    The fact that this game is hard makes it so beautiful. Every match is different, there is so much to learn and explore, and that's why it never gets boring. I've been playing T7 since release and I only learned 2 characters during all this time simply because it takes so long. So there's like 38 other characters left I still need to learn. This keeps me motivated and ensures many more years without getting bored. That's why Tekken is one of the best games ever!

    1:57 'What happens if I hold back? Heihachi retreats like a person of his age.' This cracked me up so hard. Sad truth is, not just him, every character retreat like Heihachi's age. I hate it so much, just the visual aspect of it. Look at how badass Negan does his walk back. Can't they give a unique, better looking walk to every character?

    The complexity is what makes tekken so incredibly interesting though. It's like an endless journey, which is why you keep staying interested in it. The journey is the fun part of learning anything, and when the journey ends, you move on to the next thing. So please don't make tekken easier namco lol

  • @Tobi_237

    Very interesting concept indeed. But the very depth of knowledge required to excel at this game is what makes the game so dang awesome. The fact that no 2 matchups are ever the same makes for fantastic replayability. Not to mention the brilliant and intuitive gameplay mechanics (RD and screws a such cool mechanics). Tekken 7’s gameplay is by far the best in the series so far. They’ve managed to find the perfect balance across the board.

    • @bleachcool1465
      @bleachcool1465 5 років тому +4

      Tob 23i7 yeah it’s all well and good until you go online and have to constantly play 3 bars (and lower) and constantly experience frame drops and dsyncs. On top of that if you’re a new player and don’t play LC, Eddie, Katerina, Bears, etc the game becomes virtually unplayable because there’s no baseline online experience. The fact that there is no tutorial only amplifies these problems exponentially. This all on console btw, I know PC is a way better experience.

      Tekken is a difficult game, true..
      But you guys are exaggerating..
      After playing Virtua Fighter 5FS i realised that Tekken compared to VF is a cake walk...
      In Virtua fighter there are many different combos for all of the characters..
      - left foot/right foot stance
      - fuzzy guard at -3
      - fuzzy guard at -5
      - sideturned game after successful stepping, sometimes u get 3 extra frames, sometimes 6, depending on the power of the moves
      - special rule in which attacks always beat throws, doesn't matter at what frame disadvantage you are
      Etc etc etc
      Believe me, Tekken is not that difficult as some think

    • @Tobi_237
      @Tobi_237 5 років тому +4

      Kain 1 Lol well stick to VF then. No one made that comparison, but to up and say we’re exaggerating is pretty bogus in my opinion. I don’t know VF I’ll give you that, never have (never will) lol. But please leave the conversation to those of us who only play Tekken among other fighting games. You just sound like an elitist right now lol

      @@Tobi_237 Tekken has been my fav fighting game ever since T2, I do play Tekken and will keep doing so..
      but doesn't mean that i should behave like a fanboy, i'm going to express my opinion if there is something I don't like..
      - Movement in Tekken t7 got nerfed so is the execution (Paul demo man, drag WR2 pick up combo)
      - T7 has easy to play chars: Claudio, kata, noctis to make the game more acceptable to new players
      - The characters lost personality, Kazuya had 7 wins poses in t6, now he has two...
      Harada has appealed to casuals and to me, t7 is defo not the best tekken game...

    • @Tobi_237

      Kain 1 Very well then, your opinion of the game is exactly that, YOUR opinion. Sure I too hate the brain dead characters that are so easy to pick up and get good with, but after a while you begin to see the flaws in these characters’ designs and as a Raven loyalist I eventually got the better of their cheap moves. I never liked T6 or TTT2 so my opinion vastly differs to yours. T5 was my last Tekken really and my second favourite after 7 (T3 being my first ever Tekken and now my 3rd favorite😅) And I agree the story and overall content of T7 is below standard, the GAMEPLAY is just awesome in my opinion and that is what really matters.

    I'll keep it short and concise for improvement.
    1.) Learn how to block hell sweeps (Combos that start with a slow low attack that are easily converted into a launch) Trust me when I say this can single handedly give you wins most hell sweeps are launch punishable learn your punish options from getting out of crouch (while standing moves).
    2.) Experiment as you fight new matchups if you don't experiment and are constantly getting hit by a particular string or move it's better to get hit while gathering information. Aka mix in crouching in your defense and see what moves you can duck.
    3.) Learn basic punishment so if someone uses a move that you think has a lot of recovery time use your shortest punishers and build it up from there.
    4.) Don't forget how to enjoy the game it's pretty complicated and although I hover around yellow I've stolen some rounds from people significantly better than I am and the same can happen to you. Everyone's human we make mistakes laugh at them and you'll get better quicker with a positive outlook.

