A do-it-yourself DIY washing machine repair for the kenmore HE5t washer. This can easily be done and save you a few hundred dollars of calling in a technician.
glad it worked for you….just reminded me that I need to clean out mine again. have a great week. thanks for commenting! Please subscribe to support my channel. Thanks!
I had a pillow explode in the washer. Filled it with zillions of pieces of shredded foam. I scooped & vac’d as many as I could but wound up with a big packed wad in the trap. Thanks for making it easy to fix the problem!
I totally owe you! This saved a service call and more importantly some household angst. I under estimated the flood cleanup. But still you’re the best!
Easy fix. Thanks for the tip. F21 and SudS errors. 16 years of random garbage removed from the filter trap: Lego pieces, buttons, snaps, beads, and a kid's mitten.
Thank you for posting this on UA-cam. I was able to fix my washer...it did have 11 cents in it, there's the saying you can't launder money...lol guess not. But aside from that, there were too many suds in the washer. I am using HE detergent, but put a booster in there also, and that must of caused some of the problem. So ONLY US HE DETERGENT! Thanks again for your help.
Followed your procedure and got our washer working again. Unbelievable, I found a sock in the filter. Thanks a great deal, your video was absolutely helpful!
Thank you for the video, our washer has done this before and it cost us a sears service call to fix, and he did exactly like the video shown did. My husband couldn't remember exactly where to fix the stoppage so I googled it and found your video. It was a great help.
Many thanks Danny for the great tip! This fixed my exact problem ! I wish I took the time to put in a bucket before twisting off that cap but luckily it was in my garage! At least 2 gallons came out !😅
Thank you Bro, this is the kind of video that makes the world a better place. Saved me a service call and repair fee. You are awesome, thanks a million. Still have cash for my 10 year old sons birthday. Just like you said, that easy. Two nickels, jewelry, hair, popsicle stick. FIXED
Thank you for making and sharing this video! My washer was giving me the same error and I fixed it in about 30 minutes using these instructions. Thanks again!
Thank you thank you! So much gunk from the previous owner, now all cleared out! I'll reiterate what someone else said, there are 3 star screws in the bottom of mine, and there are less threads than you think in the drain cover so unscrew carefully! I had the shopvac so I avoided flooding my whole basement, but it was a hectic few minutes dealing with the water. We were so frustrated and now it all works perfectly. Thank you thank you!
+Thaddaeus Groat so glad the video helped out. I found out that next time this happened, I'll need a bigger capacity shopvac for the job. Can be a lot of water depending on the cycle that the machine stopped at.
thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I just saved over 100 in a repair man or 700 in buying a new washer with your video! I didn't know it was so easy to get it done.
wow, that was so easy and totally fixed my problem. That thing was sooo full of gross stuff. It was a little hard to find the screws and a star tipped bit to get them off. but all in all took less than 10 mins to fix! Thank you!
Fantastic video and worked to perfection! Saved me from calling repair person. FYI. Make sure you put a pan that covers the entire width of your washer. I used a half cooking sheet and water everywhere:)
This was the exact problem I had as I was getting a sud and F21 error. My trap was clogged. Thanks for the video it fixed my issue and saved a service call. Great idea using the shop vac!
Thanks for posting this. Once again, we have saved the price of a service call by Googling on the UA-cam, as David Letterman might have put it. Our drain basket was packed solid with a matrix of slimy lint, filled with items like: a glow stick, an ink pen, two pencils, several coins, a bolt (where did that come from?), and some unidentifiable items that are better off left unidentified. Kind of like a smelly fruitcake. I find it hard to believe that this isn't a consumer-accessible item on all washers, since it clearly needs to be cleaned out occasionally.
+Marissa Carcioppolo that’s awesome to hear. This is the main reason why do these DIY videos...to help people realize they can do this stuff common things themselves.
Thank you!!! After cleaning out everything possible to rid the F21 Code we found this video!! OMG it was clogged up! Where does all of that come from??? Thank you so much!
Ya, when I first cleaned out ours, i had the same reaction. Hair ties, hair clips, etc. Glad the video helped. Thank you for commenting. Have a great rest of the weekend.
Awesome! Exactly what we needed to know. (I assumed I was going to have to muscle out washer to access parts from the back... like the 1980's Lol ) Thanks for posting the video!
Okay so..our washer has displayed the f21 and sud errors a few times. we learned of this trick before coming to your video, but now our washer will NOT POWER ON at all! We have tried disconnecting and reconnecting EVERY wire possible, and made sure of secure connections. we have run diagnostics a few times, the only error code it gives us is f21... so my question is will this cause my washer to lose all power if it needs to be replaced?? and any suggestions to get it to start working again?? I have a kenmore elite he5t steam washer. please help!!
Check out the drain tube. It should be going to the drain pipe or sometimes connected to a nearby laundry room sink. Check to see if there are any kinks in the rubber tube and make sure it has not clogged the drain. You can also check the rubber padding around the doorway. There might have been a piece of clothing that got stuck there.
@@DDIY-Guy Hello Danny, did all that what I have noticed is at the end of cycle the water does not full drain from Washer leaving excess water so when running back to back wash the Sud error appears and the rest is history
there must be a back up somewhere in your drainage. did you check the filter at the bottom? when you open that up, maybe take a shopvac/wet vac and try and suck out an access materials from it…. same with your drainage hose.
You rock! That was the simplest and most efficient way to get to the problem and fix it!!!! 95$ saved:). Agree with Kris B.
So glad it worked for you!! Thank you for taking the time to comment. Have a great rest of the weekend.
This absolutely worked! There was a LOT of gunk and junk in that trap. Thank you!

Hello, I tried following the video but when I reconnected my machine, breaker tripped. Any advice on how to fix it?
Check out the drain tube. It should be going to the drain pipe or sometimes connected to a nearby laundry room sink. Check to see if there are any kinks in the rubber tube and make sure it has not clogged the drain. You can also check the rubber padding around the doorway. There might have been a piece of clothing that got stuck there.
Replaced the sensor and New water pump and the error code reappeared what do you recommend
check you drainage hose and make sure it doesn’t have any kinks. the hose is usually attached to the drainage under your sink.

I idid it and the F21 comes up, i cleaned the drain hose and checked the drain all clear.
thanks alot man!!
I dont have a panel on the bottom
Which model do you have?
What size screwdriver?
Screwdriver for which part?
@@DDIY-Guy to undo the screws on the bottom of the machine
They are hex screws but not sure what size....they are pretty small..maybe a 1/4 inch head.
Do you know what Hf error means ?
I did cup of Vinegar and it works, Thanks again for your post it was full of junk.
There are three screws
the code is still on
I used the shop vac on the tube that drains the water into the sink and it worked
