The fact that you actually went around the equipment as well showing the ports and connections was a great touch. Not everybody does this.
Big plus points!
Aww thanks! I could imagine a beginner getting the main hardwares and then not knowing how to put it together. Getting the right cable can be a mission 😅
Yup!! Same equipment I bought
Very clear, concise , and comprehensive beginner with no experience just playlist experience, and this was THEE video I needed!
Love this, informative and funny at the same time. Your humour and posative energy on stream and UA-cam is ace
Thanks so much Mike! Appreciate that 🥰
Thank you! Complete beginner here and this info was very helpful. Cheers!
I've been looking at starter gear, and this is a really useful look at the FLX4. Good stuff, Becky!
Honestly it's a crazy good controller!
Great video. Informative and helpful for everyone wanting to get into dj-ing.
Thanks so much 😁
Hey this was an awesome video. 😄
Thank you so much!! I had bought the controller previously and this video help me to complete my setup, i got the speakers and cables.
Awesome stuff!
GREAT content.. I like all the videos!!! Good teacher.. because you explain things clearly...
Wonderful to hear! Glad you find them helpful
lovely!!!!
That smart fader is such a powerfull piece of tech! Very impressive!
Yeah it gives the redundant crossfader a new lease of life!!
Impressive how you made it look easy and at the same time it's a fun way to teach us. Will look for more content of yours 🤩
Aww thank you! I had a lot of fun making this video
This is the perfect video for me, it is genuinely something i've always wanted to learn to do. Thanks for sharing. Bad man lol
Glad I could help! Badman 😎
Great explanations! Fun!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow liking this, will be getting back into djing great video
Awesome!!!
Aww you spoke to my younger self in this video - not really looking to DJ but get back into music production as a hobby.
🥰🥰 creativity is key!
Thank you!
You're welcome ❤❤
omg video never knew i needed
😏
I have it, you are absolutely right ❤
❤❤
Great little vid and brings together what i usually recommend to beginners as well. Working on music / DJing / production courses with beginners at the Lisa Lashes School Of Music currently, so i'll pass this video around to each new course rather than just throwing a bunch of brand names & model numbers at them 😁 Great to see you doing your thing on here and passing on your talents & knowledge to others.
Tony BTB (aka Mainline 😎👋🏼)
Aww thanks so much mate!! That means a lot. 🥰🥰
im having fun with a denon dnhs5500 at the moment and its still cool for an old bit of kit :)
Nice, I have an flx4 and currently use headphones to mix. Looking to get some rokit 5s soon!
Nice!
im getting into ableton so im just diggin thru passing by!
its smart fader feat was sick..
KRK are solid
Yeah this is a perfect beginner setup!
Great tips! Also, if you pair the FLX4 with any of the DM-series speakers, there is DSP control to make it sound more "clubby" for when DJing on them.
Mmmmmm dsp!!!
Hi Becky,
I just found you channel and subscribed. I've always had a passion for electronic music and hope one day to be able to DJ. Your videos have given me hope to one day reach this goal. I would love to bang out some rave tunes and dance all night like back in the days of the early rave scene, 1989+.
Peace, Love. AB. ♥️
Awww lovely to hear. Thank you so much for the sub! Let's reignite that passion 😁
Great work on this video!! Can you tell me about where you got the desk? It looks ideal for this setup
I'd love to help here but I bought this desk 8 years ago and can't remember 🤣
Hi love your content can you recommend a lap top or pc to ad to my beginner set up
Switched from kontrol s2 mk3 to the flx4 a couple of weeks ago - infinitely better and works amazingly well with algoriddim dj pro on the iPad (fully integration and full mapping; just plug and play)
Great video, speakers is next on my list (Bose soundlink micro not exactly getting the crowd jumping in my lounge 😂)
Hahaha Bose Soundlink crew !! 😎😎 Pleased to hear you're happier with the FLX4.
Nice, actually this is the controller that I bought my son. Let's see how long he'll use it for.....I like that you talk about monitors and the cable you need to go from RCA to XLR. I feel this may help beginners from hooking up to their home stereo system. 😁
Nice!!! I hope he enjoys it. I can't believe the features available for the price. It's insane. Getting the cable right is half the battle 🤣
Sup Becky :) Merry Xmas! Please could you do a tutorial on making a DnB mix in Ableton? Wishing you and yours a very merry xmas and a happy, healthy, prosperous and creative 2024! Ste/Echelon x
Merry Christmas to you! You mean as a live performance or as a workaround for putting a mix together without having to perform the tunes?
@@BeckySaifMusic Just for putting a mix together. i used to have my own decks about 20+ years ago. I've started learning how to make my own tunes (thank you for your awesome courses!) and it would be ace to try and make some mixes in Ableton :)
ciao sei brava
i take djing as a career should i get the flx6 gt over the flx4
Any recommendations for a budget laptop that will only be used for this
"male bits" 🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha the male bits go into the female bits 😋
I want to start to dj rap music for concerts and clubs.
