- The goal of SpaceX is to build the technologies necessary to make life multiplanetary. This is the first time in the 4-billion-year history of Earth that it’s possible to realize that goal and protect the light of consciousness.
At Starbase on Thursday, April 4, SpaceX Chief Engineer Elon Musk provided an update on the company’s plans to send humanity to Mars, the best destination to begin making life multiplanetary.
Go to ( / 1776669097490776563 ) for the full talk, which also includes the mechanics and challenges of traveling to Mars, along with what we’re building today to enable sending around a million people and several million tonnes to the Martian surface in the years to come. - Наука та технологія

Key points I got from the full video:
(note: "rocket" = upper stage/spacecraft)
Next flight attempt is scheduled in May. The goals are for the booster to do a simulated control landing to a "virtual" tower in the ocean and for the rocket to make it back through the upper atmosphere in one piece and do a crash into the ocean in a controlled location. If both of those happen and then the 5th attempt will be for the booster to return to the tower and the rocket to have a controlled landing in the ocean. He hopes that there will be an attempt to catch the booster by December of this year at the latest (gives it an 80% chance) and for the rocket to attempt coming back to base and be caught sometime in 2025. He is being more cautious about attempting the rocket return because unlike the booster path, the rocket path will include flying over human populations to return where as the booster is simply flying out over the ocean and returning back the same way it came.
He talks about the size and thrust of future Starships and Raptors but does not go over any details of things that didn't work the last flight like tumbling in orbit for the rocket and not being able to light all the engines needed for a controlled descent for the booster.
Hope that helps anyone that doesn't use Twitter/X but was interested in the upcoming flights.
Thank you

And you're concerned about a meagre few billlion from private industry being used to protect humanity from planetary catastrophy? It's a miniscule amount of money in comparison.
Think about it mate.
Some interesting notes:
Flight 4 in a month or so. Aim to get through the high heating regime. Into the ocean at a controlled spot - a virtual tower (soft water landing technique).
If that works, "Flight 5 will land on the Tower" (catch the booster with the chopsticks).
99 percent of all mass from Earth to orbit when Starship is flying (fully operational).
Goal to get 200 tons to orbit with full reusability.
Two pinpoint soft landings are required for Ship for catches. Maybe next year.
Two Towers by sometime next year. Two at Starbase. Two at the Cape - first operation middle of next year (will be 39A).
Planning to build another roughly six boosters and ships and that production rate will increase a lot next year. That's why we're building the giant factory.
Per Mars, need more ships than boosters. - "aim to ramp production to pretty high numbers, ultimately probably a ship every, like multiple ships per day".
Next year aiming to demonstrate ship-to-ship propellant transfer.
Lunar Starship - "we need landing legs. And you don't need a heat shield and you don't need flaps because there's no atmosphere. So the Moon ship would be specialized".
Performance - "we've made dramatic progress on every level for Starship has evolved from, you know, optimistically 185 tons to 280".
"We'll aim to get the booster engines over 330 tons of thrust, which would mean 10,000 tons of total thrust at liftoff. Raptor 3 also will not need a heat shield".
Cost: "The Starship 3 (much taller version) will be 400 times more payload for less than the cost of a Falcon 1. Ultimately, I think we might be able to get the cost per flight to Earth orbit down to around $2 million or $3 million".
Lots about Mars Base Alpha.
Long-term - "we'll probably have some offshore launch sites".
Before trying to catch the booster they need to build the second tower. They cannot afford to lose the only tower they have in a catching accident
Here's what I think. Main use of Starship near term will be to deploy Starlink V2. This can be done even in expendable mode.
Regarding going to moon and landing.. Starship is way behind schedule. If they continue to delay this, Blue Origin will get to demonstrate thier Blue Moon Lander ahead of Lunar Starship. Blue Moon lander is more versatile as it can be launched on either New Glenn or SLS block 1B and can be refueled at Gateway by a number of existing rockets.. Falcon Heavy, Vulcan Centaur and JAXA's H3.
Regarding going to Mars, NASA plan to develop Nuclear Thermal Propulsion to cut the travel time to 45 days makes more sense than 6 months travel using SpaceX 10x in orbit refueling of Starship.
2-3 million is just such an incredible goal I hope u guys succeed

If Musk is serious about colonizing other planets, he REALLY needs to be funding another large-scale long-term experiment like Biosphere II (which contrary to some public perception was actually very valuable in the information it provided, and likely would have seen dramatic improvements in subsequent, better-run experiments).
There is SO much we don't yet have adequate or even sometimes basic knowledge on that would be necessary for such an endeavor. Big, cost-optimized rockets aren't the only thing necessary, in fact they're probably the LEAST difficult factor.

Who knows? Maybe the moon will end up being a tourist destination. Never say never.
There is a high probability that it has a way of existence that is very different from the stereotyped stories created. Here we can see that these stereotyped stories are deceptive. It seems that all the stories are very different from what is transferred to our minds and are applied personally and arbitrarily. And the probability of the dimension being stolen is very high.
I think the idea behind these companies is for each of them to be:
*Self sustained.* Achieved by having good revenue, solid customer-base.
*Earth utility.* SpaceX for orbit & moon flights/tourism. Starlink internet, Tesla autonomous transportation & robots, The Boring Company infrastructure, Neuralink computer-brain interface. All of them push the tech and provide a beneficial service.
*Interplanetary purpose.* By building steady growing companies, all of the above can be extended for Mars and beyond: SpaceX for interplanetary transportation, Tesla for planet transportation and workforce in harsh environments, Starlink for real-time interplanetary communication, The Boring Company infrastructure/construction projects, Neuralink self explanatory.
Brilliant!
Elon Musk should probably soon start a new company in cryonics so he can eventually run his companies from their headquarters on Mars. CryoniX would be a good name. It could serve a purpose on Earth for research into extending life.
