    I thank you for taking the time to teach needle felters important tips . Without these tips it is easy to give up. Over and over again felting the same way doesn’t help. You nailed it !

    i started needlefelting yesterday, and made a little purple creature, roughly bean shaped, not much detail, but i was still happy with him! after simply watching you work (and of course listening to your tips, but i mostly do well from watching how other people do it!) has helped me so much already :] im working on a little needlefelt sculpture of my dog now! and so far she is so cute! thank you so much for sharing these videos theyre so sweet and awesome and cool

    I immediately thought of Betty Edwards' book when I saw you putting the cat upside down. I never thought of using that technique for needle felting. Brilliant!

    This is awesome. I used that book with my kids when homeschooled. It's a great book. I should pull it back out and go through it again.

    Hmm.. That's an interesting tip. I'll give it a go as I can easily overthink and and spend longer on a piece than I plan to. Thanks

    This is a great way to practice, thank you for sharing!
    It's great observation practice too...one thing I realised through needle felting--
    it seems to regrow my braincells (i.e.making me more alert/focused in a manner of speaking).
    🙃🧠✨
    Plus I've gotten better at not "felting" myself and not having have to put too many plasters on my fingers!😂

    This is all incredibly good advice. I've heard similar things about drawing (copy a picture, but turn it upside-down first). But this left-brain/right-brain thing has been thoroughly debunked for so long, and it drives me nuts when people take that as fact. It's a metaphor at best. But on a more positive note, thank you so much for making these great videos!

      Many thanks for this, I admit I wasn't aware of the research on this that questions the left-right brain stuff 😊 I apologise for including that part, I have just read up on this a bit and it does seem like researchers now believe it's more spread across both sides of the brain. I do think the Betty Edwards book is still extremely helpful though and certainly helped me when I was learning to draw. Also for me it does feel like I am using my brain in a different way when I am looking at an object and trying to represent it in either a drawing or a sculpture in wool. I think the turning it upside down thing helps to switch off our "I recognise that object" kind of thinking, wherever that resides in the brain 😊 I really appreciate your comment and feedback and will be more careful in my research for my videos in future, glad you like the videos in general 😊 thanks for watching.

    I like to put catnip in all of my felts so that I can just remind myself that if I’m not satisfied with how it comes out, then I can just give it to my cat! 🤭

    • @juliesfeltedfriends
      @juliesfeltedfriends  7 місяців тому

      That's a great idea, as long as your cat doesn't go hunting down your best needle felted items! 😂😺 Thanks for watching