Can you do a video of the you showing us how you use of buttons on the flx 400
I have a DJ Course for beginners, that's probably the best place for learning about the buttons. Link in the description 😊
What is the best software to use then? Really good and helpful video ❤ I'm just a beginner and try to see how far I can go 😅
Rekordbox or Serato I'd say :)
i ma dj for now and then i have ddj sb3 and then i can upgrade to ddj flx6 gt and i love 4 channel is best
4 channel definitely helps for certain styles of music!
Great Vid. Regarding the headset Sennheiser HD25 is this the light version?
No they aren't. They're the one with the split headband :)
@@BeckySaifMusic Thank you for replying x
Hey there , i really looked forward your opinion for the beginner dj guide and it help me alot ,but yet being bored of using 2 channel mixer im switching to a 4 channel one , cause it cause hurdle to have limited space so , can u suggest me a new and better 4 channel mixer of your prefrence.
I haven't personally taken a look at the 4 channel controllers in this price range. I can recommend the XDJ-XZ and the FLX10 though. 😊😊
Hey Becky. Hope you're well. Amazing video as always! I can't believe how cheap this Pioneer controller actually is at around £279 😳. I don't know if I could ever go to controllers as I like the fact I can throw CDs, and flashsticks or plug a computer into my CDJs while at the same time having it plugged into my amp and decent sized speakers if I want to crank it up loud. What I didn't understand in the description for them is it expecting you already have Rekordbox as it says if you have it on your phone (which on phones is free) so is it like trying to palm off people with a freebie version or does it come with the proper Rekordbox you get with their CDJs which is obviously mostly the licence, or used to be years back?
Also I love how it says ever been clubbing and seen the DJ and thought that is easy so learn how to do it on them, as I can see the day people doing that getting a club decked out with the older CDJs and their faces going white infront of a crowd when they realise there's no sync buttons or this smart fader gimic 😂! Just glad in a way I'm 42 and learnt in my early teens on 1210s as then you have no choice but to learn to beatmatch which was awesome really as its easier to go across to CDJs from vinyl than the other way! Its funny as everytime I'm spinning the Decks whether be a gig or just a mess around one of the first buttons I go for is to put them on vinyl mode for some reason 🤷🏻♂️😂! Keep up the Amazing work and Awesome videos 😊🎧
Forgot to say I use the HD25's for my DJing and Production and swear by them. There's just something about them that's absolutely spot on for spinning or making my Uplifting Trance!
Its insanely priced for the features available. I just downloaded Rekordbox onto my laptop and everything worked. Definitely worth having one of these controllers for a quick party or gig. It was really light as well. I remember the days dragging records to gigs - my back was ruined! 😅 so glad it's just a usb or controller now.
@BeckySaifMusic Yes I can remember those days of taking every vinyl including all the white labels on top and the bouncers helping me up the stairs with all the boxes of them all 😂
And now to the next thing thats a huge Step for Beginners. Where to get your music from that you wanna mix
I get my music from a combination of beatport, bandcamp, soundcloud and it being sent to me directly usually
Can't go wrong with those KRKs!
Yeahhhh boii! They really do stand the test of time
How heavy is the software to run? Just to know if any laptop will do or if you need some good CPU grunt. Also shouldn't you need a DAC and Amp since the built in sound cards for most motherboards, especially laptops, is really terrible.
I'm not sure on how heavy the software is to run. It wasn't eating my laptop memory but my laptop is pretty high spec and new. Best to check online for that. As for the amp, the KRK speakers are powered and you have a gain control on the controller. There is an option to connect to an audio interface first from the conctroller and then to the speakers but it depends on how much control you're after and whether you're looking for a stronger, balanced cable signal with an XLR to XLR connection rather than RCA to XLR.
@@BeckySaifMusic Thx for the reply! Can the controller be used to pass sound through from a PC, for example if I'm just watching a movie or something, or is that ineffecient having it run on idle?
Just curious since starting out, this equipment needs to be multi functional, since a good pair of speakers shouldn't go to waste, and could be used for other purposes.
😊
😁
Is there any point of buying speakers if you DJ from an apartment and can't make too much noise due to neighbor concerns?
you can DJ in your headphones - I do that a lot on my Twitch stream
@@BeckySaifMusic thanks that’s what I figured 👌
Where is that stand from?
Oh I cant remember now. Its just a laptop stand
Hi, how about ddj 200?
doesn't have the beat fx or loop in outs - worth spending a little extra to have those functions
Thx, I got the FLX4 :)
IDK if it's just me, but when I click on the e-book link in your videos, it takes me to a malware site.
I will take a look at that. Thank you for highlighting it
You don't need a laptop if you own a PC. Not unless you don't want to take it to do gigs, but to learn on any PC with the recommended specs is fine...
Laptop or Desktop, PC or Mac... just a computer. You can also use a tablet.
Thank you captain obvious lol 😂
@@Baron.of.Brigadoon He said you NEED it... lol, and my name is John Madden... TY
