I commute through Bolton almost every day, and thought I'd have a walk around a couple of weeks ago. Sadly I think it's a pale reflection of what it was in its glory days. Bolton used to be the best town in the North West. Now its a ghost town, with the heart ripped out of it. Hopefully with the recent number of films and TV series using it as a filming location, there might be some hope for Bolton's future. I hope so.
@@wintershine7399 so many shops closed down. Prestons of Bolton, World of Leather. Things demolished like the old cinema/bingo hall, and just left to rot as wasteland for decades. Boarded up shops left to rot - like the Chinese Buffet which has been an empty shell for well over a decade. Recently a whole load of businesses which had been boarded up and now completely demolished on Deansgate. They've put a wooden barrier up around it, and I expect it to languish and become another boarded up wasteland right in the heart of Bolton. They got rid of the fountains which people loved. Many empty and boarded up public houses. Wasteland where the old college used to be. Wasteland on the opposite side too. Wasteland where World of Leather used to be - right up to the Alma Inn. Wasteland where the old bus station used to be. Loads of empty premises with To Let signs. It's very depressing. Everything is run down, drab, and decaying. You only have to compare it to Bury, which is bright and bustling. Bolton has had a long slow decline. You've probably not noticed, but most of the things I have mentioned have happened in the last 20 years. Nothing like the number of people visiting.
Always wanted to go to Bolton. Love the accent and the people seem to be cool. I’m going to head down from Glasgow one day and get a beer with the locals. 🏴 🏴 🇬🇧
Me too. It was without question the best town in the North West. It's been overtaken in the last few years by Bury, which has a better market, better entertainment, better shopping, and better transport links. The precinct in Bury is spotless and a lot less run down than Bolton.
No matter where i wander no matter where i roam ill always leave my heart in a place that i call home you can leave the lights of vegas and the planes of tennesee my little home in boltons where ill be no place in all the world like old bolton
Im bolton born and bred👍 yes years ago it was a busy thriving town, but then the council have tried to make it more modern and sadly its not worked, people are going now to shopping centres at middlebrook and only the old faithfull still shop in town centre. Its so sad to see what used to be a town centre so busy, now dead😢

Few Boltonians venture out on the streets when it's a sunny day, they prefer to go out when it's pouring down with rain. They come out in droves then and you can't move for them.
I remember it when it wasn't full of drugs and crackheads, and signs were not needed on the streets "What a put off for any visitors" regarding drugs, begging,and god knows what else,the old Bolton has long gone and so have the people .
Bolton is a northern city that lacks quality care for the elderly and as I am age 85 I know some carers are angels but not all carers are angels because they are working in the caring Industry to receive social benefits which means they are often one parent family.
Hi, would you say this is a multicultural place with asians? My partner and i are interested in moving there, and having a Filipino community is very important for us
@@callyodmedia2 Manchester is an amazing place,but don’t live near the dodgy areas like Hulme and some areas of Salford. Bolton is nice,but the town centre is getting made in a few years and right now it is all right,but not as good as bury’s and Manchester’s

Very multi cultural with Chinese, Thai, South Indians, africans etc.. not sure about fillipino community tho but it's a lovely welcoming town.

Not yet. Closest I've been to Rawtenstall so far is Blackburn. Hopefully next year, if things go to plan.
