This video series has taught me two things 1) a Porsche 911 is wayyyy out of budget and 2) I love the filming style of these videos not a dull moment. Easily favorite car YT channel!
Love love love this series Strad. With your work environment and culture, you have the ability to go crazy, but you keep it the way you do which is relatable to all of us. Thanks for the content. I know myself and many other do.
glad ur putting a porsche engine back in her. you won't regret it. by the time you break in the engine with a few hundred miles you'll learn why they are awesome cars
just a suggestion from other channels i follow, when doing a build "series" such as this one, label them with part 1, 2, 3...so on as you continue the build. makes it easier to follow for new people finding your channel. I suggested your channel to Life of Palos so hopefully that will bring you some more exposure if he features it in one of his evening news updates. so far, the videography, comedy, and general overall therapeutic nature of what you guys do is quite entertaining. Keep it up!!
I would do anything just to come work for you man, came across this channel today to realize this is everything i've ever wanted to do yet I never had the resources available. I am a very quick learner, and my drive runs true compared to others. I hope this doesn't go unnoticed. I'm 19 from Indiana but I can make the commute 100.9%
If the shroud on the intercooler was loose they likely had an aftermarket intercooler in there that required some trimming for installation. And when they reinstalled the stock ones they were unable to get stock shrouds for both sides. You already went do88 big pack intercoolers which are a great option for the price. I nearly went with them myself. I ended going with Markski after a discussion about what cores he uses. Personally I think Markski 4.5" intercoolers are the best option out there. Larger ypipe is beneficial for big power builds so good decision as well. Stock plenum and throttle body are good for 1000hp though.
Great series! Think your videos would be better if you added chapters within each video, and perhaps numbering the titles (e.g. 997 911T Episode 4) and the having the other videos in a playlist.
Well you did buy it in South Carolina, so being from SC myself, people list things that were supposedly done to cars all the time, and pass them off to someone else with no law against it
I grew up in Baltimore. I moved to Nebraska about 10 years ago. I knew from the moment you started talking that you were in Maryland. Made me kinda homesick.
Great video! Moving right along... Great progress! Those intercoolers are beasts! Great move there! Your saving yourself a ton of money with you're skills and know-how! 👍 Looking forward to the next vid! 🇺🇲
Stock deck lid is for sure better than that fiber glass one. With that bein said, right now, I couldnt afford the $1,000 ya paid for the lid let alone the dream of a hot rod aka "Your" 911 Turbro S! It's for sure my "somewhat affordable dream car". I'm only commenting for the tubes algorithm. Deck lid sucks but, the Turbro S is PIMP! Best of luck with it...
I have a question did you found out the problem of mixing of oil and antifreeze. Why you did change first the oil cooler and start with that ? Thank you hermann 4:28
Did you you code out the active aero using a foxwell, durametric pro, or pwis? Or did you use an adapter that tricks the car into thinking it's operating properly?
Would you recommend getting into this business? On a much smaller scale to start off of course and more as a side hustle? I am very interested and a reply would be much appreciated! Thanks.
@@scraplifegarage Completely understandable! I was going to get into flipping cars but it's a little hard to stay on top of it sometimes with all the other things I have happening
No acting, not needed, doesn’t work for the status of the shows. Your shows are great the way they are without acting. I am not being mean, I am telling you the truth. A complete-built engine sends chills down my spine. A 3.4L to 4.0L upgrade is like having a wooden beam in your pants. Shouting out before we know. Whatever the color for the exterior of the car is make sure that the roll cage is harmonious with the exterior. Why. Because the roll cage with the wrong color will take away all the details inside the car. Don’t paint the roll cage a color that makes the interior look like a circus clown owns the car. - Who doesn’t love polished aluminum and specular turbo connections pieces and big ass coolers. - Heating up the plastic to make it conform the metal; I’ll file that away in my brain storage. Summation I’ll never buy a water cooled Porsche car but I sure have enjoyed seeing how all of the 997 parts (and there was a shit load of them) come off and go on...and there are many more video on this 997. So I am here and enjoying. Keep continuing with what you do. PARTING THOUGHT You sure have a lot of birds in this neighborhood. Lots of chirping. No complaint, just an observation. .
I have 145k miles on my 997.1 turbo. Paid $42k for it OTD with a clean title in nearly mint condition with 102k miles on it at that time. I have only spent $10k on mods which includes upgraded turbos, intercoolers, exhaust, turbo intake tubes, tuning, wheels, semi solid motor mounts and repairs.
Dollars to donuts some unappreciated third tier forgotten Porsche engineer is watching this, and when you said "credit where it is due on this third brake light" about his contribution to that automobile he ran upstairs from his basement apartment in his parents house and in loud and aggressive German told his dad to eat a bratwurst because he made it. As far as what I didn't like, if your gonna be squatted down on the street like a poor working on a VW, at least show a little more thigh....
A CHEAP 997 Porsche 911 Turbo is allways junk, thats the reason why it is cheap. A well maintained 911 Turbo from a dentists wife is better, but it is not cheap.
"It's only money!" That beast is going to shred! Love the full rebuild/mod treatment.
“It’s only debt” would probably be more accurate

great choice of intercooler, I used d088 on mine along with the y-pipe could not be happier with the quality.

@LeeC - just drove past your original "garage" where it all started! You've definitely come a long way! 👍
I need to make it up there and do a video on the origins haha
I’ve noticed the extra P cars around. I just figured the sickness was getting to you. And the Vette’s will be phased out eventually!!! LOL.
The sickness has taken full hold.
Awesome videos… very informative on the Porsche 911
Lovin' this series!
Your uploads make my day
It makes my day to hear that! Seriously!
Nice progress, really enjoying the series.
While yas had the intercooler(s) out it would have been a greeaaaytt time to clean up the inter structure and the stock housing..

My man reppin' those hoochie daddy shorts! Love this series and can't wait to see the paint color you chose.
The longer the video the shorter the shorts. If you see me post an hour long video I highly suggest not watching.
On a different subject, why don't you remove quarter panels? I also see you get rid of good hoods and trunk lids. Why?
Thanks,

Digging the "Throttle House" style of intro!
Paint it that brown you like on the front bumper with some fluorescent green or orange cage pieces
I do like the brown, but man, I’m not gonna sugarcoat it. That sounds like a few god awful color combos you just layed out 😅
Been laid up with a knee injury for a few I believe I have watched every video. Good stuff.
Hope the videos help pass the time a bit!

Nailed it though 😉
