An amazing album, easily my favorite Black Metal release. The most incredible thing? Ivar was only 15 YEARS OLD when this was recorded, AND he wrote all the songs!
Jon Nødveidt- mastermind of Dissection was between 14 and 17 when he wrote most of music, lyrics and arrangements for Somberlaind, barely 19 when he made another masterpiece of album, but he got trapped in satanic evil shit, shame of his talent, killed a guy and spent 8 years in the jail. Then he reformed Dissection, but not with his old crew, he invited mediocre musicians but who were in satanic bullshit as well and made an album with two good songs, Reinkaos , other songs were mediocre at best. If he didn't kill that guy i think he would made many more awesome records and he would move away from his satanic beliefs and Dissection probably would be one of the most influential bands with much more to offer
5:51 - 7:25. I just listened to this passage just woke up still in bed and I felt a pleasure throughout my body, with this music you don't need drugs to freak out or travel/trip. Really, too much exquisite haha

Oystein really helped these guys by waiting to put this on his Label! My favorite album by far! I do like some of the newer stuff but liked the Black Metal Enslaved much better! I wish they had of put this on vinyl back in the day, I had to spend alot of $$ for a CD just to add to my DLS collection!
awful vocals, the other instruments are ok, but very clean, this is the most sound-clean album of that year in that country i think, great production. 7/10, Dissection copycats.
I think you'll find Enslaved took inspiration from Burzum more so. If you listen to the first track it sounds much like Stemmen Fra Traanet. They arent copycats, I personally haven't heard anything like Heimdallr before.

This album is so good. A must have for all.
After more than 25 years of listening to this it's still feel like starting the best AD&D or M.A.G.U.S. adventure of your life

A true classic. Not really digging their later stuff, but this, Hordane's Land, and Frost are fantastic.

And they didn't release "Reinkaos", so...bonus points for them.
