Can't thank you enough for the youtube vids. Plenty to soak up for players at every level. Everytime I actually incorporate what you're talking about the benefits just pour out. Like reminding me to turn the guitar up all the way and use a medium pick. Turns out those .70mm Classic picks stopped all the behind the nut harmonics on my #1. Who knew?
That was 26 minutes of magic which will keep me busy for months. Like every comment can only say thanks for sharing your time and what seems unlimited knowledge it is so so appreciated.
I just came to your channel by way of Tim Pierce. I would like to thank you for reminding me of some of my old licks, and phrasing I use to use back in the 90s, before I joined the Navy. I was really deep into Wes Montgomery, Kenny Burrell, and Larry Carlton at the time, and trying to interweave their influences into my own sound that was heavily influenced by SRV, and Page. A lot of Wes, and Django in this lesson, and it made me smile. Thank you.
Well what do you know, no haters! Hard to believe, but also hard to dislike anything this man does, in my book. Thank you Guthrie for another unique lesson!
I was just about to put my guitar away and go to bed...not now. lol. Thanks Guthrie, It's good your busy, and the quality of your lessons more than make up for it. Especially a 25min video. Your longest one since one of the Bret Papa ones I believe. Awesome
@@guthrietrappmusic Yep, but that's one of the reasons your videos stand out, is they're very thorough with the time you put into them. I've said it before, but your a great teacher Guthrie. I hope the UA-cam venture is a successful one for you, it definitely has been for a lot of us out here. We love having you on here, I used to have to hunt for videos of you to all over UA-cam to learn something. Thanks again.
This brought back memories. The last cassette I bought was Count Basie`s last recording, released around 1987 or so. All Blues. He said that at that point in his life they were all he could remember. A masterpiece. Your appreciation of this era and your generosity is an example of what is still at the heart of what it is to be American. Thank You.
It’s always great to start my day with a fresh video from you man. Thanks for sharing something with endless possibilities to expand on! I know what I’ll be doing for the next few days👍🏻
Your "down home" nature makes for such a relaxed learning environment. Even when you're teaching stuff that I've known for years, you're approach is so informative and the concepts are so easy to digest that I still learn new things or at least a new way of thinking of things that I already knew. You sir are a treasure...
Guthrie, thankyou for all of your dedication and kindness. You're probably my favorite musician-guitarist. I've been playing guitar for 36 years and of course, I continue to be a student of guitar. My deepest thankyou for your kind attitude, phenomenal playing and insight and overall great content here man.
This is a great lesson and you are a very effective teacher, what you say at the 22:48 minute mark regarding which notes you are targeting is so good! Thanks Guthrie please keep em coming.
Guthrie, thanks mate. Love the way you structure your videos from simple concepts to flights of your own imagination and then back to the fundamentals. We’re all clearly inspired! 🙂
Awesome video lesson, mr Trapp! You have given me a new lease on guitar playing. I just bought a Logan Custom Telecaster and have an 1980s Washburn Hollowbody 335 so Saturday night it will be an (early) birthday gig mainly thanks to you. Hopefully after June 3rd I will be able to sign up for your lessons. Thanks a million!
Very appreciate your videos but also your talking about stories connected to the music. you're a killer player and teacher Best wishes from Paris France.
Hi Guthrie! I have to say a huge thanks for all these wonderful videos you post. It takes me quite a while to get through them. I'll be working on this one for days I'm sure. I absolutely love the tone and feel you are getting here and I'm really starting to see the shapes you are using a lot easier ever since I've started working more on the CAGED stuff you have talked about so much. I'm in your debt :-)
This is awesome Guthrie, thanks as always for the eye opening lessons! The rhythm lessons are such a great compliment to all the great melodic soloing info etc. you've shared.
Fab stuff thanks so much! Please keep going for more of this, great concepts and style, love it! Dafe travels and best of success with all your projects!
Love your videos man, also great content offered by a humble monster of a player! Best to you man, always excited to get a notification of a new video from you!! Yes!!!
Amazing lesson. I just wanna say that this is connecting all sorts of dots for me. I like the speed you are going through this stuff because you are explaining why and how it's built from simple elements. A lot to dig into but I can rewatch the bits I need to :)
Ahhh, now that cool riff in Living Colour's "Love Rears Up Its Ugly Head" makes sense...just a simple V7-IV7-I7 progression, but using the 3rd and the b7 in different inversions. Thanks Guthrie, learning something every video!
Another great video from Guthrie. Guthrie, at some point could you do some tutorials and use your own songs as the example? The song Commodity, for instance. It would be great to break down your rhythm style on that, and how you approach the lead.
I love this one (like all of them really)! Just going back through again after all the new stuff. Superb. Can you do another that talks through the ideas you mentioned at the end? Especially that beautiful little arpeggio and how that fits... chromatics and the diminished passing chords... AMAZING!
Always great to see more of Guthrie, but no worries mate. It's just good to know you're out there making music! If I could suggest, maybe get a lav mic one day, it would make the videos even more enjoyable!
Hey Guthrie, Karl here from the UK, I had a great lesson with you over Skype a while back. I hope all is well and you enjoyed Europe. Anyway, loving the videos, you're putting out some great content and I'm learning a lot, thank you. I've noticed some of your playing has a Latin groove/feel to it, it'd be great if you could do a lesson that touches on that style of playing. Thanks again!
Thats what I NEEDED man THANK YOU, man your great with that! its symmetry via 1/2 step connection that appeals to my brain but the foundation remains the same 145 Then on the 6 3 2 5..1 Turnaround your useing a b9 Arp on the 6 and the 5 to make a 1/2 step connection to the next chord,,, symmetry! LOVE IT so the line goes G#G F# F to the I [ E note ]
I'd love to meet the 4 people that disliked this video to hear of there objections to such an amazingly gifted guitarist sharing so much for free. Hey Guthrie your version of Little Wing was amazing. Check out Monte Montgomery’s version of Little Wing, he was voted best acoustic guitarist in Austin for 8 years straight, my best friend was his drummer for a while. I hope everything has been going great for you. I am still subscribed to ArtistWorks, you have a lot of lessons, material on their site to cover. Like they say, Rome wasn’t built in a day.
