Many couples/ individuals are going to be asset rich/ cash poor in their older age with significant chunk of net income going towards a home mortgage. Throw in consumer loans and the investible surplus reduces further. Home equity is not something that one can bank upon, unless we have some 'good' reverse mortgage plans. What say Prof.

In "How to track financial goals" spread sheet, after 1year of investing for retirement, what are the values that has to be updated in 2nd year other than current mothly expense & yearly expense?
When calculating for 2nd year, how does the sheet consider the amount already invested in 1st year?

I have seen most people invest in a mutual fund per each goal they have. I had this misconception as well as a beginner. But after doing some readings, got to know that having just 2 to 3 fund is enough to manage our equity part of the investment. My question is how to track your investment on say 5 different goals from 2 mutual funds? I have gone through your video about how to track goals and it was very informative but it says about equity and debt as a whole. Would appreciate if you could add this to your QA or a video for it so I can plan better and also it could be informative to all the others who have the same belief . Thanks in Advance.

There are some debt funds of Banking and PSU funds. There is not much video explaining this category over the Internet. So if you can make a video explaining the risks and returns associated with these funds in this bad phase of debt funds then that would be good. There is also one specific fund in this category by LIC. If possible review it...

For Q&A : If husband and wife invest from their own incomes and the only goal is retirement+wealth accumulation (all other done), can they have identical Equity MF schemes in their portfolio or is it better to pick different schemes? ( 3 schemes each including ELSS ). What if the parents also start investing child's extra cash (scholarship, gift etc). Same MF scheme choices or different?

Is it good to have 1 large cap for 15 years, 1 large & mid cap for 25 years, 1 small cap for 30 years, 1 multi cap for 10 years & 1 liquid fund for emergency purposes. I am already doing SIP in 1 large & mid cap, 1 small cap & 1 liquid fund. I am planning to invest as SIP in the rest. Will it be a good portfolio? I have not mentioned my fund as I don't want any review on fund. Just want to know about the portfolio.

    Hi Pattu,
My question is with regard to an HUF account. I don't clearly understand how it helps in terms of tax saving, it's applicability, utility in one's financial planning journey.
Do you think it is something that a small nuclear family should consider? how should it be used? Will be good to understand your views on it. If you can share some examples it will be helpful.

Hey Pattu , it wood be good if you tell something about tax filing in case of mutual funds. Like which section under CG , is used for equity/debt fund etc. It will be good for DIY investors.
Also on how to calculate full value of consideration and cost of acquisition in case of STP etc. It's very confusing.

Hi Pattu, my query to your "Q&A" is about "Gold" as an asset class, which is well used by most of Indians as we all know as its 1 of the major house hold savings we see around us! For the benefit of all viewers, could you share your thoughts about this precious yellow metal forming part of our portfolio like an alternate to cash & as a hedge etc! what's' your take on it !?

    Hi Sir
    My question for Q&A
How can a person (probably I.T professional) traveling back and forth to onsite invest or what should be the ideal strategy
Should the person bump in more money as and when he gets more income or continue to invest same amount as he was with the income in India.

Sir, I am just graduated from IITM. I somehow have 3.4 lac. I have invested in Nifty and ITC. I don't have any fixed income component. I thought ITC is good company and invested it for long term. I bought it at 306 and now it's 10% down. Is it safe for me to continue? Or how much should I sell and put it in fixed income?