  • @durdukyeretahrik
    @durdukyeretahrik 5 років тому +11

    I don't think the number of moves is a huge problem. Most players don't even use half of their movelist. The problem is that many moves have specific or even weird properties that makes them hard to understand and deal with, like crushing properties, variable pushback, highs that look like mids, mids that look like highs, moves that have to stepped/walked or backdashed (two things only advanced players can do) etc. Just look at Noctis who has a quite compact move list filled with very unusual and annoying moves like d/b+1+2, f+2 or d/b+2.

    Very informative video and great advice as always from the sage of tekken, the main man. But...I would have to disagree with you on your thoughts about simplifying the KBD for T8. This is first tekken since 3, I’m a green rank Feng and I’m barely getting the kbd to work. It took me a good while and I think that’s a part of earning your stripes for this game. If I wanted something easy I’d play dbfz with their auto combos.

    If Harada only sees one video from you, this should be it. KBD is one of the main reasons that separates the casuals from "pros". As they dont want to spend countless hours just to learn movement they just drop the game.
    It could stay, and kept as a superior version but normal backdash needs a speed buff IMO

    • @2000Doriyas
      @2000Doriyas 5 років тому +5

      Just a slight buff to normal backdashing would make it feel so much more fun, it’s not like you couldn’t still quickly catch up and hit someone dashing anyway.

    • @imienazvvisko
      @imienazvvisko 5 років тому +3

      Its not a thing that differs. People with good backdash can still suck balls. I can KBD all day long since Tekken Tag on PS2 (using wavedash method, gladly i dont play sway character, in fact most of oldachool mishima players can KBD like crazy) but i still get my ass handed to me by stupid flowcharts of for example 3bar Lili due to lag, my poor Lili knowledge and things that are something new for me like moves that absorb damage or walls where i have no idea what to do. You can enjoy this game dont knowing thing about framedata just mashing buttons, and you can enjoy it if you are insanely good. But this game makes people suffer on level that is between those two. Like playing musical instrument - you only have fun when you dont know what you are doing, or dont have to think about what you are doing. When you think hard about things that you do - you suffer.

    Kbd should stay, screw the mash back idea that’s completely retarded. The reason that even exists is because you can cancel any movement into any movement which is why mashing back one direction doesn’t work. Learning to kbd isn’t hard at all, it takes a couple mins to learn and get it consistent. Over time it will evolve and you’ll do it better and better. This game is already helping casuals with Nocbitch, Katarina, Rage Arts, etc. (Rage Drives I’m fine with cause some leave you with a combo after which can take execution and some award reads like King catching left or right roll on ground for harder knockdown) so keep Tekken how it’s been for years. It’s always been hard and movement has never changed, don’t let these sudden newcomers destroy the franchise and destroy Tekken’s identity when it’s been fine the way it was for years

    • @chevychelios4672

    To be fair all fighting games have that element of sometimes the lesser player wins. Fighting games lean heavily on two things, the turn based nature of frame data and the RPS mind game. The executional hurdle tends to be just a hurdle and has been getting smaller. You can't really make up for your lack of matchup knowledge with execution. There's no out just-framing anyone like how you can out micro or out aim someone in other games. A good player could lose some FT2 sets vs a worse player when he would never lose a FT10 set.

    3) Soul Caliber= The 3rd hardest fighting game = The 8 way run makes movement very fluid and open. The movement makes probably the most sense in 3d space. The execution is not too hard...yes there are just frames for certain characters. VF and SC could be argued which is harder...

      I think this skill is such a huge thing because in competitive play, most players play side by side. They can see which button is hit, that's when kbd takes place to whiff punish then just full combo opponent.
      It makes the game boring to watch.
      That's why lilmajin is hype to watch. He actually takes the advantages of movelist, not just kbd, he jaguar step and using big frame data movelist to offend opponent.
      Same with Arslan who plays so sticky to chip opponent's hp while still punishing opponent's wrong move.
      Or Rangchu who plays so bold that whenever the opponent is within Panda's range, he will make sure they will eat Panda's attacks.
