell Me Why by Supermode and 1991
The first song I would play would be Sientelo by Camo & Krooked. Absolutely insane 🔥
Thank you! This helped me so much! ❤
I have the Rev1
As a super beginner. No knowledge. Its overwhelming .
I fail to understand the laptop and how it works for the controller .
P.S love you guys !
“ STORYTIME “
My first song i'll play in the ddj flx4 will be "Laserbeam" by Ray Volpe, that means so much for me as a Dubstep fan 🙏🔥🤟
I play "Everbody get down" from jay Lumen, i love techno and this tune is a banger 🎉
I think right now, given the recent passing of Paul Spencer, and that I played those tracks over and over as a teenager, it would have to be Sunchyme by Dario G as the first play on the FLX4.
