Isn't it because women live longer?

Definitely a factor! Dr. Bredesen's team has found that the hormonal changes that tend to happen during and after Menopause are closely linked to cognitive health and function.

@@BrainHeal_th_ Thank you for your thoughtful response. I have also read about a connection with gum disease and alzheimer's. My mother suffered from bulimea then severe gum disease later in life; she passed in '18 from alz complications at only 79 years of age.
As an RN I am Not a fan of the "alzheimer's prolonging" medications. More money for the nursing homes, medical field, and hospices.

@@gigi9301 I am sorry to hear about your mother. I completely hear you, imagine if a fraction of all of that money went into funding more of these evidence-based studies - how much suffering could end and how much we could all benefit.
Dr. Bredesen's team has had many recent discoveries on oral health and cognitive health so you're highlighting a very important factor. Thanks!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that the ratio of women with Alzheimer's as opposed to men with Alzheimer's is just about the same as the ratio of women who are vegans/vegetarians as opposed to men who are vegans/vegetarians. It's the women's hi carb/lo fat diets that are a major cause. Of course, I could be wrong.

Currently, about 67% of all Alzheimer's patients are women. Suboptimal hormonal balance, typically seen around the time of menopause, seems to be a major contributing factor. I believe you are touching on something important, as women tend to need healthy fats/cholesterol a little bit more than men for appropriate hormone production. Thanks!
