    Thank you so much!! 😁😁 I’ve done two wool projects in the past but am struggling with this recent one. There are holes all over my piece! This never happened before. This video makes me realize that the wool is much finer, and that perhaps my needles are too big! Gives me hope that the project can be saved 😂

    I need to felt little leaves onto a knitted wool blanket. Do you have tips on how to attach them to the blanket? Any videos that might help me?

    • @SnowflakeForestFelting
      @SnowflakeForestFelting  3 роки тому +2

      You should be able to felt them right on!
      If you wanted reinforcement, you could sew it on too.
      I do attached a felt tractor to a knit hat in one of my videos.
      Felting the leafs prior would give it a more 3D look compared to designing them right on the blanket.
      Clover USA makes a great felt tool for this, I tested it in a video attaching mushrooms to a knit hat. You could check that video out too! Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Exactly what is "core wool"? What is "roving"? I have "Carded Maori Wool - a blend of New Zealand wools for needle felting". We have only two art supply stores within a 100 mile radius. I asked for "needle felting supplies" and this is what they sold me, along with various needles. I have a lot of different colors besides their "skin tones" bag of eight skin tones. Please adivise. Thank you so much for all your information.

    Icelyn I am very stuck in a rut. My projects have been starting fine and normal and then I somehow end up with pieces that won't connect, or the wool won't entangle or firm up and hold shape, it just like explodes out the other side instead 🙃 have my barbs gone dull on the needle or do I need to add more wool? It feels like no matter how much I use and what needles I try it's the same issue

    • @SnowflakeForestFelting
      @SnowflakeForestFelting  2 роки тому +2

      Hi, thanks for asking. By the sounds of your message it does sound like your needles maybe dull. Have you had them for a very many projects?
      Have you changed the type of wool you are working with and are you sure it is pure wool?
      I think the simplest thing to start with trouble shooting would be to order some new needles.
      If you have been doing it a while & haven’t bought new needles it might be time.
      I will never forget the first time I got new Needles, I was feeling frustrated my projects seemed to start taking twice as long. When the new needles showed up I finished a project so fast, it was like an aaahhaaa moment, that is what Felting is about. It made it fun again and the needles brought my work back to life.
      If you are enjoying Felting and want to keep creating, maybe there are some new needles you have been wanting to try? Compare to what you have used already? Do you know the type of Needles you have?
      An investment in tools in your work is always a valuable move. I don’t think you could go wrong give a new set a try!
      I hope this helps. I’m here however I can be🌬❄️🌲🤍 O and if you aren’t sure what Needles to try next, try Clover USA’s Heavy Weight Needle, they have pulled most anything I have felt with. There is a link for them in the description! 🤙🏻

    Question: I am a beginner. I am only using a basic needle to work with my Shih Tzu hair. Any suggestions as to how to work with his dog hair? I have tried and it does seem to be able to be felted. Thanks!

    • @SnowflakeForestFelting
      @SnowflakeForestFelting  2 роки тому +1

      Hi! Thanks for asking. I do not have much experience working with dog or cat hair.
      The things with wool, sheep fleece, is the wool fibers have scales and the barbed needle hooks those scales and that is how the wool interlocks with itself and condenses.
      The Dog hair could just be too slick to mat. Although, I think most pets when not groomed their hair can still mat.
      It could be the needles barbs are not the correct size to catch the hair & mat it.
      Could you take a little ball of it and see if you can get it to mat with your hands, friction, maybe even a little warm water & soap? If that is able to mat, then maybe you could try a fine weight needle?
      Do you know the type of needle you have?

    are the amazon muti colored packages good? i am hesitant to buy because i don't want it to be cheap quality but it is really affordable. also what websites/place do you recommend to get wool from? thank you so much!

    • @SnowflakeForestFelting
      @SnowflakeForestFelting  3 роки тому +3

      I’m sure it could vary depending on the mixed package type of wool. There are a lot of options available you will want to read the description to find the type of wool it is.
      Some breeds are more expensive because they have quality wool and also more flexible. Wool that is corse can be harder to felt/shape.
      I do have a video sharing my favorite sites to get Needle Felting Supplies.
      If you are wanting quality wool, Clover USA has very nice roving.
      You pay for what you get usually.

    • @SnowflakeForestFelting
      @SnowflakeForestFelting  3 роки тому +1

      Hi, I’m not very sure how dog hair would work. You could try!
      Wool fiber has scales on it, that when the barbed needle is used it entangles the fibers creating the Felted item.
      Dog hair is very smooth, it might take more time? Maybe you could try a mix of dog hair & wool?
      Sorry, I’m not more of help.
